The Improbable.
What happened
Two items I have observed so far today
That wager I mentioned earlier. The uncertainty of sunshine today locally, a wager by the anchor-talking-head guy (he's an improvement over Mumblin' Randy from years ago) and the weather-guy (much improvement over his sack-of-shit predecessor and his ridiculous predictions I remember of total winter snowfall in inches) for five-dollars. The weather-guy won the wager today for his successful prediction of rare, winter sunshine.
Secondly, the probably-crippling winter storm in the south USA began today, based on my observations of weather website and cameras on the internet. I think of that region where it begins today because it is over the area where I was born and into childhood and progresses through where I lived until my 30s
Because of those observations, I made a subjective examination with my original-work technique
I am not a scientist.
I am certainly not a religion-bunker. Theology is nothing but circular-reasoning. The clergy peddles their bunk successfully because of your wishful-thinking and your desperate, false-hope of your ridiculous "after-life", because you're a coward terrified of mortality.
I have established a pattern for the past 20 years of this work and now I examine my original-work for the improbable.

The worst sort of storm is an ice-storm and looks as though they're in for it in the South USA beginning later today. Their only hope is the weather rebounds fairly quickly returning to average and the ice will melt a lot sooner down there than if something like that hit the North, which happened here in Spokane in year 1996. Normally here it's just snow. Not this year.
The National Weather Service in Spokane reports an average of 45.1 inches snowfall per year.
Year-to-date for this season as of yesterday is reported as 30.0 inches on average.
Observed so far this season as of yesterday: 13.7 inches observed.
Of that 13.7 inches observed to date, 7.0 inches observed on 01/07/2026.

WRAY: What do you see?
CAINE: Snow is falling.
(Inside his head, he is standing about a dozen paces away from the rear of the shuttle. The snow has been falling for some time and he has left deep footprints behind him. Wrapped in a blanket, he gazes up at the sky, realising that it doesn't look like it's going to stop snowing any time soon. He lowers his head unhappily and turns back towards the ship.)
CAINE (on Destiny): The shuttle is our only shelter now.
(A couple of blankets have been hung over the doorway and Caine pushes through to where the rest of the crew are wrapped in more blankets and huddled around a tiny fire in a metal bowl. All of them are shuddering.)
CAINE (on Destiny): It's so cold. We lost power days ago.

Looking at weather map illustrations of the patterns over North America, I wonder about the effect of the Pacific Ocean
Is the warmer waters of the north Pacific Ocean causing high-pressure to form? Then it's rotation is funneling warmer air over the Artic and forced against Polar Vortex?
I don't understand the correlation of effects at various levels of the atmosphere.
I also don't understand the effect of conditions on the other side of the globe in that northern hemisphere
From my perspective, I see warm air pushed north to the north pole
Another perspective is that the polar vortex is being pushed away, the rotation of the planet is pulling towards the eastern section of the USA. That force of pushing south and east is causing the jet-stream to warp and that warping is causing the ridge that ramps up over the Pacific Ocean, off the Washington State ocean-coastline, the jet-stream then starts pumping warmer air towards the north pole.
I look around for explanations and I often encounter the name of Judah Cohen. I don't read (or understand) the global effects causing these conditions to form
I research this topic because of the calendar-day of the events.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Heavy snow is falling across the Charlotte area as a major winter storm brings significant winter weather to the region on Saturday. Once the snow stops, dangerous, bitter cold is expected to linger for a couple of days.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Snow is actively falling across the Carolinas on Saturday, and snow totals were adding up early Saturday afternoon. This is a true snow day across the Carolinas!
We’re in the middle of a significant winter storm on Saturday, Jan. 31.
While the First Alert Weather team has made a few fine-tuned forecast updates based on radar and real-time observations, the overall forecast remains solid and unchanged: Snow totals are adding up, warnings remain in effect, and impacts will continue through Sunday morning.
Here’s a breakdown of the Carolina snowstorm forecast, as of early Saturday afternoon.
What’s changed (and what hasn’t)
Snow is now well underway across the region.
Snow totals have increased.
Winter Storm Warning continues through 7 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 1.
Extreme Cold Warning goes into effect Saturday night.
Why this snow means business
This storm is being driven by an unusually strong upper-level system -- one that’s much stronger than normal for this time of year.

at Country Club Estates and moved out there until I moved to Arrowood in Charlotte, NC. From there I went across town to Dresden off Independence with the nearby Sheffield Park, and then I moved back near Arrowood to Whitehall. After that, I moved to Paces River in Rock Hill, SC, off Exit 82 of I-77.

YOUNG: That's a fair question. Do you think that we could electronically compare the voice we are getting from the shuttle to an old Kino recording of Caine?
WALLACE: OK, trust me: these aliens built a planet from scratch and can just throw a shuttle between galaxies. I'm pretty sure they could impersonate Caine if they wanted to!
VOLKER: Boone used to do a pretty good Caine.
BRODY: I thought it was the other way around.
YOUNG: So, what? We take them for their word? They are who they say they are and ignore the possibility that this could be a ruse to get by our defences?
WALLACE: Like a Trojan horse?
RUSH: The truth is, with aliens that can do this, defences are meaningless.
