An important note about this contraption in my images

At that point in the game, resources are very limited.

The sun is sinking below the horizon there on the surface of the Moon.

That is a considerable circumstance at that point

The structures that produce more advanced features require energy and the only source of energy available to me at that point is from solar-panels.

So that original and significant modification by me to the basic vehicle was from parts and equipment I could build at that point and was very limited. You can see the hole in the surface where I excavated regolith for the very basic refining of ore and manufacturing capabilities of that vehicle

Later when I had more advanced structures and resources then I created more advanced vehicles

The vehicle actually has a thruster installed with it as the basic vehicle but I did not know how to use it at that time

The reason I created the external thrusters was because I wanted easy access to water-ice, from which fuel for the thrusters is created

The game started with the vehicle located far from the polar regions, where water-ice is abundance.

The player-character requires energy and fuel for the character's spacesuit. That factor also causes a player to rush to develop sources of resources.

Using resources available to me at that point, I created the only parts I could form to give it flying capabilities. It was not an obvious means for giving it flying capability. Without the convenience of opposing lateral thrusters, making it difficult to turn while in flight and then to land because it had a tendency to drift to one side
