Pearl Harbor (2001)

Danny: You're a rotten drunk... always have been.

Rafe: Well, you're a lousy friend... that's a new development.

Subject: Rise Above

This was a pleasant surprise. I was disappointed though when I first saw them that they were preparing to leave. I think this is the one at the link below. I love these ships. Who needs a parade when you can watch a U.S. Navy warship getting underway? If I could choose any ship I wanted for a personal yacht, it would be a Burke-class destroyer.

US Air Force Colonel Chappie Sinclair: Your dad's a strong man. He'll be okay.

Doug Masters: You know him?

US Air Force Colonel Chappie Sinclair: No, but let's say I know the type. That's the most important thing to know.

Doug Masters: Yeah? Well, if more people were like him, he wouldn't be stuck over there.

US Air Force Colonel Chappie Sinclair: What do you mean by that?

Doug Masters: Nobody's doing anything is what I mean. I mean, they don't have the balls to stand up to those bastards and force them to release him.

US Air Force Colonel Chappie Sinclair: Oh, I see. What do you think we ought to do about it? Launch some missiles? Go to war over it?

Doug Masters: No, of course not. But how tough could it be? They're a shitty little country.

US Air Force Colonel Chappie Sinclair: It's not the matter of being tough. It's the way they do things. Too many people get to make the decisions. I've seen them operate, they just take too long.

Doug Masters: You've seen them plan one of these things?

US Air Force Colonel Chappie Sinclair: A bunch of times. But they usually... uh, lose more lives than they save. Your - your dad is a whole lot better off, probably if they just negotiate.

Doug Masters: You think with the right plan, it would be simple to go in and get him.

US Air Force Colonel Chappie Sinclair: It's not that simple, but it's possible.

Doug Masters: Could you plan it?

US Air Force Colonel Chappie Sinclair: Why?

Doug Masters: Because I want to know.

US Air Force Colonel Chappie Sinclair: Probably.

Doug Masters: What do you think it would take?

US Air Force Colonel Chappie Sinclair: It would take a hell of a lot more than you got, kid.

Doug Masters: But wait a minute. Dad's got a lot of people on the base that love him.

US Air Force Colonel Chappie Sinclair: Well, being friends with someone's a lot different than risking your life for them.
