The Karate Kid (1984)

So since the Seattle Seahawks, a criminal enterprise, has been organized to present associations to my true identity, which has tremendous commercial value, is that why the Seahawks lost the Superbowl a couple of years ago?

Batman Begins

1:04:15
If those are to be the first
of many injuries to come...

1:04:18
...it would be wise
to find a suitable excuse.

1:04:21
Polo, for instance.

1:04:23
I'm not learning polo, Alfred.

1:04:24
Strange injuries,
a nonexistent social life.

1:04:28
These things beg the question...

1:04:30
...as to what exactly does Bruce Wayne
do with his time and his money.

1:04:34
What does someone like me do?

1:04:36
Drive sports cars, date movie stars.

1:04:41
Buy things that are not for sale.

1:04:43
Who knows, Master Wayne,
you start pretending to have fun...

1:04:47
...you might even have a little
by accident.

:28:18
How are you?

:28:19
- What happened to your forehead?
- It's terrible. A gigantic runaway zit.

:28:23
That's gross.

:28:26
Daniel, this is Susan.
What really happened?

:28:30
I got in a bike accident.

:28:33
What kind of bike do you have?
A Honda? Suzuki?

:28:37
It's a Miyagi Turbo.

Push, Daniel.
Give it all you've got, kid. Push!

:03:05
Okay, we've got it. Come on.
Get in, hurry up.

:03:11
We did it again. Way to go!

:03:41
Daniel, wake up.

:03:44
Look off the starboard bow.
Paradise at last.

:03:49
We made it.

:03:52
Come on.

:03:53
This is it.

:03:56
This is the end of the line.

:03:59
You're telling me.

:04:01
Come on. All hands on deck.

:04:06
We've got to get this thing unloaded
before it sinks.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_8

Apollo 8 was the Apollo space program's second successful manned mission. Its crew – Commander Frank Borman, Command Module Pilot James Lovell and Lunar Module Pilot William Anders – became the first humans to orbit the Moon. It was also the first manned launch of the Saturn V rocket.

As they rounded the Moon for the ninth time, the second television transmission began. Borman introduced the crew, followed by each man giving his impression of the lunar surface and what it was like to be orbiting the Moon. Borman described it as being "a vast, lonely, forbidding type of existence or expanse of nothing". Then, after talking about what they were flying over, Anders said that the crew had a message for all those on Earth. Each man on board read the story of creation from Genesis. Borman finished the broadcast by wishing a Merry Christmas to "all of you, all of you on the good Earth".

The only thing left for the crew to do now was to perform the Trans-Earth Injection or TEI, which would occur 2½ hours after the end of the television transmission. This was the most critical burn of the whole flight. If the SPS failed to ignite, then the crew would be stuck in orbit around the Moon, with only about 5 more days of oxygen and no chance of escape. Once again, the burn had to be performed while the crew was out of contact with Earth, on the far side of the Moon.

The burn occurred perfectly on time. The spacecraft telemetry was reacquired as it re-emerged from behind the Moon at 89 hours, 28 minutes, and 39 seconds, the exact time predicted. When voice contact was regained, Lovell announced, "Please be informed, there is a Santa Claus", to which Ken Mattingly, the capcom, replied, "That's affirmative, you are the best ones to know". It was Christmas Day, 1968.

Gremlins

1:15:19
What are these things?
Where do they come from?

1:15:23
They're gremlins, Kate.

1:15:26
Just like Mr. Futterman said.

1:15:34
Now I have another reason
to hate Christmas.

1:15:38
What are you talking about?

1:15:40
The worst thing that ever
happened to me was on Christmas.

1:15:45
Oh, God. It was so horrible.

1:15:51
It was Christmas Eve.

1:15:53
I was 9 years old.

1:15:56
Me and Mom were decorating the tree. . .

1:16:00
. . .waiting for Dad
to come home from work.

1:16:03
A couple hours went by.

1:16:05
Dad wasn't home.

1:16:07
So Mom called the office.
No answer.

1:16:11
Christmas Day came and went,
and still nothing.

1:16:17
So the police began a search.

1:16:20
Four or five days went by.

1:16:22
Neither one of us
could eat or sleep.

1:16:26
Everything was falling apart.

1:16:29
It was snowing outside.

1:16:32
The house was freezing, so I went
to try to light up the fire.

1:16:36
That's when I noticed the smell.

1:16:43
The firemen came and
broke through the chimney top.

1:16:45
And me and Mom were expecting
them to pull out a dead cat or a bird.

1:16:50
And instead they pulled out my father.

1:16:57
He was dressed
in a Santa Claus suit.

1:17:01
He'd been climbing down the chimney. . .

1:17:03
. . .his arms loaded with presents.

1:17:06
He was gonna surprise us.

1:17:10
He slipped and broke his neck.
He died instantly.

1:17:18
And that's how I found out
there was no Santa Claus.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sullivan_brothers

The Sullivan brothers were five siblings who all died during the same incident in World War II, the sinking of the light cruiser USS Juneau (CL-52), the vessel on which they all served.

The Navy named two destroyers The Sullivans to honor the brothers: The Sullivans (DDG-68) and The Sullivans (DD-537). These were the first American navy ships ever to be named after more than one person. The motto for both ships was the very motto of the Sullivan brothers, "We stick together."

General William Devereaux: This is the land of opportunity, gentlemen. The opportunity to turn yourselves in.

General William Devereaux: The Army is a broad sword, not a scalpel. Trust me, senator - you do not want the Army in an American city.

After World War II, which saw the introduction of U.S. "5-star" officers who outranked Washington, both Congress and the President revisited the issue of Washington's rank. To maintain George Washington's proper position as the first Commanding General of the United States Army, he was appointed, posthumously, to the grade of General of the Armies of the United States by congressional joint resolution Public Law 94-479 January 19, 1976, approved by President Gerald R. Ford on October 11, 1976. The Department of the Army Order 31-3, issued on March 13, 1978 had an effective appointment date of July 4, 1976.[10] The rank ensures that no United States military officer outranks George Washington.

Season 1, Episode 5: Bart the General

Original Air Date: 4 February 1990

School bully Nelson Muntz has been terrorizing his classmates, particularly Bart. Bart and one of Nelson's goons get into a fight at school (when Bart was sticking up for Lisa), and in the aftermath Nelson accidentally gets a bloody nose. Nelson makes good on his threats to beat up Bart. Bart winds up having nightmares about Nelson stalking him, and later envisions his funeral. Finally, Grampa takes Bart to Herman, a Vietnam veteran who has had one of his arms amputated, to plan a strategy for getting back at Nelson. Bart commissions all his schoolmates whom Nelson has bullied and - in a classic parody of war movies such as Patton - trains them for their revenge. One afternoon after school, Bart and his army enact their operative, pelting Nelson and his goons with water balloons until he surrenders. The revenge is successful, and Bart and Nelson begin a grudging friendship.
