Dear Kerry,
We have some apartments we rent on a six month minimum lease. They are our least expensive apartments, and are all furnished studio apartments. Our building is approximately twelve years old, and is located in downtown Seattle, about a block and a half from the Space Needle. Our apartments are all top notch as far as being very new, clean, safe and secure. They are all efficiencies (fairly small). They are all for single occupancy (guests are, of course, welcome, but no roommates).
Detective Joe Miller finds himself on a case involving two men that are found burned to death in a pawn shop, apparently involving a mysterious key and a deal gone bad. After receiving the key, Joe discovers that it is just one of nearly one hundred objects with supernatural powers and a link to a hidden motel room.

My Seattle Marathon race number, for the event I successfully completed on 30 November 2003, was the same as the room number they assigned to me at The Vermont Inn-Apartments in December 2006.
I didn't record the precise calendar date I moved in there. I know I was still living in that homeless shelter for veterans in Shoreline Washington State on Christmas Day 2006 but I was in the Vermont Inn-Apartments on New Years Eve 2006 because I remember sitting there on the roof-top deck and watching the fireworks from the Space Needle from about a block away.
The Space Needle was also the starting point and finishing point of the Seattle Marathon in 2003.
That Seattle Marathon race date was the same date listed for the premiere of the television movie "The Reagans" starring James Brolin in his portrayal of Ronald Reagan.
I was still a full-time employee of Microsoft Corporation at the time.
Only today did I notice that my bib number was the same. I found it online at the official site and then compared with email records I still have that contain my address at The Vermont.

I started the preliminary work on the content of this current note while working on the note immediately preceding. I had to force myself to cease finding more and more content for that earlier note and so I reluctantly decided to wait until later to finish it, with much of the content here collected and developed by me later.
I don't know who's reading my posts but I suspect you are too dim-witted to understand the significance.
And I'm okay with that. None of this has anything to do with those people. Except, of course, their susceptibility to the forces I *suspect* are going to take control of their minds. All of their minds.
Wouldn't that be nice, I have been thinking lately. I imagine a world where some sort of alien force has robbed all you 8 billion humans of your sense of self. Sounds brutal and horrendous, right? Because it's something that affects *you*. Otherwise, you wouldn't care. But in that world that began to form in my mind, I imagine the effect on this real world if all humans were somehow robbed of their free will and their sense of self. Certainly at least one mainstream author has written such fiction. In the version that formed in my mind, the masses are then tasked with improving the planet. They clean up all their pollution using mostly manual labor. Their sense of self is gone but the few of them with brilliant minds can still work on research and their research continues at even greater pace and breakthroughs are much more common. As for the pollution, the human race no longer needs all the stuff they want now. They can all eat the same bland food. The don't need all their junk manufactured. They don't need electricity in their homes at night, at least not as much. They work, they eat, they sleep, they work. And they work better because they have no sense of self. Eventually, they get it back, in terms of the generations that come later, the people born many years later became as self-aware as the people alive today. But only after the problems of today are permanently solved. The research solves pollution and overcrowding. Permanent expansion beyond Earth becomes possible and practical. All thanks to sacrifice of generations alive today and generations in the future. Support Our Human-Monkeys!

I have been trying to fall asleep for a while now but I don't feel the least bit sleepy and it is worse because my leg aches. So anyway, I just now suddenly remembered a dream I had just before waking up last time, or at I think it was just before waking up, but I know it was the last time I was asleep and I woke up I guess about 8:00 AM yesterday. There were several sequences in the dream but I only remember now this one scene that I wanted to write about after I got up. As I write this now I think to myself that I woke up after the dream I wanted to write about and I might have gone back to sleep for a short time because I was thinking about how I could no longer visualize the details I wanted to remember from the dream. The dream seemed to be of me in a bank and I was given a key to a safety deposity box and I could clearly see the four digit number on the key and then I could see that I was looking at a wall with the doors of a group of safety deposit boxes and one of those doors matched the number on the key. I found myself thinking after I woke up though that these setting seemed to precisely match what I would see if I was in a post office though and I even thought during the dream that whatever was in my safety deposit box was getting more packed because apparently information was being put into it and that matches precisely to a mailbox in a U.S. Post Office. But yet, the notion lingers that it had something to do with a safety deposit box and that remains as an important notion despite the fact that my visualizations seem to match with the post office. So I was standing there and I clearly saw the number on the key but there was some dialog in my mind that I was not going to open that box at that time and so I was walking through the notional bank office but that visually seemed to be a post office and I was going into another room and I cannot now remember what happened there. It seemed there was another storage locker that I was going in there for but I cannot remember anything else except some scenes as I walked around through the structures in that bank or post office. I found myself wondering several times after waking about that number on that key and I think it was '6943' but there was some uncertainty in my mind after waking up because I could no longer visualize it although I feel certain that I did visualize it clearly during the dream.

