As always with my excursions conducted completely at random and at the whim of my conscious mind, the overall *strategy* is to distinguish between conspiracy and my theory of synchronization.
I can prove neither - I haven't the resources - but I continue to anticipate occurrences that are difficult to explain away.
The stuff I see people doing on that particular day I'm looking for occurrences is *possibly* the result of conspiracy.
*Other* people can now develop this code pattern as well as I.
So I have to keep that in mind as I observe the stuff that happens around me when I'm outside.
The only thing I can with absolute certainty prove or disprove is the thoughts in *my* conscious mind.

What I do
I am a Visiting Scientist at MIT’s Parsons Lab, which is part of the Civil and Environmental engineering department, but my main position is Director of Seasonal Forecasting at AER [Atmospheric and Environmental Research]. I am currently working on the impacts of snow cover and sea ice variability on winter climate. I am also interested in accelerated Arctic warming and its influence on extreme mid-latitude weather and applying novel statistical techniques to subseasonal to seasonal prediction. I am also interested in decadal temperature trends and explaining those trends with large scale climate models. I received my Ph.D. from Columbia University and was also a post-doc at the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies.

Major Nor'easter blankets U.S. East Coast with snow, heavy winds

NEW YORK, Jan 29 (Reuters) - The northeastern United States was walloped by a fierce winter storm on Saturday that threatened to drop more than two feet (60 cm) of snow while packing high winds, prompting governors in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and other states to declare states of emergency.
The Nor'easter blanketed a large swath of New England with heavy snowfall. With the storm ongoing, some coastal areas of New Jersey already recorded 15 inches (38 cm) of accumulation while Long Island, New York braced for another foot (30 cm) of snow.
"It's high winds, heavy snow, blizzard conditions - all the elements of a classic nor'easter," New York Governor Kathy Hochul said at a news briefing, warning of frigid temperatures overnight. "This could be life-threatening."

"No, Kevin, they won't." Carol leaned back and rubbed her eyes. She'd read the entire report the previous night, and the sad truth was that the oil companies had gotten pretty damned smart about dealing with environmental issues. It was plain business sense. The Exxon Valdez had cost them a ton of money, in addition to the bad public relations. Three pages had been devoted to the changes in tanker safety procedures. Now, ships leaving the huge oil terminal at Valdez, Alaska, were escorted by tugs all the way to the open sea. A total of twenty pollution-control vessels were on constant standby, with a further number in reserve. The navigation systems on every tanker had been upgraded to beyond what nuclear submarines carried; the navigation officers were compelled to test their skills on simulators every six months. It was all hugely expensive, but far less so than another serious spill. A series of commercials proclaimed all of these facts on television-worst of all, the high-end intellectual cable/satellite channels, History, Learning, Discovery, and A&E, for whom the oil companies were also sponsoring new shows on wildlife in the Arctic, never touched upon what the companies did, but there were plenty of pictures of caribou and other animals traversing under the elevated portions of the pipeline. They were getting their message out very skillfully indeed, even to members of the Sierra Club's board, Brightling thought.
What they didn't say, and what both she and Mayflower knew, was that once the oil was safely out of the ground, safely transported through the monster pipeline, safely conveyed over the sea by the newly double hulled supertankers, then it just became more air pollution, out the tailpipes of cars and trucks and the smokestacks of electric power stations. So it really was all a joke, and that joke included Kevin's bitching about hurting the permafrost. At most, what would be seriously damaged? Ten or twenty acres, probably, and the oil companies would make more commercials about how they cleaned that up, as though the polluting end-use of the oil was not an issue at all!
Because to the ignorant Joe Six-pack, sitting there in front of his TV, watching football games, it wasn't an issue, was it? There were a hundred or so million motor vehicles in the United States, and a larger number across the world, and they all polluted the air, and that was the real issue. How did one stop that from poisoning the planet?

