Vice Admiral James Bond Stockdale (December 23, 1923–July 5, 2005) was one of the most highly decorated officers in the history of the United States Navy. Shot down over enemy territory in 1965, Stockdale was the highest ranking naval officer held as a prisoner of war in Vietnam. He was released in 1973. He was awarded 26 personal combat decorations, including the Medal of Honor and four Silver Stars.
Stockdale led the U.S. air squadron during the 1964 Gulf of Tonkin Incident. During the late 1970s, he served as President of the Naval War College. Stockdale is also remembered as an ill-fated Vice Presidential candidate in the 1992 election, on Ross Perot's independent ticket.
As his introduction to the large segment of American voters who hadn't previously heard of him, the debate was disastrous for Stockdale. He was portrayed in the media as elderly and confused, and his reputation never recovered. This reminds me of the plot element of the 1976 movie “Midway” and of “ Tom Garth,” a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier torpedo-bomber aviator, and his Japanese-American girlfriend, who was in an internment camp. The Kingdome was an indoor sports and entertainment arena owned and operated by King County, Washington. Body of missing woman found in Burien
A Lynnwood-area woman who vanished five days before her 33rd birthday was found dead Monday in a wooded area of Burien.

Months of stalking end with 2 dead at UW
Rebecca Griego called her ex-boyfriend Jonathan Rowan "a psycho from the past." He wouldn't stop calling her office at the University of Washington. When she no longer would answer the phone, he harassed her sister and threatened to kidnap her dogs.
On Monday morning, Rowan found Griego alone in her fourth-floor office in Gould Hall and fatally shot her before killing himself.
The land owner, very suspiciously named Katharine Armstrong, reported the incident on 2/12/2006 and reported that it occurred on 2/11/2006. The victim of the attack reported the attack occurred on 2/10/2006. People described as witnesses reported the attack occurred on 2/11/2006.

Harry M. Whittington (born March 3, 1927) is an American lawyer, real estate investor, and political figure from Austin, Texas who received international media attention on February 11, 2006, when he was shot in the face by Vice President Dick Cheney while hunting quail with two women on a ranch in Corpus Christi, Texas.
On February 11, 2006, Whittington, a Bush-Cheney campaign contributor, was accidentally shot and injured by U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney during a quail hunting trip, at a ranch in south Texas owned by Katharine Armstrong. Most of the damage from the shotgun blast was to the right side of his body, including damage to his face, chest, and neck. He was taken to Corpus Christi Memorial Hospital by ambulance.
Armstrong stated that Whittington was shot when Cheney was shooting at a covey of birds. She also says that Whittington did not alert Cheney to his location and was simply caught in the middle.
The photo I saw of this officer on the local news reminded me of Kirk Tavener, who was my manager at Microsoft for several years that I worked there with my official United States federal undercover identity. I am certain that every one that I worked with there and that saw the photo of Seattle police officer Jack Lone, after he was reported dead, would also recognize the resemblance to Kirk Tavener and probably be concerned about their own personal safety.
I can make an educated guess that Kirk Tavener would see a photo of Jack Lone on the television news, after he was found dead, and Kirk Tavener would think to himself that the police would not be able to help him if he turns against Microsoft Corporation and cooperates with the investigation of the insurrection and criminal enterprise activities of Microsoft Corporation, if he was even inclined to cooperate with legitimate authority on this matter, where he is not so inclined to cooperate with legitimate authority on this matter.

Seattle police officer dies after fall into water

A Seattle police officer who fell into the ship canal was pronounced dead this afternoon at Harborview Medical Center.
Jack Lone, an 18-year-veteran assigned to the Seattle Police Harbor Patrol, was on shore this morning, working with a partner trying to tie up a tug boat that had become loose and was drifting, according to police. At some point, the partner, who was on the tug, noticed that Lone had fallen in.
The partner called for help, quickly suited up and then dove into the water, eventually finding Lone submerged in about six feet of water. He had been without air for 8-10 minutes, according to police.
Lone was taken to Harborview, where he was pronounced dead at 1:06 p.m.
Lone was the first Harbor Patrol officer to die in the line of duty since the unit was founded in the early 1900s, police said. He had been assigned to the unit for five years.

The Salt Lake City Public Library Hostage Incident occurred on March 5, 1994 when Clifford Lynn Draper held several hostages on the second floor in the former main branch of the Salt Lake City Public Library, which now houses a cultural center.
During a demonstration of a Tibetan sand painting ceremony, Draper leapt onto the service desk in the Fiction section brandishing a .45 semi-automatic firearm and claiming to have a bomb. He ordered nearby people into a nearby conference room, which included librarian Gwen Page, six civilians, and police officer Lt. Jay S. Bybee (born October 27, 1953 in Oakland, California) is a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He was originally nominated by President George W. Bush on May 22, 2002 and was confirmed by the United States Senate 74-19 on March 13, 2003.
Bybee graduated magna cum laude from Brigham Young University where he earned his Juris Doctor from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at BYU. He served as the Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Legal Counsel ("OLC") in the United States Justice Department from October 2001 to March 2003.
During Bybee's tenure, OLC authored the controversial August 2002 Bybee memo on detainee interrogation, more commonly known as the "Torture Memo," a Justice Department memo interpreting the statutory term of art "torture" as defined in 18 U.S.C. 2340. The "Bybee memo," was reportedly written in large part by his Deputy Assistant Attorney General John Yoo. The memo was a response to a CIA request for legal advice, a request routed to OLC by then White House General Counsel Alberto Gonzalez. The CIA inquired whether, after the September 11, 2001 attacks, it could aggressively interrogate suspected high-ranking Al-Qaeda members captured outside the United States. Section 2340 implements, in part, the obligations of the United States under the Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman and Degrading Treatment or Punishment.
Among other things, the memo concluded that "physical pain amounting to torture must be equivalent in intensity to the pain accompanying serious physical injury, such as organ failure, impairment of bodily function, or even death." Admittedly there were days when P.J. Carlesimo thought he'd never get a chance to be a NBA head coach again. He might as well have been a pariah immediately following his 1999 firing in Golden State, where he was the victim of a Latrell Sprewell choking attack two years earlier.
After eight years in exile, including a five-year stint with the San Antonio Spurs as an assistant, Carlesimo was given another chance and was introduced this afternoon as the new Sonics head coach.

Stinger is a humorless officer who believes that Galactica officers are inferior, like many other Pegasus crew members. He also believes that Lee "Apollo" Adama was given the position of CAG because of his father, Admiral Adama.
In the episode "Pegasus", Apollo is transferred to the Pegasus, and Stinger assigns him to pilot a Raptor for the reconnaissance mission of the Cylon fleet. His plan involves taking pictures within a magneto-tail of a moon to hide the DRADIS signature of the Raptor. Kara "Starbuck" Thrace is taken off the mission when she says that Stinger's plan "sucks" and recommends using the Blackbird to get closer to the fleet. She then disobeys his order and goes does the mission herself. Later, when Admiral Cain sees the pictures from the Blackbird, she promotes Starbuck to Captain and makes her the new Pegasus CAG. Cain said that she wants a CAG with "guts".
