This Is What I Think.

by me, Kerry Burgess, 04/29/2025 11:57 PM

It's that damn pillow.

This stupid desk isn't helping.

Recently, started sleeping in my bed with my head on a new pillow. It's causing me problems, starting a couple days ago. Scary problems.

Only reason I am making this note is because of "Dark Matter", that series on AppleTV adapted from the novel of the same name by Blake Crouch.

This campaign of mine has reached a very puzzling stage and I am guessing this is why it all started in the very first place: because of what I now discover

So, there is a large chasm between where I am now and where I want to be, preferably where I want to be beginning today

To cross the chasm, I need to define what exists in the chasm.

You monkeys out there cannot see past you own pathetic wishful-thinking. So you accept the possibility of "magic". Because you are a dim-wit. You are a dim-with and you think you have "film" on your iPhone. You're an Idiocracy moron that thinks A.I. is a real thing and not just what it is: a gimmick marketed at you because you're ignorant enough to think that streaming-video and television are the same thing. You cannot think for yourself and you believe anything you hear in a podcast.

So, I am stuck at a point where I do not accept stuff will just magically appear around me.

I think it will happen only if I have a rational procedure I am following.

Because if I accept that "magic" is real then whatever control I have over my new reality is no control at all and if I have learned anything from "Dark Matter" then it's that I don't want to be there.

Just because I think "magic" is stupid does not mean I am unimaginative.

I am completely imaginative.

*I* have made it this far.

*You* do not have even the first clue what any of this means.

*You* would have never figured out any of this on your own.

So, the chasm.

The chasm is an obstacle.

On one side, where I am now.

On the other side, a place where I can make pizza appear from nothing before and in a device that constructs fresh, edible pizza that is always 100% nutritious and that literally rejuvenates me.

I don't want to imagine that I see bugs crawling around inside it because it's something humans have never before experienced in a million years of evolution and it is making me neurotic because it is too good to be true.

So, if something like that appeared before me right now here in my apartment, would I accept that? Or would it begin causing serious mental-problems for me? Would my sense of reality begin to break down and then prevent me from consuming my pizza and existing in this reality as a normal person?

People *say* they believe in magic, but they really do not. They just want something to escape from their pathetic, meaningless lives and that's how they escape for a few moments. To delude themselves into imagining that magic is real.

It is not. You're pathetic. That's the only part that's real.

Recently, I wondered: why are these observations happening only with certain things and not other things?

It all seems to be happening with things at a distance.

So, this pillow. That's about as close at it gets.

So, today, the thought finally occurs to me: it's the pillow.

Today is 04/29/2025.

That becomes my Event Date variable in my original-work code-pattern.

Apollo 17

From Wikipedia

Apollo 17 (December 7–19, 1972) was the eleventh and final mission of NASA's Apollo program, the sixth and most recent time humans have set foot on the Moon.

At 6:35 p.m. EST on December 16, the CSM's SPS engine was ignited once more to propel the spacecraft away from the Moon on a trajectory back towards Earth. The trans-Earth injection SPS burn lasted just over two minutes.

During the return to Earth, Evans performed a 65-minute EVA to retrieve film cassettes from the service module's SIM bay, with assistance from Schmitt who remained at the command module's hatch. At approximately 160,000 nautical miles (184,000 mi; 296,000 km) from Earth, it was the third "deep space" EVA in history, performed at great distance from any planetary body. As of 2025, it remains one of only three such EVAs, all performed during Apollo's J-missions under similar circumstances. It was the last EVA of the Apollo program.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Identification_(literature)

Identification (literature)

From Wikipedia

Identification refers to the automatic, subconscious psychological process in which an individual becomes like or closely associates themselves with another person by adopting one or more of the others' perceived personality traits, physical attributes, or some other aspect of their identity. The concept of identification was founded by psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud in the 1920’s, and has since been expanded on and applied in psychology, social studies, media studies, and literary and film criticism. In literature, identification most often refers to the audience identifying with a fictional character, however it can also be employed as a narrative device whereby one character identifies with another character within the text itself.

Quotes

[first lines]

A Sailor: Can I help you, ma'am?

Blanche: Why, they told me to take a streetcar named Desire and then transfer to one called Cemetery and ride six blocks and get off at Elysian Fields.

A Streetcar Named Desire (1951)

Quotes

Blanche: You're married to a madman.

Stella: I wish you'd stop taking it for granted that I'm in something I want to get out of.

Blanche: What you are talking about is desire - just brutal Desire. The name of that rattle-trap streetcar that bangs through the Quarter, up one old narrow street and down another.

Stella: Haven't you ever ridden on that streetcar?

Blanche: It brought me here. Where I'm not wanted and where I'm ashamed to be.

Stella: Don't you think your superior attitude is a little out of place?

Blanche: May I speak plainly?... If you'll forgive me, he's common... He's like an animal. He has an animal's habits. There's even something subhuman about him. Thousands of years have passed him right by, and there he is. Stanley Kowalski, survivor of the Stone Age, bearing the raw meat home from the kill in the jungle. And you - you here waiting for him. Maybe he'll strike you or maybe grunt and kiss you, that's if kisses have been discovered yet. His poker night you call it. This party of apes.

A Streetcar Named Desire (1951)

Quotes

Stanley: You know what luck is? Luck is believing you're lucky, that's all... To hold a front position in this rat-race, you've got to believe you are lucky

A Streetcar Named Desire (1951)

Quotes

Blanche: I don't want realism. I want magic! Yes, yes, magic. I try to give that to people. I do misrepresent things. I don't tell truths. I tell what ought to be truth.

Stargate Atlantis - "Rising" - season 1 episode 1, tv-series premiere 07/16/2004

(from internet transcript)

SHEPPARD: Gateship One?! A little puddle jumper like this?!

FORD: It's a ship; it goes through the Gate: Gateship One.

SHEPPARD: Oh no, no, no, that's all wrong.

FORD: Doctor McKay thought it was cool.

SHEPPARD: Oh, OK. Well, it's official -- you don't get to name anything. Ever. (He speaks into the comms.) Flight, this is ... (he grins) Puddle Jumper. We're go for launch.

(In the Control Room)

McKAY: Er, this is Flight. I thought we were going with Gateship?

SHEPPARD (over comms): Negative, Flight.

McKAY: Stand by. (He turns to Weir.) It's a ship; it goes through the Gate, I, I ... (He trails off and speaks into the comms irritably.) Fine -- Puddle Jumper, you are clear for launch.

Stargate Atlantis - "Rising" - season 1 episode 1, tv-series premiere 07/16/2004

(from internet transcript)

PUDDLE JUMPER. The ship is through the Gate and in orbit around the Wraith planet. It cloaks.

SHEPPARD: Wow, this is cool.

FORD: Looks like you got the hang of it.

SHEPPARD: Tell you what, Lieutenant, a lot of fighter pilots would kill to fly this thing. It's like it reads your mind.

(Almost immediately, readouts appear superimposed over the front windshield.)

FORD: Did you do that?

SHEPPARD: I-I was just wondering where we go from here.

FORD: I'll take that as a yes. So how do we find them once we land?

SHEPPARD: Well I've been thinking about that too ... (On the wall beside him, a panel opens to reveal a small hand-sized device with a screen on it. He takes the device off the wall, looks at it and then puts it into his jacket pocket.) Now I'm thinking about a nice turkey sandwich.

(Sheppard and Ford look around the cabin but nothing else materialises.)

FORD: Worth a try.
