REDMOND, Wash., July 19 2000 — When Bill Graham interviewed for a position at Microsoft in November 1995, two things impressed him: he felt his deafness was treated as irrelevant to the selection process, while his special needs were fully accommodated.
“Instead of using the telephone, the Microsoft recruiter communicated with me by email,” said Graham, one of three managing editors of Encarta Multimedia Encyclopedia, North America.
“I also needed sign language interpreters when I went through the all-day interview loop. My deafness was never touched on during the interview process, even though I had two interpreters along every step of the way.”
Greg Smith also found the Microsoft hiring process to be a good experience. “I felt like my disability really didn’t make a difference, which was nice,” said Smith, a software design engineer who cannot move from the neck down, due to a flag football accident..
“Some of the logistical details that I needed to get up here and go through the interview process obviously were a little different, but there was never any doubt that those were really just details. The important part was whether I showed the right job skills and mental abilities to perform the work they were looking for.”

When Tavener showed me that video back in July 2002, I told Vince later that I wanted to kick his ass but it would as easy as beating up a little girl and I didn't find any thing comforting about that. I had a similar dream the other night. I was sitting with a group of people, but not sure where it was. It seemed to be something Microsoft related, as though I was still working there, but I didn't recognize the location. Bill Gates walked up, I think I had been expecting to talk to him. He looked at me with a glare that I thought was humorous. I got up and went to talk to him. We were standing someplace that did look familar. It looked like that area where the company store is located. I saw on the news the other day that he was giving some kind of speech over there. When he and I were talking, we were standing on that side street that runs next to the company store. Then, we were talking in a place that was a little ways down the street in what I guess was a park. It sort of reminded me of the downtown CDA park but as I remember it in the dream, I was still near the company store. I can't remember what we spoke of, but at some point, I was throwing him around like a rag doll. I hate the thought of beating up someone that is so wimpy. I killed him at one point and then threw his corpse behind some wall. A maintenance worker find his body seconds after that though although he couldn't see me as I was on higher ground, some kind of embankment. The dream ended and I regretted killing Bill Gates because I knew the cops would know I did it. They would question everyone in the park and I am not a very good liar. I did not regret killing Bill Gates, I just regretted getting caught killing Bill Gates.

Roslin: You're welcome. (They walk over to a little girl who's playing with a doll.) Hi. What's your name?
Girl: Cammy.
Roslin: Hi, Cammy. I'm Laura. Are you alone? (Cammy nods.)
Cruiser pilot: She was travelling with her grandparents, but her grandmother's having some health problems since the announcement. Not to worry, though, we are taking care of it.
Cammy: My parents are going to meet me at the space port in Caprica City.

Cammy: We're going out for dinner, and I'm having chicken pie, and then we're going home, and then Daddy's gonna read to me, and then I'm going to bed.

Apollo: We have to go, now. The Cylons will be here any minute.
Roslin: Will they be able to track us through a jump?
Apollo: No, sir, it's impossible.
Roslin: Theoretically impossible.

Doral: Madame President, there are still thousands of people on the sublight ships, we can't just leave them.
Pilot: I agree. We should use every second to get as many people off the sublights as we can. We can wait to jump until we pick up a Cylon strike force -
Apollo: We're easy targets. They're gonna jump right in the middle of our ships with a handful of nukes and wipe us out before we have a chance to react.
Doral: You can't just leave them all behind, you'll be sacrificing thousands of people.
Apollo: But we'll be saving tens of thousands. I'm sorry to make it a numbers game, but we're talking about the survival of our race, here, and we don't have the luxury of taking risks and hoping for the best. Because if we lose, we lose everything, and Madame President, this is a decision that needs to be made right now.
Roslin: Order the fleet to jump to Ragnar immediately. (Apollo and the pilot walk off.)
