What I found interesting as I met our new cast of astronauts is that one of these 10 could actually be one of the first Americans to put their boots on the Mars surface
And the first boot that ever sets foot on the surface of the red planet will be an American astronaut on it and could well be one of these boots right here.

BACKGROUND:
The Navy Cross was established by Act of Congress (Public Law 253, 65th Congress), approved on February 4, 1919. The Navy Cross has been in effect since April 6, 1917. The Navy Cross was designed by James Earl Fraser (1876-1953). Originally, the Navy Cross was lower in precedence than the Navy Distinguished Service Medal, because it was awarded for both combat heroism and for "other distinguished service." Congress revised this on 7 August 1942, making the Navy Cross a combat-only award and second only to the Medal of Honor. Since its creation, it has been awarded more than 6,300 times.
CRITERIA:
The Navy Cross may be awarded to any person who, while serving with the Navy or Marine Corps, distinguishes himself in action by extraordinary heroism not justifying an award of the Medal of Honor.

No one is reading these extremely important reports here by me
So does not matter if I give away a "spoiler" about season-2 of "Travelers", thinking crazy thoughts of how it seems so relevant
The Faction is a group of individuals who died in the original timeline of the "Travelers" that are the starring character of the streaming-video series
Those Travelers were sent to the very distant past, which is our present time, by their Director
The starring Travelers are not people time-traveled. They are information - in the form of consciousness - permanently transmitted to the very distant past. They take over humans known from records to have otherwise died at a known time and date
From the storyline I have observed, the dialog establishes that the starring Travelers have made changes that reduce the impact of the recklessness of the present-day society
Because of the polluters of this present-day, those people have to live in sheltered domes just to survive, because the people of today are such reckless and shameful polluters, the planet's environment is completely wrecked and hostile to human life
Those starring Travelers have supposedly succeeded enough in their effects - the Director's Grand Plan - that people who were killed by a dome collapse due to harmful environment conditions, in the time before the Travelers came here to this present time, are now suddenly alive
And for them, there is no suddenness about it. They have always been alive
To the starring Travelers, however, those people not killed are now suddenly alive again and are now The Faction
They are group of Travelers who want to ignore the Grand Plan of the Director
So anyone following the Grand Plan is their enemy
In the recent episode I viewed last night - content established a decade ago but only known to me as of last night - The Faction set off a virus plague to kill off 30% of human life on this planet Earth
Fewer polluters, less pollution
The episode also demonstrated variabilities as the timelines repeat. Ultimately, the mission succeeded because of a variability. Also, was it failing because the Director is so incapable as to not recognize that it was the transfer timing of the skydivers causing the mission to fail and apparently resulting in the death of those volunteers. Only one minute later and Wayne would have been in his chute and would not have collided with Carrie. The writers of the story tell us the number of people that die before the characters in the story finally get it right. So did the Director figure out how to use that truck-driver - because someone suddenly said (in the distant future): "Who the fuck is this guy?"
Also formed new in my mind yesterday - obvious to *you* now only because you know about it from *me* - is that solar and wind are not a panacea for what ails this once beautiful planet Earth, for possible reasons I described earlier.
This seems relevant to me this evening sitting here at this same stupid desk and discovering content for the very first time and that seems so profound to me
The past exists for me because I remember it.
