Moving on up

I woke up about 7 PM Pacific Time this evening and I was feeling compelled to note that sushi is as important a detail as dry cleaning, for reasons that are not now obvious to the vast majority of you the audience as I document these criminal actions against my private property.

Tammy: So what do you do here, dad?

Donald Harris: What do I do? I'm a section officer. I keep the lights on, the water running, the heat running. See, that's what this says.

[shows his kids his security card]

Donald Harris: Triple A - "access all areas". That's me. I basically run the place, you know?

Tammy: Well, you're the caretaker really, aren't you?

[Don locks his kids inside a revolving door, then releases them with his security card]

Donald Harris: No, I run the place.

'NCIS' - 'Moonlighting' Recap

by Allison Waldman, posted Apr 27th 2010 11:24PM

(S07E20) The 'NCIS' gang was finally back. As much as the reruns are enjoyable, there's really nothing like a fresh episode. This was a fun episode because FBI agent Fornell was back, which means getting on Gibbs' nerves and good banter between the two. And then there was the girl from Tim's past. It's not what you think, but if you want to know more, read on.

For a change, the murder had nothing to do with the larger crime that NCIS and the FBI had to investigate. The petty officer had just been in the wrong place at the wrong time. After finding mob informant Stefano Delmar, Gibbs and Fornell started following the clues. The Judge was a least likely suspect, but it was logical that they wouldn't have introduced her for just one scene.

Other points of interest

The missing employee was the janitor, using the old 'bad sushi' alibi. At least he was green enough to make some believe it was true.

Thank God, It's Doomsday

"Thank God, It's Doomsday" is the nineteenth episode of The Simpsons' sixteenth season. The episode aired for the first time on May 8, 2005, in the US.

Homer runs around trashing Heaven, trying to change God's mind, and gets stopped by security. God finally agrees to undo the Rapture by turning back time (because, Homer points out, "Superman did it"). God incants, "Deus ex machina". Homer later wakes up on the mesa and is reunited with Marge, Bart and Lisa. He suspects that it was all a dream, but the fact that his final wish was granted (Moe's Tavern having been restored) indicates that the events were real.

This causes many of Springfield's residents to believe that Homer is right in predicting that at 3:15 p.m. on May 18, the apocalypse will come, and so the believers follow him to the Springfield Mesa to wait for it. However, the predicted hour passes without incident, and the dismayed citizens go home. All of them are annoyed at Homer, particularly Moe, who had sold his tavern to a Japanese sushi bar.

felony murder doctrine

a rule of criminal statutes that any death which occurs during the commission of a felony is first degree murder, and all participants in that felony or attempted felony can be charged with and found guilty of murder. A typical example is a robbery involving more than one criminal, in which one of them shoots, beats to death or runs over a store clerk, killing the clerk. Even if the death were accidental, all of the participants can be found guilty of felony murder, including those who did no harm, had no gun, and/or did not intend to hurt anyone.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felony_Murder_Doctrine

Felony Murder Doctrine

The felony murder rule is a legal doctrine current in some common law countries that broadens the crime of murder in two ways. First, when a victim dies accidentally or without specific intent in the course of an applicable felony, it increases what might have been manslaughter (or even a simple tort) to murder. Second, it makes any participant in such a felony criminally responsible for any deaths that occur during or in furtherance of that felony.

Deviance (sociology)

Deviance describes actions or behaviors that violate cultural norms including formally-enacted rules (e.g., crime)

Neutralization theory

Gresham Sykes and David Matza's neutralization theory explains how deviants justified their deviant behaviors by adjusting the definitions of their actions and by explaining to themselves and others the lack of guilt of their actions in particular situations.
