01/31/09 5:57 PM

I confronted a perp. with a camera as I was walking to the grocery store in the past hour.

I was walking along the barricade fence next to the undergoing construction of the Al Qaeda-Corbis-Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation building next to the QFC and I saw the perp. with the camera raise his camera over the fence. I saw multiple flashes from the camera as he pointed it at the construction behind the fence and then I saw him with the camera to his face as it was pointed directly at me. There was no mistaking that he had the camera pointed directly at me.

He and the man and woman with him turned around and continued towards the QFC I was going to and that I had almost reached. They crossed the street and I caught the same crosswalk light and caught up to him at the entrance of the QFC. He had the man and woman lined up in front of the entrance and the angle of the photo would have featured me walking by them and with the QFC sign in the frame. I pointed him out and confronted him about taking my picture a few minutes earlier and then I walked into the store

(from internet transcript)

Perry Mason: All right, Miss Corbin, this is it.

Eleanor Corbin: What is?

Perry Mason: I asked for a short recess because I wanted you to quit stalling and tell me the truth. You know, you may not have much time left for the truth.

Eleanor Corbin: You sound like I was already convicted and sentenced to die.

Perry Mason: To all intents and purposes, that's exactly the situation. Now, were you faking amnesia?

Eleanor Corbin: Yes.

Perry Mason: Were you running around the park that night half dressed? And if so, why?

Eleanor Corbin: Mr. Mason, I was appealing for help. I was trying to get somebody to follow me.

Perry Mason: Why did you want someone to follow you?

Eleanor Corbin: Because I wanted to lead them to where they could find Doug's body.

Perry Mason: You knew his body was there? You knew he was dead?

Eleanor Corbin: Yes. Doug and l were working on something very important. Every time we met, we got together there in the park. So when I went there this night Doug was lying there dead, and my gun was right beside him.

Perry Mason: Why didn't you go straight to the police, tell them what you and Hepner were working on, tell them exactly what had happened?

Eleanor Corbin: Because they wouldn't have believed me.

Perry Mason: They wouldn't believe the truth, but they would believe a phony amnesia act. Is that what you're trying to tell me?

Eleanor Corbin: No. No, you don't understand. I wasn't going to fake amnesia then. It was, well, when the police cornered me, I got panicky, I guess.

Perry Mason: Tell me, what was this story you'd dreamed up but you couldn't remember to tell the police?

Eleanor Corbin: Well, I got this idea that if I were found in the park, hysterical and disheveled, I could say I was there with Doug and a strange man accosted us and killed Doug and tried to assault me. Then I'd say that, well, I forced my way clear and was wandering around the park in a dazed condition.

Perry Mason: Go on.

Eleanor Corbin: Well, I rushed back to the apartment and then tore off some of my clothing and grabbed Ethel's raincoat to cover me in case someone should see me first and then went back to the park.

Perry Mason: If you were ever put on a witness stand and tried to tell a jury what you've just told me, I guarantee you'd be convicted of first degree murder. Now, I want the entire story, all of it, right from the beginning. And this time I want the truth.

The President's Weekly Address

January 31, 2009

This morning I'd like to talk about some good news and some bad news as we confront our economic crisis.

The bad news is well known to Americans across our country as we continue to struggle through unprecedented economic turmoil. Yesterday we learned that our economy shrank by nearly 4 percent from October through December. That decline was the largest in over a quarter century, and it underscores the seriousness of the economic crisis that my administration found when we took office.

Already the slowdown has cost us tens of thousands of jobs in January alone. And the picture is likely to get worse before it gets better.

Make no mistake, these are not just numbers. Behind every statistic there's a story.

Before departing, Commodore Ross issues instructions: "You're strongly encouraged, but not ordered to do so, to keep engaging the enemy. If however, the situation becomes untenable you're authorized to surrender. Semper fidelis.". Among the scattered, abandoned, and demoralized forces are the 58th, who are struggling to survive.

Jeffrey Epstein

From Wikipedia

Conviction and sentencing (2008–2011)

On June 30, 2008, after Epstein pleaded guilty to a state charge of procuring for prostitution a girl below age 18, he was sentenced to eighteen months in prison. While most convicted sex offenders in Florida are sent to state prison, Epstein was instead housed in a private wing of the Palm Beach County Stockade and, according to the sheriff's office, was, after 3+1⁄2 months, allowed to leave the jail on "work release" for up to twelve hours a day, six days a week. This contravened the sheriff's own policies requiring a maximum remaining sentence of ten months and making sex offenders ineligible for the privilege. He was allowed to come and go outside of specified release hours.

Epstein's cell door was left unlocked, and he had access to the attorney room where a television was installed for him, before he was moved to the Stockade's previously unstaffed infirmary. He worked at the office of a foundation he had created shortly before reporting to jail; he dissolved it after he had served his time. The Sheriff's Office received $128,000 from Epstein's non-profit to pay for the costs of extra services being provided during his work release. His office was monitored by "permit deputies" whose overtime was paid by Epstein. They were required to wear suits, and checked in "welcomed guests" at the "front desk". Later the Sheriff's Office said these guest logs were destroyed per the department's "records retention" rules, although the Stockade visitor logs were not. Epstein was allowed to use his own driver to drive him between jail and his office and other appointments.

