WASHINGTON — An infuriated President Clinton, struggling to fend off yet another damaging allegation about his personal behavior, denied Wednesday that he had an "improper sexual relationship" with a White House intern or encouraged her to lie under oath about their involvement.
Yet even as the president did his best to rebut the charges, independent counsel Kenneth W. Starr issued a subpoena for White House documents that might shed light on Clinton's relationship with 24-year-old Monica S. Lewinsky.
Sources confirmed that Starr sought and won approval Friday to expand his probe after his office assisted a co-worker of Lewinsky's in surreptitiously tape-recording a conversation in which the former aide allegedly discussed an affair with Clinton and subsequent White House efforts to influence her testimony.
The recent exchange between Lewinsky and Linda Tripp was recorded with the assistance of FBI agents

Jones' Lawyers See Clinton Cover-Up Over Willey Notes

WASHINGTON — Attorneys for Paula Corbin Jones filed court papers Saturday contending President Clinton obstructed justice by withholding letters, notes and telephone messages between the president and Kathleen Willey until after she accused him of a crude sexual advance on national television.
In the new papers and an accompanying press release, the attorneys made an accusation against Clinton from 20 years ago involving a woman who had not been mentioned in the Jones case previously. Clinton's attorney said it was an act of desperation.
Regarding the Willey documents, Jones' lawyers said the White House had expressly denied any such papers existed, including records about Willey's employment, appointments, duties, conferences, logs and telephone records.
The attorneys for Jones, who has accused the president of sexual harassment while he was governor of Arkansas, said they asked three months ago for documents concerning Willey, a White House volunteer.
In the days after Willey made her allegations in a CBS-TV "60 Minutes" interview on March 15, the White House released 17 documents, which consisted of notes, letters and telephone messages.
Some of the letters, signed "Fondly, Kathleen," were cited as evidence that the two remained on good terms even after November 1993, when Willey claims the president fondled her outside the Oval Office.

I found myself wondering today when it was that the Stark was hit by the Iraqis. I want to say it was 1986 but I started thinking later that it was 1987. I still remember standing in the barracks when I was in Orlando and seeing the news report. But that was 1986. In 1987, I would have been in Dam Neck. I was watching the tv with one of my roommates
previously of the USS Kitty Hawk I think, so that would have definitely been Orlando . Can’t look it up because the internet has been down all day. I suspect terrorists are trying to block my internet access.
I started wondering about the Stark because I wonder if I was there and I took some kind of action in response. I am hoping that, if indeed I did something, I took the initiative to select a legitimate military target and took action. Something similar to: “Hello, Baghdad Bob? Yeah, I’m flying in a message from the Stark, federal express. I hope you’re there to take delivery, but if not, that’s up to you.”
Later I started thinking that maybe I just bombed their lawn, to send them a message to not make any more “mistakes” around our ships.
