This Is What I Think.

Today is Sunday, 03/27/2022
On local broadcast tv, Xfinity has been advertising the new Samsung Galaxy S22 telephone
I don't need a telephone but the technology device captures my attention
I was a very early adopter of the underlying technology
Because, as an Ethernet-network computer specialist in the 1990s, I was enthusiastic about the potential of walking around with a handheld computer connected to a local network
In 1998, when I was working for myself as computer-support, a worker in the accounting office that paid me for computer-service, told me it was a "nice toy" when I showed her one the new devices, with PCMCIA network card
What gets me about the Samsung Galaxy S22 is the 108 megapixel camera, one of several mounted in the frame.
It is listed as telephoto zoom lens up to 230mm, so that makes me think
What I don't like about these smartphone cameras is that the so-called "zoom" is only a digital gimmick
A real telephoto zoom uses optical lens to extend the capture range of the sensor, as I think of it. It is focusing light and I guess that is a sort of filtering effect, in that only certain photons are registered by the sensor
A digital "zoom" is simply exploding picture-elements (pixels) that are captured indiscriminately by the sensor
The 108 MP sensor will capture tremendous detail but it is significantly different from a real optical-zoom camera.
Those smartphone cameras (until they make something new) will always be a fixed-lens
They can never physically change the convergence of light focused on the sensor
They're calling it optical-zoom but it is really not optical and seems to be just a marketing-term.
I'm sure that Max Planck agrees with me that Android is just not a useful interface for a computer system.
Is better than Microsoft Windows 3 version, but is not better than 1995's Microsoft Windows version 4, sold as Microsoft Windows 95 and that is now the standard type of interface for Microsoft Windows
The Samsung Galaxy S22 also does not have expandable storage. The maximum for their most expensive model is 512 GB and on the Xfinity website I checked, is not even available for purchase right now because is sold-out
They market it for Night-photography and their f-1.8 lens rating should make it good for that.
I would purchase one if I had the money but I don't and don't see myself acquiring one
I have a Sony Alpha that I really like. The Sony Alpha is an interchangeable lens system, which means I can remove the lens and change to a lens better suited for the conditions I am photographing.
Nothing I've photographed in the past is really groundbreaking (the public unable to comprehend the difference between digital-artwork and digital-photography) so that new Samsung Galaxy S22 would be useful to me, because of its small size.
I have an f-1.8 lens but is not a telephoto lens.
So the S22 would possibly capture better images than my Sony Alpha
My zoom-lens is 24mm-240mm but the F-number is horrendous.
With f-3.5 at 24mm, I cannot see how it would perform nearly as well as the S22 in any condition, especially low-light. And that is what I wanted most to use that zoom-lens for, night-photography.
F-3.5mm at 24mm and that gets only worse as it is zoomed. I don't recall the maximum when at 240mm.
The higher the F-number then the lower amount of light passes onto the sensor. The ISO can be adjusted to compensate but that introduces more "noise" to the image
I typed in all the content above before I started working on the point of this blog-post:
The following content was not established in a contiguous form. The track of the content does not flow with the cognition of my mind when creating the content.
Ideas formed, content established, repeat
This section was intended to end after that colon character above here, but then another observation by me while working on more content for the section following here
Immediately after this line, a few hours ago now by the time I make this post, the idea that caused me to reference happened just moments before one of the local FM antenna broadcast stations I randomly tune to started playing that Joan Jett song that will now be included in this post for reference. That song started playing moments *after* I made the connection that immediately follows this line (my notions are often separated by 9 lines of white-space) and that reference to my 02/09/2022 post was originally intended as my first reference:

Frederick Seitz
From Wikipedia
Frederick Seitz (July 4, 1911 – March 2, 2008) was an American physicist and a pioneer of solid state physics
Early career
Seitz moved to Princeton University to study metals under Eugene Wigner, gaining his PhD in 1934. He and Wigner pioneered one of the first quantum theories of crystals, and developed concepts in solid-state physics such as the Wigner–Seitz unit cell used in the study of crystalline material in solid-state physics.

Wigner–Seitz cell
From Wikipedia
The Wigner–Seitz cell, named after Eugene Wigner and Frederick Seitz, is a primitive cell which has been constructed by applying Voronoi decomposition to a crystal lattice. It is used in the study of crystalline materials in solid-state physics.
The unique property of a crystal is that its atoms are arranged in a regular three-dimensional array called a lattice. All the properties attributed to crystalline materials stem from this highly ordered structure. Such a structure exhibits discrete translational symmetry. In order to model and study such a periodic system, one needs a mathematical "handle" to describe the symmetry and hence draw conclusions about the material properties consequent to this symmetry. The Wigner–Seitz cell is a means to achieve this.

Hey!

