What this always reminds me of is what I have written here in the open before about the life I remember in Greenville South Carolina back in early 1990s.

I decided to write this note now because of my theory about the divergence point of the memories stored physically in my human brain.

At first I was thinking for a while that the divergent point was July 1989. And while that hypothetical experience was a theoretical divergence point I began to believe that the point I need to focus on in the sort of peripheral vision into the memory accessible to my mind is June 2005.

I now believe that I was fully aware before 13 June 2005.

But then when they secretly drugged me then that caused me to lose conscious awareness of certain details.

Boomer: This guy's probably died and been reborn a dozen times. You may have faced him before.

Starbuck: So what, raiders reincarnate? Just like you?

Boomer: Makes sense, doesn't it? It takes months for you to train a nugget into an effective viper pilot. And then they get killed. And their experience, their knowledge, their skill sets. They're all lost forever. So, if you could bring 'em back and put 'em in a brand new body, wouldn't you do it? 'Cause death then becomes a learning experience. How, uh-- how many pilots have we lost? I mean, have you lost?

Starbuck: You know, there are times when I look at you and I forget what you are. All I see is that kid that pooched her landings day after day. The kid that was frakkin' the chief and thinking she was getting away with it.

Boomer: Yeah, I remember. [Crying] You were like a big sister to--

Boomer reaches out to touch Starbuck on the leg. The marines promptly cock and raise their rifles to stop her.

Boomer: Kara, um-- be careful of Scar, okay? He's filled with rage.

Starbuck: About what?

Boomer: Dying's a painful and traumatic experience. Every time he's reborn, he's filled with more bitter memories. Scar hates you every bit as much as you hate him.

Phoebe Cates Kline was so fond of the Upper East Side branch of gift store Penny Whistle that when it closed, she simply had to replace it. Blue Tree (1283 Madison Ave., nr. 92nd St.; 212-369-2583) stocks similarly tasteful, hip kids’ toys (check out indoor skateboards by Modern Convenience), but Penny Whistle never had fashion—or Fred Leighton diamonds. Upstairs, there’s an impressive selection of European and lesser-known designers like Les Prairies de Paris, 1/2 Un-Demi, and Holly Krüeger.
