Today is 05/16/2022

Sometimes, I've already created a note about a specific calendar-day but didn't notice anything happening that day I found compelling

Then, later, I find something and then make a closer look at the code-pattern that is my original work

In this case, I noticed today this title on Amazon Prime and decided to watch it for the first time today, 05/16/2022

For some reason, I had already looked for anything about 12/20/1994 - and the wacky theory of mine that suddenly formed in my conscious mind that one day over a decade ago now - and I made a brief note about it in my archive files

Zombies are completely boring to me now and the video-preview doesn't look that great for what seems obviously a low-budget production, which I am also bored with, but there are aliens involved.

And, apparently, the E.T.'s are the cause of the zombies, or whatever they are, some sort of body-snatcher/zombie, I guess, so that sort of seems interesting enough to give it a shot.

Watching again recently, previously here on Number 878: The Farthest Man From Home, that 1987 title, aside from the lameoid and campy acting that was about as bad as the 2002 "Windtalkers" (comparison active in my mind as I watched the 1987 title on a recent day), what strikes me most of all was the protagonist soldiers appearing from the treeline when the battle was over

As for this title today I'm watching now, these videos are usually either made or broken in the first few minutes. The camera work isn't bad. I really like trees at night as settings for my photography, which I don't get to do enough. Not entirely low-budget, there are some very good scenes establishing the terrain, probably from flying drones. The actors are British, so loses a lot of points right there in terms of my interest, especially because the location is British. The actors are competent so that helps to continue watching it for purposes of my research.

With an hour left to go, is so extremely boring. There is some drama to the story so far but for the most part, before it makes a boring attempt at a good-sister/bad-sister story, is just about the nice, peaceful forest setting away from the growling monsters, We dress like students, we dress like housewives or in a suit and a tie, I changed my hairstyle, so many times now I don't know what I look like!

The landslide-inaccessible-except-by-tunnel-to-the-old-army-compound certainly catches my attention, and not because of detail I've written before of same

See, here's the thing.

I have demonstrated incontrovertibly my formidable genius.

*If* the purpose of this code-pattern I've discovered and enlightened you dim-wit dullards with is supposed to be *instructive* to me of pending future events then *why* am I still *here*? Why am I not tucked away somewhere in some secret, completely safe bunker? So, something just doesn't quite add up. So none of this I've discovered portends any sort of immediate danger. Just cannot figure out What. Is. The. Point. !!!

Finally made it to the end of the video. Mild suspense. No resolution to the conflict. No further explanation than from at the beginning, which makes the whole thing pointless and lameoid. Only reason I'm mentioning it is because of the calendate date listed for it on IMDb. Certainly will not ever watch again for its entertainment value, of which I found none.

Episode 12 Season 1

US Marine Corps Major Jack Colquitt: I know that a judge sentenced you to the Marines. That is your ticket out. You go on this mission, the old man will sign it. Lieutenant Hawkes, you're the best natural shooter there is aboard Saratoga. Now, normally, a mission of this intensity would require long-term training. But Intelligence indicates it needs to be executed in the next seventy two hours and my regular partner just bought it on Cloth Hill. The Fleet Imagery Interpretation Unit has detected the presence of a high-ranking enemy officer on the planet Tigrus. We believe that this is the same individual who commanded the attack on the Vesta colony. The mission is fairly straightforward. Insert on planet, make our way to a designated location via a system of interlocking waterways. We find this individual, and we terminate the target. It's an extremely high-risk assignment, Lieutenant, one I believe is worth taking. And that's the reason I'm empowered to offer you this special reward if we're successful. Understand this, mister. Whether you decide to accept this assignment or not this mission does not exist. It will never have existed. If you go, the rest of the Marines of the 58th squadron will have no prior knowledge of your departure nor will they have any information at all about the nature of your disappearance.

Subject: Microsoft might take a new look at lethal injection

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/261975_lethal07.html

A decade ago, when Microsoft executives made lethal injection the primary way to execute pesky competition, it was considered less barbaric than hanging and less likely to bring long, costly trips to the woods.

Bill Gates has called lethal injection "undoubtedly innovative" and said that ruling otherwise would be "tantamount to forbidding the death penalty altogether for our competitors."

