Stargate Universe - "Visitation" - tv-series Season 2 Episode 9, 11/23/2010
(from internet transcript)
CAINE: It's nice to hear your voice. Uh, well, of course there's no way of knowing His will, but I do know that I prayed every night before I went to sleep that He would keep us safe.
WALLACE (cynically): So ... magic, then.
CAINE: You have to admit that our arrival here is nothing less than miraculous, Eli.
(Eli, who has been looking increasingly uncomfortable as the conversation has progressed, now shuts off the comms and talks over his shoulder to Young.)
WALLACE: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." Arthur C. Clarke.
YOUNG: "Turn the mic back on." Winston Churchill.
WALLACE (frowning): Really?
(Young gestures towards the screen, where Peter is shouting at the Kino. Eli turns the sound back on.)
PETER: ... are you gonna keep us here?
VAL: We haven't done anything.
YOUNG: Try to be patient. You'll be released once you've all undergone a physical examination one at a time.
CAINE: But we're perfectly fine.
YOUNG: Well, forgive me if I don't take your word for that. The more answers we have, the less precautions we'll have to take.
(He switches the comms off, and looks at Eli.)
YOUNG: Let's keep an eye on 'em.
(Eli nods, and Young leaves the room.)
SHUTTLE. Young walks in to where Nicholas, Scott, Brody and Volker are checking out their shiny new ship. And it is a shiny new ship, unlike the battered old vessel which Young had flown down to the Faith planet a year ago.
YOUNG: What do you think?
RUSH: Well, it appears to have been completely restored.
SCOTT: Brand spankin' new, more like it.
RUSH: Every part, every system, every square inch of this thing's in perfect factory condition.
BRODY: Even has that new shuttle smell(!)

Even today had that classic recurring sleeping-dream
What's faded about it is that sense of amazement to discover I still incredibly have owned that house, sitting there empty all this time, waiting for me to return to it, which I do with great joy
Today, I saw myself driving around in my Jeep Wrangler, which I never owned until years later, on the neighboring streets, blundering around in the slippery snow, could *feel* the improved traction after I engaged four-drive-wheel, after earlier incidents, sliding into red-light
I don't ever really care about that particular house I owned long ago in South Carolina.
I moved away from SC in 1998 and I have never really cared about moving back there. I don't see myself ever leaving Spokane
The scenes of me driving around remind me of similarities to here
Interstate I-85 and Wade Hampton Blvd
I-90 and Sprague
Charlotte east, Atlanta west, all easy to access with I-85
Here: Seattle west, to the east, nothing but a lot of Montana
Greenville and Spartanburg
Spokane and Coeur d'Alene
GSP just seemed so vibrant, driving around back then on Wade Hampton, Spokane on Sprague seems decaying
GSP, a really nice house for a hundred thousand
Here, all I can tell, that same price gets you a decrepit old, 100 year old shack that, seems to me, is probably bug-infested
Today, I saw myself out in that expansive yard, vivid details
Had a snow-shovel
Used a water-hose, thought to myself to bring it in before it froze solid
Saw my Jeep Wrangler on the circular-driveway, thought to myself need to put it in the double garage
Looked up at night sky while standing there in the front-yard. Constellation Orion clearly visible to me in that sleeping-dream, so often recurring in that same setting, details always varied
The Spokesman-Review
Oct. 23, 2020
Spokane was pummeled with a record-breaking 6.2 inches of snow Friday – the most to fall in the city during October – leading to slick roads and thousands of residents without power.

Chuck Yeager
From Wikipedia
Brigadier General Charles Elwood Yeager (February 13, 1923 – December 7, 2020) was a United States Air Force officer, flying ace, and record-setting test pilot who in October 1947 became the first pilot in history confirmed to have exceeded the speed of sound in level flight.
To seal the hatch of the XS-1, the pilot needed to hold the hatch in position and use their right arm to slam down a heavy lever. Yeager would not be able to seal the hatch with his broken ribs, so Yeager secretly asked his friend and fellow project pilot Jack Ridley for a solution. Ridley sawed off the end of a broom handle for Yeager to use as a lever to seal the hatch.

Johnny Ringo: Fight's not with you, Holliday.
Doc Holliday: I'll beg to differ, sir.
[opens his coat to reveal a U.S. Deputy Marshal Badge]
Doc Holliday: ... it's legal.
Johnny Ringo: All right, lunger. Let's do it.
