I currently maintain an official United States federal undercover identity and I began that assignment on 12/7/1998 to investigate Microsoft Corporation sponsored terrorism. My deployment start date is recorded as 3/15/1998 and 3/16/1998 and I have been 100% deployed since then without even being able to visit with my family. I have not yet been granted permission to resume my true identity. And there is predictability to the terrorists attacks I have survived to this point.

The end of an era for naval legend
Sir Galahad was the first ship to sail into Umm Qasr during the Iraq war
Her name will always be associated with one of the darkest days in recent British military and naval history.
It was on the 8 June, 1982, that Sir Galahad and her sister ship RFA Sir Tristram came under attack in Bluff Cove at the height of the British operation to recover the islands from their Argentine invaders.
The captain of Sir Galahad, Phil Roberts, later gave his account of the day.
"It all happened very suddenly. The planes came out of nowhere and they bombed us and the ship was set on fire very rapidly," Capt Roberts said.
"We had to abandon ship fairly quickly. The scene was horrific."

HMS Sheffield (D80) was the second Royal Navy ship to bear the name Sheffield, after the city of Sheffield in Yorkshire. She was a Type 42 Guided Missile Destroyer laid down by Vickers Shipbuilding and Engineering at Barrow-in-Furness on 15 January 1970, launched on 10 June 1971 and commissioned on 16 February 1975.
The ship was part of the Task Force sent to the Falkland Islands during the Falklands War. She was struck by an Exocet cruise missile fired by a French-made Dassault Super Étendard belonging to the Argentine Navy on 4 May 1982 and finally scuttled on the 10 May 1982.

Clyde Everett Lassen (1942-1994), a native of Fort Myers, Florida, was a United States Navy aviator who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his rescue of two downed aviators while piloting a search and rescue helicopter in Vietnam.
The Mission
On June 19, 1968, Lassen, then a 27 year old Lieutenant (LT) flying a UH-2 Seasprite, embarked on a mission to recover two downed naval aviators whose plane had been shot down deep in North Vietnamese territory. Upon reaching the hilly terrain where the aviators were hiding. LT Lassen made several attempts to recover the aviators, but dense tree cover, enemy weapons fire and intermittent illumination frustrated his efforts. LT Lassen turned on the landing lights of the helicopter, despite the danger of revealing his position to the enemy. After the pilots made their way to the helicopter and with his bullet-riddled helicopter dangerously low on fuel, LT Lassen evaded further antiaircraft fire before landing safely at sea onboard a guided missile destroyer with only five minutes of fuel left in the helicopter's fuel lines. The account of the rescue was logged as a successful, routine search and rescue mission.
LT Lassen became the first naval aviator and fifth Navy man to be awarded the Medal of Honor for bravery in Vietnam. In 2001, a Naval Destroyer was commissioned and named after him: USS Lassen (DDG 82).

JUPITER'S MOON CALLISTO MAY HIDE SALTY OCEAN
Jupiter's second largest moon, Callisto, may have a liquid ocean tucked under its icy, cratered crust, according to scientists studying data gathered by NASA's Galileo spacecraft.
I was still in pretty bad physical condition on 7/21/1987, having only 2 months earlier returned from living over a year in the African wilderness and then surviving the missile strike in the USS Stark FFG-31. I lost consciousness at one point standing there next to my wife for our formal wedding ceremony and I created an association with the STS-1 launch because I also lost consciousness there. The starboard landing gear malfunctioned as we approached landing and I got it fixed in the last few minutes, which caused me to fall out of the space shuttle through the landing gear door. That event on the STS-1 flight landing was incorporated into the "Star Trek: Generation" movie with "Kirk" disappearing from the ship just after he saves it from being destroyed. The next time "Kirk" appears in the movie, he is chopping wood, which reminds me of an early Pink Floyd song, "Careful With That Axe, Eugene."

When I hear about the can-do spirit of America's doctors in uniform, it reminds me of a story about a group of marines. I hope those of you in the other services will forgive me for telling this, but the get-it-done spirit applies to all of America's physicians in uniform. These marines had been sent to the Army airborne school for training. And came the day for the first jump, the training officer told them that the planes would come in at 1,500 feet, they would jump from the plane, hit the ground, and move south. The marines seemed a little disturbed by this, and they went into a huddle. Then one of them as a spokesman for the group went to the officer and asked couldn't the plane come in at 500 feet instead of 1,500? And the officer explained that if they took the plane in too low, it wouldn't give them time for the parachutes to open. And he said, "Oh, you mean we're wearing parachutes?" [Laughter]

Love or Logic?
A debate surrounds the question of the most appropriate way to find a partner for the purpose of marriage. The advantages of arranged marriage will be discussed at length. However, none of this discussion makes any difference to a person who has an emotional conviction that courtship is the best way to find a mate. Such an emotional conviction is unassailable by logic or argument.
Love
Amongst the arguments against arranged marriage, the two most prominent are:
Arranged marriage is loveless. Some people abhor the prospect of being married someone they do not already love. However, this prospect not really worth worrying about as evidenced by many happily married people who claim that love grows in a marriage, even if the marriage does not start with love.[1] Moreover, marriages based on romance are likely to fail due to the partners unreasonable expectations of each other and with the relationship having little room for improvement.[1] Hence, the claim that arranged marriage is loveless is ultimately a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Individuals are the best arbiters of their own lives. Let people make their own mistakes. Arranged marriage, if viewed in the narrow terms of individual rights and personal growth, is a great denial of self. This argument ignores the substantial asymmetry of knowledge about marriage between the person wishing to get married and the third-party. The parents or matchmaker likely have been married for more than 20 years whereas the person wishing to be married has no experience (at least for a first marriage). Hence, it is reasonable to believe that the parents or matchmaker can draw on their experience to the benefit of the person looking for a partner.

The President. Well, thank you all for being here. Nancy and I want to welcome you all to the White House for this happy occasion. On days like this and at lunches like this, I find myself looking up and thinking what a wonderful job I have. We're here today to present the Medal of Freedom to seven Americans. This medal is the highest civilian honor our nation can bestow. And I've always thought it highly significant that we call it not the Medal of Talent or the Medal of Valor or the Medal of Courage or Genius but the Medal of Freedom. I think that says a lot about our values and what we honor and what we love.
Freedom is important to all of us. As someone who spent many years making speeches, I have quoted many definitions of freedom—some very moving and eloquent. But I've always liked George Orwell's blunt and unadorned statement. He said, "Freedom is the right to say no." There's something kind of happily rebellious about that definitions and I thought of it this morning because I decided this year's recipients of the Medal of Freedom are distinguished by this. You're a group of happy rebels. In your careers and in the way you have lived your lives, you've all said no—a most emphatic no—to mediocrity, to averageness, to timidity. You've said no to the rules of the game and the regulations of the day. You've said no to the conventional wisdom, no to the merely adequate, no to the limits and limitations on yourselves and others.
But it's probably true that there is little point to freedom unless it's accompanied by a big yes! And each of you has uttered a resounding Whitmanesque yes to many things—to excellence and risk and reach, to courage and the untried and the supposedly impossible. You've rebelled against the artificial and embraced the authentic. You've achieved a great deal. And your creativity itself has been life-affirming, for creation is a profoundly faithful act, an act that says, "I trust in the future, and I trust in life itself."
You're all originals. You've all made America better—a better place—and you've made it seem a better place in the eyes of the people of the world. And this today is just our way of saying thanks. And without further ado, I'm going to read the citations for the medals now and award them to the recipients.
