[ Tom Eckert: ] Boys. If youre out there, if you can hear me, listen up. It's a tough situation all the way around. A lot of tough choices. I love you both. I hope you know that. What I'm going to ask you to do may be very difficult, but I want you boys to do what I would do. I want you to go to war and stop this piece of shit. Or die trying.

Adolf Hitler - excerptions of speeches at the Party Congress in Nuremberg

(1-3.09.1933)

Adolf Hitler’s proclamation was read at the opening of the Party Congress.

September 1, 1933

Power and the brutal use of force can accomplish much, but in the long run, no state of affairs is secure unless it appears logical in and of itself and intellectually irrefutable. And above all: the National Socialist Movement must profess its faith in the heroism which prefers any degree of opposition and hardship to even once denying the principles it has recognized as right. It may be filled only by a single fear, namely that one day a time might come when we are accused of insincerity or thoughtlessness. The heroic idea must, however, be constantly willing to renounce the approval of the present if sincerity and truth so require.

Just as the hero has renounced his life to live on in the Pantheon of history, so must a truly great movement perceive in the rightness of its concept, in the sincerity of its actions the talisman which will safely lead it from a transient present to an immortal future.

The Führer’s words against the modern art

September 1, 1933

The fact that something has never existed before is no proof for the quality of an accomplishment; it can just as easily be evidence for an inferiority which has never existed prior thereto. Thus if a so-called artist perceives his sole purpose in life as presenting the most confusing and incomprehensible portrayals of the accomplishments of the past or the present, the actual accomplishments of the past will nevertheless remain accomplishments, while the artistic stammerings of the painting, music, sculpture, and architecture produced by these types of charlatans will one day be nothing but proof of the magnitude of a nation’s downfall.

Adolf Hitler: A Psychological Interpretation of His Views on Architecture ...

By Sherree Owens Zalampas

The Imposition of Hitler's Artistic Taste

Page 71

Hitler himself never publicly criticized modern architecture before 1933. It was in a speech before the Party Congress on September 1, 1933, that he first condemned "those who think that the representatives of the cultural decadence...can be the standard bearers of the future" He stated that "today's tasks require new methods."

I may have fought in the Vietnam war more than I understand. The thought occurs to me that I was going over there every summer break from Princeton University. It's all jumbled in my mind though. I want to say that I was in that POW camp, but I was also in some kind of civilian re-education camp. They had a large movie screen, just like in "Red Dawn." The thoughts occur to me that I organized the people in that re-education camp and we broke out.

That detail about the drawing by Petr Ginz on the ill-fated space shuttle flight STS-107 reminds me of a time I sitting in the UW Medical Center a couple years ago just after I became homeless. I was being treated there in the mental health unit before they transferred me to the VA hospital. I was in the mental health unit because I had gone again to the police for assistance. The problem is they never even asked me any questions. I went to the police several times and they never actually asked me any questions. They just took me to the hospital where then I was drugged up. The doctors drugged me up and they listened but they were not actually listening to what I had to say. So anyway, there was one day at UW Medical Center and I was sitting in a room with a group of other patients. One of the staff brought out some colored pencils and dark paper and suggested we draw something. She said to just draw anything you think of. I took one of those black pieces of paper and I drew an overhead view of the solar system, including the orbital paths of several planets. I told her when I was through that I should have drawn it larger because I couldn’t get as much detail in the drawing with it that small. If it had been larger, I could have illustrated how one of side of the planets was brighter than the other side because the sun was illuminating that side.

I had a dream last night that I was playing in a football game. I can only remember there were red jerseys on the players. The opposing teams were locked together on the line of scrimmage and I went around the scrimmage line where there were a lot of players clashed together but the line was fairly symmetrical, which isn't quite the description I am looking for here but it's close. So I went around the line of scrimmage and I made a touchdown. I didn't even have to catch the football; rather it was on the ground in front of me and I picked up or it was already waiting for me or something like that. Then I fired it back to the quarterback with great speed and accuracy and somebody said something after that, in a manner similar to what I used to write about as in foreign dreams. I can't remember now what it was that the person said but it might have been something about my passing skill. As in those foreign dreams, I never know who said that particular phrase.

What that scene in the dream I had a few hours ago, where I fired the football back to the quarterback
