I woke up this time thinking, partially visualizing, flying an F-14 Tomcat over the ocean somewhere. I can almost visualize another F-14 flying on my wing. Suddenly, the other F-14 exploded but I can't actually visualize that part. I think both people parachuted out of that aircraft. Apparently another missile hit my aircraft, blew off the canopy, and knocked me unconscious. Then I can almost see us traveling straight down towards the ocean surface and the RIO in the seat behind me was yelling at me to wake up. I pulled up and engaged the two aircraft that fired at us. One was hit by my Sparrow but the other Sparrow missed. I went in and finished off the other one up close. I returned to the carrier and landed safely, and then passed out from a moderate concussion with blood running out from underneath my cracked helmet.

After I awoke from a nap this afternoon, I felt compelled to write about a dream I had just before I woke up but then did not write about it. I started feeling that need to write about it again but may have forgotten some details by now. I have started thinking that the dreams I have just before waking up mean something in their own right.
In the dream, I was wearing a Navy uniform. I didn’t have anywhere to go though and seemed to be just walking around what I guess was a Navy installation. I decided to go into a building to ask if another Commander was still there even though I knew he wasn’t there. I spoke to a Navy enlisted person who appeared to be an Airman judging by his three green stripes although I couldn’t make out his rating symbol. He asked me a question but I didn’t hear his question and I asked him to repeat it by saying “Sir?” to him with an inquisitive tone. He asked me how I could not know that the other Commander was already deployed and I said something about how I just did not know. I left and walked down and out on some kind of spiral staircase, although that part isn’t that clear and I find myself wondering about that part. There was another spiral staircase ahead of me, there seemed to be dual staircases on either side of the front door to that
building, and a Lt. j.g. came down the other side. I want to say he was someone I should know but I can’t picture him as someone I knew. I want to say it was him that spoke something to me at that point but I also want to say the voice came from behind me. He said, or someone else said, something about me being “a little off.” I wondered if he meant that I was wrong about some of these details. Then I wondered if he meant I was a little crazy, but I think I started thinking that last one after I woke up. I think after he or someone said that, it made me start thinking about the uniform I was wearing. I found myself thinking after I awoke that it seemed to be a Marine Corps officers dress uniform. I seemed to be wearing the dark blue Marine uniform with white pants. But I am confused about one detail as it seemed I looked to my left shoulder and saw Navy shoulder boards with Captain stripes. Or was it just an epaulet, I am not sure, but there was a
pair of sunglasses clipped under it. I was walking down the sidewalk and there were two people ahead of me. One may have been that Lt. j.g. Another was a female officer, Navy I guess. Somewhere along there I realized I had forgotten to wear the appropriate cover for that uniform and realized that I was still wearing a ball cap, although I had actually taken it off as I went outside. I realized I couldn’t return anyone’s salute. Then I started thinking that the ball cap had USS Wainwright printed on it but I don’t remember actually looking at it and I may remember that detail in the sense that someone was reading details to me, they were telling me what the name was on the cap. I also remember that it had a frayed bill just like the Nike cap I have now. I remember I was walking very slowly. It was hard to walk and I was limping. I have thought several times before that if I do start wearing the uniform again, I should use a cane until I get my leg
back in better shape. Then I was in a parking garage and I had to cross a street into a parking lot, I guess to find my car.

(A) involve violent acts or acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State, or that would be a criminal violation if committed within the jurisdiction of the United States or of any State;
(B) appear to be intended—
(i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;
(ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or
(iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and
(C) occur primarily outside the territorial jurisdiction of the United States, or transcend national boundaries in terms of the means by which they are accomplished, the persons they appear intended to intimidate or coerce, or the locale in which their perpetrators operate or seek asylum;
(2) the term “national of the United States” has the meaning given such term in section 101(a)(22) of the Immigration and Nationality Act;
(3) the term “person” means any individual or entity capable of holding a legal or beneficial interest in property;
(4) the term “act of war” means any act occurring in the course of—
(A) declared war;
(B) armed conflict, whether or not war has been declared, between two or more nations; or
(C) armed conflict between military forces of any origin; and
(5) the term “domestic terrorism” means activities that—
(A) involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State;
(B) appear to be intended—
(i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;
(ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or
(iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and

(a) Any person subject to this chapter who—
(1) with intent to usurp or override lawful military authority, refuses, in concert with any other person, to obey orders or otherwise do his duty or creates any violence or disturbance is guilty of mutiny;
(2) with intent to cause the overthrow or destruction of lawful civil authority, creates, in concert with any other person, revolt, violence, or other disturbance against that authority is guilty of sedition;
(3) fails to do his utmost to prevent and suppress a mutiny or sedition being committed in his presence, or fails to take all reasonable means to inform his superior commissioned officer or commanding officer of a mutiny or sedition which he knows or has reason to believe is taking place, is guilty of a failure to suppress or report a mutiny or sedition.

