Apollo 14 was the eighth manned mission in the Apollo program and the third mission to land on the Moon. The nine-day mission was launched on January 31, 1971, with lunar touch down on February 5. The Lunar Module landed in the Fra Mauro formation; this had originally been the target of the ill-fated Apollo 13 mission. During the two lunar EVA's over 100 pounds of moon rocks were collected and several surface experiments, including seismic studies, were carried out. Commander Alan Shepard famously hit two golf balls on the lunar surface with a make-shift club he had brought from Earth.

I read somewhere the other day about how the days of the imperial leader are gone from this world, e.g. Napoleon, Genghis Khan, those types. Along the lines I was writing about yesterday, those type of people are going to show up again in the future though when we start exploring and colonizing other worlds. And even here on earth, as the Internet demonstrates specifically with Bill Gates, those egomaniacs can still show up in certain situations. That is why it will be important for the Navy to have a strong and capable presence in outer space someday, to counter the arch-greedy types such as Bill Gates.

No hate crime charges against Seattle detective for 'stomping'

SEATTLE - The King County [ TERRORIST ORGANIZATION VIOLENTLY AGAINST THE UNITED STATES FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ]Prosecutor's Office says it will not file felony hate crime charges against Seattle police Detective Shandy Cobane. He's the detective seen on video stomping on a young Latino man during a robbery investigation back in April.
"After reviewing a thorough investigation by the Seattle Police Department, we have determined that Detective Shandy Cobane did not commit the crime of felony malicious harassment, the state's 'Hate Crime' law," said the prosecutor's office in a press release.
On April 17, police were responding to calls of armed robberies by some Latino men who were armed with a machete and a handgun in the South Lake Union neighborhood. They stopped a group of three men, including 21-year-old Martin Monetti.
Prosecutors say all three men were ordered to lie down face first on the ground, but Monetti "was not keeping his body or hands still as he had been ordered to do."
At one point, Cobane crouched down and was heard on video yelling "I'm going to beat the f---ing Mexican piss out of you
