Because reading rando's yesterday on the internet on a topic I have followed for months gave me idea to look at today
My continued attempt to understand why such baffling seriousness in this real world would have needed that undertaking makes me think of other reasons to look for, my theory of fictions signifying variations on prediction of a distant future, common theme. "La Chica o El Mundo" is the ninth episode and first season finale of the American post-apocalyptic science fiction television series Pluribus. The episode was written by executive producers Alison Tatlock and Gordon Smith, and directed by Smith. It was released on Apple TV on December 24, 2025.
The series is set in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and follows author Carol Sturka, who is one of only thirteen people in the world immune to the effects of "the Joining", resulting from an extraterrestrial virus that had transformed the world's human population into a peaceful and content hive mind (the "Others"). In the episode, Manousos finally reaches Albuquerque, leaving Carol to debate whether to help him in making a plan to destroy the Others.
The episode received critical acclaim, with critics praising the scenes between Carol and Manousos, the performances and the cliffhanger.

In Greek mythology, Icarus was the son of the master craftsman Daedalus, the architect of the labyrinth of Crete, and his wife Naucrate. After Theseus, king of Athens and enemy of King Minos, escaped from the labyrinth, Minos suspected that Icarus and Daedalus had revealed the labyrinth's secrets and thus imprisoned them—either in a large tower overlooking the ocean or in the labyrinth itself, depending upon the account. Icarus and Daedalus escaped using wings Daedalus constructed from birds' molted feathers, threads from blankets, the leather straps from their sandals, and beeswax. Before escaping, Daedalus warned Icarus not to fly too low or the water would soak the feathers and not to fly too close to the Sun or the heat would melt the wax. Icarus ignored Daedalus' instructions not to fly too close to the Sun, causing the beeswax in his wings to melt. Icarus fell from the sky, plunged into the sea, and drowned. The myth gave rise to the idiom, "fly too close to the Sun".

Setting and plot
The game takes place on the fictional planet of Icarus, located roughly four light years from Earth. The planet was the site of an attempted terraforming procedure, however unforeseen complications arose from exotic materials present on Icarus. These exotic materials cause the terraforming process to fail and leave the planet uninhabitable to humans. The process does however make the planet home to a viable ecosystem composed of genetically modified flora and fauna. Players take on the role of an explorer sent to explore the planet, retrieve scientific samples, and eventually gather exotic materials for eventual sale on Earth.

The dungeon doors are opening again. Seeing that something's about to happen, O'Neill takes Skaara aside towards the center of the room. The crowd is gathering at the foot of the steps, apprehensively trying to see what's going on. The Serpent Guards file in, forming two lines on each side of the doorway along the walls. Teal'c enters, standing in the center of the threshold, his helmet gone. The lines of Jaffa flanking him step forward, so that they are all lined up at the head of the stairs.
TEAL'C: Sha'ka ha! Kree hol mel, Goa'uld!
O'NEILL: What did he say?
SKAARA: (quietly, dreading this) They are going to choose.
CARTER: Choose what?
SKAARA: Who will be the children of the gods.
MALE GOA'ULD #2: We choose...
His gaze moves just past Daniel to Skaara.
MALE GOA'ULD #2: Him.
The litter bearers rush forward and grab Skaara, dragging him along. O'Neill tries to go after him, but is restrained.
SKAARA: Na-ney! Na-ney! O'Neill!
O'NEILL: Skaara!
SKAARA: (screaming) O'Neill! O'Neill! O'Neill!
O'NEILL: Skaara!
One of the Serpent Guards clubs O'Neill in the face with the head of the staff. He falls back, dazed. The two Goa'uld leave, and Skaara is dragged out of the dungeon.
SKAARA: (still screaming) O'Neill! O'Neill!
Once the last pair of Goa'uld are gone, the Serpent Guards return to formation, more or less. Apophis and Sha're stand at the head of the stairs, and Apophis hesitates for effect.
APOPHIS: Kill the rest.
