During my waking hours sitting here at this desk, I'm often scanning the news headlines on the sites I track on the internet.
One of the topics that I've seen come up a few times lately are articles from seemingly credible news sources that talk about the archaeological search for dwellings associated with Jesus Christ, that Imaginary Friend of your who lives in the clouds and who thinks you're the most special person in the entire galaxy and universe beyond that in your blithering idiocy you're completely and absolutely ignorant about.
I've heard those moronic Jesus Christ bible-thumpers - cowards terrified of mortality as are all religious, "spiritual" types - talk about proof.
Proof that they don't know anything about anything.
Religious scholars are experts only in circular reasoning.
I keep watch for the so-called "religious professor" - notable graduates of the clown-colleges infesting the United States of America - for those intelligent persons who learn enough about the subject to finally figure out that monkeys invented their god. Bible-thumpers are too weak- and lazy-minded to ever put in any serious effort at understanding *why* the human psyche *needs* a god.
So in their delusions they read such news article about discoveries and in their idiocy they think that somehow equates to proof of their delusions.

I don't really trust the Facebook Friend Request system anymore.

I've had several from names I did not recognize only to get questions as why I sent them a Friend request.
I am vaguely aware that Facebook will tell you when a third-person sends a Friend Request on your behalf but I don't know much about it.
I didn't start using Facebook, Colonel McQueen, to make friends.
I don't have any friends.
I never really had any friends.
I don't trust anybody and I don't have any reason to start.
I certainly don't have friends that can - or are willing - to address the problems I have documented in my blog and here on Facebook, the only reason I use Facebook. To post public notice. Now with each passing day I grow more and more certain that is the most pointless activity I could undertake at this point.

I don't know anything about you personally.
I don't know if you are writing these articles on the whims of your own thoughts. Or if, like me, you sometimes write in code, me mostly for myself, sometimes to people that I suspect are reading everything I write.
I'm writing now to make a literal suggestion.
Take your own advice.
Be your own guide.
Stop perpetuating that ridiculous superstitious myth about your Imaginary Friend that you call Jesus Christ. Don't peddle the False Hope of scam artists that only want to boost the revenue at their Jesus Store.

Is your psychological Denial still letting you hear a rational opinion that contradicts your superstition?
My suggestion is to stop perpetuating that ridiculous notion that we are "put here".
Nobody, imaginary or real, "put" us here.
We simply exist.
We exist because that's how it all worked out.
Stop for a moment to consider the deep and vast history of this planet Earth, this place you self-righteously claim to care about, presumably, as you zip around in your poison-spewing automobile every day.
We exist on this planet for one simple fact: natural variability.
This planet has been cranking out life for billions of years.
Over and over some new lifeform crawled from the mud and thrived. Or didn't thrive.
That little voice in your head telling you you're special in the vast Universe your dim-mind is only vaguely aware of? That's nothing. That's just chemical molecules.
In the vast and deep history of this planet Earth, nature finally cranked out a species that seems to have won the lottery in terms of intelligence.
But that doesn't seem very true to me.

