This Is What I Think.

Today is 01/19/2026

The Improbable.

Those of you with enough interest and curiosity to follow along with my blog-posts here on my blog might remember my interest in the computer-game Space Engineers by Keen Software House, on Steam

Chewed all the flavor out of that bubblegum and have not had any interest in it for a long time, but it is still a style of game I hope to find

The computer-game Satisfactory by Coffee Stain Studios was comparable in my interest. Comparably, a much greater entertainment-value than any video title on Amazon for purchase (with one notable exception)

Recently, discovered Icarus by RocketWerkz, also on Steam. Not as complex and complicated as Satisfactory. Icarus has completely ruined my interest in Satisfactory because Icarus has such better graphics quality.

Why am I writing all this?

Last year, Keen Software House released Space Engineers 2

Looked interesting but it is still years away from the level of functionality as the first version.

So I have had no interest in it.

Early this morning, dragged myself out of bed for another day at this stupid desk, certain the answer is out there somewhere on the internet to get me out of here, and Space Engineers was the furthest possible thing from my mind

Later, opened the Steam application to look around, because I find interesting topics there for my research, and SUDDENLY I could not resist the impulse to purchase a copy of Space Engineers 2

So today, calendar-day 01/19/2026, that is what I did. Did not want to. Could not resist the impulse. Probably checking it out later today.

Anytime something like that happens to me, I must examine the calendar-day in my original-work and so that's what I am doing now.

The point of this note is for only one reason: the random - and after working on it for a while, the improbable - choice I made this calendar-day 01/19/2026

Identification (literature)

From Wikipedia

Identification refers to the automatic, subconscious psychological process in which an individual becomes like or closely associates themselves with another person by adopting one or more of the others' perceived personality traits, physical attributes, or some other aspect of their identity. The concept of identification was founded by psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud in the 1920’s, and has since been expanded on and applied in psychology, social studies, media studies, and literary and film criticism. In literature, identification most often refers to the audience identifying with a fictional character, however it can also be employed as a narrative device whereby one character identifies with another character within the text itself.

Star Trek: First Contact (1996)

(from internet transcript)

TROI: Would you three like to be alone?

PICARD: What have you found out?

TROI: There's no sign of Cochrane anywhere in the complex.

PICARD: He has to be here. There was nothing more important to him than this ship. This flight. It was his dream.

TROI: Captain, we should consider the possibility that Doctor Cochrane was killed in the attack.

PICARD: Huh. If that's true then the future may die with him.

BORG QUEEN: Locutus.

PICARD: I am Locutus of Borg. Resistance is futile.

(he is awakened by a comm bleep just as he is starting to be assimilated)

PICARD: Authorisation Picard four seven alpha tango. ...Admiral?

HAYES (on viewer): Did I catch you at a bad time Jean-Luc?

PICARD: No, of course not.

HAYES (on viewer): I've just received a disturbing report from Deep Space 5. Our colony on Ivor Prime was destroyed this morning. Long-range sensors have picked up...

PICARD: Yes, I know. ...The Borg.

Captains log, stardate 50893.5. The moment I have dreaded for nearly six years has finally arrived. The Borg, our most lethal enemy have begun an invasion of the Federation, and this time there may be no stopping them.

Meanwhile, in local news...

That guy is going to bleat on and on all morning today about some local guy that recently died

He hijacked an important issue that needed to be addressed about civil rights and equality here in the USA, but did so only to advertise his ridiculous superstition of the Jesus Christ mythology superstition
