Space Odyssey: Voyage to the Planets (2004) (TV)
Release Date: 9 November 2004 (UK)
Plot Outline: This two-part science fiction docu-drama examines the possibilities of a dangerous, manned space mission to explore the inner and outer planets of the Solar system.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Odyssey:_Voyage_to_the_Planets
Space Odyssey: Voyage To The Planets (released as Voyage To The Planets And Beyond in the United States) is a fictional story of a manned voyage through the solar system presented in the form of a docudrama. Space Odyssey premiered in 2004 and was made by the BBC. It was written and directed by Joe Ahearne and produced by Christopher Riley.
Five astronauts pilot the Pegasus spacecraft on a tour of the solar system. Their mission takes them to Venus, Mars, a close flyby of the Sun, Jupiter’s moons of Io and Europa, Saturn’s moon of Titan, Pluto, and the fictional Comet Yano-Moore. Most of the planetary destinations the crew reaches are followed by a manned landing there. The crew encounter many hardships and disappointments along the way. A Venus EVA that almost ends in disaster when the lander Orpheus encounters launch delays, a Titan probe that fails after deployment and the loss of samples from Jupiter's moon Io all test the crew's resolve. The most devastating blow comes when the ship's medical officer dies of solar radiation-induced cancer in Saturn orbit, forcing the crew to decide whether to continue the mission to Pluto, or abort and return to Earth. In the original British release, the crew decides to press on to Pluto, making history. The American version, broadcast on the The Science Channel, was trimmed for length, the crew deciding to turn back at this stage rather than continue.

Spaceship finds the star of Betlehem.
i like this episode very much because it has everythng i like: space, big spaceships, planets, a truth seeker, a scientist, monoliths with huge knowledge libraries and intelectual discussions between the two main characters.
is there a god? if there is a god why would he end a whole civilization to show the way for another one? why do we have the right to live and they have to just die? yeah, many questions in this episode and kind of makes you wonder about your life and the things you believe or don't. Dont expect aliens to be trying to kill anybody in this episode for they are already gone.

"Faith Off" is the eleventh episode of The Simpsons' eleventh season. The episode aired on January 16, 2000.
Homer visits Springfield University (from "Homer Goes to College") to pull a prank on Dean Bobby Peterson with his old nerd friends, Benjamin, Doug, and Gary (mistakenly referred to as his old roommates.) Homer tries to put a bucket filled with glue on the Dean's head, but another bucket full of glue is already above the door and falls on Homer's head, and he cannot get it off. The family attends a religious revival, hosted by a faith healer named Brother Faith, and Bart pulls the bucket off Homer's head. Brother Faith considers this act a sign that Bart has the "gift" of healing. Lisa is skeptical and attempts to use reason to explain that the hot stage lights heated the metal bucket, allowing Bart to pull it off. Undaunted, Bart becomes a faith healer, pulls miracles of his own, and even forms his own church where he heals Springfield's residents.
The church is cut short, however, when Milhouse is run down after he mistakes an oncoming truck for a dog. Bart had "healed" him of his myopia during his revival meeting by knocking his glasses off his face. Subsequently, Bart decides to end his career as a faith healer. Meanwhile, Homer prepares for Springfield University's homecoming football game by building a float that he has fashioned out of flowers he has stolen from Ned Flanders. At the game, everyone (including the family) cheers for S.U.'s football team's star player, a kicker named Anton Lubchenko. Homer gets drunk and forgets he has made a float to celebrate SU. He crowd surfs down to the playing field, and runs to his float. Unfortunately, the other floats have left the field and the players have come back on. Homer drives his float over the leg of Lubchenko, horribly wounding him. Fat Tony threatens to kill Homer with an ice pick if Lubchenko does not return to the game. Homer convinces Bart to try and heal the kicker. Bart prays to God to help him heal the kicker. With his team down by 2 points, Lubchenko returns to the game and kicks the winning field goal, losing his leg in the process. Bart announces at the end of the game that he does not have special powers and is not a healer. Dr. Hibbert tells Bart he is happy with this, as he will surgically reattach Lubchenko's leg and get all the healing business for himself.

