Aurora cinema shooting: Obama visits survivors [ RACKETEER INFLUENCED AND CORRUPT ORGANIZATIONS US Title 18 ]
US President Barack Obama has arrived in Colorado to honour victims of Friday's gun attack at a Batman film screening that left 12 people dead.
Mr Obama first visited the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora to meet survivors and families of victims.
In his weekly radio address, he called for prayer and reflection on the gun rampage in the Denver suburb.
Pope Benedict has voiced "deep shock" over the attack which left another 58 people injured, some critically.
The gun suspect, James Holmes, 24, currently being held in solitary confinement for his own safety, is reported not to be co-operating.
Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates said Mr Holmes had "lawyered up" and is not talking.

Twitter is celebrating its fifth birthday - it's five years to the day since co-founder Jack Dorsey sent the first ever tweet on the fledgling social networking service, telling fellow founders Evan Williams and Biz Stone that he was 'just setting up my twttr'.
Dorsey's first tweet, sent at 8:50pm on March 21 2006, was quickly followed by tweets from co-founders Stone and Williams - who both posted exactly the same message.

I don't remember when I first read this. But it sure resonates with me. It is even ironic the part about May. If I'm not mistaken, it was May 31 when I gave up my apartment. I want to sit down and try to write out as much of a timeline after that as possible, but I can't remember a lot of the details, although I knew all along that my tormentors knew exactly what I was doing and where I was located every minute of every one of those days. And so in this message below, he is talking basically about how people can talk about being your friend, but it is when the world throws you down into some really dark place, it is your friends that are going to be there with you. And I remember those first 9 days I was starving and I couldn't believe not only were they still oppressing me with their cage, but that no one even attempted to leave any food on my doorstep or something like that.

Airplane Chugs Up Speed of 206 miles
Mt. Clemens, Oct. 11. - Another demonstration for speed, which shows, army and navy experts declare, that the coming Pulitzer trophy will bring several new air records was made at Selfridge Field late today. The flight was the first for the new navy Wright racer, that has been known as the "mystery" ship. The plane was driven by Lieut. L.H. Sanderson of the Marine Corp, at an unofficial rate of 209 miles per hour. With a little "working in" of the machine it is expected send the machine at a much faster pace.

Microsoft co-founder turned entrepreneur and Seahawks owner Paul Allen is getting a bit more public.
He has started Twittering, with a post on Sept. 22 that offers a glimpse into the secret life of the Mercer Island billionaire:
"In Kona working on the book .... and Adriana has killer rellenos..."
Allen was presumably referring to his memoir, which is being published by Penguin Group, and Adriana's Mexican Food.
Today he posted an item about a symposium at the Allen Institute for Brain Science, and gave kudos to Seahawks fans and coach Pete Carroll:
"We couldn't have done it Sunday without the crowd. Chargers saw what the 12th Man is all about. Congrats coach."
Among the people Allen's following on the service are his old pal Bill Gates, Richard Branson, Al Gore, Peter Gabriel, Rufus Wainwright, Carroll and players on his teams: the Seahawks' Matt Hasselbeck and the Blazers' Greg Oden and Brandon Roy.

I wonder if I created that dialog in the 1996 "Independence Day" about how "Hiller" would not get to fly the space shuttle if he married a stipper because I was planning to launch my final mission to date on 2/11/1997. But the dialog I think is about Kerry Burgess and how he was going to marry a woman who worked as a stripper. I had a consistent and extensive line of thought recently that the woman is Lindsay Dawn Mackenzie but then I looked her age and she seems too young. Her age could be wrong though and to make her look a couple years younger.