Epstein served almost thirteen months before being released on July 22, 2009, for a year of probation on house arrest until August 2010. While on probation, he was allowed numerous trips on his corporate jet to his residences in Manhattan and the U.S. Virgin Islands. He was allowed long shopping trips and walks around Palm Beach "for exercise"

Identification (literature)

From Wikipedia

Identification refers to the automatic, subconscious psychological process in which an individual becomes like or closely associates themselves with another person by adopting one or more of the others' perceived personality traits, physical attributes, or some other aspect of their identity. The concept of identification was founded by psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud in the 1920’s, and has since been expanded on and applied in psychology, social studies, media studies, and literary and film criticism. In literature, identification most often refers to the audience identifying with a fictional character, however it can also be employed as a narrative device whereby one character identifies with another character within the text itself.

The typical United States American is childish and naive. Your feeble, dim-wit mind always thinks that movies, are always about *somebody*.

Americans, in their pathetic lives, are incapable of seeing through the messenger to the message.

Clinton Team Picks Apart Jones's Life

By Peter Baker and Lorraine Adams

Washington Post Staff Writers

Monday, February 23, 1998; Page A01

The 11th-floor New York Avenue law offices with a strategic view of Washington's majestic landmarks are a fair distance from the one-stoplight town of Lonoke, Ark. But these days there is little about Lonoke's most famous native daughter that is not known in the polished suites of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.

Piece by piece, President Clinton's top-dollar legal team has taken apart the life of Paula Jones, examining topics from her job history to her possible sex partners. They turned up a check she bounced when reimbursing the Arkansas government for personal calls made on state phones. They found previous employers who fired her for tardiness or other reasons. They scoured personnel records and discovered she typed only 24 words per minute and scored 121 out of 174 on an Arkansas state clerical examination.

Venturing into more salacious territory, they interviewed as many as a half-dozen men who claimed to have had sex with her, including some who said they met her casually at parties or bars and then engaged in quick encounters, according to people close to the case. One former boss signed an affidavit alleging that she pursued him at work and that they slept together. After their short-lived relationship ended, he fired her -- in part, he said, because she dressed too provocatively.

Now that the lawyers essentially have finished gathering evidence and made the final pretrial effort to get Jones's sexual harassment lawsuit thrown out, a picture has emerged of who the president's defense team is and where it is headed. Led by veterans of past high-profile political cases, the Clinton legal squad is following an aggressive and political risky strategy centered on Jones herself. After all the attention focused on a president linked by fact or rumor to a host of women -- most recently and most perilously Monica S. Lewinsky -- Clinton's lawyers hope to turn the spotlight with blinding intensity on the life of his most persistent accuser.

"Does her story make sense? It's always been our position to point out why it doesn't make sense," said Mitchell S. Ettinger, a Clinton attorney. "No one's going to argue they weren't in a room together. And you don't have to call her a complete liar. But everything she's said -- about her injuries to her job, her reactions to this, her reasons for filing suit -- it's not going to add up."

Remarks at the Dedication of the George C. Marshall Space Flight Center, Huntsville, Alabama.

September 08, 1960

I have long looked forward to visiting this spot. I know that, for an old foot soldier, it will be a revelation to see at firsthand the efforts here under way to probe into the mysteries of the universe millions of miles from our earth.

Already, in brief visits with your distinguished men of rocketry, I have made a significant discovery of my own.

I find that the leaders of the new space science feel as if Venus and Mars are more accessible to them than a regimental headquarters was to me more than 40 years ago, when I was a platoon commander.

To move conceptually, in one generation, from the hundreds of yards that once bounded my tactical world to the unending millions of miles that beckon these men forward, is a startling transformation.

Leoben: What is it about this place? What's it doing to me?

Adama: Must be your allergies.

Leoben: I don't have allergies.

Adama: I didn't think so. What you got are silica pathways to the brain, or whatever it is you call that thing you pretend to think with. It's decomposing as we speak.

Leoben: It's the storm, isn't it? It puts out something. Something you discovered has an effect on Cylon technology. That's it, isn't it? And this is a refuge, that's why you put a fleet out here. Last ditch effort to hide from the Cylon attack. Right, well, that's not enough Adama. I've been here for hours. Once they find you, it won't take them that long to destroy you. They'll be in and out before they even get a headache.

Adama: Maybe. (He grabs Leoben, pushes him up against the wall.) But you, you won't find out, because you'll be dead in a few minutes. How does that make you feel? If you can feel.

Leoben: Oh, I can feel more than you could ever conceive of, Adama. But I won't die. When this body dies, my consciousness will be transferred to another one. And when that happens, (he collapses to the ground with a groan) I think I'll tell the others exactly where you are, and I think that they'll come, and they'll kill all of you. And I'll be here watching it happen.

Adama: You know what I think? I think if you could have transferred out of here, you woulda done it long before now. I think the storm's radiation really clogged up your connection. You're not going anywhere. You're stuck in that body.

Leoben: Doesn't matter. Sooner or later, (he smiles) the day comes when you can't hide from the things you've done.

But then I decided that I probably started Princeton earlier than 1972 and maybe 1972 was the year I completed my first major degree. Or 1972 doesn’t really mean anything in particular to Thomas Ray; rather it is there for continuity sake for the life of Kerry Burgess.

Also, "Salesman." I saw that in a dream while sleeping recently.
