Last night, I have two such thoughts that stuck with me when I woke up minutes or seconds later. The second scene was of Lily telling me of some endearing quality about herself.
This imaginary girlfriend routine is kind of fun, but with all these actors around me, who knows what is the reality. What I really want to avoid is encouraging people to stalk women on TV. No one should take seriously the perceived affections of a person on TV.

Whistleblower Protection Act of 1989 - Separates the Office of Special Counsel from the Merit Systems Protection Board. Empowers the Special Counsel to represent and act as legal counsel on behalf of employees alleging prohibited personnel practices, especially whistleblowers. Revises current law with respect to the Special Counsel to reflect its advocate status.
Authorizes the Board to grant protective orders to protect a witness or other individual from harassment either during a proceeding before the Board or during a Special Counsel investigation. Requires the Board, when it considers alternative places for conducting hearings or proceedings, to select the place closest to the location of the individual involved, unless the total administrative costs to the Government in conducting such hearings or proceedings would be less elsewhere.
Authorizes the Special Counsel to file a petition with the Board against an official for: (1) engaging in prohibited personnel practices; (2) violating a law within the jurisdiction of the Special Counsel; or (3) failing to comply with an order of the Board. Sets forth procedures for disciplining such officials.
Authorizes the Special Counsel to apply to the Board to enforce a court subpoena.
Prohibits the Special Counsel from intervening in cases without the employee's consent.
Prohibits the Special Counsel from providing information concerning any person making an allegation of a prohibited personnel practice without the consent of such person, except when necessary because of imminent danger to public health or safety or of imminent criminal act.
Prescribes procedures for the Special Counsel when disclosures are made by persons other than an employee, former employee, applicant for employment, or employee who obtained information in connection with official duties.
Requires the Special Counsel to report annually to the Congress on its activities.
Establishes requirements for the Special Counsel to make public certain information, including noncriminal matters.
Authorizes employees who have been adversely affected by a prohibited personnel practice to bring an action before the Board (instead of or in addition to taking such action to the Special Counsel).
Requires whistleblowers to show that their disclosure was a contributing factor in adverse actions against them in order to prove reprisal.
Authorizes Federal agencies to give preference in granting transfers to whistleblowers.

1990: Iraq invades Kuwait
More than 100,000 Iraqi soldiers backed up by 700 tanks invaded the Gulf state of Kuwait in the early hours of this morning.
Iraqi forces have established a provisional government and their leader Saddam Hussein has threatened to turn Kuwait city into a "graveyard" if any other country dares to challenge the "take-over by force".
Iraqi jets have bombed targets in the capital and special forces have landed at the defence ministry and at the Emir's palace. Road blocks are in place and there are reports of looting in the city's shops.
Initial reports suggest up to 200 people have been killed in heavy gunfire around the city.
It is reported that the younger brother of Emir Sheikh Jaber al-Sabah has been killed whilst trying to defend the palace, while the Emir himself has escaped to Saudi Arabia.
All communication has been cut with Kuwait and many people, including thousands of foreign nationals, are trapped in the city.
'Absolutely unacceptable'
The invasion has sparked strong condemnation from leaders around the world.

KUWAIT, Aug. 2— Iraqi troops who invaded Kuwait before dawn today swiftly gained the upper hand in the capital despite occasionally fierce resistance by outnumbered Kuwaiti defenders.
Fighting in the city was concentrated in Shuwaik, Kuwait's main military barracks. The area was covered with smoke and witnesses said Kuwaiti forces were putting up a strong resistance. Gunfire was heard from other points outside the capital.
But by nightfall pockets of resistance which had held out in parts of the country appeared to have been eliminated and about 200 Iraqi tanks clanked through the capital. Some parked along the seaside highway, their guns pointing to the Gulf.
Lloyds Intelligence reported that Iraqi troops, who quickly took control of the airport and royal palace, were moving south of the capital toward the oilfields at Mina al-Ahmadi on the Kuwaiti-Saudi border.
Even after the fighting died down, the Government of Sheik Jaber al-Ahmed al-Sabah continued to issue calls for resistance from radio transmitters in the desert.
They urged Kuwaitis to ''make the aggressors taste the chalice of death.''
A Call to Arms
''We shall fight them everywhere until we clean their treachery from our land,'' the broadcasts said. ''Our Arab brothers are with us. Our Muslim brothers are with us. The entire world is with us. And above all, God is with us.''
The Emir's younger brother, Prince Fahd, died defending Dasman Palace, the sheik's residence on the banks of the Persian Gulf, which was strafed by Iraqi jets in the initial assault.
Kuwait's al-Emiri Hospital, near Dasman Palace, reported 3 Kuwaiti dead and 45 wounded there alone. About 95 Iraqis had been admitted with wounds, the hospital said, adding that it knew of more casualties at other hospitals.
At dawn, explosions and gunfire echoed around the skyscrapers of the capital, Kuwait, as the vastly stronger Iraqi Army, backed by tanks and helicopters, stormed into the city and quickly took control of the palace, the international airport and the central bank.
Across Sand and Scrub
Hundreds of Iraqi tanks, armored personnel carriers, fuel and water tankers and truckloads of troops had trundled 80 miles from the border across sand and scrub toward Kuwait in temperatures above 105 degrees.
The Iraqi-backed ''Free Provisional Kuwait Government'' broadcast to the nation, announcing that it had taken power and was imposing an indefinite curfew.
Iraq said it struck to support a coup by young Kuwaiti revolutionaries against the Sabah family, whom it denounced as ''traitors and agents of Zionist and foreign schemes.''
The invasion across the disputed border was begun at 2 A.M. (7 P.M. Wednesday, Eastern daylight time) and within several hours the first Iraqi troops were taking up positions in downtown Kuwait.
Waving Iraqi flags, jubilant soldiers in cars raced through streets and Iraqi helicopters clattered overhead.
