Broken Bow [ Star Trek: Enterprise - Episode 1 Season 1 ]

[Shuttlepod]

T'POL: Open a channel. Sub-Commander T'Pol to Enterprise.

CREWMAN [OC]: Go ahead.

T'POL: We'll be docking in four minutes. Have Doctor Phlox meet us in decon.

CREWMAN [OC]: Acknowledged. Is someone wounded?

T'POL: The Captain. I'm taking command of Enterprise.

[Archer's memory - beach]

(the radio controlled model spaceship is now in flight)

JONATHAN: I can't do it!

FATHER: Yes, you can. Take her up, straight and steady. (instead, it nose-dives into the sand)

JONATHAN: Damn.

FATHER: You can't be afraid of the wind. Learn to trust it.

[Decon chamber]

PHLOX: (from outside, watching through window as Tucker and T'Pol undress) It shouldn't take more than a few moments.

TUCKER: Is this really necessary?

PHLOX: The others scanned negative. You two, unfortunately, were exposed to a protocystian spore. I've loaded the appropriate decon gel into compartment B.

T'POL: Tell Mister Mayweather to prepare to leave orbit.

TUCKER: How's the Captain?

PHLOX: I'm treating his wound.

TUCKER: Will he be all right?

PHLOX: Eventually.

(the pair start smearing gel over themselves and each other)

TUCKER: Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't you just kind of an observer on this mission? I don't remember anyone telling me you were a member of Starfleet.

T'POL: My Vulcan rank supersedes yours.

TUCKER: Apples and oranges. This is an Earth vessel. You're in no position to take command.

T'POL: As soon as we're through here, I'll contact Ambassador Soval. He'll speak to your superiors and I'm certain they'll support my authority in this situation.

TUCKER: You must really be proud of yourself. You can put an end to this mission while the Captain's still unconscious in Sickbay. You won't even have to look him in the eye.

T'POL: Your precious cargo was stolen. three Suliban, perhaps more, were killed, and Captain Archer has been seriously wounded. It seems to me this mission has put an end to itself. Turn around.

TUCKER: Let's say you're right. Let's say we screwed up just like you always knew we would. It's still a pretty good bet that whoever blew that hole in the Captain's leg is connected somehow to the people who took Klaang.

T'POL: I fail to see your point.

TUCKER: Captain Archer deserves a chance to see this through. If you knew him, you'd realise that's what he's about. He needs to finish what he starts. His daddy was the same way.

T'POL: You obviously share your Captain's belief that my people were responsible for impeding Henry Archer's accomplishments.

TUCKER: He only wanted to see his engine fly. They never even gave him a chance to fail. Here you are, thirty years later, proving just how consistent you Vulcans can be.

[Sickbay]

PHLOX: (removing a creature from Archer's leg) Very nice, very nice. Your myofibres are fusing beautifully.

ARCHER: How long have?

PHLOX: Less than six hours. I thought it best to keep you sedated while the osmotic eel cauterized your wound.

ARCHER: Thanks.

TUCKER: How are you doing, Captain?

ARCHER: That depends. What's been going on the last six hours?

T'POL: As your highest ranking officer I assumed command while you were incapacitated.

ARCHER: Are we underway? (Tucker nods) You didn't waste much time, did you?

T'POL: Is he fit to resume command?

PHLOX: As long as he returns for more eel therapy tomorrow.

ARCHER: How long before we get back to Earth?

TUCKER: Earth, sir?

I can't decide if Nicholas is going to be relieved or angry.
Either way, I'll square it with him.
He doesn't have a pre-nup.
Are you going to that lion's den Woody was talking about? I don't know yet.
Well, be careful you don't end up like me.
Dreams cut you open.
They expose the grungy parts of your soul.
Next thing you know, you've got a pistol in your handbag.
My therapists were all wrong.
They all wanted to bring my demons out into the light.
But some poisons are better left in the ground.
[sighs] Mmm.
It did feel fabulous, though.
The dreams?

KAWALSKI
What is it, colonel?!

O'NEIL
(yelling down)
Sandstorm comin' this way.

[Kawalski lowers his rifle and releases his hold on his hostage, who collapses on the ground with a gulp of relief. Kawalski breathes heavily as he releases his own adrenalin.]

DANIEL Well, that would've been an excellent reason to shoot everyone.

Widespread Damaging Wind Storm Tuesday

In the Inland Northwest, we get several windy storms every winter. It comes with the territory of living at this latitude, as well as being a frequent "gateway" for storms to enter the US. But many of these windy storms aren't considered "extreme". A typical wind storm in our area will result in gusts somewhere in the 50-60 mph. A wind gust over 60 mph becomes much more rare.