I dreamed just now of what seems to be the flight of the Stargazer aircraft on 6/27/1994 but the visualizations I assume are mostly just the product of a dream. As usual, there seem to be details that happened before the part I can remember enough to write about that I can not now remember. In the dream, I was onboard that aircraft and we were traveling along towards the point where we would deploy the rocket as it fired and traveled towards space. All I can really visualize though is that the aircraft seemed to be invisible. To me at least. I have the sense that other people could see it. We also were no high over the ground but we were very close to the ground and we were traveling at a rate of motion that did not seem very fast. This all was taking a long time too. I kept expecting the rocket to depart from the aircraft but it did not. I can see the terrain very well. There seemed to be people on the ground looking up and to watch us fly over. We were at another point so close the ground above a highway that I saw a woman in a police car looking up at the sky and I think she was watching us fly over. I think it was before that we were flying over new terrain and I was marveling at the color of the foliage of the trees and it might have seemed that I could even touch the trees with my feet. I remember that very well. But that part is disorienting. It is as though I was standing very close to a wall but then that wall was not actually there and what I saw in front of me was the sky and terrain and everything associated with flying in that aircraft above the ground. It seemed I was talking to the other two men on the aircraft flight deck just then and I become slightly aware as I think about the dream of equipment and instruments around me although that could be the last part. I do have the sense they are wearing uniforms and I think I am too. I am in the middle and I seem to be talking to the guy on my right. Then the part with the woman in the police car seems to happen and then we travel over an area where the terrain drops suddenly and I am marveling at that because I can clearly see everything directly below us. Just because the drop I commented to the guy on my left, who might have actually been me, that there was a stop sign on the road below us at what seemed to be a T-intersection. We seemed to have been following the highway and the highway ended at that intersection with the other highway running perpendicular to it but we continued on a straight line and that was when I saw the terrain drop sharply below us. I commented to the guy to my left who I guess was the pilot about that stop sign below and I cannot now remember our exact words but he responded to me with something about how that was my name on that stop sign and I wish I could remember better that scene from the dream although that was basically the important part. So I think this part is when the rocket was supposed to transfer to space but that is not really clear anymore. What I do remember is that now I am clinging to the side of a mountain and I have no idea where I am although I still have an association in my mind that I was on that aircraft I have been writing about. It is as though I was on the side of that mountain because I had been attached to a rope that was attached to that aircraft and the aircraft had been traveling along with me on that rope. I don't really understand enough to explain what I feel was going on in this part. I don't know. Maybe it doesn't matter. I remember the ground was very steep and I remember there was snow and I seemed to be examining the snow-covered foliage and I am aware of how steep the ground is and I am concerned because I no longer am connected to that aircraft by the rope. I am stuck there on the ground and I have no idea where I am or how to get back to anywhere. I can see what seems to be a level portion of the ground and I guess it is a trail. I can also see a window of a building and it really seems out of place because a consistent thought is that I might as well be on Mount Everest right now but that doesn't really make any sense because I remember seeing all those signs of civilization we flew over. So anyway, I am still lying on or clinging to the mountain in the same position but I am looking at the window and I can visualize it well and I can see the various details of the configuration and I am wondering if I can slide through that window or if it is too small for me to get through. There seems to be no other place to go than through that window where it looks warm and cozy and I see no other signs of civilization other than that window. Then I seem to have made it through the window and I am vaguely aware of being inside the business that runs there and I vaguely recall talking to someone but I cannot remember enough about that conversation to articulate. What seems to happened was that I explained that I was lost from that flight and what they seemed to have done is to put me on a shuttle bus for a hotel and they sent me to a hotel where I can stay. I am aware that I have access to my funds but that is only a notion. I have only the clothes on my back and I am still confused about where I am. I am aware of another person on the bus and I can visualize the we got to the hotel while riding that bus and I can visualize walking through some parts of that hotel and I see that I walked into the registration lobby but then I turned around and walked back out without registering and I am not certain what I was going to do. I still have no idea where I am. I am thinking that the people I was with will probably look for me and I think that if I use my bank card they will know where I am on the ground. I think that was the end. I think the dream ended after I walked back outside the hotel and I was standing outside looking around. I can vaguely visualize the surroundings but I have no idea where it was.

