I just woke up a few minutes ago from I guess about 5 or 6 hours of sleep. I still feel exhausted. I am now wondering of the series of scenes and images in one dream was actually a representation of my flight into space as the commander of the first space shuttle launch.

There dream, though, seemed to be set on the USS Oliver Hazard Perry FFG-7. I am not certain how I linked that setting to FFG-7 but I am certain I was on a FFG-7 class ship and the notion lingers in my mind that it was the FFG-7.
In a somewhat confusing part, I walked out of a room with two people in it, where a junior person was getting a medal, for someone reason, as I was looking on, onto the weatherdeck. The person who had got the medal, which was a medal I can visualize but that I do not recognize, followed out onto the deck, I think. I can still visualize the calm blue water and also looking out onto the shore and the sky line of some city we were near but that I cannot recognize either after waking up. I do remember that I commented to the other person that I enjoyed being back out to sea, and I feel compelled to note that I might have said to him that I enjoyed especially being out to sea when we we just floating around, as we were then. Then, for some strange reason, I was over the edge of the deck and I was hanging onto the low railing, trying to keep myself from falling over into the water. But the gravity was strange and that might be why that part seems weird, in retrospect of the dream. I almost want to say that my feet were drifting upwards instead of downwards towards the ocean. I cannot remember what happened next. On one hand, it seems understand that I was hanging onto that railing but I am also somewhat baffled, as I ponder the dream after waking up, why I was even hanging from that railing in the first place.
I also remember something, vaguely, about Iceland, maybe. Something related to flying aircraft. Perhaps I was stationed at some point as a pilot in Iceland. I remember hearing some comments about someone's skills as an aircraft pilot. I remember something about looking at an aircraft runway and seeing the remains of the de-icer material they use. This all seemed to happen as I was sitting on the boat and I could actually see those other locations, such as the runway and the office, while I was in another far away location. That might be the result of remembering a past experience while having a dream. Something like that. A memory within a memory. I also remember sitting there in that boat that I was holding some kind of award plaque but I cannot remember what was writting on that award plaque. I think the award plaque had been given to Jim Lovell but I am not certain what that means. I can still visualize certain words on it but I cannot remember enough to describe those words. I remember that some letters were missing in the words.

Hubble Images Our Closest Neighbor: Proxima Centauri
Only with the Hubble Space Telescope could we get such a brilliant view of our closest stellar neighbor: Proxima Centauri. Located in the constellation of Centaurus (The Centaur), Proxima is just slightly over four light years distant from Earth. Even though this recent Hubble image makes the tiny star appear bright, it really isn't. At around magnitude 11, it's barely visible to an average telescope - let alone the unaided eye!
So what makes this diminutive star special, other than the fact that it's the closest star to our Sun? In this case, it's the type. While Proxima Centauri has an extremely low average luminosity and is physically small compared to other stars (about 1/8th the mass of our Sun) it is what's known as a "flare star". This unusual stellar orb doesn't "burn" like others - it heats by the convection process - where the energy is physically moved up from the interior to the exterior, rather than radiated. As a result, the left-over hydrogen ash doesn't collect at the core... rather it circulates throughout the star. In the end, this means that Proxima will almost completely exhaust its nuclear fuel before the fusion of hydrogen comes to an end.
Not only is the life of a flare star unusual, but so are its appearances. Because of the convection process, Proxima is noted for drastic changes in brightness which can occur with no warning or pattern. Astronomers predict that stars such as Proxima will remain a main sequence member for around another four trillion years - or 300 times the age of the Universe as we know it!
Proxima was discovered in 1915 by Scottish astronomer Robert Innes, Director of the Union Observatory in Johannesburg, South Africa. At the time, he didn't know that it was the nearest star to Earth, only that it had the same proper motion as Alpha Centauri. Its name means "the closest," and while it applied to companion star, Alpha, it would be a name that would ring even more true when Dutch astronomer Joan Voute measured the star's trigonometric parallax and determined that Proxima Centauri was approximately the same distance from the Sun as Alpha. It has been the closest star to the Sun for about 32,000 years and will be so for about another 33,000 years!
Proxima Centauri is actually part of a triple star system its two companions, Alpha Centauri A and B, lie out of frame. However, they aren't the only ones sharing the same address. Six single stars, two binary star systems, and a triple star share a common motion through space with Proxima Centauri and the Alpha Centauri system. While it hasn't been proven yet, chances are they are all part of a moving group, similar to the Ursa Major System. Did these stars have a common point of origin? It's possible they may have all once belonged to a star cluster... a theory which will last at least until Proxima is shown not to be gravitationally bound to its companions!

The year 2015 marked the centenary of the discovery in Johannesburg of the star closest to the sun, Proxima Centauri, and South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (SAASTA) leveraged the occasion to advance science awareness.
SAASTA rolled out a string of activities across the country to mark this milestone in South African astronomy. These culminated in a national event where Ian Glass, who specialises in astronomical history and who is an expert in the infrared radiation from celestial objects, was one of the key speakers.
The exact date of the discovery is not known, but the evidence suggests that it was just before 05 October 1915. It was established that Innes sent the paper to announce his discovery to the printers on that date. The paper is entitled “A faint star of large proper motion” and dated 12 October 1915.

