This reminds me of something someone at Microsoft said to me in late September 2001. I was in Charlotte, North Carolina, on a business trip that Microsoft had arranged before the 9/11/2001 attacks on New York City and the Pentagon. Microsoft arranged the trip before the 9/11/2001 attacks so that I would be flying across the United States on a civilian airliner, similar to the hijacked airliners of 9/11/2001, in the days after the 9/11/2001. I read that the hijackers chose the aircraft specifically that were traveling cross-country because they would have more fuel onboard the aircraft, thus creating greater explosions.

So anyway, I had been sent by Microsoft to Charlotte, North Carolina, on a business trip that was arranged before 9/11/2001 and I was meeting employees from another company that was based on Riverside in another city in the Northeast. Of the two people from that company, one person I already knew and I always wondered over how he resembled the actor James Woods. The other person I had not met before. The James Woods-look-alike made a puzzling comment about how he did not know why she introduced herself with a variation of her name that she normally did not use. Some time later I was talking to her during the course of our work and we were talking about the hijacked airliners and she commented that I was someone she would always want around if she was flying on an airplane and I found that a puzzling comment.

United Airlines Flight 232 was a scheduled flight operated by United Airlines between Denver and Philadelphia via Chicago. On July 19, 1989, the Douglas DC-10 (Registration N1819U) suffered an uncontained failure of its number 2 engine which destroyed all three of the aircraft's hydraulic systems. With no controls working except the power levers for the two remaining engines, it broke up during an emergency landing on the runway at Sioux City, Iowa, killing 110 of its 285 passengers and one of the 11 crew members.

Owing to the skill of the crew and a DC-10 instructor pilot, 175 passengers and 10 crew members survived the crash. The disaster is famous within the aviation community as a textbook example of successful Crew Resource Management, due to the effective use of all the resources available aboard the plane for help during the emergency

Mission

The B-2 Spirit is a multi-role bomber capable of delivering both conventional and nuclear munitions. A dramatic leap forward in technology, the bomber represents a major milestone in the U.S. bomber modernization program. The B-2 brings massive firepower to bear, in a short time, anywhere on the globe through previously impenetrable defenses.

Features

Along with the B-52 and B-1B, the B-2 provides the penetrating flexibility and effectiveness inherent in manned bombers. Its low-observable, or "stealth," characteristics give it the unique ability to penetrate an enemy's most sophisticated defenses and threaten its most valued, and heavily defended, targets. Its capability to penetrate air defenses and threaten effective retaliation provides a strong, effective deterrent and combat force well into the 21st century.

Background

The first B-2 was publicly displayed on Nov. 22, 1988, when it was rolled out of its hangar at Air Force Plant 42, Palmdale, Calif. Its first flight was July 17, 1989.

Hero (1992)

Completed shooting March 20, 1992.

Began shooting October 30, 1991.

Ace reporter Gale Gayley literally falls into the story of a lifetime when she's a passenger on an airplane that crashes into a Chicago bridge. In the smoke and darkness, she's saved by a rude, foul-mouthed "hero," who promptly disappears into the night... leaving only his shoe behind. When Gale's TV station offers a million dollars to the mystery hero, a gentle Vietnam vet appears to claim the prize and he shares it with the city's homeless. But this screwball Cinderella story is complicated by the fact that the real hero is a small time crook whom nobody believes. Both men have something heroic inside, as well as something to hide. And it's up to Gale to discover the true meaning of courage.

A down on his luck thief rescues a plane load of passengars from certain death. However, someone else takes credit for the rescue, turning his world upside down.
