Several pilots are already dead and especially raider Scar is feared. Meanwhile Starbuck hasn't been herself lately. She drinks a lot, thinks much about Anders and is getting irritated by Kat. She continually challenges her, beats her record in training and calls her the next Tigh. Both claim they will hunt down Scar. 200 cubits and the precious Top Gun trophy, currently in Starbuck's possession, are at stake.

SHORTLY AFTERWARDS. Otho has brought John to another very familiar-looking room. It's a Jumper Bay containing at least four, possibly more, Puddle Jumpers. A couple of them are covered with sheeting but others are not, and they are covered instead with cobwebs and dust. The whole Bay obviously hasn't been used for many years. John and Otho walk alongside one of the Jumpers.
OTHO: Do you know what this is?
SHEPPARD (evasively): You tell me.
OTHO: It's a flying machine -- or at least it used to be. We ran out of power a long time ago. I know you have some understanding of these things, even though you try not to show it. I also know that this place was once home to a much more advanced civilisation. Unfortunately, aside from a few trinkets and useless relics, all we have left is the Throne Chair, and if the bloodline continues to deteriorate, soon that will be taken from us as well.

King County to change logo to honor MLK

Twenty years after the King County Council renamed the county for the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the council voted today to change the county logo from a crown to a likeness of the slain civil rights leader.
Council Chairman Larry Phillips, D-Seattle, said the county's current crown logo is an inappropriate "symbol of monarchy and royalty."

OLYMPIA - Gov. Gary Locke [ RACKETEER INFLUENCED AND CORRUPT ORGANIZATIONS US Title 18 ] signed legislation yesterday that stiffens penalties for identity theft and makes it easier for victims to get the documents they need to regain control of their lives.
"This bill empowers consumers to protect themselves and re-establish their identities and credit without having to rely only on enforcement of the criminal laws," Locke said as he signed Senate Bill 5449.
State Attorney General Christine Gregoire [ RACKETEER INFLUENCED AND CORRUPT ORGANIZATIONS US Title 18 ] hailed the legislation as the toughest in the nation and a strong step toward stemming the increase in identity-theft cases.
"We're going to get tough," Gregoire said. "We're going to send a message that we're not going to tolerate identity theft, and, most importantly, we're going to help victims not be re-victimized."

THE TOWER. SHORTLY AFTERWARDS. One of the side doors opens and an elderly man comes in followed by his entourage. They are all elaborately dressed. If they were on Earth, they would probably come from the nobility of the late medieval period, although there's a touch of Renaissance and baroque in there too. The Day Clinton Had Hoped To Avoid -- 6 Hours Under Oath In Paula Jones Case

WASHINGTON - With Paula Jones looking on, President Clinton testified for most of the day yesterday about the sexual harassment allegations that have generated one of the nation's most celebrated lawsuits and produced the unseemly spectacle of a commander-in-chief as a defendant in a court case.
Clinton spent six hours in the offices of his lawyer answering questions under oath about whether he propositioned Jones in a Little Rock, Ark., hotel suite seven years ago and later punished her for rejecting his advances. It was the first time a sitting president has been interrogated as a defendant in a court case.
The session was closed to outsiders and details were scarce, thanks to a far-reaching gag order imposed by the judge. Neither Clinton nor Jones commented afterward, ignoring a media throng that converged from as far away as Japan and Germany. But sources said before the deposition began that Clinton planned to testify he does not remember meeting Jones and denies harassing her, although he was willing to concede they may have met alone at the Excelsior Hotel in 1991.
This was the day he had long dreaded, the day he had gone all the way to the Supreme Court to avoid. For Clinton, this confrontation with his past posed risks not only legal and political, but also historical, as he tries to keep the episode from tarnishing his legacy. Yet in the end, the justices ruled unanimously last year that the law applies even to the president and
forced Clinton to answer the charges from the former low-level state clerk originally from Lonoke, Ark.
Clinton, wearing a standard dark business suit, left the White House at 10:18 a.m. with Bennett and his longtime confidant and deputy counsel, Bruce Lindsey.
Jones was a $6.35-an-hour state clerk working the registration desk at a government-sponsored "quality management" conference at the Excelsior Hotel on May 8, 1991, when Clinton showed up to give a speech. She alleged that she later was approached by a Clinton bodyguard, State Trooper Danny Ferguson, who told her the governor wanted to meet her and escorted her to a hotel suite furnished as an office. She went along thinking she might be offered a job, she said, but discovered otherwise once she found herself alone in a room with him.
According to her lawsuit, Clinton made small talk, told her he liked "your curves," dropped his trousers and requested oral sex. Jones refused and left, she said, and later told friends that the governor had made a pass at her.

MORNING. CHAMBERLAIN'S OFFICE. The room is lined with shelves full of papers and scrolls. Otho is seated at a desk studying some papers when John walks up and stops in the doorway.
SHEPPARD: We need to talk.
OTHO (looking up at him): Colonel Sheppard. Yes. Come in, please.
SHEPPARD (walking into the room and looking around): It seems that, uh, certain people around here have somehow, uh, gotten the wrong idea about me.
(Otho looks at him, not understanding.)
SHEPPARD: Uh, Mara came to visit me last night.
OTHO: You must forgive her forward behaviour, Colonel. She doesn't have much time.
SHEPPARD: What's that supposed to mean?
OTHO: I have many duties here in the Tower, the most important of which is as royal genealogist. (He stands up and gestures around the room.) These scrolls record the bloodlines of the Lord Protector's family going back twenty generations. It's my duty to study them in order to determine the best possible match for every member of the Royal house so that we may maintain the integrity of those bloodlines. This is necessary because only one of the Royal blood can control the Throne Chair which in turn controls the weapon that protects us from the Wraith. But I suspect you know some of this already. Most people when they see the Throne Chair activated for the first time react as though they've seen some kind of magic, but you -- you didn't bat an eye. (John looks uncomfortable.) What's more, you have in your blood the very gene for which our Royal family has been so selectively bred all these generations. (He picks up the scanning device he used on the team the previous day.) I scanned you shortly after we met, remember?
SHEPPARD: Right!