He had been flying the Bell X-1 (which he had named the "Glamorous Glennis") since August and had made 8 previous powered flights. When he actually broke the sound barrier on October 14, it was by accident. The target speed was Mach .97, but at speeds just under Mach 1, a shock wave made the Machmeter read low.

Cut to operating room. They remove the chip from McQueen
Cut to McQueen's quarters. McQueen is lying on his bunk and tries to get up but finds it very difficult. He's disorientated. He tries standing again.
Cut to flight deck. McQueen is working out again, though this time he moves sluggishly. Hawkes and West watch as McQueen tries to train. McQueen falls down. Hawkes and West go to help him up but he shrugs them off. Ross watches this in dismay.

In regard to his companions his mind wavered between two opinions, according to his mood. Sometimes he inclined to believing them all heroes. In fact, he usually admired in secret the superior development of the higher qualities in others. He could conceive of men going very insignificantly about the world bearing a load of courage unseen, and although he had known many of his comrades through boyhood, he began to fear that his judgment of them had been blind. Then, in other moments, he flouted these theories, and assured him that his fellows were all privately wondering and quaking.
His emotions made him feel strange in the presence of men who talked excitedly of a prospective battle as of a drama they were about to witness, with nothing but eagerness and curiosity apparent in their faces. It was often that he suspected them to be liars.
He did not pass such thoughts without severe condemnation of himself. He dinned reproaches at times. He was convicted by himself of many shameful crimes against the gods of traditions.
In his great anxiety his heart was continually clamoring at what he considered the intolerable slowness of the generals. They seemed content to perch tranquilly on the river bank, and leave him bowed down by the weight of a great problem. He wanted it settled forthwith. He could not long bear such a load, he said. Sometimes his anger at the commanders reached an acute stage, and he grumbled about the camp like a veteran.

There was a tattered man, fouled with dust, blood and powder stain from hair to shoes, who trudged quietly at the youth's side. He was listening with eagerness and much humility to the lurid descriptions of a bearded sergeant. His lean features wore an expression of awe and admiration. He was like a listener in a country store to wondrous tales told among the sugar barrels. He eyed the story-teller with unspeakable wonder. His mouth was agape in yokel fashion.
The sergeant, taking note of this, gave pause to his elaborate history while he administered a sardonic comment. "Be keerful, honey, you 'll be a-ketchin' flies," he said.
The tattered man shrank back abashed.
After a time he began to sidle near to the youth, and in a diffident way try to make him a friend. His voice was gentle as a girl's voice and his eyes were pleading. The youth saw with surprise that the soldier had two wounds, one in the head, bound with a blood-soaked rag, and the other in the arm, making that member dangle like a broken bough.
After they had walked together for some time the tattered man mustered sufficient courage to speak. "Was pretty good fight, wa'n't it?" he timidly said. The youth, deep in thought, glanced up at the bloody and grim figure with its lamblike eyes. "What?"
"Was pretty good fight, wa'n't it?"
"Yes," said the youth shortly. He quickened his pace.
But the other hobbled industriously after him. There was an air of apology in his manner, but he evidently thought that he needed only to talk for a time, and the youth would perceive that he was a good fellow.
"Was pretty good fight, wa'n't it?" he began in a small voice, and the he achieved the fortitude to continue. "Dern me if I ever see fellers fight so. Laws, how they did fight! I knowed th' boys 'd like it when they onct got square at it. Th' boys ain't had no fair chanct up t' now, but this time they showed what they was. I knowed it 'd turn out this way. Yeh can't lick them boys. No, sir! They 're fighters, they be."
He breathed a deep breath of humble admiration. He had looked at the youth for encouragement several times. He received none, but gradually he seemed to get absorbed in his subject.
"I was talkin' 'cross pickets with a boy from Georgie, onct, an' that boy, he ses, 'Your fellers 'll all run like hell when they onct hearn a gun,' he ses. 'Mebbe they will,' I ses, 'but I don't b'lieve none of it,' I ses; 'an' b'jiminey,' I ses back t' 'um, 'mebbe your fellers 'll all run like hell when they onct hearn a gun,' I ses. He larfed. Well, they didn't run t' day, did they, hey? No, sir! They fit, an' fit, an' fit."
His homely face was suffused with a light of love for the army which was to him all things beautiful and powerful.
After a time he turned to the youth. "Where yeh hit, ol' boy?" he asked in a brotherly tone.
The youth felt instant panic at this question, although at first its full import was not borne in upon him.
"What?" he asked.
"Where yeh hit?" repeated the tattered man.