I had a dream the other night that would suggest I was walking through solid object, although I do not recall if I actually did in the dream. The wall in that apartment had become some kind of transparent. I wrote about that dream and I wrote about how it seemed that I was flying on the so-called "Stargazer" L-1011 just before it crashed and I was sitting in a seat behind the pilot, which was actually me. I wrote about some other scenes in the dream and then flying over a stop sign in a road, which was a T-junction and of how we flew over the section of road that ended at the T-junction and that reminded me of that lyric about missing the sign which led to a turn for the worse. The pilot turned his head back towards me although he did not turn around far enough to look at me and he said something about how that sign had my name on it. It was after we flew past the stop sign and over that perpendicular road at the T-junction that the ground dropped off sharply below our flight path and then I found myself clinging to the top of a snow-covered mountain and I was looking at the details off a window where I was going to crawl through and out of the cold. I wrote about how from there, after some vague interaction with the people in that office or auto parts store through the window, I rode some kind of shuttle bus to a hotel and there was some further vague interactions and I do not think I actually checked into the hotel. I cannot remember what happened after that. I think it was well before all this, possibly during a sequence on the L-1011 and before I started about here, that I saw the transparent wall in my room at the Vermont.

Walter Schottky, (born July 23, 1886, Zürich, Switz.—died March 4, 1976, Pretzfeld, W.Ger.), German physicist whose research in solid-state physics and electronics yielded many devices that now bear his name.
Schottky obtained doctorates in engineering, technology, and natural sciences from the University of Berlin, where he conducted research under Max Planck. Iran conducted a third rocket launch Thursday, but satellite imagery of the launch suggests the country's latest attempt to put a satellite in orbit has ended in failure, NPR reports.
The rocket apparently blew up on the launch pad. It marks the third failed attempt this year. Launches in January and February were both unsuccessful, with something going wrong in flight.
The US has previously warned Iran against engaging in such activities while expressing concerns that the rocketry required to put a satellite in space could be used to develop long-range ballistic missiles to deliver nuclear warheads.

Satellite images from Iran's latest rocket launch suggest that the rocket blew up on the launch pad, marking the country's third failed launch this year.
Photos from Thursday's launch provided to NPR by Planet Labs show smoke rising up from the Imam Khomeini Space Center. "This look likes the space launch vehicle blew up on the launch pad," Dave Schmerler, a senior research associate at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, told NPR.
Iran, despite warnings from the US, has tried on three separate occasions this year to put a satellite into orbit, but every attempt has so far ended in failure.
In mid-January, the rocket intended to carry a satellite into space but failed to reach the "necessary speed" during the later stages of flight, NBC reported at the time, citing Telecommunications Minister Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi's comments to Iranian state media. He did not clarify exactly what went wrong but stressed that Iran would continue its work.
That failed attempt followed multiple warnings from the US urging the Iranians not to follow through on its plans. The US believes that the rocketry required to put a satellite into space could be used to develop long-range ballistic missiles capable of delivering a nuclear warhead to a foreign target.
President Donald Trump has said that Iran's space program could help it "pursue intercontinental ballistic missile capability."
Iran conducted another launch in early February. In an interview with NBC, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif admitted the attempt ended in failure as well. In the wake of that failure, The New York Times reported that the US might be sabotaging the program.
"It's quite possible. We don't know yet," Zarif said. "We need to look into it very carefully." Expert observers have expressed skepticism of claims that Iranian satellite launch failures are attributable to a covert US sabotage campaign.
After the second failed test, Schmerler told NPR that this is "trial and error," adding that "eventually, they're going to get it right." The latest embarrassing launch suggests that Iran still has a little more work to do to make that happen.

