Eleanor Abernathy, known as the Crazy Cat Lady and voiced by Tress MacNeille, is a woman with the appearance and behavior of a stereotypical mentally ill person. She is a cat hoarder and is always surrounded by a large number of cats. In nearly every appearance she screams gibberish and/or throws live cats at passers-by. Kent Brockman revealed the Crazy Cat Lady’s true name, Eleanor Abernathy, during an interview in the episode "See Homer Run".
She first appeared in the ninth-season episode "Girly Edition", in which she pelted Lisa with cats during Lisa's news segment at Kidz Newz. In the episode "I, (Annoyed Grunt)-Bot," the Simpsons' family cat Snowball II dies and after adopting two more short-lived cats, the Crazy Cat Lady appears and gives Lisa a cat that looks exactly like Snowball II. In the episode "Homer and Ned's Hail Mary Pass", the Cat Lady enjoys "brief moments of lucidity" after taking psychoactive medication. She abruptly resumes her usual bizarre behavior when Marge mentions that the "pills" are actually Reese's Pieces.
Even without medication, she appears to be very intelligent. In an episode in which Mayor Joe Quimby is recalled ("See Homer Run"), she runs for the mayor's office. During a candidate debate, she is asked what public-policy issues are important to her; unlike the other candidates (who act as stereotypical dishonest politicians), Abernathy discusses issues such as health care, economy, and public education in between her screams and gibberish (and a call for "cats in everyone's pants"). In "Springfield Up," it is revealed that Eleanor earned an MD from Harvard Medical School and a JD from Yale Law School -- both by age 24. In one scene, Eleanor is representing a client in open court and asks to be excused to deliver a baby. However, eight years later, she exhibits signs of alcoholism due to stress, and she has become very attached to her pet cat; she suggests that she might get another one. After an additional eight years, she has assumed her present appearance and behavior.

The Grumman F-14 Tomcat is a supersonic, twin-engine, two-seat, variable geometry wing aircraft. The F-14 was the United States Navy's primary maritime air superiority fighter, fleet defense interceptor and tactical reconnaissance platform from 1972 to 2006. It later performed precision strike missions once it was integrated with LANTIRN.[2] It was developed after the collapse of the F-111B project, and was the first of the American teen-series fighters which were designed incorporating the experience of air combat in Vietnam against MiGs.

Although similar in play to baseball, many new rules have been integrated into the game. These include:
The ball is attached to the field by an elastic tether, though powerful hits have been known to break it (a billboard just beyond the reach of the tether triggers an "automatic win" if the ball enters a small hole in the centre, and previous balls have been known to escape from Earth's atmosphere).
There is a mandatory "steroid injection" rule for players, but apparently Leela was exempt from the rule.
If the ball goes into a small hole in the center of the field (a 'third ball lock'), "Multiball" is initiated. At this time dozens of balls are shot at high speeds into the field, sending the players screaming.
Relief pitchers are conveyed from the bullpen to the pitcher's mound by means of a giant tarantula. (A notable exception was during Leela's stint as a relief pitcher with the New New York Mets, where she typically remained in the dugout).
A player may circle the bases on a hovering motorbike in some cases, causing the bases to explode.
Traditions of the game include aluminum bats and the 7th inning grope.
As revealed in a DVD audio commentary track, concerning the rules behind the sport, the writers apparently try to keep the full rules of Blernsball just out of the realm of understandability.

In "Night of the Meek," a department store Santa Claus is fired from his job, but soon discovers his toy sack is a magical deliverer of Christmas cheer. In "But Can She Type?," a miserable secretary cannot get a break until she comes across a copy machine that transports her to a world where secretaries are adored and honored for their hard work. And, in "The Star," a team of space archaeologists stumble upon a dead planet where its civilization died about two thousand years ago when its star went super nova. An aircraft carrier is a military ship whose main function is to deploy and recover aircraft. They are generally deployed as part of a carrier battle group which allows a nation to project power great distances without having to depend on local bases for land-based aircraft. Aircraft carriers are generally the largest ships operated by navies; a Nimitz class carrier powered by two nuclear reactors and four steam turbines is over 1,000 feet long and costs about $4.5 billion.
Aircraft carriers have two basic configurations. The most common has a flat top deck that serves as a take off and landing area for airplanes. A steam-powered catapult accelerates an aircraft under full throttle, from 0 to 165 mph in 2 seconds during take-off to help it reach take-off speed. To land on the carrier, incoming airplanes moving at 150 mph are equipped with tailhooks to engage one of up to four arresting cables stretched across the deck, stopping the aircraft within 320 feet after engaging a cable.

