In the context of my artificial and symbolic memory of serving in the Middle East with the U.S. Navy, I can "remember" one of the ship's officer briefing us about Ramadan. I can distinctly "remember" that he told us to be cautious during Ramadan because people would be on edge and he didn't want us to provoke any conflict.
When I worked at Microsoft Corporation in Bellevue, Washington, and Issaquah, Washington, they had a Microsoft employee named Tom Devey working on a team with me and I have often noted that he had a distinct resemblance to Ilan Ramon, who was killed on that space shuttle Columbia.
