“And they're talking it to me”

Saint Croix is an island in the Caribbean Sea, and a county and constituent district of the United States Virgin Islands (USVI), an unincorporated territory of the United States. It is the largest of the U.S. Virgin Islands, being 28 by 7 miles (45 by 11 km). However, the territory's capital, Charlotte Amalie, is located on Saint Thomas.

Events of interest

Along with other nearby islands (notably Tortola), locals celebrate what is known as a full-moon party at the end of every month when there is a full moon in the sky.

Frederiksted is a town on the west end of the U.S. Virgin Island of St. Croix. It is home to Fort Frederik, constructed to protect the town from pirate raids.

Maybe it really was Frederiksted that she and I went to on some kind of vacation and that is why I have that key “memory“ of the anchor in my artificial and symbolic memory. And maybe that is why she starred in that film, "Drop Dead Fred," not unlike how my artificial memories are anchored to St. Croix. That seems be an important place for my wife and I. I can vaguely remember watching that movie at the theatre. And I just thought of how funny it is that the story is about an imaginary friend, no less.

Release date(s) 19 April 1991

Drop Dead Fred is a 1991 comedy fantasy film released by New Line Cinema. Rik Mayall stars as Drop Dead Fred, the imaginary friend of Elizabeth, played as an adult by Phoebe Cates. The supporting cast includes Marsha Mason, Tim Matheson, Carrie Fisher, and Ashley Peldon as young Elizabeth.
...
Elizabeth Cronin returns to live at home with her mother after losing her money, car, job and husband in her lunch hours.

In her room, she finds a jack-in-the-box, which held her imaginary friend, Drop Dead Fred, captive since she was a child. Unlike Elizabeth who is wholesome, sweet, and innocent, Fred is a troublemaker that often causes problems for Elizabeth. Of course, since Drop Dead Fred is imaginary, Elizabeth is actually the one creating havoc for herself. We learn that Fred exists to serve as an outlet for Elizabeth whose mother was abusive and demanding.

Elizabeth is taken to a psychiatrist (Alycia Lutz), who prescribes drugs to get rid of Fred. Furthermore, she reconciles with her husband, only to find out he's still cheating on her. Right before she takes the last pill to get rid of Fred, in an imaginary sequence, Fred leads her to decide to stop allowing her mother and husband to control her life. She moves out with the jack-in-the-box and begins a new life. Fred tells her that she no longer needs him, and she reluctantly agrees, kissing him goodbye, and he disappears.

The final scene has her talking with a real childhood friend Mickey. His daughter runs nearby them, in trouble for making a mess, which she blames on Drop Dead Fred. Fred is not truly gone; he's moved on to another child (i.e. Mickey's daughter). The daughter sets up a prank with Fred: hanging her nanny from a tree.

I haven't committed any crimes today (unless you count not being able to send flowers to my pretty imaginary girlfriend). I won't be committing any crimes tomorrow as is normal (except probably for the flower stuff).

Curious how the time period relates to our age difference. The date 11/25/1986 is the day I recognize that my family had a funeral for me because I was missing in Africa after being shot down by anti-aircraft fire.

From 11/25/1986 to 4/19/1991 is: 1606 days
From 3/3/1959 to 7/16/1963 is: 1596 days

1606 - 1596 = 10

Pauline was the name, in my symbolic and artificial memories, of my grandfather Joseph’s wife. I can never remember meeting his first wife, my paternal grandmother. I recall that grandpa Joseph Fletcher Burgess called her Polly.

[Polly has just finished reading a Fairy Tale]

Young Elizabeth: Did they live happily ever after?

Polly: Of Course Elizabeth.

Young Elizabeth: How do you know?

Polly: Because, she was a good little girl, if she would have been naughty, the Prince would have run away.

Young Elizabeth: What a pile of shit.

In the movie “Drop Dead Fred,” “Nigel” was the name of the actor who portrayed the father of the character Phoebe Cates portrayed. I assume the relationship of birth dates reflects that Phoebe and I are married and that we have children.

