WEIR: Explain that.
BECKETT: His sweat glands are actually producing trace amounts of their signature pheromone.
WEIR: And?
BECKETT: When we were in the cave, those bugs knew we didn't belong there, so they didn't really fancy us getting close to their nest.
McKAY: Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa. I see where you're going with this. If we can artificially create the pheromone, it might be able to confuse them enough to leave us alone.
BECKETT: Aye, that would work.

This also makes me think of something I was thinking about as I was trying to fall asleep earlier. After a while, I would start to think that I was actually looking in the direction of the missile explosion on 5/9/1985 and I saw the warhead explode just before it knocked me out briefly.

Whenever I ponder over 5/9/1985 and try to visualize whatever details are swirling around in my mind, I tend to think, in that particular occurrence, that the missile had come from above and then exploded over us. But I don't know. Maybe it was coming straight in and it exploded short of us but still close enough to cause the damage it caused. Or I am confused about other similar experiences where certain details are different but where the outcome was the same or very close to the same outcome as you would expect from a warhead exploding next to you.

HOUSTON – Brig. Gen. Charles Duke, who served as the lunar module pilot of Apollo 16, was named the 2020 Texan of the Year on Tuesday.
The honor was bestowed by the Texas Legislative Conference during an event at Space Center Houston.
Duke, 84, was born in North Carolina and grew up in South Carolina. He’s called Texas home since 1975.
He is one of only a dozen people to have walked on the moon. His voice was well known to people during the iconic Apollo 11 mission when he served as CAPCOM and answered Neil Armstrong’s “the Eagle has landed” call.
“Roger Tranquility,” Duke said on July 24, 1969. “We copy you on the ground. You got a bunch of guys about to turn blue. We’re breathing again. Thanks a lot.”
Duke conducted a total of three extra-vehicular activities during Apollo 16’s mission to the Descartes Highlands. He spent a total of 20 hours and 14 minutes walking on the lunar surface.
“General Duke is one of a mere dozen humans to have ever walked on the surface of the moon and looked back toward Earth,” said E. Ray Covey, chair of the Texas Legislative Conference. “His perspectives are unique and his efforts have paved the way for tremendous advancements in science and technology that we all enjoy today.”

ADAMS COUNTY, Wash. — A crash involving three semi-trucks closed both lanes of eastbound Interstate 90 west of Ritzville on Tuesday morning.
Initial reports said there were multiple crashes involved in the backup but responding troopers said only the semi-trucks were involved, Washington State Patrol Trooper Jeff Sevigney said.
Troopers told KREM that one person was taken to the hospital for minor injuries following the crash.
Both lanes of eastbound I-90 were closed for several hours on Tuesday morning but have since reopened. Troopers say a detour is no longer in place.
Troopers said one truck lost control on snow and ice and its trailer detached. The next truck that came along did not see the trailer until the last minute and drove through as the trailer blocked the road. Another truck then ran into the back of the crash scene.
Troopers said speed likely played a role in the crashes.
Washington Department of Ecology crews say two trucks leaked 300 gallons of diesel fuel into soil in the area.
Drivers can expect areas of fog and slick roads around Moses Lake, Davenport and Ritzville on Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
"When drivers do not change their driving behavior and drive on the ice at freeway speeds, they tend to lose and control and crash," Sevigney said. "You must adjust your driving behavior accordingly."
Icy roads have also delayed openings for a handful of central Washington school districts, including Moses Lake and Ephrata.
Multiple car crashes and spin-outs closed a portion of I-90 east of Moses Lake on Sunday. Authorities said poor weather conditions contributed to the crashes.