You'll notice that the 68 mph forecast for Spokane is higher than the January 1972 storm. We don't have the skill to predict the winds to the nearest mile-per-hour. But we do think that this storm has the potential to rank as one of the strongest ever in the Inland Northwest.

Three Half Blind Mice

City going to hell around us.
Yeah, it's like the city's dreaming.
Come on.
[dramatic music] How long were you with them? Three years as a live-in.
They started me off in a camp upstate.
Then they assigned me to a squat in Brownsville, but they've got fancy places too: Manhattan, Paris, Mumbai.
So, who's in charge of the whole thing? Nobody.
It's not like there's a pope.
There's just overlapping cells.
Like Al Qaeda, you know, except without the "destroy Western Civilization" part.
What do they want? Utopia.
Peace in our time.
They're the guardians of the sacred.
You know, they're crazy.
They're hardcore.
I loved it till the Luster got me booted for being unworthy.
[sighs] Did you really meet The Boy? - Yeah.
- I mean, what was it like, man? I mean, was your body, like, all charged and stuff? Not really.
I figured if I ever met him, he'd he'd glow somehow.
Who is he? The key to everything.
The one that's gonna turn on the lights, teach us we're all dreaming the same dream.
So why were you tearing down the flyers? Because.
There are people that don't want him to turn on the lights.
They like us separated and scared, man.
That's why The Boy's got to stay secret.
So you were protecting him? Yeah.
Wouldn't you?

6 – The Watchers

SHPOLA, THE UKRAINE

The crashing sound of the 125mm tank gun was enough to strip the hair off your head, Alekseyev thought, but after five hours of running this exercise, it came through his ear protectors as a dull ringing sound. This morning the ground had been covered with grass and dotted with new saplings, but now it was a uniform wasteland of mud, marked only with the tread marks of T-80 main battle tanks and BMP armored infantry fighting vehicles. Three times the regiment had run this exercise, simulating a frontal assault of tanks and mounted infantry against an enemy of equal strength. Ninety mobile guns had supplied fire support, along with a battery of rocket launchers. Three times.

Alekseyev turned, removing his helmet and earmuffs to look at the regimental commander. "A Guards regiment, eh, Comrade Colonel? Elite soldiers of the Red Army? These tit-sucking children couldn't guard a Turkish whorehouse, much less do anything worthwhile inside of it! And what have you been doing for the past four years commanding this rolling circus, Comrade Colonel?

"It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)"

That's great, it starts with an earthquake
Birds and snakes, an aeroplane, and Lenny Bruce is not afraid

Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn
World serves its own needs, don't misserve your own needs
Feed it up a knock, speed, grunt, no, strength
The ladder starts to clatter with a fear of height, down, height
Wire in a fire, represent the seven games
And a government for hire and a combat site
Left her, wasn't coming in a hurry with the Furies breathing down your neck

Team by team, reporters baffled, trumped, tethered, cropped
Look at that low plane, fine, then
Uh-oh, overflow, population, common group
But it'll do, save yourself, serve yourself
World serves its own needs, listen to your heart bleed
Tell me with the Rapture and the reverent in the right, right
You vitriolic, patriotic, slam fight, bright light
Feeling pretty psyched

It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine

Six o'clock, TV hour, don't get caught in foreign tower
Slash and burn, return, listen to yourself churn
Lock him in uniform, book burning, bloodletting
Every motive escalate, automotive incinerate
Light a candle, light a motive, step down, step down
Watch your heel crush, crush, uh-oh
This means no fear, cavalier, renegade and steering clear
A tournament, a tournament, a tournament of lies
Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives, and I decline

It's the end of the world as we know it (I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine (It's time I had some time alone)
I feel fine (I feel fine)

It's the end of the world as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine (It's time I had some time alone)

The other night I dreamt a nice continental drift divide
Mountains sit in a line, Leonard Bernstein
Leonid Brezhnev, Lenny Bruce, and Lester Bangs
Birthday party, cheesecake, jellybean, boom
You symbiotic, patriotic, slam but neck, right? Right

It's the end of the world as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine (It's time I had some time alone)

It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine (It's time I had some time alone)

It's the end of the world as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)

Falling Water

Three Half Blind Mice

[ Closing dialog ]

If all it takes is a citywide power outage to get you to text me, I'm gonna have to arrange another one.
You want to go back for something? No.
Let's go.
[engine turns over] Your yurt's on the other side of the glade.
You're gonna love the dream seminar.
You were lucky to get a spot.
It's usually booked up way in advance.
Karma was on my side.
At the end of the day, I guess we all end up where we're supposed to.
"The open path lies in wait for the willing.
" Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau.
Three blind mice convinced the world works like a clock.
Cogs and gears.
But dreams don't have gears.
Dreams are water seeping through cracks in the dike.
And all it takes to cause a flood is a little bit of darkness.
