Hello Rudy,
Are you a former photographer in the U.S. Navy? I found some Navy photos that had your name on them and I was wondering if you took them.

Hi Kerry, Yes that's me. Where did you find the photos?

Hey Rudy,
I found several credited to you on this website:
http://www.dodmedia.osd.mil/

The one that caught my attention is listed below, along with the caption on the photo. Can you confirm that the cruiser in the background is actually the Jouett?. I magnified the image and I am quite certain the number on the hull is a '28' and not a '29.' There is a little shadow on the second number that indicates to me that it has the closed lower loop of an eight and a nine wouldn't have that shadow. Or more properly, it is the painted on shadow that produces the effect of raised numbers. I was on the Wainwright during the 1988 Persian Gulf deployment as an FC2 and I thought this might be a good artifact to add to the Wainwright Veteran Association.

Fireman James Seward sleeps on the forecastle of the guided missile frigate SAMUEL B. Roberts (FFG-58). Some of the crew are sleeping on the deck because of hull damage sustained when the ship struck a mine on April 14, 1988. The guided missile cruiser USS JOUETT (CG-29) is in the background.

Date Shot: 16 Apr 1988

Hi Kerry, I was out of the office the last three days. Yes, The hull number looks like a "28". I don't remember the USS JOUETT around when I was onboard the Roberts. I spent 18 hours onboard the Samuel B. Roberts photographing the damage and video taping interviews and I was trying to catch a ride on any ship in the area going back to Bahrain. I did hear the The USS Wainwright was in the area but not going my way.

That photo was taken the morning after and I was burning off the last shots in the camera before a helicopter flight out.

Thanks for the information. Rudy

The Springfield Files

Original Airdate on FOX: 12-Jan-97

But first, E.T., phone Homer -- Simpson, that is. Local man, Homer Simpson, shown here with his tongue stuck to a lamppost, has given us this videotape.

-- Those damn file photos..., "The Springfield Files"

They show a few seconds of his video, which Kent dubs as Close encounter of the blurred kind."

The alien has appeared in the same Springfield pasture the past two Friday nights. Will it appear again this Friday? The entire Channel 6 news team will be there, except for Bill, the boom mike operator, who's getting fired tomorrow.

[boom mic falls and hits Kent in the head]

Very unprofessional, Bill.

I'm feeling more comfortable, confident even, that this stuff I am remembering is true. There is still something I am missing though. I suspect that it is something I have to figure out, to remember, to recognize, on my own. It is something I will know when I see. For a while, sometime ago, I was thinking to myself something about how this wasn't over til "the bat lady sings," but I don't know what that means precisely, other than a variation of the well-known phrase. I feel the answer is somewhere in my memory, if I could just grasp it.

The Springfield Files

Original Airdate on FOX: 12-Jan-97

Nimoy joins in, and soon all of Springfield -- with Mulder, Scully and Chewbacca -- is waving together, singing "Good Morning Sunshine." They raise their arms in the air, and the picture is yet again frozen in Nemoy's book, now narrated by the [ Squeaky-Voiced Teen ].

And so concludes our tale. I'm Leonard Nimoy. Good night, and keep watching the skis. Uh, skies.
