"he don't get no respect"

I'm thinking that I completed on 6/11/1981 my escape from Iraq after being shot down by anti-aircraft fire on 6/8/1981. One of the curious details about this appointment on 6/12/1981 is that he was selected for an Environmental Protection Agency position and that he was born in Orange, New Jersey, which reminds me of the school colors of Princeton University and the Princeton University Tigers mascot. There was also those POW/MIA announcements around this time, as well as recognition of the former Vietnam POW and the curious details associated with him.

Nomination of John P. Horton To Be an Assistant Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency

June 12th, 1981

The President today announced his intention to nominate John P. Horton to be an Assistant Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (Administration).

Since 1957 Mr. Horton has been president, Danline, Inc., manufacturer of power brushes for road and runway cleaning. In addition, since 1970 he has been treasurer of Growth Enterprises, Inc., a restaurant company. In 1970-78 he was president, Ecolotec, Inc., a manufacturer of vacuum street sweepers sold throughout the United States. In 1954-57 he was assistant director of development, Virginia-Carolina Chemical Corp. He was assistant to the president, National Dairy Research Laboratories, in 1951-54.

Mr. Horton has served as a member and chairman of the New Jersey Clean Air Council. He also served on the State Planning Task Force and the State Council on the Future.

Mr. Horton attended Swarthmore College (1943-44), University of Pennsylvania (1944-45), and the U.S. Naval Academy (1945-47). He is married, has four children, and resides in Bernardsville, N.J. He was born February 16, 1925, in Orange, N.J.

In my symbolic and artificial memory, Bobbilynn would complain that I would talk to other people about my strong feelings for her, but I would never talk about those feelings with her. I think she told me that not long before we stopped seeing each other and I would think about that in times when I wished we were still dating.

I keep thinking about a car I passed on the road up there in the mountains after I became homeless. They seemed out of place. There was the paparazzi-terrorists stalking me as they continue to do, but there was also this other car. I just couldn't put my finger on what it was. I wonder if Phoebe flew out here with someone and they were looking for me. They didn't talk to me; I guess they just wanted to see what happened to me. I left a tent down by the creek as a signal that others might have recognized although she wouldn't have known what that meant. I wonder about that car. It makes me feel lonely too to think about it. I don't know if it was her.

I don't know if she came out there looking for me or even knew I was missing, but I am sorry if she had to watch all that. It was all how it had to be and I am sorry she has had to watch certain aspects of my work, such as these past few years. I sense also that, while she might like certain aspects of all this, we actually weren't so bad off. It could just be that I was distracted by my work and she didn't understand that, although I actually should have been giving her more personal attention. I have good idea what she thinks, or so I think, but I am thinking she and I were a lot better off than she realized. I am thinking that overall we had a great marriage and that she didn't always understand my true feelings for her. But there was a reason for that. I will be able to explain it if we ever have any privacy. Maybe it has become obvious by now though, I don't know. It has all been for her. My song is for Phoebe, my wife. Whatever people write about me in the future, she is part of most of it. But regardless of me not being able to control a lot of what she found out about my work, anything she knows now that she likes, then I am glad she knows. That doesn't let the paparazzi-terrorists off the hook, but I am glad for any opportunity to make her happy. I am still not home, though, as a result of these goddamned terrorist-paparazzi's.

Curious how Adrienne Barbeau is his wife in this movie listed below. That reminds of what I wrote about staying with Jeannine Bowman after I returned from the Persian Gulf in 1988. There is a scene where she reminds me of a photo of Jeannine. I showed some friends those photos of her and I "remember" someone, maybe George's girlfriend, Mary, said Jeannine looked like a witch. I don't think that has anything to do with Adrienne Barbeau, but I am not really sure what it means, other than how my girlfriends in my symbolic and artificial memory seem to reflect military operations in reality.

The premiered date for that movie is also curious. The date is a Friday, and the previous day, Thursday, was 59 days after when I think I escaped from being a Prisoner of War of the Libyans. On the DD-214 for my official federal undercover identity, I was in Fire Controlman school during 1986 and 1987 when in reality, I think I was lost in Africa, trying to get back home. I escaped the Libyans after the prison I was being held at was bombed. We had contingency plans in place in case I was captured, such as has been happening over the past 9 years of this official federal investigation into terrorist activity sponsored by Microsoft-Corbis and their corrupted public officials. It is all quite humorous to watch, except of course, I would much rather be home with my wife.

Back to School is a 1986 movie starring Rodney Dangerfield, Keith Gordon, Sally Kellerman, Burt Young, William Zabka, Sam Kinison, and Robert Downey, Jr. The plot centers on a wealthy but uneducated father (Dangerfield) who goes to college to show solidarity with his troubled son (Gordon) and learns that he can not buy his education.

Author Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. has a cameo as himself, as does the band Oingo Boingo.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison was used as a backdrop for the movie, although it was called the fictional "Grand Lakes University."

Alice Cooper's song "The Great American Success Story" was apparently intended to be the theme song. Its lyrics summarize the plot and include Dangerfield's signature quip "he don't get no respect", and the chorus contains the title phrase. The song was not used in the film, and there is no mention of the connection in the liner notes of the album.

Another curious observation is the relationship of Phoebe's birthday to actress Terry Farrell. Terry Farrell portrayed "Worf's" wife in "Star Trek" and she was the very attractive, nice girl in this movie. This was probably a very accurate portrayal of her in my reality, although my reality at the time was fighting for survival in the desert of Africa and my family thought I was dead at the time.

I was at this base in 1986 for Fire Control Technician "A" School. The fictional college in "Back To School" was "Grand Lakes University":

Naval Station Great Lakes is the United States Navy's Headquarters Command for training issues, located in North Chicago, Illinois. Important tenant commands include the Recruit Training Center (Basic Training), Training Support Center and Naval Recruiting District Chicago.