Silent Running (1972)
Anderson: On this first day of a new century we humbly beg forgiveness and dedicate these last forests of our once beautiful nation to the hope that they will one day return and grace our foul earth. Until that day may God bless these gardens and the brave men who care for them.
Freeman Lowell: It calls back a time when there were flowers all over the Earth... and there were valleys. And there were plains of tall green grass that you could lie down in - you could go to sleep in. And there were blue skies, and there was fresh air... and there were things growing all over the place, not just in some domed enclosures blasted some millions of miles out in to space.

Silent Running is a 1972 science fiction film directed by Douglas Trumbull and starring Bruce Dern, Cliff Potts, Ron Rifkin and Jesse Vint.
The movie depicts a future in which all plant life on Earth has been made extinct. Only a few specimens have been preserved just outside the orbit of Saturn, in enormous, greenhouse-like geodesic domes attached to a fleet of American Airlines "Space Freighters". Freeman Lowell (Bruce Dern) is one of four crewmen aboard the Valley Forge, one of the 2,000 metre-long freighters, and is the resident botanist / agronomist / ecologist dedicated to preserving the forests for their eventual return to Earth, and the reforestation of the planet. In constant disagreement with his crewmates over the objective of their mission (they being more anxious to return to Earth after a one-year tour of duty), Lowell spends his time in the forests, cultivating the plant and animal life within them.
When orders come from Earth to jettison and destroy the domes (with nuclear charges), and return the freighters to commercial service, Lowell opts instead to save the last remaining forests in existence. After four of the six domes on the Valley Forge are jettisoned and destroyed, Lowell kills one of his crewmates in a struggle, which leaves his right leg seriously injured, but which prevents the destruction of one of the remaining domes. Lowell then manages to trap the other two crewmen in the other remaining dome, which he then jettisons and destroys. Enlisting the aid of the ship's three service robots (drones), Lowell stages a fake premature dome detonation and a cargo bay explosion as a ruse, and sends the Valley Forge careening away from the space freighter fleet, towards Saturn, in an attempt to hijack the ship and flee with the last forest dome. Injured and alone with the three drones, Lowell reprograms them to perform surgery on his leg.
Still in communication with the rest of the fleet, Lowell is informed that the Valley Forge is on a collision course with Saturn's rings, and there is nothing he can do to stop the catastrophic event. The ship will likely be destroyed. With communications failing due to the distance now between the Valley Forge and the rest of the fleet, the ship passes through the rings of Saturn. The three drones are outside the ship on maintenance duty, when Drone 3 is blown away from the ship, leaving two remaining drones. The ship, and the precious dome, emerge undamaged on the other side of the rings.
Totally alone, Lowell and the drones set out into deep space, away from the fleet, on a quest to maintain the forest. During the trip, Lowell befriends the drones, renaming them Huey, Dewey and Louie (Drone 02, 01 and in absence 03 respectively), teaching them to plant trees and play poker (in a memorable scene). However, Lowell's conscience sets in, as he instructs the drones to bury the crewman he killed in the dome.
With thoughts of the human toll he has taken to save the last forest, Lowell is horrified when he realises that his forest is dying from some unknown cause. Desperate, he rushes to the dome, badly damaging Huey in an accident with one of the ship's buggies. Repairs are unsuccessful, the forest is dying, and Lowell begins to come to the unsettling conclusion that his mission to save the forest has failed.
After weeks alone in space, faint radio chatter is heard from a rescue party mounted from the Valley Forge's sister ship, the Berkshire, which has located the freighter after a long search. Finally able to communicate with Lowell, they inform him that they will be able to reach him within six hours — he must jettison the dome — but not detonate the nuclear charge, as it is too dark to do so safely. Perhaps somewhat belatedly, given his botanical background, Lowell now realises that what was killing the forest was the lack of sunlight. With little time to work, he wires up several banks of grow lights to simulate sunlight, and instructs the last healthy drone, Dewey, to "just maintain the forest." Realising that his crime will be uncovered when the Berkshire finds an undamaged ship and a buried crewman, Lowell jettisons the last dome to safety with the words "take good care of the forest, Dewey."
With the Berkshire only two hours away from docking, Lowell and the damaged Huey are sitting down, facing each other, while Lowell arms the last of the six nuclear charges. Prepared to destroy himself to atone for his crime, and ensure the preservation of the last dome, Lowell says to Huey "When I was a kid, I put a note into a bottle, and it had my name and address on it. And then I threw the bottle into the ocean. And I never knew if anyone ever found it." With that, Lowell destroys the Valley Forge with the last of the onboard nuclear charges.
The final, poignant scene is of a well-lit forest greenhouse drifting into space, tended by the sole remaining drone with a battered watering can, with a musical accompaniment from Joan Baez.