The Running Man
I have always read a lot, since I was a kid. When I was in the Navy I read a lot of books when we were out to sea and one of my favorites authors during that time was Stephen King, not to mention Tom Clancy and Louis L'Amour.
One of King's book that has been on my mind a lot over these past few years is The Running Man. You may have seen the movie, but the book is a lot different and I think a much better work. Anyway, there have also been a lot of similarities between my experience over the past few years and that of the protagonist character in the book.
One notable event happened a few years ago when I was still working with Microsoft, although was soon to quit, and I was living in an apartment in Redmond. Noises bother me a lot and the people in the apartment above me were causing quit a commotion. It sounded like they had a lot of people in there and they were all stomping around. I went up there and knocked on the door. Before they opened it, I heard someone on the other side say, "Shh, it's the running man."

I had some specific thoughts that might have been actual memories of when I was in the hospital in 1987 after I was rescued. I imagined or remembered that Phoebe was there and that she met me at the hospital at a U.S. military base in Germany and she stayed there with me at my side in the hospital. I was delirious for a while, days perhaps or even weeks, but eventually I recognized her. The nurses coming into my room at night would scare the hell out of me. When I was lost in Africa, noises in the pitch black night did not startle me so much because being startled and jumping around would not have helped the situation, especially because I usually slept at night in trees, if there were any around. After I was delirious though, I was in pretty bad shape and really had no idea what was happening.

Richard Welsh, a professional skydiver who was celebrating his 29th birthday, was killed by an accident blamed on his habit of screaming while pretending to fall off of an airplane and on the fact that he had no pocket on his outfit. Lacking a pocket, Welsh had clinched the handle of his parachute's ripcord between his teeth, but when he opened his mouth as he fell, the cord flew over his shoulder. As he fell 3,000 feet to his death, Welsh was seen "groping desperately all the way down" trying to grab the cord to open the chute; his body, along with his unopened parachute, was found in the backyard of a home in Delhi Township, Michigan.

A defence mechanism is an unconscious psychological mechanism that reduces anxiety arising from unacceptable or potentially harmful stimuli.
Defence mechanisms may result in healthy or unhealthy consequences depending on the circumstances and frequency with which the mechanism is used. In psychoanalytic theory, defence mechanisms are psychological strategies brought into play by the unconscious mind to manipulate, deny, or distort reality in order to defend against feelings of anxiety and unacceptable impulses and to maintain one's self-schema or other schemas. These processes that manipulate, deny, or distort reality may include the following: repression, or the burying of a painful feeling or thought from one's awareness even though it may resurface in a symbolic form; identification, incorporating an object or thought into oneself; and rationalization, the justification of one's behaviour and motivations by substituting "good" acceptable reasons for the actual motivations. In psychoanalytic theory, repression is considered as the basis for other defence mechanisms.
Healthy persons normally use different defences throughout life. An ego defence mechanism becomes pathological only when its persistent use leads to maladaptive behaviour such that the physical or mental health of the individual is adversely affected. Among the purposes of ego defence mechanisms is to protect the mind/self/ego from anxiety or social sanctions or to provide a refuge from a situation with which one cannot currently cope.