From 3/3/1959 to 7/16/1963 is: 1596 days
From 10/16/1951 to 3/3/1959 is: 2695 days

1596 / 2695 = 0.59

This is so funny in a zany the-Libyans-are-after-me-again-and-I-miss-home kind of way. I wish I had this particular thought in my journal when I was sitting in the park those days I was in the Downtown Emergency Services Shelter, but I didn‘t have computer access for a while. I did write that walking into that homeless shelter reminded me of "Reese" walking into that placed he lived while a soldier in the future in the 1984 "The Terminator." Anyway, I was sitting there in the park munching on some dry cereal Froot Loops that a social worker had given me and I was thinking about how familiar I was becoming with the mating rituals of pigeons. That was in June 2005, I think. I had been sleeping in my Jeep up in the mountains for a while until I had an appointment with a social worker because I was homeless. I had to leave my apartment before I would be evicted.

Jonny Quest (often referred to as The Adventures of Jonny Quest) was a science fiction American animated television series produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions, and created and designed by comic book artist Doug Wildey, about the adventures of a young boy who accompanies his father on extraordinary adventures. The first of several Hanna-Barbera action-based adventure shows, which would later include Space Ghost, The Herculoids, and Birdman and the Galaxy Trio, Jonny Quest ran on ABC in prime time for one season in 1964 - 1965. After spending two decades in reruns, new episodes were produced for syndication in 1986, and two telefilms and a spin-off series (The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest) later revived the characters for the 1990s.

From what I can tell, the "Jonny Quest" series started in the months after the 1964 Innsbruck Olympics. I have been thinking I won my first gold medal during that competition, which in turn, led to my involvement in the space program.

I wonder if I really did have blonde hair when I was younger or I am just "remembering" a photo of some other boy that is supposed to represent my youth in my artificial and symbolic memories. I don’t remember what I actually looked like in my youth.

Granville Van Dusen - Roger "Race" Bannon

Granville Van Dusen (Junior)

Birthday: 3-16-1944

Jonny Quest is a ten- or eleven-year-old boy (there is some question about his exact age; it is never stated in any of the show's episodes), the son of Dr. Benton Quest, "one of the three top scientists in the world," and apparently something of a Renaissance man; his scientific and technical know-how spans many fields. Mrs. Quest is presumed dead, possibly the victim of a plot against Dr. Quest, and mentioned only in the pilot episode ("Mystery of the Lizard Men").

Government fears that Jonny could "fall into the wrong hands" resulted in the assignment of a bodyguard, Roger "Race" Bannon, from Intelligence One. Bannon guards and tutors Jonny and Hadji Hadji is Dr. Quest's adopted son. an eleven-year-old Indian boy (his age was stated in one of the show's episodes, "Pirates from Below") who is seldom seen without his bejewelled turban and Nehru jacket.

The Quests have a compound in the Florida Keys, on the island of Palm Key), but their adventures take them all over the world. Jonny's pet, a small white french bulldog named Bandit, often provides comic relief although at least once ("Skull and Double Crossbones") he was instrumental in foiling the bad guys.

Dr. Quest travels the globe studying scientific mysteries, which get him into scrapes with foes that range from espionage robots and electrical monsters to Egyptian mummies and pterosaurs. Although most menaces were unique to the episode, one recurring nemesis is known as Dr. Zin, an Asian mastermind. Race Bannon's mysterious old flame, Jezebel Jade, also occasionally appears.

Tim Matheson performed the voice of Jonny. Mike Road was "Race" Bannon, Danny Bravo was Hadji, and Dr. Benton Quest was voiced by John Stephenson for five episodes, and by Don Messick for the remainder of the shows. Messick also provided Bandit's vocal effects, which were combined with an archived clip of an actual dog's barking. The voices of Dr. Zin and other assorted characters were done by Vic Perrin, who is best remembered as the "Control Voice" for the original The Outer Limits television series.

This has some bearing on the "Jonny Quest" series too. I think that first episode was something about a reptile. I was also writing in my journal years ago about that original “Star Trek” episode where "Kirk" fights that "Lizard Captain." There was that two-part, alternate universe "Star Trek: Enterprise" episode after that featuring that same kind of reptile.

The Lizard King is a mythic figure created as an alter ego by Jim Morrison, lead singer of the popular psychedelic rock group The Doors.

Morrison was deeply interested in occultism, both modern and classical. He was a proponent of both Jungian and Nietzschean ideas, and was also fascinated by Native American mysticism. Performances by the Doors often used words, actions, images and patterns intended to provoke a subconscious reaction in the audience. On stage, Morrison would often imitate a shaman by screeching, making animal sounds, suddenly falling over, and then either getting up laughing or playing dead. He would then slowly awaken from this "death" and smile wryly.