Omagh bombing
The Omagh bombing was a paramilitary car bomb attack carried out by the Real Irish Republican Army (RIRA), a splinter group of former Provisional Irish Republican Army members opposed to the Belfast Agreement, on Saturday 15 August 1998, in Omagh, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. Twenty-nine people died as a result of the attack and approximately 220 people were injured. The attack was described by the BBC as "Northern Ireland's worst single terrorist atrocity" and by the British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, as an "appalling act of savagery and evil". Sinn Féin leaders Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness condemned the attack and the RIRA itself.

At the same time, Maggie Hall was working in the headquarters of Ulster Televition in Belfast. Around 14:30 she answered the telephone and heard a man give her a bomb warning. (The transcript of this is given below.) She immediately phoned the RUC's emergency switchboard and spoke to Constable George Mullan. A recording of the phone call shows her saying: "I'm only after getting a call from a man with a country accent, saying there's a bomb in Omagh main street near the courthouse, a 500lb bomb. It's going to go off in 30 minutes". She also told the Constable Mullan that the caller had given the codeword "Malta Pope". Constable Mullan then phoned the warning through to Omagh. He later said that the codeword gave him the "gut feeling" that this was not a hoax. Three minutes later the phone rang again and a second warning was given, this time reducing the time to 15 minutes.
Between these two calls, a female worker at the Coleraine office of the Samaritans charity - whose name has been given as "Hilary Unknown" - answered the telephone and also heard a man give a bomb warning. She immediately phoned the RUC's emergency switchboard at Coleraine, and spoke to Constable Gary Murphy. The recording of her phone call shows her saying: "I have received a bomb call for Omagh town centre approximately 200 yards from the courthouse and the code word Malta Pope was given".
(Codewords are mutually understood phrases between terrorist organisations and the security forces. For the security forces, this helps to reduce the incidence of hoax warnings phoned by pranksters. For the organisation responsible, it helps to ensure that it gets the credit for the bomb: sometimes more than one organisation issues a claim of responsibility after a "successful" bombing.) Malta Pope was the name of an aide of Senator George Mitchell who had chaired the negotiations in 1997 and 1998. This codeword was the same as that given for the Banbridge bomb a few weeks before which had been claimed by the "Real" IRA.

Saturday, 15 August 1998 was a busy day for Omagh shoppers. Just two weeks until school resumed after the summer and many parents had their children with them shopping in Omagh's two school-uniform specialists - SD Kells and Watersons. Elsewhere, students home from University were working 'summer jobs' in shops. Other people were shopping for music, groceries, getting a hair cut or just meeting friends. Later that day, a carnival was due to move through the town centre. The town was packed.
Some time around 2pm, a red Vauxhall Cavalier, registration number MDZ 5211 was driven onto Market Street from an easterly direction and parked outside SD Kells clothes shop. The two male occupants walked away from the car down Campsie Road (see map). The shoppers ignored it - little did they know that it contained 140kg (300 pounds) of fertiliser-based explosive attached to a semtex trigger. The car had been stolen in St McCartan's Villas, in Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan on the Thursday before. At that time, it bore the southern registration number 91 DL 2554.
The chilling photograph on the left was found by investigators in a camera buried in the rubble. It is surely one of the most poignant images of the whole event. The picture was taken in the minutes before the bomb exploded, clearly showing the red car - with its deadly hidden cargo - beside dozens of oblivious civilians.

President Clinton's lawyers sought today to move up the date of the trial on Paula Corbin Jones's sexual misconduct charges, in a move to regain the initiative as accusations about the President ricochet across the nation.
In papers filed with a Federal judge in Arkansas, Mr. Clinton's lawyers said that starting the trial earlier than its scheduled date of May 27 would allow them to respond to the charges in a courtroom, where some of the President's accusers could be cross-examined.
In particular, Mr. Clinton's lawyers have said that they believed they could use the trial to undermine the credibility of witnesses against him, including Monica S. Lewinsky, if the former White House intern changes her story and acknowledges an affair with Mr. Clinton.
Whatever Ms. Lewinsky says, they are eager to attack her onetime friend Linda R. Tripp, a Pentagon aide who has said she secretly recorded conversations with Ms. Lewinsky describing sexual relations with Mr. Clinton. Ms. Tripp has said she gave the tapes to the independent counsel, Kenneth W. Starr.

Jones' suit sees `vast' cover-up by Clinton

WASHINGTON - Paula Jones' lawyers, fighting to keep her sexual harassment suit against President Clinton alive, filed documents Friday accusing him of making sexual advances toward several women and engaging in a "vast enterprise" to cover up those relationships.
The documents, almost 700 pages of legal arguments and sworn statements, detailed several alleged sexual encounters involving Clinton when he was governor of Arkansas and, later, after he became president.
Filed in Little Rock, Ark., the documents were Jones' response to a motion by the president's legal team seeking to have her lawsuit dismissed without a trial. Jones' case is set for a federal trial May 27.

I have had several people ask about linebacker Aaron Curry's status. There was no report of an injury, and he was in the locker room afterward though I didn't talk to him.
