Mission to Mars

:04:04
Who's gonna read
to me now at bed time ?

:04:08
Your mother will.

:04:13
But... I like
when you do it.

:04:16
- Now we're never gonna finish our book.
- Bobby.

:04:20
Listen, I've been thinking
about that too, okay ?

:04:24
And what I figured out was--

:04:26
How about if I bring along
my own copy ?

:04:29
Then, every night, wherever I am,
I'll read a little bit more ofit.

:04:33
And you and Mommy can read a little bit
more of it wherever you are.

:04:37
It'll be kind of like we're reading it
together. 'Cause I don't know about you,

:04:41
but I'm kind of anxious
to find out how old Ben Gunn
got marooned on that island.

The Skeleton Key (2005)

Caroline Ellis: [reading from Treasure Island] I lost no time, of course, in telling my mother all that I knew, and we saw ourselves at once in a difficult and dangerous position. Something must speedily be resolved upon, and it occurred to us at last to go forth together and seek help in the neighboring hamlet. No sooner said than done. Bare-headed as we were, we ran out at once into the gathering evening and the frosty fog. The hamlet lay not many hundred yards away, though out of view on the other side of the next cove, and what greatly encouraged me, it was in an opposite direction from that whence the blind man had made his appearance. And I shall never forget how much I was cheered to see the yellow shine in the doors and windows; but that, as it proved, was the best of the help we were likely to get in that quarter. For you would have thought men would have been ashamed of themselves; no soul would consent to return with us to the

A series of scenes in the dream just now about football. The notion of Princeton University was strongly present in those series of scenes where I seemed to be on a football team but I think something is askew to all that, in that my soccer team is mixed in to those scenes and I was confusing it with my actual participation on an American football team at U.S. Naval Academy. I did see a scene about a football kicker during an American football game. There was a lot of detail I can still visualize but I do not feel all that compelled to describe the scenes. In the next series of scenes though, I seemed to be walking through an open field and there is a paved road running off to my left and there is open field as far as I can see to the other side of it and I guess to my right side although most of the dream seems to visualize over to what was initially my left-side of visualization. Just after that visualization started, and I note that it seems to be chronologically after the series of football scenes, I saw the Four Horsemen of The Apocalypse in that field on the other side of the paved road and to my minor annoyance, they started charging in my direction and I can visualize that lead Horsemen, but I am left with the vague sense that the Four of them were actually cows that had turned to charge at me. I did some fancy maneuvering and got them going in circles because I could maneuver better than they could but at some point I realized that I was not going to be able to keep that tactic up for very long. As I visualize that scene again now that I am awake, they seemed to have surrounded me. In the next scene though I seemed to have broke away from the Four Bovine of The Apocalypse and I was running flat out across the field at a 45 degree angle ahead of my original line-of-sight and direction of travel and I am vaguely aware of something ahead of me but I cannot visualize it well enough or remember it well enough to describe. I can remember that I turned around as I was running and threw something back at the lead Cow of The Apocalypse and I struck it squarely on the head and it dropped dead right there on the spot. At that point, I seemed to look back at a bale of hay in the middle of the field, which was the only one in sight, and I thought to myself that I should have stayed near that bale of hay because it was a piece of that bale that I killed the lead Cow of The Apocalypse. But I was still running in that same direction and I cannot really visualize the other Cows of The Apocalypse althought I guess they were back there somewhere in the dust the first Cow kicked up in a field that did not seem that dusty. The detail become very vague at the point where the dreams ends and I vaguely aware of something about how I could get help in fighting off those other three Cows of The Apocalypse if I said I "believed" and so I did say I believed and then I saw something that I can only describe now vaguely and one of those wagonwheeled-transports, that I think had names such as Conestoga, come traveling by me out in the direction of the other Cows and the wagon seemed to be covered in fire. I think I had stopped running at that point and there are other details about the surroundings that I can still visualize but not well enough to describe and I am left to ponder where I was. As I was writing all this, I remembered there was another series of scenes before the series of scenes about American football and I am left only with the sense of being compelled to remember those scenes and while I can visualize certain details, such as being in a supermarket, I cannot remember enough detail to articulate. I am not certain if those first scenes are connected to the next scenes about the football.

