Wading through the swamp of boring titles on Amazon Prime, settled on the 1993 "The Fire Next Time"
Referred to it before here on my blog, and I remember it clearly from its debut back then, viewing it now I clearly do not remember much about it, mainly because it is just forgettable
Making me think about other stuff from recent days. Wondering why I chose today to view it. It showed up in the list of titles on Amazon Prime Video but not as a title in the main search page. Was a title listed only after I looked at another title
Had to view it for a while before it dawned at me that Bonnie Bedalia is a common element, the only possible explanation for a common point that could, unlikely, be the reason for my choice to view it
Funny to see the predictions in this video from year 1993 of the future. Not sure if there is a specific declaration it is supposed to be the year 2017.
All those tiny solar cars buzzing around. The regular cars make funny sounds when the doors open and close. So that makes them futuristic. I think it's supposed to be some sort of gas-piston device. They ration gasoline and air-conditioning. They seem to have eliminated aluminum beer cans and now drink beer from what appear to be shampoo containers. California is burning the hell out it, as is no different than from the 1970s in a Mannix episode. You know he's one caring, altruistic SOB because he is standing there touching all the refugees as they escape the fires. Moronic hippie crap.
Probably not viewing much more it tonight. Best I recall, the hurricane destroys his fishing boat and so they flee the Gulf Coast and eventually arrive in Seattle. I remember that beat-up car they leave in and I remember it seemed sort of cheaply futuristic here in the real world of that time-frame. The Ford Taurus I think it was.
The photography of the sky is supposed to make it seem dystopian and ominous.
This also makes me think of a comment I made long ago about the stilted comments of Majorie Taylor Greene and now of her recent activities. Haven't looked at it closer yet. I hate that manufactured drama of those political-hacks but I suspect there is something there someone wants me to examine. Why I am letting them drive me towards their goals is beyond me. Does provide scope of the problem I have worked on for decades. If this was supposed to be about me only then you would have never read anything from me about anything