Shamans identified strongly with one deity—often embodied in an actual animal, such as a bear or a crow—in many forms of Native American shamanism. Morrison was fascinated by the lizard, believing that it symbolized a powerful force in the subconscious mind, epitomizing fear and longing in the psyche. His conception of the Lizard King has been interpreted by some as a recognition of a profound and transcendent spiritual reality. Like Buddha-nature, the Lizard King allegory represents a transcendent experience dormant in all humans, an archetype of the subconscious mind, like the achievement of nirvana. The Lizard King agitates and disrupts, much like a Trickster Hero. Attributes often associated with the Trickster archetype include cleverness and raw instinct.

The original "Godzilla" was some kind of pre-historic dinosaur, but the "Godzilla" from the TriStar Pictures 1998 re-make was a mutated iguana.

Godzilla is an American science fiction film directed by Roland Emmerich and starred Matthew Broderick, Jean Reno, Maria Pitillo, Hank Azaria, Michael Lerner and Kevin Dunn. It was remake of the Japanese film Gojira (Godzilla).

The film's opening credits play over a montage of French nuclear tests in the Pacific Ocean, observed by many marine iguanas.

The Marine Iguana (Amblyrhynchus cristatus) is an iguana that has the unique ability among modern lizards to live and forage in the sea. It is found only on the Galapagos Islands, but has spread to all the islands in the archipelago, and is sometimes called the "Galapagos marine iguana".
...
On his visit to the islands, Charles Darwin was revolted by the animals' appearance, writing:

The black Lava rocks on the beach are frequented by large (2-3 ft) most disgusting clumsy Lizards. They are as black as the porous rocks over which they crawl & seek their prey from the Sea. I call them 'imps of darkness'. They assuredly well become the land they inhabit.

The actor who portrayed the evil clone of “Captain Picard” in the latest “Star Trek: Then Next Generation” movie was born 41 weeks, 4 days, after 11/28/1976. I recognize the date 11/28/1976 as my last day on the Jupiter moon Callisto before my return to Earth on 4/14/1977.

I had a very clear dream of me back in uniform and given a new assignment on a base. I can remember seeing that I was wearing the USN Captain insignia on my khakis. I walked into a room where a change of command was going on. I'm not sure if I was told this in the dream or if I am assuming that is what's happening. I know or assume that the two officer's in the change of command were subordinate officers to me and that they were Commander's. Their command was a subordinate command to mine. I remember from the dream shaking hands with one of them and introducing myself as Captain. I can't remember the name I gave her but I think I said Captain Thomas Ray. There is also some kind of element to that part of the dream; something about it seeming silly to introduce myself by stating my rank because that was obvious or I was stating the obvious. And another unusual part was that they wouldn't tell me which one of them was taking command during that ceremony and which one was relinquishing command. I felt comfortable being back in that role, but yet, I felt as though I was still missing a few too many pieces of the jigsaw puzzle that is my mind, for my comfort. I probably serve better now for a while as an independent operative rather than an officer in charge of a large command where subordinates have certain expectations of their Captain.

Just Another Day Lyrics

(There's life underground)
I feel it all around / I feel it in my bones
My life is on the line / When I'm away from home
When I step out the door / The jungle is alive
I do not trust my ears / I don't believe my eyes
I will not fall in love / I cannot risk the bet
Cause hearts are fragile toys / so easy to forget
It's just another day / There's murder in the air
It drags me when I walk / I smell it everywhere
It's just another day / Where people cling to light
To drive away the fear / That comes with every night
CHORUS
It's just another . . . . . . . It's just another day
It's just another . . . . . . . It's just another day . . .
It's just another day--When people wake from dreams
With voices in their ears--That will not go away
I had a dream last night / The world was set on fire
And everywhere I ran / There wasn't any water
The temperature increased / The sky was crimson red
The clouds turned into smoke / And everyone was dead
(but) There's a smile on my face . . . For everyone
There's a golden coin . . . That reflects the sun
There's a lonely place . . . That's always cold
There's a place in the stars . . . For when you get old
There's razors in my bed / That come out late at night
They always disappear / Before the morning light
I'm dreaming again / Of life underground
It doesn't ever move / It doesn't make a sound
And just when I think--That things are in their place
The heavens are secure--The whole thing explodes in my face