She's not?
I sincerely doubt it.
Hey, Clarice! Babe! Who are you waving at? Yeah, I thought so. When I saw Clarice, I knew where we was.

Another one that seems less-than-spectacular to me sitting here now hours later.
As for this observation, that I thought of and then filed away in my mind to check on when I got back home to this desk and my computer, I can make it work but this seems bordering on trivia.
It's *all* trivial, of course.
But to *me*, some of these results just *seem* right.
Sure, people say that about all sorts of stuff.
Beause *they* are morons and have pathetic lives with nothing but wishful thinking.
I've got 05/11/2018. Before that the cold, snowy day in Riverfront Park with the sundial I discovered for myself for the first time. Spaceman Coffee. The astronaut statue. That day 05/11/2018 was a very clear signal. A signal formed from *where* I can only make meaningless guesses.
Long before that all those Bad Years after the VA hospital and my constant derision at any one not taking seriously my "artificial and symbolic" memories.
People can see the world *only* through their own eyes.

DANIEL
And uh...to find a destination within any three dimensional space, you need six points to determine the exact location.
[Daniel draws a cube and places a dot in the center of each of the six "sides" of the cube and then draws lines between them all to intersect at a spot in the cube.]
WEST
You said you needed seven points.
DANIEL
Well, no, six for the destination. But to chart a course, you need a point of origin.
[He draws a point some distance from a cube and then a line to where all the cube spots intersect.]
MYERS
Except there's only six symbols in the cartouche.
DANIEL
Well, the seventh actually isn't inside the cartouche

Here we have, Duff, Duff Light, and our newest flavor, Duff Dry.
[camera pulls back to reveal that all three vats are fed by a common pipe]
-- The Duff Brewery tour guide, "Duffless"
Guide: What does the future hold for us? Heh. Let's just say we have a few ideas up our sleeve.
Homer: Like what?
Guide: Um, I'd rather not get into it right now.
Homer: Why not?
Guide: All right, we don't have any ideas for the future. We got nothing. Happy?
Homer: [whiny] No.
Meanwhile, at the Simpson household, Marge tries to comfort her daughter. Lisa bemoans her fate, crying that the science fair is in three days. Marge suggests running a hamster through a maze. Lisa imagines a hamster doing just that. The hamster's head is replaced with that of Bart, and the hybrid creature promptly gets stuck, crying, "Help me! Help meee!" Lisa laughs wickedly
Lisa: [laughs wickedly]
Marge: What's so funny?
Lisa: Oh, uh ... I was just thinking of a joke I saw on Herman's Head. [laughs nervously]

"Duffless" [The Simpsons]
Original Airdate in N.A.: 18-Feb-93
(from internet transcript)
The first test explores the subject's ability to acquire food. In a miniature room filled with dollhouse furniture, Lisa places a hamster food pellet on top of a bookcase. The hamster notices it's out of reach, and drags a couch over. Then he climbs on it and retrieves the pellet. "Remarkable," Lisa observes. Now we repeat the experiment with Bart. In this case, a cupcake is set on the top shelf of the bookcase. (An actual bookcase, silly, not the dollhouse one.) Bart, on his daily rounds, walks by.
Stupid books -- hey, a cupcake!
-- Bart passes by the bookcase, "Duffless"
Bart attempts to climb the bookcase to get it, but the plan fails. The bookcase topples over, pinning Bart. Maggie walks by and, without breaking stride, picks up the cupcake. Lisa notes with glee, "Hamster 1, Bart 0."
Cut to the next experiment, which Lisa is about to explain for us.

"I Hate Myself For Loving You"
(from internet transcript)
Midnight, gettin' uptight, where are you?
You said you'd meet me, now it's quarter to two
I know I'm hangin' but I'm still wantin' you
Hey Jack, it's a fact they're talkin' in town
I turn my back and you're messin' around
I'm not really jealous, don't like lookin' like a clown
I think of you ev'ry night and day
You took my heart then you took my pride away
I hate myself for loving you
Can't break free from the things that you do
I wanna walk but I run back to you
That's why I hate myself for loving you
Ow! Uh
Daylight, spent the night without you
But I've been dreamin' 'bout the lovin' you do
I'm over being angry 'bout the hell you put me through
Hey, man, bet you can treat me right
You just don't know what you was missin' last night
I wanna see you begging, say forget it just for spite
I think of you ev'ry night and day
You took my heart and you took my pride away
I hate myself for loving you
Can't break free from the the things that you do
I wanna walk but I run back to you
That's why I hate myself for loving you
Ow! Huh
I think of you ev'ry night and day
You took my heart and you took my pride away
I hate myself for loving you
Can't break free from the things that you do
I wanna walk but I run back to you
That's why I hate myself for loving you