A kleptocracy (sometimes cleptocracy) (root: klepto+kratein = rule by thieves) is a government that extends the personal wealth and political power of government officials and the ruling class (collectively, kleptocrats) at the expense of the population. A kleptocratic government often goes beyond merely awarding the prime contracts and civil service posts to friends (a common feature of corrupt governments[citation needed]). They also create projects and programs at a policy level which serve the primary purpose of funnelling money out of the treasury and into the pockets of the executive with little if any regard for the logic, viability or necessity of those projects.
The creation of a kleptocracy powered by dictatorship typically results in many years of general hardship and suffering for the vast majority of citizens, as civil society and the rule of law disintegrate. In addition, kleptocrats routinely ignore economic and social problems in their quest to amass ever more wealth and power.
The protection society has against kleptocracy is largely dependent on the effectiveness of the rule of law to prevent political leaders abusing their powers, the free flow of information (necessary to properly identify kleptocrats) and ability of the population to remove corrupt leaders from office. Many such protections are included in legal documents such as a constitution or a bill of rights and are also found in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 17. Many countries have these protections, on paper; in many cases, the rules have not been enforced.

Like innocents ambling about, just waiting to be victimized by the latest in promotional panhandling, we go through life bombarded with dubious pitches for everything from anti-aging creams to Cubic Zirconia.
But most-and maybe all-previous commercial efforts pale in comparison to the buildup for Thursday's worldwide launch of Windows 95, the revolutionary new personal computer operating system from the software giant Microsoft Corp., which is touting it like Wonder Bread.
I noted earlier in a blog post that my blog is boring.
I started reading it one day recently while trying to maintain the mindset of a person who had just started reading my blog.
People are going to read one blog post and if they continue then presumably they will click the link at the bottom of the page at the end of the blog post.
One of those links reads "Newer Post" and the other one reads "Older Post." In the middle of those two links is one that read "Home" and that will take you to the page with the latest blog post on it.
So anyway, I was reading back and I thought to myself that my blog is incredibly boring.
But then I got to a post where I reference biological data about Microsoft Bill Gates, specifically about "Jennifer" and "Phoebe," and then suddenly it is not so boring.

Sheriff Reichert became the public face of the sensational arrest of the serial killer by elbowing his way in front of the cameras on November 30, 2001 when the sensational collar was announced.
Everyone knows Reichert is the guy who caught the Green River killer, because he reminds us in every introduction; every speech, interview, and on his website.
It helped get him elected in 2004 in his race against KIRO radio host, Dave Ross; and he still flogs it every time he opens his mouth....
For a significant portion of his law enforcement career, he worked as the lead investigator on the Green River serial killer case in which 49 young women were murdered during the 1980s – the most prolific serial murder case in U.S. history. Synopsis
The book takes place in France during World War I and stretches through the course of one week in 1918. Corporal Stephan, who represents the reincarnation of Jesus, orders 3,000 troops to disobey orders to attack in the brutally repetitive trench warfare. In return, the Germans do not attack, and the war stops when soldiers realize that it takes two sides to fight a war. The Generalissimo, who represents leaders who use war to gain power, invites his German counterpart to discuss how to restart the war. He then arrests and executes Stefan. Before Stefan's execution, the Generalissimo tries to convince the corporal that war can never be stopped because it is the essence of human nature.
Following the execution of the Corporal, his body is returned to his wife and his sisters, and he is buried in Vienne-la-pucelle. However, after the conflict has resumed, the Corporal's grave is destroyed in a barrage of artillery. The spirit of the Corporal has transferred to a British message runner, who eventually confronts the old Generalissimo.

Summary: Controlled flight into terrain due to pilot error, 72-day survival
Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 was a chartered flight that crashed on a glacier in the remote Andes in 1972. Among the 45 people on board, 28 survived the crash. Facing starvation and death, the survivors reluctantly resorted to cannibalism. After 72 days on the glacier, 16 people were rescued.
The flight carrying 19 members of a rugby team, family, supporters, and friends originated in Montevideo, Uruguay and was headed for Santiago, Chile. While crossing the Andes, the inexperienced co-pilot who was in command mistakenly believed they had reached Curicó, Chile, despite instrument readings indicating otherwise. He turned north and began to descend towards what he thought was Pudahuel Airport. Instead, the aircraft struck the mountain, shearing off both wings and the rear of the fuselage. The forward part of the fuselage careened down a steep slope like a toboggan and came to rest on a glacier. Three crew members and more than a quarter of the passengers died in the crash, and several others quickly succumbed to cold and injuries.
On the tenth day after the crash, the survivors learned from a transistor radio that the search had been called off. Faced with starvation and death, those still alive agreed that should they die, the others might consume their bodies in order to live. With no choice, the survivors ate the bodies of their dead friends.

