Looked at the clock on my desk
About 5:30 PM 10/17/2024
Thought to myself, that makes it 8:30 PM on the east-coast USA
I am in the time-zone for the west-coast USA, so for me, the 8:30 PM broadcast of season 4 episode 1 is still 3 hours distant
Presumably, people on the east-coast are now beginning to view the content, 3 hours before it becomes available to me on antenna broadcast CBS local-affiliate television

That's the episode title for tonight's new episode
So that made me think
I did not use that particular vendor for Nova-DD_155 (presently configured beautifully as Lucy Too). I looked closely at that other vendor's product, which they name: Patience
Vendor names factor in greatly in the overall scheme of my discoveries so I gave it more thought
There are so many of those products I like. Not purchasing more of them.
Evelyn-B_157 and Hope-J_164 are great, but so what? What does that proves to *me*? I don't need lectures by some ghost that I am not in control of the Universe or the minds of the humans infesting this planet.
Have not watched the video, know only the summary about it that I read on the IMDb page. Haven't watched any of those episodes of that tv-series since its debut years ago
Accepted the impulse in my mind that I must watch tonight's new episode
And I continue working on this note waiting for 8:30 PM to arrive
Local live-tv news I watch on antenna broadcast tv is still on now at 6:22 PM and until 7:00 PM
Tonight might be the first time this season we reach freezing temperatures outside, belatedly
And the question becomes again: why?
Why would THEY craft something like this?

Brewing up another pot of strong, black coffee
Sometimes drinking coffee in the evening seems to help me sleep better at night
Wonder if that's a symptom of very poor cardiovascular health, which makes sense considering I get no real exercise anymore
Certainly my demise by cardiac failure or something is baked in solid now in my arteries
So, whatever this jazz is going around in my brain and into my conscious-mind, has not extended into improving my overall physical health. Because it's lousy.
One often hears in the news about some old guy, about the age I am now, is feeling lousy overall, decides to start jogging again, drops dead in the street from heart-attack. So I know how they were thinking before their self-inflicted demise by overdoing it. As I've said before, everything only gets worse from this side of the hill. All I can do is wait to see if any of this has any value to me personally. Which surely must have been the point of those that set it all up in the first place, decades ago.

Russia Meteor Not Linked to Asteroid Flyby 02.15.13

The large fireball (technically, called a "superbolide") observed on the morning of Feb. 15, 2013, in the skies near Chelyabinsk, Russia, was caused by a relatively small asteroid approximately 17 to 20 meters in size (about 18.6 to 21.9 yards) that entered Earth's atmosphere at high speed and at a shallow angle. In doing so, it released a tremendous amount of energy, fragmented at high altitude, and produced a shower of pieces of various sizes that fell to the ground as meteorites.
The fireball was observed not only by video cameras and low-frequency infrasound detectors, but also by U.S. government sensors. Information on the composition of the meteor was also derived from meteorite fragments found in the Chelyabinsk area. With this new data incorporated, the details of the impact have become clearer.
At 9:20:20 a.m. local time (3:20:20 UTC) the meteor entered Earth's atmosphere over the Kazakhstan/Russia border. As it descended through the upper atmosphere, it traveled northwest into Russia. The impactor's trajectory approached Earth along a direction that remained within 15 degrees of the direction of the sun. Asteroid detection telescopes cannot scan regions of the sky this close to the sun. During the atmospheric entry phase, an impacting object is both slowed and heated by atmospheric friction. In front of it, a bow shock develops where atmospheric gases are compressed and heated. Some of this energy is radiated to the object, causing it to ablate, and in most cases, break apart. Fragmentation increases the amount of atmosphere intercepted and so enhances ablation and atmospheric braking. The object disintegrates when the force from the unequal pressures on the front and back sides exceeds its tensile strength. This disruption, or disintegration, usually occurs around the time of maximum brightness.
Thirteen seconds after atmospheric entry, at 9:20:33 a.m. local time (03:20:33 UTC), the fireball, traveling at a velocity of 11.6 miles per second (18.6 kilometers per second), achieved its maximum brightness just south of Chelyabinsk, Russia, at an altitude of 14.5 miles (23.3 kilometers). The approximate effective diameter of the asteroid is estimated to be about 18 meters (about 19.7 yards), and its mass about 11,000 tons. Approximate total impact energy of the Chelyabinsk Fireball, in kilotons of TNT explosives (the energy parameter usually quoted for a fireball), is 440 kilotons. Note that these estimates of total energy, diameter and mass are very approximate. The Chelyabinsk event was an extraordinarily large fireball, the most energetic impact event recognized since the 1908 Tunguska blast in Russian Siberia.
The U.S. government sensor data also provides an approximate path for the Chelyabinsk impactor. A similar calculation can be made from analysis of video records of the event; both methods yield similar results. This path through the atmosphere reinforces that the fireball was not associated with asteroid 2012 DA14, which made a very close flyby of Earth just over 16 hours later. This is known because the two objects approached the Earth from completely different directions and had entirely different orbits around the sun.

One Nation Underground is a richly detailed and beautifully written account of a pivotal period in the Cold War civil defense debate, a time when Americans collectively confronted the implications of the Bomb. On July 26, 1961, President John F. Kennedy, just back from a meeting with Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev in Vienna (where Khrushchev threatened to declare Berlin, a neutral city, off limits to the West), gave a nationally televised address concerning the Berlin crisis. Asserting his intention to keep the city free and accessible, Kennedy declared, “We do not want to fight, but we have fought before.”
In his speech, Kennedy proposed spending an additional $3.2 billion for the military, as well as $207.6 million for a civil defense plan to “identify and mark space in existing structures–public and private–that could be used for fallout shelters in case of attack.” Should an attack come, he said, “the lives of those families which are not hit in a nuclear blast and fire can still be saved if they can be warned to take shelter and if that shelter is available…. We owe that kind of insurance to our families and to our country…. The time to start is now.” Kennedy concluded with the sobering comment that “in the thermonuclear age, any misjudgment on either side about the intentions of the other could rain more devastation in several hours than has been wrought in all the wars of human history.”
Kennedy's speech, along with the erection of the Berlin Wall on August 13, and a Soviet nuclear test on September 1 (ending a three-year bilateral testing moratorium), dramatically increased fears of nuclear war and drove Americans to think about fallout shelters as never before. Kennedy's speech set off a national debate–and, for a brief period, a frenzy of shelter building.