But now, as death row competitors in other states claim it's cruel punishment because it may not bring a peaceful death as once believed, some managers say Bill Gates will likely have to look for another more painful method.

"It's pretty clear that this method of execution has the potential to cause a great deal of pain -- and maybe even more pain than some of the methods we're using now and we like that."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kulak

Kulak

From Wikipedia

Kulak (Russian: 'fist' or 'tight-fisted'), also kurkul or golchomag, was the term which was used to describe peasants who owned over 8 acres (3.2 hectares) of land towards the end of the Russian Empire. In the early Soviet Union, particularly in Soviet Russia and Azerbaijan, kulak became a vague reference to property ownership among peasants who were considered hesitant allies of the Bolshevik Revolution. In Ukraine during 1930–1931, there also existed a term of pidkurkulnyk (almost wealthy peasant); these were considered "sub-kulaks".

Kulak originally referred to former peasants in the Russian Empire who became wealthier during the Stolypin reform of 1906 to 1914, which aimed to reduce radicalism amongst the peasantry and produce profit-minded, politically conservative farmers. During the Russian Revolution, kulak was used to chastise peasants who withheld grain from the Bolsheviks. According to Marxist–Leninist political theories of the early 20th century, the kulaks were considered class enemies of the poorer peasants. Vladimir Lenin described them as "bloodsuckers, vampires, plunderers of the people and profiteers, who fatten themselves during famines", declaring revolution against them to liberate poor peasants, farm laborers, and proletariat (the much smaller class of urban and industrial workers).

During the first five-year plan, Joseph Stalin's all-out campaign to take land ownership and organisation away from the peasantry meant that, according to historian Robert Conquest, "peasants with a couple of cows or five or six acres [~2 ha] more than their neighbors" were labeled kulaks. In 1929, Soviet officials officially classified kulaks according to subjective criteria, such as the use of hired labour. Under dekulakization, government officials seized farms and killed most resisters, deported others to labor camps, and drove many others to migrate to the cities following the loss of their property to the collectives.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dekulakization

Dekulakization

From Wikipedia

Dekulakization was the Soviet campaign of political repressions, including arrests, deportations, or executions of millions of kulaks (prosperous peasants) and their families. Redistribution of farmland started in 1917 and lasted until 1933, but was most active in the 1929–1932 period of the first five-year plan. To facilitate the expropriations of farmland, the Soviet government portrayed kulaks as class enemies of the Soviet Union.

More than 1.8 million peasants were deported in 1930–1931. The campaign had the stated purpose of fighting counter-revolution and of building socialism in the countryside. This policy, carried out simultaneously with collectivization in the Soviet Union, effectively brought all agriculture and all the labourers in Soviet Russia under state control.

Hunger, disease, and mass executions during dekulakization led to approximately 390,000 or 530,000–600,000 deaths from 1929 to 1933. The results soon became known outside the Soviet Union.

Under Joseph Stalin

Joseph Stalin announced the "liquidation of the kulaks as a class" on 27 December 1929. Stalin had said: "Now we have the opportunity to carry out a resolute offensive against the kulaks, break their resistance, eliminate them as a class and replace their production with the production of kolkhozes and sovkhozes." The Politburo of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) formalized the decision in a resolution titled "On measures for the elimination of kulak households in districts of comprehensive collectivization" on 30 January 1930. All kulaks were assigned to one of three categories:

Those to be shot or imprisoned as decided by the local secret political police.

Those to be sent to Siberia, the North, the Urals, or Kazakhstan, after confiscation of their property.

Those to be evicted from their houses and used in labour colonies within their own districts.

Those kulaks that were sent to Siberia and other unpopulated areas performed hard labor working in camps that would produce lumber, gold, coal and many other resources that the Soviet Union needed for its rapid industrialization plans. In fact, a high ranking member of the OGPU (the secret police) shared his vision for a new penal system that would establish villages in northern Soviet Union that could specialize in extracting natural resources and help Stalin's industrialization.

Star constellations

I wasn't going to write about a dream I just before waking up and getting out of bed but I was later in the shower and I started thinking about a possible explanation for the star pattern I saw in my dream and so I decided to write about that part and to try to write the least about the rest of the dream as I could, which I feel compelled to not write about for no real reason.

