Joel Edgerton and Alice Braga lead the travelers’ story, while Margo Martindale gives its unlikely host a history of her own. Oakes Fegley, Dayo Okeniyi and Amanda Brugel help connect that history to the wider multiverse.
That reciprocity is the episode’s most rewarding development. Laurel is not simply a convenient nurse placed in the travelers’ path. Helping people gives her opportunities to be helped, and the refuge becomes a shared project rather than a service she performs alone.
Laurel’s experience with other visitors also supports the connection between a traveler’s inner state and the worlds they reach. The Box responds to thoughts and feelings that are not always easy to command. Wanting to arrive somewhere and being emotionally ready to reach it are different problems.

Very interesting dream that featured prominently my imaginary girlfriend, whom made me smile today. She told me in the dream "when I'm ready." That's what I was hoping to hear, but then, just like sitting in front of the tv, none of it is really real. There was at least one, maybe more, weird strange aspects to the dream, but I think it was just mischief on the part of the dream manipulator. I figured she was personally directing the dream and threw that in to screw with my head, or someone else was relaying her comments/whatever-however-it's-done to my sleeping mind. After awaking I was extremely annoyed at the people that are actively disturbing my sleep. I slept one time for almost 6 hours, but all the other times are no more than 3 hours every 12 hours or so. I'm going crazy here, I need some goddamned sleep.
And before the happy-time-with-my-imaginary-girlfriend segment of the dream, there was something about something collapsing that I didn't want to be around.

That was tremendously violent dream to awake from. I remember many of the details leading up to the ending after the altercation started. I saw people trying to escape. I had taken cover behind a pickup truck parked on the curb and with a building behind me, I saw body parts dropping around me from a large battle going on in the street between me and the pickup truck. The point where I awoke was when blood was raining down on me in drops and I was trying to cover myself by what I started thinking after waking was a corpse that was hanging over the side of the pickup truck.