but other times I think he was organic and then that leads me to thinking about how I wonder what is the real difference which then leads me to think about how that devalues life itself, or at least, those of use who have been duplicated. So the clone of me the clone shows up and he gives me instructions that he types out on a non-internet and non-wireless equipped computer and from those instructions I know where to find the teleportation device that will transport me into the virtual world that belongs to me, which I have been thinking for a while, contains no mirrors and there is nothing in there where I can see my reflection. So I go to that transportation device and I read through the instructions for activating it and a new aspect of the process, which I now think of from "The Terminator" is that I have to take off all my clothes before I am transported and then I am transported to my virtual world. The reason for the clothes is simply that, for me, there are factors constructed into the virtual world that creates a minor sense of hardship and indeed when I transport I am in the same location where the device is stored but there are no clothes there, or any people for that matter, and I have to walk outside in the freezing rain to find shelter. I am transported to the same location I remember but many of the buildings and structures that I would see at that location are gone in the virtual world. The road is still there but there are power lines or gas stations or many other structures that are useless in that virtual world. There are automobiles but only in new car lots and they don't require gasoline.

Sometimes yesterday, either as I was sleeping or as I was trying to go to sleep, I was having a series of imaginative thoughts and I was in some kind of small hallway that reminds me of the "Hiro" scenes in this episode tonight. One end of the hallway was where I came into the hallway and the other side was one of those teleportation portals which I was thinking was a mirror that is physically a mirror until it becomes a portal that can be stepped into. I thought along this line for a long time. The sequence started and I was imagining that I took the metro bus back to the building with the US Navy has a presence and that was across the street from the block with the

building. I was going there because I had been somehow signalled to go there and I did not know consciously what I was doing but my objective was simple enough that I guess I was simply following my instincts. I went into the building, took the elevator up to another floor, a guard asked me for my I.D. and I showed him my driver's license and then I either went into another room or I stood there at a retina scan device that let me into another elevator that I took and that elevator led me to the hallway where I had some instructions and another simple objective which I will not describe here but that was consistent with other details in the episode. Then I went through the portal and it teleported me, much as finding myself in a fast-moving stream of water where my vision was momentarily blurred, and I found myself standing back on the sidewalk in front of that building preceded by the smallest jolt as though I had just landed on the sidewalk from about an inch or few inches above. I went to that coffee shop nearby I used to go to and I was going to stay there and in that area although I could go anywhere but the point of staying there is that while the world was now empty for my and quiet and peaceful and pleasant it was that from that coffee shop that I could view the television news for 7 days after the point I went through the portal. After that seven days I would not again have such real television or even the internet for the entire time I was in that empty and peaceful world

Just before I awoke, I was dreaming of standing on the bridge of a U.S. Navy Los Angeles-class attack submarine. I cannot remember any details that identified which one. I guess it could have been the lead boat itself and that is why I remember the detail about Los Angeles. So I was on the bridge of the submarine, which was not entirely realistic now that I think about it although I could have been somewhere in the top of the sail structure but even that does not seem correct. So anyway, the boat was adrift for some reason and I was the only standing there in the bridge or control room or where ever it was I found myself after I seemed to walk into that area for some reason that I do not remember from the dream. I called for the commanding officer to return to that control room and I think he did but those details are too vague now to remember. At some point, I left that submarine and I crossed over to what seemed to be ballistic missile submarine and I was trying to find my way to the brow so I could return to the pier but I was having trouble finding my way around because sailors were painting the decks in the area where I jumped onto the ballistic missile submarine and it seems from the dream that I simply jumped over on the deck as the other submarine passed by. I was wearing the khaki working uniform of a U.S. Navy officer and I remember during the dream that I saw my reflection in a mirror on a bulkhead. As I was walking around that ballistic missile submarine I finally found an area that was being prepped for painting but did not have any wet paint on it so I made my way through there and that seemed to be the point where I was going to find my way to the brow and then to the pier but I don't remember that part from the dream. The last part of the dream was something about one of the sailors that was painting the deck was complaining about me walking across the deck and I am left with some uncertainty about whether I reprimanded that sailor for talking that way to an officer or whether I walked on and let it slide. I think I did, or was intending to, reprimanding him verbally for his comments to an officer.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympian_spirits

Olympian spirits

Olympian spirits (or Olympic spirits, Olympick spirits) refers to seven (or sometimes fourteen) spirits mentioned in several renaissance and post-renaissance books of ritual magic/ceremonial magic, such as the Arbatel de magia veterum

In ritual magic, the seven Olympian spirits are not confused with the seven traditional archangels, which usually are Michael (usually the Sun), Anael (Venus), Raphael (usually Mercury), Gabriel (the Moon), Cassiel (Saturn), Samael (Mars), and Zadkiel (Jupiter), or a variation thereof.