The compelling part about the dream is the pattern of stars I saw. The dream seems to have started with me and I was out in the woods somewhere and the light was dark and I had some kind of ability to radiate laser beams from my fingers or somehow create laser beams. As I think more about that as I write this now I thing again that I did not actually see the laser beams but I am vaguely aware that I could see the patterns I created on people with the laser beams. The notion of the laser beam is never really visually established in the dream but that is a notion that is strongly in my mind after waking up. The last thing I seemed to do with my laser beam power was that I saw myself form a pattern of stars on the ground to my left. The power seemed to stop working at that point. I also found my puzzled about how there were five stars in my creation when I expected only four. Since I was wearing those stars on the epaulet on my black jacket then I was thinking of how the United States Marine Corps has never had a five star general officer and I don't think the USMC should ever have a five star general officer.

What I puzzled about was how the pattern of those stars did not seem consistent with how an officer of the United States military would wear a five-star pattern on his uniform. I seemed to be wearing the winter working dress uniform of the United States Navy. What was unusual was how one of the stars was set away from the other four stars.

When I was in the shower and was thinking about that visualization in my mind of those stars that I had created on the ground and then was wearing my shoulder, on the black jacket that is the type United States Navy sailors used to refer to as the "Eisenhower" jacket, I wondered if that pattern was supposed to represent the star constellation we call the Big Dipper.

Ah, yes. That has got to be it. Just now as I wrote that word "Big Dipper" I remember dialog that happened soon later that is consistent with that notion.

So going back to what I was thinking as I decided to write this note, I thought about how my visualization of the star pattern did not match the Big Dipper very well. But then I started to wonder if I was seeing the pattern of the Big Dipper while I was standing on a planet or moon that circled a star that was very distant from our planet Earth.

I keep thinking of reasons why that all could be just a normal dream. But maybe it is not.

After my laser beam power stopped working, I saw some of the people I had been forming laser beam patterns on and they were all getting into cars and leaving in a long procession of army-type vehicles. They all seemed to be from World War 2. I noted the color pattern of one of the vehicles but I cannot think of any comment to make about it.

Then I seemed to be a sentry on a hill in downtown Seattle Washington. I was aware that I was totally alone in my role. I was also aware I was wearing a United States military uniform but I cannot visualize any details about it from the dream. I was there for a long time. Some kind of conflict started among a few local people that had walked up and I was trying to stay out of it. The next part I remember from the dream is that I was sitting in a room and there were people around me and one was the old woman whose dialog is consistent with the notion that I was seeing the star pattern of the Big Dipper constellation. Then a woman stood up and she was also wearing the winter dress uniform of the United States Navy and I saw the postal clerk rating symbol on her uniform. Then I saw a person walk into the room I was in from the room next door with the half-window walls and where I had been aware that a conference was going on that all of us had been waiting for to get finished and that person who walked out of that room was a person that I understood in the dream to by my brother Thomas Reagan and he seemed to be about eight years old. He was also wearing the winter working dress uniform of the United States Navy and I noticed just after I saw the woman's rating symbol that he was also wearing the postal clerk rating symbol. But he had the E-1 rate white symbol patch on one sleeve and the E-2 rate white stripe patch on the other sleeve, which is definitely not a uniform standard of the United States Navy. After thinking about that after waking up I decided that detail is supposed to represent the E-1 and E-2 aircraft of the United States Navy.

As he walked up to me, I asked him where he had been because I have been standing on that hill everyday. There was some unspoken dialog about me having food during that time.

There was some other stuff that happened in the dream but I decided to end this note with his response to me about how he had heard I had picked up more stars. I distinctly remember his words to me at that point. He asked me "Is it worth it?"

At that point, I took off two stars from the jacket epaulet on my shoulder, which seemed to be the type used for award stars on United States military medals and ribbons, and I was aware that left me with three stars on my shoulder.