My fellow Americans:
From the early days of the colonies, prayer in school was practiced and revered as an important tradition. Indeed, for nearly 200 years of our nation's history, it was considered a natural expression of our religious freedom. But in 1962 the Supreme Court handed down a controversial decision prohibiting prayer in public schools.
Sometimes I can't help but feel the first amendment is being turned on its head. Because ask yourselves: Can it really be true that the first amendment can permit Nazis and Ku Klux Klansmen to march on public property, advocate the extermination of people of the Jewish faith and the subjugation of blacks, while the same amendment forbids our children from saying a prayer in school?
When a group of students at the Guilderland High School in Albany, New York, sought to use an empty classroom for voluntary prayer meetings, the 2d Circuit of Appeals said, "No." The court thought it might be dangerous because students might be coerced into praying if they saw the football captain or student body president participating in prayer meetings.
Then there was the case of the kindergarten class reciting a verse before their milk and cookies.

I don't know anything about you personally.
I don't know if you are writing these articles on the whims of your own thoughts. Or if, like me, you sometimes write in code, me mostly for myself, sometimes to people that I suspect are reading everything I write.
I'm writing now to make a literal suggestion.
Take your own advice.
Be your own guide.
Stop perpetuating that ridiculous superstitious myth about your Imaginary Friend that you call Jesus Christ. Don't peddle the False Hope of scam artists that only want to boost the revenue at their Jesus Store.
Still reading this note and my opinion?
Is your psychological Denial still letting you hear a rational opinion that contradicts your superstition?
My suggestion is to stop perpetuating that ridiculous notion that we are "put here".
Nobody, imaginary or real, "put" us here.
We simply exist.
We exist because that's how it all worked out.
Stop for a moment to consider the deep and vast history of this planet Earth, this place you self-righteously claim to care about, presumably, as you zip around in your poison-spewing automobile every day.
We exist on this planet for one simple fact: natural variability.
This planet has been cranking out life for billions of years.
Over and over some new lifeform crawled from the mud and thrived. Or didn't thrive.
That little voice in your head telling you you're special in the vast Universe your dim-mind is only vaguely aware of? That's nothing. That's just chemical molecules.
In the vast and deep history of this planet Earth, nature finally cranked out a species that seems to have won the lottery in terms of intelligence.
But that doesn't seem very true to me.
Doesn't seem true when I hear someone who claims to be intelligent but yet bolsters idiotic superstition invented by cavemen.
Cavemen, like all Believers of Superstitious Jesus Christ garbage, in this Common Era of Gullibility, were cowardly terrified of mortality.
So they had to psychological compensate for their terror.
Necessity is the mother of invention, someone once said.

A very detailed dream about being on a Luge course at an Olympic competition. I can remember that I made two timed runs through the course. I can remember very clearly the first part of the course going down a large hill and going very fast. But the weird part is that I was going backwards and that I had to make a 90-degree turn about half-way through the course, which was very tricky. There was a wall there at the turn that I would have hit if I hadn't got it right. I can remember making course adjustment to my sled as I was traveling backwards and approaching the turn that would be to my left as my back was to it and it was a turn that I couldn't even actually see. I can remember that my time was in the range of 13-something, which I guess means the course took me over 13 minutes. I had no idea if that was good enough time to earn a gold medal. Then I was back at the course start I guess to make a third run. But I didn't see any point to it so I went into some kind of nearby building to return my sled. But at that point, my sled was some kind of copper-colored rocket. There were three people in the room and one was Thedia. Another was a woman I remember as Donna, who was friend of Thedia's when we lived in that rented house on Dequincy in De Queen. I don't know who was the 3rd person as he was talking to Donna and had his back to me. I went back outside to make my third and final run and I remember that Donna was announcing my name over the PA but she kept getting my middle name wrong. First she called me Kerry Abner Burgess and then she called me Kerry Charlie Burgess, and she was saying something else but I think at the end, she just like the mike open and wasn't saying anything. I was at the start of the Luge course while she was talking and I was configuring my sled but now it included a chair from a kitchen table. It seemed that the chair would drag behind me on ropes. Instead of having the chair with its back flat to the ice while the legs were horizontal to the ice, the back of the chair was vertical to the ice while the legs were horizontal to the ice. Throughtout the dream, I have the indescribable sense of the blue sky, which I can almost visualize and which I could seen parts of the horizon of the sky and their is some indescribable notion connected to that visualization about jet aircraft.

In the recent hour I started to wonder about the interstate highway number for the town of George in Washington State. Although I have driven an automobile through that area several times in interstate highway I-90 I had no idea what was even the range of numbers for that interstate exit. I started to wonder if the interstate exit number was "13-something."
I looked it up on the map and it is not "13-something" and is instead exit 149. So I started to wonder if there was anything at the "13-something" mileposts and there it was. The interstate highway I-90 exit 136 is for Vantage Washington. This is the point where the Vantage Bridge crosses off the Columbia River. And then when you are driving on the interstate towards the town of George which isn't very far away, you cross the river and then you make an almost ninety turn to the north.