Parker Lewis Can't Lose is an early 1990s comedy television series produced by Columbia Pictures Television that was strongly influenced by the film Ferris Bueller's Day Off. The series originally aired on the Fox network from September 1990 to June 1993 (three seasons, 73 episodes), the last season sporting the simpler title Parker Lewis.
The series depicts the tribulations of the title character Parker Lewis, a Santo Domingo High School student, for whom nothing is impossible. Just like his best buds Jerry Steiner and Mikey Randall and his girlfriend Annie Sloan, his prime concern is achieving and maintaining coolness during the turbulent years of puberty. Thirty years ago today, the first wave of prisoners of war came home from Vietnam. Dubbed "Operation Homecoming," it saw the release of almost 600 of the 801 Americans captured during the war.
Today at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station, the freedom flights will be marked by a symposium and panel discussion hosted by a half-dozen or so Vietnam POWs. It's a hot ticket for people in uniform: Roughly 400 or more sailors and Marines are expected to attend.
Richard "Skip" Brunhaver, the pilot of a Navy A-4 Skyhawk, recalled being on the second flight out of Hanoi on Feb. 12, 1973. He spent 2,729 days, more than seven years, as a prisoner of war, most of them in Hoa Lo prison, better known as the "Hanoi Hilton."
He was 25 when he was captured -- his fighter-bomber went down because of mechanical trouble in August 1965 -- and 33 when he went home as part of Operation Homecoming.
No cheers came from on board when his plane took off from Vietnam, bound for Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines.
"We had developed so much cynicism over such a long period of time, you never knew," Brunhaver recalled. "You thought there might be some trick going on."
Brunhaver, now 62, said the mood changed once the plane crossed the coast.
"When we hit 'feet wet,' we knew it was for real. About that time, your brain clicked over and said it's time to start living again."

By paralleling Rosie Ruiz's cheating in the 1980 Boston Marathon, Bart cheats in the Springfield's equivalent. When Bart's dishonesty is quickly discovered, he finds himself in hot water with fellow competitors and spectators, so he accepts a stranger's offer to help him escape. The stranger reveals that his identity is L.T. Smash. L.T. offers Bart a career as a member of a boy band known as "The Party Posse". Bart accepts, and becomes Party Posse's 4th member, joining Nelson Muntz, Ralph Wiggum and Milhouse Van Houten. The Party Posse quickly ascend to stardom, albeit using complex voice enhancers built by NASA. No one is aware of the voice enhancer's use, and as such Party Posse's success depends on the voice enhancer.
The band releases a single titled "Drop da Bomb!", which contains the suspicious lyric "YVAN EHT NIOJ". Lisa's growing suspicion around The Party Posse eventually results in her discovering the line is a subliminal recruiting message to join the Navy, as Yvan Eht Nioj is Join the Navy written backwards. Lisa also discovers that L.T. Smash is, in reality, Lieutenant Smash ("LT" being the abbreviation for the Navy rank of Lieutenant). He says he is working to recruit people for the United States Navy.
Lisa points out her discoveries to Homer and Marge, but they dismiss her accusations as jealousy to Bart. The events come to a head when The Party Posse perform at a concert on an aircraft carrier, which only increases Lisa's suspicion towards the band. During the first song (which also contains subliminal messages), L.T. learns from his superior officer that MAD Magazine's next issue will lampoon The Party Posse, calling them The Potty Posse and thus the band will not have any recruiting power. L.T.'s superior officer terminates "Project Boy Band" by shutting off the band's voice enhancer, exposing the group's mediocre voices. L.T. becomes increasingly aggravated about his Superior Officers' actions, and threatens to send the carrier out to sea. When L.T.'s completes his threat, a terrified audience evacuate the carrier. The only people left on the ship are The Party Posse and Homer (Homer was unfortunately in the toilet at the time). L.T. sends the ship to New York City in an attempt to destroy the MAD skyscraper. Despite 'N Sync's attempt to stop L.T., he destroys the MAD building with the ship's missiles, but L.T.'s actions appear to only reinvigorate the MAD workers. After L.T.'s criminal actions, he is arrested and the potential of the fraudulent Party Posse remains unfulfilled.

Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen (2 May 1892–21 April 1918) was a German fighter pilot known as "The Red Baron". He was the most successful flying ace of World War I, being officially credited with 80 confirmed air combat victories.[1][2] Richthofen was a member of an aristocratic family with many famous relatives.
Richthofen is also known as "le Diable Rouge" ("Red Devil") or "Le Petit Rouge" ("Little Red") in French, and the "Red Knight" or the "Red Baron" in English.
Richthofen was killed just after 11 a.m. on April 22, 1918, while flying over Morlancourt Ridge, near the Somme River.
At the time, the Baron had been pursuing (at very low altitude) a Sopwith Camel piloted by a novice Canadian pilot, Lieutenant Wilfrid "Wop" May of No. 209 Squadron, Royal Air Force. In turn, the Baron was spotted and briefly attacked by a Camel piloted by a school friend (and flight Commander) of May, Canadian Captain Arthur "Roy" Brown, who had to dive steeply at very high speed to intervene, and then had to climb steeply to avoid hitting the ground. Richthofen turned to avoid this attack, and then resumed his pursuit of May.
It was almost certainly during this final stage in Richthofen's pursuit of May that he was hit by a single .303 bullet, which caused such severe damage to his heart and lungs that it must have produced a very speedy death.[12] In the last seconds of his life, he managed to make a hasty but controlled landing in a field on a hill near the Bray-Corbie road, just north of the village of Vaux-sur-Somme, in a sector controlled by the Australian Imperial Force (AIF). One witness, Gunner George Ridgway, stated that when he and other Australian soldiers reached the aircraft, Richthofen was still alive but died moments later.[12] Another eye witness, Sgt Ted Smout of the Australian Medical Corps, reported that Richthofen's last word was "kaputt" ("finished") immediately before he died.[13]
His Fokker was not badly damaged by the landing, but it was soon taken apart by souvenir hunters.

BOISE -- Idaho Republican Sen. Larry Craig will resign from the Senate amid a furor over his arrest and guilty plea in a police sex sting in an airport men's room, Republican officials said Friday.
Craig will announce at a news conference in Boise today that he will resign effective Sept. 30, Republican officials in Idaho and Washington said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The Stolen Valor Act of 2005 (the Act), signed into law by [ U.S. national traitor George W. The Act was first introduced into the United States Congress's House of Representatives on July 19, 2005 by Representative John Salazar, a Democrat from Colorado, as H.R. 3352.[2][3] It was introduced into the Senate by Senator Kent Conrad, a Democrat from North Dakota, on November 10, 2005 as S. 1998.[4][5] The Senate version was passed unanimously on September 7, 2006.[5][6] The Senate version then went to the same House Judiciary Committee that held the House version. The Act briefly stalled, but the House subsequently passed the Senate version, S. 1998, on December 6, 2006.[7]
The purpose of the Act is to strengthen the provisions of 18 U.S.C. § 704 by broadening its scope and strengthening penalties. Specific new provisions in the Act include: granting more authority to Federal law enforcement officers, extending scope beyond the Medal of Honor, broadening the law to cover false claims whereas previously an overt act had to be committed, covering mailing and shipping of medals, and protecting the reputation and meaning of military heroism medals.[3][5]
The need for the Act came about because of large numbers of fake military heroes in the United States. For example, as of June 2, 2006 there were only 120 living Medal of Honor recipients, but there were far more known imposters.[8][9][10] There are also large numbers of fake Navy SEALS[11][12] and Army Special Forces,[13] among others.
