Stardate 4768.3: Someone attempts to signal the Enterprise and they follow it to the outer edge of the galaxy where they find a planet that has been rendered uninhabitable by some kind of ancient cataclysm. A voice speaks to them out of thin air and identifies itself as Sargon and invites them to visit, speaking of them as its “children.”

Kirk decides to resume contact and sends an update to Starfleet, three weeks away. Spock detects an energy source 100 miles within the planet but no lifeforms. Sargon speaks again and asks them to come down and rescue them from oblivion, and assures them he can make sure they arrive safely. Spock detects a breathable atmosphere and Kirk decides to go down with McCoy. When he tells Spock to stay behind, the ship’s power goes dead until Kirk agrees to take Spock with them. When they arrive in the transporter room they find Dr. Anne Mulhall waiting for them. She says she was “told” to join the landing party, much as Spock did. Accompanied by two security officers, the landing party enters the transporter chamber but only Kirk, Spock, McCoy, and Mulhall are beamed down when Sargon takes the controls.

Arriving in an underground chamber, Kirk establishes contact with the Enterprise. They then enter a neighboring chamber and find a glowing sphere and within is the mental essence of Sargon. He says over 500,000 years ago they colonized distant planets, possibly including Earth and Vulcan. Sargon says his race suffered a great schism when they came to believe themselves as gods.

Ronald Reagan

XL President of the United States: 1981 - 1989

Radio Address to the Nation on Armed Forces Day and Defense Spending

May 18, 1985

My fellow Americans:

Not too long ago one of our Ambassadors visited an American armored cavalry regiment stationed on the NATO line in Germany. As he returned to his helicopter, he was followed by a young 19-year-old trooper. The trooper asked him if he could get a message to the President. Well, the Ambassador said that sometimes getting messages to the President was part of his job. And the young trooper then said, "Will you tell him we're proud to be here, and we ain't scared of nothin."

Well, not long ago the Ambassador was in Washington and told me the sequel to that incident. I'd repeated a story in a talk that was carried on our Voice of America radio program, and there in that base in Germany the young trooper heard the broadcast and knew that I'd received his message. His commanding officer said that he ran down the company street yelling: "The system works! The system works!"

Back to the Future

:48:34
I've had enough jokes for one evening.
Good night, future boy!

:48:37
- No, wait, Doc.

:48:38
The bruise on your head.
I know how that happened. You told me.

:48:43
You were standing on your toilet
hanging a clock...

:48:45
...and you fell
and hit your head on the sink.

:48:47
That's when you got the idea
for the flux capacitor which...

:48:51
...is what makes time travel possible.

:49:07
There's something wrong with
the starter, so I hid it here.

:49:21
After I fell off my toilet...

:49:24
...I drew this.

:49:29
The flux capacitor.

:49:48
It works!

:49:51
It works!

:49:54
I finally invent something that works!

:49:57
You bet your ass it works.

Yes, of course.

:24:20
That was the day I invented time travel.

:24:23
I remember it vividly.

Gemini 12

Launch: November 11, 1966

Landing: November 15, 1966

Gemini 12 (officially Gemini XII) was a 1966 manned spaceflight in NASA's Gemini program.

Insignia

The patch's unique orange and black colors are a link to the flight's original scheduled date close to Halloween. The Roman numeral XII is located at the 12 o'clock position on the face of a clock, with the Gemini spacecraft pointing to it like the hour hand of a clock. This represents the position of Gemini 12 as the last flight of the Gemini program. With the Apollo project following this last flight of the Gemini program, the ultimate objective -- the moon -- is symbolized by the crescent on the left.

Dr. McCoy: [narrating] Medical log, Stardate 4770.3. Do I list one death or two? When Kirk's body died, Sargon was too far distant from his receptacle to transfer back. Sargon is dead. But is Captain Kirk dead? His body is, but his consciousness is still in the receptacle into which it was transferred earlier.