Duck Dodgers was an American animated television series, based on the classic cartoon short Duck Dodgers in the 24½th Century, produced by Warner Bros. from 2003 to 2005.
Captain Duck Dodgers - A poor, hapless soul-Daffy-that was accidentally frozen for over 300 years. He was later revived by Professor I.Q. Hi in the 24th and one half century. Through scheming and lies he managed to trick everyone into believing he was a twenty-first-century hero. In reality, he was only a water-boy for a football team. He is selfish, gullible, and not particularly intelligent. However, he occasionally displays surprisingly high levels of heroism and competence, suggesting that he is not quite as daft as he appears to be, although he mostly succeeds through dumb luck and the work of the Eager, Young Space Cadet. He is played by Looney Tunes staple character Daffy Duck.

"The Luck of the Fryrish" is the fourth episode in season three of Futurama. It originally aired in North America on March 11, 2001.
Back in the 1980s, a teenage Fry hides the seven-leaf clover inside his Ronco record vault. In the year 3000, Bender opens the record vault, but Fry discovers that the clover is missing, concluding that Yancy must have stolen it. They happen across a statue of Yancy, with the seven-leaf clover in his lapel. The inscription: “Philip J. Fry-First person on Mars” angers Fry because he believes Yancy stole his name and his dream.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_secondary_characters_from_Futurama#The_Luck_of_the_Fryrish
Philip J. Fry II (deceased) – Nephew and namesake of Philip J. Fry, Philip J. Fry II owned the seven-leaf clover found by his uncle/great-grandfather in the 1980s. The clover ensured that he was the luckiest man in history. His achievements included a string of top ten hits with his band Leaf 7, a fling with an Icelandic singer-supermodel, and striking oil in the bathroom of the mansion that he won in the lottery. The achievement he’s most famous for, though, is being the first man on Mars. Philip Fry II was named in honor of Fry; based on his accomplishments, his personality seems to be very much like his namesake, however he looks identical to Yancy, his father. This led Fry, finding information about Philip Fry II, to believe Yancy had usurped his identity after he was frozen. Professor Hubert Farnsworth, Fry's great-great-great-...-great-nephew/grandson, is presumably a direct descendant of Philip J. Fry II, since Fry's only sibling was Yancy, and as far as is known Philip J. Fry II was Yancy's only child.

Earth 2 (TV series)
In 2192 most of the human population had fled Earth to live on large orbiting space stations. Only a small number of humans remain on the Earth’s surface as the Earth had become mostly uninhabitable.
Billionaire Devon Adair's eight-year-old son, Ulysses Adair, had contracted a rare but fatal disease called the Syndrome, a condition whose existence is not acknowledged by the government and medical community. It is theorized that this disease, which affects only children, is somehow caused by the lack of an Earth-like environment. Most children who are born with the disease do not live past the age of nine.
Desperate to save her son, Devon puts together an expeditionary project called the Eden Project, which intends to travel to an Earth-like planet called G889 in an attempt to find a cure for the illness. More than 200 other "Syndrome families" intend to follow Adair's advance party, joining them on the planet 22 light-years away from Earth to form a colony called New Pacifica. The project, however, is opposed by the government and secretly monitored and infiltrated with agents.
