The notion of Humming Birds comes up a lot. I am not precisely certain what that is supposed to mean though.

There was a "The Simpsons" episode where "Apu" had to work such a long shift that he thought he was Humming Bird. In another episode about the Year 2000 computer problem, which was very funny, there was dialog from "Krusty The Klown" something about his heart pacemaker being set to "Humming Bird mode." In the December 1998 "Star Trek: Insurrection" there is a Humming Bird associated with a scene where the woman with "Picard" has slowed down time around them and the Humming Bird is shown in slow motion.

Harvey Fletcher, (born Sept. 11, 1884, Provo, Utah, U.S.—died July 23, 1981, Provo), U.S. physicist, a leading authority in the fields of psychoacoustics and acoustical engineering.
Fletcher graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, in 1907 and received a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Chicago in 1911. In 1916 he joined the staff of Bell Telephone Laboratories, where he worked for 33 years, primarily in the fields of speech, music, and hearing. Much of his work on the fundamentals of psychoacoustics is described in his book Speech and Hearing (1922).
Fletcher’s research group developed and demonstrated two separate but related methods for reproducing sound: binaural sound reproduction and stereophonic reproduction. He and his team gave the first public demonstration of stereophonic sound in 1934 in New York City.

In flight refueling
That was about the stress of flying aircraft at night. I can still visualize from the dream that the headlights cast light only about two feet, I would guess, ahead of the car on the road and that has got to be memory of my aircraft's anti-collision lights and probably before I shut them off while flying through a cloud.
Last night before falling asleep again I wondered if that dream was memory of me flying right seat in an US Navy EA-6 Prowler and that could be true because I remember there were more than two people in the car but then I decided that was not all of the reason for that dream. The reason I saw the gas station on my right side and then the two women with the coffee pot is because I was sitting in the front seat of a US Navy F-14 Tomcat and the Tomcat's refueling probe is mounted on the right side of the fuselage and then it extends out of the fuselage and out away from the fuselage in order for the pilot to connect to the refueling drogue. That must be the reason for the coffee pot. The coffee pot was the drogue from the refueling aircraft. The two women must have been the crew of the aircraft and the reason they seemed vaguely familiar is because that detail in the dream consisted of an actual memory of me visualising the crew of the refueling aircraft that I was talking to over the radio. I never did visualize those other people in the car with me in the dream and I feel confident they were the crew of other aircraft and probably my crew in the backseat of my aircraft.
I am not certain why I saw my arm extend out of the right side window and pour out the cold coffee because I wondered if that was actually me looking out the right side of my aircraft and looking at one of the wings. That is consistent the detail that I saw my arm extended out the window. More likely though is that I was again seeing the refueling probe of my US Navy F-14 Tomcat as I was refueling.
Seeing the water on either side of the road is probably about me lining up my aircraft to land at night on a US Navy aircraft carrier which can stressful at any time.

I had last night as I was lying in bed trying to go to sleep probably the longest sense yet to date of what my body would feel as it was levitating in the air. The sense was probably just for a second or two and was not really earth shattering in terms of the strength but I remember it today. I suspect, and I guess I hope, that the sense is supposed to condition my mind for the impending emergence of my power of levitation flight.

For a second there, I thought I was going to float off the bed. For a brief time afterwards, I thought over how the sense would be to float around inside my apartment.

Our bodily functions are governed by our nervous system, which consists of many nerve cells with extensions, or nerve fibers, that form a system of connections between the brain and spinal cord and the rest of the body. Signals in the nervous system are conveyed by weak electrical currents and by chemical substances. During the 1920s Herbert Gasser and Joseph Erlanger studied the properties and distribution of nerve fibers. They divided nerve fibers into two different types with different thicknesses and showed that the thicker fibers convey nerve impulses faster.
