I don't think I have actually practiced surgery or practiced as a physician since she and I have been married. Except for in the field during combat. My primary responsibility in combat since after the Vietnam War was not as a field doctor but I have put those skills and knowledge to use when needed. My practice for the most part since I returned to Earth in 1977 has been as a neurosurgeon and psychologist. My work in neurosurgery has been on research cadavers and such types of research. One area that I have been especially interested in has been the condition known as Alzheimer's Disease. Also, as the scene in "Gremlin's"s illustrates, I wanted to restore awareness that Alzheimer was a person who studied the disease. I forget now what all I was trying to do to restore that awareness and even who was my target audience. I think I was just throwing out some details to have that effect.

Ah, yes. The Bavarian snowman. It was symbolic that its head was broken.
That snowman was also symbolic of the comet I diverted in 1976.
The association with Bavaria is because Alzhemier is from Bavaria and there was also that plot element about "Linda Barrett" going to live with her Abnormal Psychology professor, which is me.

I just looked up in a list I made earlier and Kerry Burgess would have been in 7th grade in the second half of 1978 and the first half of 1979. When he asked me to grade the homework of the 7th graders when I was in the 8th grade, that would have been in the second half of 1979 and the first half of 1980.

First residential crew arrives aboard the International Space Station
On November 2, 2000, the first residential crew arrives aboard the International Space Station. The arrival of Expedition 1 marked the beginning of a new era of international cooperation in space and of the longest continuous human habitation in low Earth orbit, which continues to this day.
The space agencies of the United States, Russia, Canada, Japan and Europe agreed to cooperate on the ISS in 1998, and its first components were launched into orbit later that year. Five space shuttle flights and two unmanned Russian flights delivered many of its core components and partially assembled the space station. Two Russians, Yuri Gidzenko and Sergei Krikalev, accompanied by NASA’s Bill Shepherd, were selected as the crew of Expedition 1.

A few minutes ago I started thinking that maybe I started at Princeton University in 1972. I would have been 13 at the time as Thomas Ray. I remember that Kerry Burgess started first grade in 1972. But then I decided that I probably started Princeton earlier than 1972 and maybe 1972 was the year I completed my first major degree. Or 1972 doesn’t really mean anything in particular to Thomas Ray; rather it is there for continuity sake for the life of Kerry Burgess.

I saw myself going through an induction process in the United States Marine Corps and I woke up understanding that I was dreaming of my actual experience in 1990. I saw a document that indicated I was being inducted to the United States Marine Corps with the officer grade of Chief Warrant Officer 2. I saw in the dream another document associated with my induction and that document indicated I had been assigned the informal name "Salesman."

A rescue mission is launched, but aborted due to the wormhole's changing properties and the danger to the rescuers. Lindy tells them to not attempt the rescue, and Nancy tells him the whole truth. Lindy plays a disk of Someone to Watch Over Me, the communication cutting out midsong. He is revealed to be on a planet with strange plants, waterfalls, and an abundance of wildlife.

Yesterday was some kind of foreign dream that was more of an emotion than a visualization. I couldn't remember any of the details although I felt like I had been seeing details. All I remembered was feeling like it was something intense, there was some intensity to the communication, almost overwhelming like a very strong and clear signal on a radio. After I woke up, I could only characterize the message as positive.
Today the first foreign dream wasn't too clear either. It had something to do with me, someother characters, and something about the stars. We were under the stars, or we were talking to the stars. I can visualize the sky with the stars but they may have also been a metaphor for people. Then I left somewhere and there was something about a goose, not sure what that meant, maybe something to do with staying meant something about a cooked goose.
The second foreign dream had a lot of detail. I was sitting on a bus with someone that I knew but I don't know who it was. It may have been Britney Spears but that makes no sense. I was sitting next to her and she was someone that I had lived with before, someone I had a relationship with, like a girlfriend. I was getting off the bus to a place I was staying that I don't recognize from anyplace I've been in real life. She asked me if I was really staying there, she may have commented that it was amazing I was staying there, or someone else said that. Apparently, it was the same place she and I had lived during our relationship. It was some kind of little travel trailer. A young woman was letting me stay there. I was taking up a little open seat or bench in a hallway of the trailer. I had a little storage bin to put my stuff in.

There was that dream I had the other night, where I was inside a missile. I remembered today the similarity with this movie, in that Cochrane converted an ICBM into his warp ship. But why would someone create a connection between me and Cochrane? I didn't create warp drive in the past only to have someone block my memory of that, did I? It's funny, when I read something the other day about Data arguing with Einstein, it reminded me of something I was writing in my journal back in the early '90s. I was wondering why it was impossible to travel faster than the speed of light. A couple years ago I was writing about it again. The idea presented itself to me about why it was impossible, something about atoms not being able to work because electrons could not transfer energy faster than the speed of light. I wondered if it was possible to create some kind of process to transfer energy to those atoms, not unlike a cell's mitochondria works. Today I have been wondering if anything I remember about the past is real. Do I have a different past? Am I really who I think I am? The stuff I imagine happening to me sometimes, did that stuff really happen?

And too add on that is my memory of about the year 1978. Theda was married to Randy Romine at the time and at his house he had a really tall High Amplitude Modulation tower antenna. I climbed it often in the dark of night and I used it sometimes to drop my "R2-D2" model rocket to test its parachute. I couldn't afford the Estes chemical rockets back then so the only way it could get airborne was for me to drop it from the high altitude of that tower. I thought of that often years later when my occupation in the United States Navy was to ensure the accuracy and computer fire control of guided missiles and gunfire.

The White House announced that because the Iran-Iraq cease-fire has reduced the military threat in the gulf, the Navy no longer will accompany American-flagged merchant ships on every mile of their transit, although U.S. warships will remain in position to respond to any attack.

May 4, 2005, was the day I went to the Kent Police department for help. I named George W. Bush specifically as one of the people harassing me. The policeman didn’t ask me any questions. He dumped me off at the St. Francis hospital in Federal Way where the first thing they did was secretly drug my food. I found it very hard to restrain the urge to laugh shortly after I had eaten.