Surrealism was officially launched as a movement with the publication of poet André Breton’s first Manifesto of Surrealism in 1924. The Surrealists did not rely on reasoned analysis or sober calculation; on the contrary, they saw the forces of reason blocking the access routes to the imagination. Their efforts to tap the creative powers of the unconscious set Breton and his companions on a path that carried them through the territory of dreams, intoxication, chance, sexual ecstasy, and madness. The images obtained by such means, whether visual or literary, were prized precisely to the degree that they captured these moments of psychic intensity in provocative forms of unrestrained, convulsive beauty.
Photography came to occupy a central role in Surrealist activity. In the works of Man Ray and Maurice Tabard, the use of such procedures as double exposure, combination printing, montage, and solarization dramatically evoked the union of dream and reality. Other photographers used techniques such as rotation or distortion to render their images uncanny. Hans Bellmer obsessively photographed the mechanical dolls he fabricated himself, creating strangely sexualized images, while the painter René Magritte used the camera to create photographic equivalents of his paintings. In her close-up photograph of a baby armadillo suspended in formaldehyde, Dora Maar performs a typical Surrealist inversion, making an ugly, or even repulsive subject compelling and bizarrely appealing.
But the Surrealist understanding of photography turned on more than the medium’s facility in fabricating uncanny images. Just as important was another discovery: even the most prosaic photograph, filtered through the prism of Surrealist sensibility, might easily be dislodged from its usual context and irreverently assigned a new role. Anthropological photographs, ordinary snapshots, movie stills, medical and police photographs—all of these appeared in Surrealist journals like La Révolution Surréaliste and Minotaure, radically divorced from their original purposes.
This impulse to uncover latent Surrealist affinities in popular imagery accounts, in part, for the enthusiasm with which Surrealists embraced Eugène Atget’s photographs of Paris. Published in La Révolution Surréaliste in 1926 at the suggestion of his neighbor, Man Ray, Atget’s images of vanished Paris were understood not as the work of a competent professional or a self-conscious artist but as the spontaneous visions of an urban primitive—the Henri Rousseau of the camera. In Atget’s photographs of the deserted streets of old Paris and of shop windows haunted by elegant mannequins, the Surrealists recognized their own vision of the city as a “dream capital,” an urban labyrinth of memory and desire.

I wrote earlier about my game to shake off the people following me. I found it somewhat humorous but slightly annoying when I saw a car commercial with a real celebrity (reminds me of Shelley's Among the stars that have a different birth by virtue of them knowing why people are following them) racing away from paparazzi while he is also taking pictures of them with his camera. I believe they were doing that because I had written about that in my journal and they read what I wrote, not to mention those commercials came out after I launched my efforts to take pictures of the people following me.

The detail from Fear the Walking Dead is still valid. But it also seems designed to make me PERSONALLY look at those images. Closely examining my images I discovered what appears to be a bridge that seems to have never existed in reality.

I can see that similar "structure" in my image DSC00221.jpg The date stamp is 2 minutes earlier. I would have traveled about 2 miles in that amount of time.

However, at mile marker 201 on the Google Streetview images, I can see in the distance the hill where Mile marker 203 is and that's the location of the overpass apparition.

Even at mile marker 200 I can see that hill in the distance. So it's possible the ghostly overpass would appear in more than one of my images.

So, the prevailing theory now is that my image must be from my original Universe. I just checked Google Streetview from August 2007. There's no overpass there at Mile 202. But there is still something valid about this exercise. And I am baffled by my photo

Because I have such a good match on a photo from a couple minutes earlier. Traveling at 70 mph for two minutes significantly narrows down the location I captured the image. And I can find no overpass around there anywhere. My only explanation is it's from my original Macrocosm

The perspective is slightly different because the Google camera is mounted high above the vehicle, is my guess. But no overpass. That image of mine from 9/26/2013 shows clearly what I can only guess is an overpass above the interstate.

I've searched over and over the Google satellite maps and I can find nothing similar in that area. I narrowed down the area because of the timestamps of my original photos.

I passed Exit 149 at 4:13 PM 44 minutes later is when I was in the section that appears to have the overpass above the interstate I-90 at what I guess is Mile 202. There is no overpass in that area on the Google maps that I can find. If I had been traveling at 60 mph

If traveling 60 mph then 44 minutes later I would have been about Mile 193. But I wasn't traveling 60 mph. I haven't confirmed this detail but I would guess the speed limit back then in 2013 was 70 mph, as it is in recent Google images I've examined today.

So traveling around 70 mph then 44 minutes later I would have been beyond Mile 193. Not much beyond but still *beyond*. The area in question is Mile 202.

I've explained my rational process for arriving at that point. HOWEVER I would possibility have NEVER examined closely that image IF NOT for that Fear the Walking Dead tv episode I watch last night for the first time.

The ONLY REASON I examined closely that image was because I could see there was a mile marker sign in the image. I could not read the number on the sign and so I zoomed in on the image to try to read the mile marker number. That's when I noted the overpass.

So, after some work, I seemed to narrow down the location to Mile 202 on interstate I-90 in Washington State USA, an image captured by me personally on 9/26/2013, the most recent time I have traveled that area.