The seven Olympian spirits are often invoked in conjunction with the seven classic archangels, and magic seals often associate one of the classic seven with one of the Olympian spirits. For example, a magic seal from The Complete Book of Magic Science (1573) shows the form of a seal which binds a spirit of Jupiter, Pabiel, to the magician: Pabiel's name appears in a band stretched between two circles

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grimoire

Grimoire

A grimoire is a textbook of magic. Such books typically include instructions on how to create magical objects like talismans and amulets, how to perform magical spells, charms and divination and also how to summon or invoke supernatural entities such as angels, spirits, and demons. In many cases the books themselves are also believed to be imbued with magical powers, though in many cultures other sacred texts that are not grimoires, such as the Bible and Qur'an, have also been believed to intrinsically have magical properties; in this manner whilst all books on magic could be thought of as grimoires, not all magical books could.

Whilst the term grimoire is originally European, and many Europeans throughout history, particularly ceremonial magicians and cunning folk, have made use of grimoires, the historian Owen Davies noted that similar such books can be found all across the world, ranging from Jamaica to Sumatra, and he also noted that the first such grimoires could be found not in Europe but in the Ancient Near East.

It is most commonly believed that the term grimoire originated from the Old French word grammaire, which had initially been used to refer to all books written in Latin. By the 18th century, the term had gained its now commonly used usage in France, and had begun to be used to refer purely to books of magic, which Owen Davies presumed was because "many of them continued to circulate in Latin manuscripts." However, the term grimoire also later developed into a figure of speech indicating something that was hard or even impossible to understand amongst the French. It was only in the 19th century, with the increasing interest in occultism amongst the British following the publication of Francis Barrett's The Magus (1801), that the term entered the English language in reference to books of magic.

JOURNAL ARCHIVE: 08/27/09 4:13 PM
A dream just before waking up that I only now feel compelled to note in my journal so much of the sequence of the dream is a lot more vague. The basic dream was that I was wearing a U.S. Navy uniform. I seemed to be wearing the U.S. Navy tropical white uniform. At one point, I was walking up a set of stairs inside a building and I looked over to my right should and I saw the silver bars of a U.S. Navy lieutenant on the epulet of the black jacket I was wearing. But there was also an element during the dream that my name was Kerry Burgess and I had a document that had my name on it and it suggested that Kerry Burgess was going as the identity of another enlisted U.S. Navy sailor. I am not certain how that specific perception fits into the sequence of the scenes in the dream that I remember. The sequence seems to be that I have walked up the stairs and I think that was a bar on a U.S. military base that I was at. I had taken off my jacket and I guess I must have seen myself in a mirror because I was aware that I was wearing a large number of U.S. military ribbons on my uniform and I noted specifically that I was wearing a ribbon for one Medal of Honor and a ribbon for one Navy Cross medal. I had several other rows of ribbons and I remember thinking to myself that I was not wearing all the other ribbons I had been awarded that are mostly for service in the U.S. Navy fleet although I cannot remember thinking of any specific ribbons and the associated medal, if any. I remember drinking a shot of whiskey and I was also drinking a beer. A woman was talking to me but that part is vague. Maybe she was the waitress, although I was standing at the bar. The next part seems to be after I had left the bar and I was back in some building that I guess was an office and residential building there on the base. I saw a people around but there was only one person I recognized and he was busy at some paperwork and we didn't say anything to each other as I passed his desk. Then I am in some other room and I have this very vague feeling that I had been climbing over boxes in the room and because it is with a less vague observation that the room was very cluttered with storage boxes and filing cabinets and other storage containers. I quickly found the box I was looking for though and I took out of the box the Trident badge that is awarded to all U.S. Navy SEAL's.