I don't remember when I first read this. But it sure resonates with me. It is even ironic the part about May. If I'm not mistaken, it was May 31 when I gave up my apartment. I want to sit down and try to write out as much of a timeline after that as possible, but I can't remember a lot of the details, although I knew all along that my tormentors knew exactly what I was doing and where I was located every minute of every one of those days. And so in this message below, he is talking basically about how people can talk about being your friend, but it is when the world throws you down into some really dark place, it is your friends that are going to be there with you.

SEATTLE — The Green River killer, Gary Leon Ridgway, wiped tears from his eyes Thursday as he apologized for killing 48 women and causing "so much pain to so many families." But his emotion did not deter the judge from sentencing the former truck painter to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
SEATTLE - Life for Gary Ridgway in prison is likely to be a life lived under a microscope, but that may be the only way for him to survive.
"He's afraid for his future in prison," said King County sheriff's Detective Frank Spence, a member of the Green River Task Force. "He's said that before."
Ridgway's fear may be well founded, as more than one relative speaking at his sentencing Thursday expressed the hope he would be killed in prison. One went so far as to say she knew people in prison who would do it.
"I think he would be dead in a month if they put him in the general population," said Tony Savage, one of Ridgway's attorneys, adding that he's confident the Washington State Department of Corrections officials "will do their best to make sure he's safe."
Officials won't give out transportation schedules, but, after he was sentenced, Ridgway was returned to the custody of the King County Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention.
Officials expect Ridgway to be classified as a close-security inmate.
As such, he can expect to be under visual supervision at all times, even if he's in the general population.

Somewhere I wrote at least once and do not now want to waste more time searching for the reference where I elaborated on that day. Thedia's friend, possibly no more a child herself and living for the first time alone, hired me possibly as cheap labor to paint the house she rented. I can almost still sometimes smell the fumes of that paint I slathered on those sheet rock walls. She paid me $20 dollars and that was how I bought that Estes model rocket.

And too add on that is my memory of about the year 1978. Theda was married to Randy Romine at the time and at his house he had a really tall High Amplitude Modulation tower antenna. I climbed it often in the dark of night and I used it sometimes to drop my "R2-D2" model rocket to test its parachute. I couldn't afford the Estes chemical rockets back then so the only way it could get airborne was for me to drop it from the high altitude of that tower.

I need to think back more to my hobby as a kid with model rockets from Estes. There are probably some notable clues to that. I remember the first time I launched a multi-stage rocket. I was in a hurry to launch it after constructing it and did not give the glue enough time to dry. I launched it from the practice field at that elementary school in De Queen.
The second stage didn't separate.
Can't remember how much damage occurred from the main stage burning into the second stage.

In physics, chemistry, and electronic engineering, an electron hole (often simply called a hole) is the lack of an electron at a position where one could exist in an atom or atomic lattice. Since in a normal atom or crystal lattice the negative charge of the electrons is balanced by the positive charge of the atomic nuclei, the absence of an electron leaves a net positive charge at the hole's location.
Holes in a metal or semiconductor crystal lattice can move through the lattice as electrons can, and act similarly to positively-charged particles. They play an important role in the operation of semiconductor devices such as transistors, diodes and integrated circuits. If an electron is excited into a higher state it leaves a hole in its old state.
Role in semiconductor technology
In most semiconductors, the effective mass of a hole is much larger than that of an electron. This results in lower mobility for holes under the influence of an electric field and this may slow down the speed of the electronic device made of that semiconductor. This is one major reason for adopting electrons as the primary charge carriers, whenever possible in semiconductor devices, rather than holes. Also, why NMOS logic is faster than PMOS logic.
However, in many semiconductor devices, both electrons and holes play an essential role. Examples include p–n diodes, bipolar transistors, and CMOS logic.