THE OUTER PLANETS.
In 1841 a student at the University of Cambridge resolved to grapple with the problem. John Couch Adams, born at Lidcot in Cornwall in 1819, entered in 1839 the University of Cambridge, where he graduated in 1843. From 1858 Professor of Astronomy at Cambridge, and from 1861 director of the Observatory, he died on January 21, 1892, after a life spent in devotion to mathematical astronomy. In 1843, on taking his degree, he commenced the investigation of the orbit of Uranus. For two years he worked at the difficult question, and by September 1845 came to the conclusion that a planet revolving at a certain distance beyond Uranus would produce the observed irregularities. He handed to James Challis (1803-1882), the director of the Cambridge Observatory, a paper containing the elements of what was named by Adams “the new planet.” On 117October 21 of the same year he visited Greenwich Observatory, and left a paper containing the elements of the planet, and approximately fixing its position in the heavens. But the Astronomer-Royal of England, Sir George Biddell Airy (1801-1892), had little faith in the calculations of the young mathematician. He always considered the correctness of a distant mathematical result to be a subject rather of moral than of mathematical evidence: in fact, regarding Uranus, the Astronomer-Royal almost called in question the correctness of the law of gravitation. Besides, the novelty of the investigations aroused scepticism, and the fact that Adams was a young man, and inexperienced, went against Airy’s acceptance of the theory. However, he wrote to Adams questioning him on the soundness of his idea. Adams thought the matter trivial, and did not reply. Airy, therefore, took no interest in the investigations, and no steps were taken to search for the unseen planet. Meanwhile the Rev. W. R. Dawes happened to see Adams’ papers lying at Greenwich, and wrote to his friend, the well-known astronomer Lassell, who was in possession of a very fine reflector, erected at his residence near Liverpool, asking him to search for the planet. But Lassell was suffering from a sprained ankle, and Dawes’ letter was accidentally destroyed by a housemaid. So Adams’ theory remained in obscurity.
The question now came under the notice of François Jean Dominique Arago (1786-1853), the director of the Paris Observatory. He recognised in a young friend of his a rising genius, who was competent to solve the problem. Urban Jean Joseph Le Verrier, born at Saint Lo, in Normandy, in 1811, became in 1837 astronomical teacher in the École Polytechnique, and in 1853 director of the Paris Observatory. In consequence of differences with his staff he was obliged, in 1870, to resign from this position, but two years later was restored to the post, which he held till his death on September 23, 1877.
In 1845, ignorant of the fact that Adams had already solved the problem, Le Verrier began his investigations of the irregular motions of Uranus. In a memoir communicated to the Academy of Sciences in November of that year, he demonstrated that no known causes could produce these disturbances. In a second memoir, dated June 1, 1846, he announced that an exterior planet alone could produce these effects. But Le Verrier had now before him the difficult task of assigning an approximate position to the unseen body, so that it might be telescopically 119discovered. After much calculation Le Verrier, in his third memoir (August 31, 1846), assigned to the planet a position in the constellation Aquarius.
Meanwhile one of Le Verrier’s papers happened to reach Airy. Seeing its resemblance to Adams’ papers, which had been lying on his desk for months, his scepticism vanished, and he suggested to Challis that the planet should be searched for with the Cambridge equatorial. In July 1846 the search was commenced. The planet was actually observed on August 4 and 12, but, owing to the absence of star maps, it was not recognised. “After four days of observing,” he wrote to Airy, “the planet was in my grasp if I had only examined or mapped the observations.”
Le Verrier wrote to Encke, the illustrious director of the Berlin Observatory, desiring him to make a telescopic search for a planetary object situated in the constellation Aquarius, as bright as a star of the eighth magnitude and possessed of a visible disc. “Look where I tell you,” wrote the French astronomer, “and you will see an object such as I describe.” Encke ordered his two assistants, Galle and D’Arrest, to make a search on the night of September 23, 1846. In a few hours Galle observed an object not 120marked in the star-maps of the Berlin Observatory, which had been recently published. The following night sufficed to show that the object was in motion, and was therefore a new planet. On September 29 Challis found the planet at Cambridge, but he was too late, as the priority of the discovery was now lost to Adams. The planet received the name of “Neptune.”
For some time, indeed, it appeared as if the French astronomer alone was to receive the honour of the discovery. But on October 3, 1846, a letter from Sir John Herschel appeared in the ‘Athenæum’ in which he referred to the discovery made by Adams. The French scientists were extremely jealous. Indeed, Arago actually declared that, when Neptune was under discussion, the entire honour should go to Le Verrier, and the name of Adams should not even be mentioned,—Arago’s line of reasoning being that it was not the man who first made a discovery who should receive the credit, but he who first made it public. However, the credit of the discovery is now given equally to Adams and Le Verrier, both of whom are regarded as among the greatest of astronomers.

John Couch Adams FRS FRSE FRAS (5 June 1819 – 21 January 1892) was a British mathematician and astronomer. He was born in Laneast, near Launceston, Cornwall, and died in Cambridge.
His most famous achievement was predicting the existence and position of Neptune, using only mathematics. The calculations were made to explain discrepancies with Uranus's orbit and the laws of Kepler and Newton. At the same time, but unknown to each other, the same calculations were made by Urbain Le Verrier. Le Verrier would send his coordinates to Berlin Observatory astronomer Johann Gottfried Galle, who confirmed the existence of the planet on 23 September 1846, finding it within 1° of Le Verrier's predicted location. As I was trying to go to sleep last night, I had a thought that I have a doctorate in computer science from Princeton.

This sounds very interesting. In my memory of taking Physics my Senior year at Ashdown, I remember being very interested in the class, but we didn t cover such an interesting topic.

I think I even have memories of the graduate degree process. I am not sure of the terms to describe the process.

I actually do remember... something... I can t explain it. It feels that I am holding an unmarked, undistinguishable book that I don t know the name of or the contents but I know I have read it already.

A few minutes ago I started thinking that maybe I started at Princeton University in 1972. I would have been 13 at the time as Thomas Ray. I remember that Kerry Burgess started first grade in 1972. But then I decided that I probably started Princeton earlier than 1972 and maybe 1972 was the year I completed my first major degree. Or 1972 doesn t really mean anything in particular to Thomas Ray; rather it is there for continuity sake for the life of Kerry Burgess.

Also, "Salesman." I saw that in a dream while sleeping recently. I saw myself going through an induction process in the United States Marine Corps and I woke up understanding that I was dreaming of my actual experience in 1990. I saw a document that indicated I was being inducted to the United States Marine Corps with the officer grade of Chief Warrant Officer 2. I saw in the dream another document associated with my induction and that document indicated I had been assigned the informal name "Salesman."

Brigham Young led the first Mormon pioneers to the Great Salt Lake.
Following the death of Joseph Smith in 1844, Brigham Young, as president of the Quorum of the Twelve, became the leader of the LDS Church in Nauvoo, Illinois. To address the growing conflicts between his people and their neighbors, Young agreed with Illinois Governor Thomas Ford in October 1845 that the Mormons would leave by the following year.
Young and the first group of Mormon pioneers reached the Salt Lake Valley on July 24, 1847. Over the next 22 years, more than 70,000 pioneers crossed the plains and settled in Utah. For the first few years, Brigham Young and the thousands of early settlers of Salt Lake City struggled to survive. The arid desert land was deemed desirable by the Mormons as a place where they could practice their religion without harassment.