So as I was wondering after getting out of the shower is that I could have just had a normal dream. But I could have just dreamed that final star symbol I need.

by me, Kerry Burgess, excerpts from my private journal: 11/15/10 11:49 AM

In a dream that was, I think but am not certain now having been awake for a while, just before waking, I was walking through a large shopping mall but the scenes I can remember made it seem to actually be an office building and I was mainly walking through hallways. There were some scenes outdoors, as though on a walkway that was part of that building but yet there was a lot of plant growth and other foilage fairly close by and in the distance. I made my way to my destination and many details I have now forgotten, but at the point where I was at my destination, where there were other people mingling about, I was clearly wearing my uniform that clearly designated my standing as a United States Navy Fleet Admiral. I could clearly see the shoulderboards on my shoulder, after I took off the dress blue uniform jacket and there was clearly the gold layering over the shoulderboards as well as the silver stars, which were not arranged in a single line through the center of the shoulderboard. At that point, I seemed to be just walking around and I overheard a group of people that were saying something and I don't remember the precise words of there conversation but what I remember now is they seemed to be saying something about extraterrestial beings and that was intriquing to me so I sit down behind them and close enough so I could overhear what they were saying. I vaguely recall they seemed to be discussing how the aliens appear in their physical form. There also seemed to be some discussion about me personnally and of my status as United States Navy Fleet Admiral but I am not certain if that was the same people but it seemed to be the same people but I write this now and that seems to confusing because I was right there close to them as they talked. I could clearly see that I was wearing my uniform to signify my five-star officer grade but I also still have a clear vision from the dream that my identification card signifying only that my rank was a E-4. I have thought about that a few times since waking up but I now decided to record these observations because that might not signify a paygrade but something about my function similar to the US E-4 airborne command and control aircraft.

by me, Kerry Burgess, excerpts from my private journal: 11/15/10 12:05 PM

After that point where I was listening to those people talking and where I was looking at my uniform, I saw myself walking back up some kind of long ramp that was part of that hallway system that I had been walking on to get to my destination, which seemed to be outside. As I walked back through there I began to understand that I did not know how to get back and I ran into a dead end at one point that I think was a kitchen. There were several paths through the hallways so I took a methodical approach to trying to find my way back to where I was trying to go, which was never established in the dream, or at least not that I can now recall.

HISTORY

THIS DAY IN HISTORY

Aug 11, 1984:

Reagan jokes about "outlawing" the Soviet Union

A joke about "outlawing" the Soviet Union by President Ronald Reagan turns into an international embarrassment. The president's flippant remarks caused consternation among America's allies and provided grist for the Soviet propaganda mill.

As he prepared for his weekly radio address on August 11, 1984, President Reagan was asked to make a voice check. Reagan obliged, declaring, "My fellow Americans, I'm pleased to tell you today that I've signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes." Since the voice check was not actually broadcast, it was not until after he delivered his radio address that news of his "joke" began to leak out. In Paris, a leading newspaper expressed its dismay, and stated that only trained psychologists could know whether Reagan's remarks were "a statement of repressed desire or the exorcism of a dreaded phantom." A Dutch news service remarked, "Hopefully, the man tests his missiles more carefully." Other foreign newspapers and news services called Reagan "an irresponsible old man," and declared that his comments were "totally unbecoming" for a man in his position. In the Soviet Union, commentators had a field day with Reagan's joke. One stated, "It is said that a person's level of humor reflects the level of his thinking. If so, aren't one and the other too low for the president of a great country?" Another said, "We would not be wasting time on this unfortunate joke if it did not reflect once again the fixed idea that haunts the master of the White House."

Reagan's tasteless joke provided additional ammunition for commentators at home and abroad who believed that the anticommunist crusader was a reckless "cowboy" intent on provoking a conflict with the Soviet Union. Ironically, the man who also referred to Russia as an "evil empire" went on to establish a close personal relationship with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev after the latter came to power in 1985. The two men later signed the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty in 1987, which eliminated an entire class of nuclear weapons.

THOR When it became clear to the Asgard High Council that the war with the Replicators could not be won, a plan was devised, a trap was set. One made possible by you.

CARTER By us?

THOR The android Reese that you discovered and provided to us for study retained a single core command in her base programming which we believed all Replicators would still follow.

CARTER Then, you were able to reactivate her?

THOR No. The android was damaged beyond repair. However, the key command was activated within her neural network, amplified, and broadcast through subspace throughout the known universe.

CARTER What was the command?

THOR To come forth.

JONAS You instructed every Replicator out there to come to you?

O'NEILL I have a theory why you lost the war.

THOR The command was only given once the trap was set.

JONAS What was the trap?

THOR A time dilation device generating a field radius of point one six light years.

CARTER Wow, that's some trap.