Francis Gary Powers (August 17, 1929 – August 1, 1977) was an American pilot whose CIA U-2 spy plane was shot down while flying a reconnaissance mission over Soviet Union airspace, causing the 1960 U-2 incident.
Francis Gary Powers died in 1977 in an accident. He was 47 years old. He had been covering bush fires in Santa Barbara County. As he returned, his Bell Jet Ranger helicopter, registered N4TV, ran out of fuel and crashed in the Sepulveda Dam Recreation Area several miles short of Burbank Airport. At the last moment he must have noticed children playing in the area, and directed the helicopter elsewhere to prevent their deaths. His perfectly set-up autorotative descent was compromised, and he was killed. According to Powers' son, an aviation mechanic had repaired a faulty fuel gauge without telling Powers, who apparently misread it.

I have been puzzling for a while about the 1976 movie "Midway." Today I remembered some things I was saying back at Microsoft that were from that movie. The part about how they broke the Japanese code by disseminating false information and listened for the Japanese to repeat it. I can't remember who I was saying that to, Vince maybe, but most likely Lynn, if not both. I was puzzling over that movie recently because it was released around the time I am thinking I intercepted the comet and maybe there was some symbolic intent there with the movie, along with the bicentennial celebration. I was also thinking today about how Midway was on my mind a few months ago when I found a reference to that book that listed Midway and Operation Praying Mantis as the 5 most influential battles of the U.S. Navy on seapower.

The movie "Midway" released on 6/18/76, according to the wiki article and it was a few days earlier, from 6/7/76 to 6/10/76, that I believe I was on the surface of the moon Phoebe at Saturn. Essentially, my journey was about half-way over, although by that time, we were all thinking it had turned into a one-way trip.

If the ozone layer really evaporated, as it might, well, they'd start using sunblock just to walk the streets, and maybe that would protect them enough… but what of the natural species. the birds, the lizards, all the creatures on the planet who had no such option? The studies suggested that their eyes would be seared by the unblocked ultraviolet radiation, which would kill them off, and so the entire global ecosystem would rapidly come apart. "Do you think any of these people know about it-or give a damn if they do?"
"I suppose not." He sipped down some more of his white wine. "Well, we keep plugging away, don't we?"
"It's funny," she went on. "Not too long ago we fought wars, which kept the population down enough that we couldn't damage the planet all that much- but now peace is breaking out all over, and we're advancing our industrial capacity, and so, peace is destroying us a lot more efficiently than war ever did. Ironic, isn't it?"
"And modern medicine. The anopheles mosquito was pretty good at keeping the numbers down-you know that Washington was once a malarial swamp, diplomats deemed it a hazardous-duty post! So then we invented DDT. Good for controlling mosquitoes, but tough on the peregrine falcon. We never get it right. Never," Mayflower concluded.

Almost every monitor lit up.
On one screen: an abby chasing a woman up a flight of stairs.
On another: three abbies ripping a man apart in the middle of a kitchen.
- A mob of people running for their lives down the middle of Main Street, overtaken by abbies in front of the candy store.
- An abby devouring Belinda Moran in her recliner.
- Families sprinting down hallways.
- Parents trying to shield children against a horror they were incapable of stopping.
So many frames of suffering, terror, and despair.
Pilcher took a drink from a bottle of scotch - this one from 1926 - and tried to think about how to feel about this. There was precedent of course. When God's children rebelled, God laid down a righteous beating.
A soft voice, the one he'd long since learned to ignore, whispered through the gale-force madness in his head, Do you really believe you're their God?

The search for meaning was the human cornerstone of disquiet, and Pilcher had removed that impediment. For no other reason than he had chosen them, they were the most important members of their species since h. sapiens had begun to walk the savannahs of East Africa two hundred thousand years ago.
*They* had brought this reckoning to bear. They had demanded full knowledge, knowledge they were ill-equipped to stomach. And when faced with the truth from Ethan Burke, they had revolted against their creator.
Still, watching their deaths on the monitors wounded him.
He had treasured their lives. This project meant nothing without people.
But still - fuck them. Let the abbies have them all.
