Malignant narcissism
Otto Kernberg described malignant narcissism as a syndrome characterized by a narcissistic personality disorder (NPD), antisocial features, paranoid traits, and ego-syntonic aggression. An absence of conscience, a psychological need for power, and a sense of importance (grandiosity)are often symptomatic of Malignant Narcissism. Pollock wrote: "The malignant narcissist is presented as pathologically grandiose, lacking in conscience and behavioral regulation with characteristic demonstrations of joyful cruelty and sadism." Kernberg claimed that malignant narcissism should be considered part of a spectrum of pathological narcissism, which he saw as ranging from the Cleckley's antisocial character (today's psychopath) at the high end of severity, to malignant narcissism, to NPD at the low end.
Kernberg wrote that malignant narcissism can be differentiated from psychopathy because of the malignant narcissists' capacity to internalize "both aggressive and idealized superego precursors, leading to the idealization of the aggressive, sadistic features of the pathological grandiose self of these patients." According to Kernberg, the psychopaths' paranoid stance against external influences makes them unwilling to internalize even the values of the "aggressor," while malignant narcissists "have the capacity to admire powerful people, and can depend on sadistic and powerful but reliable parental images." Malignant narcissists, in contrast to psychopaths, are also said to be capable of developing "some identification with other powerful idealized figures as part of a cohesive 'gang' ... which permits at least some loyalty and good object relations to be internalized."

IBM Personal Computer
The IBM Personal Computer, commonly known as the IBM PC, is the original version and progenitor of the IBM PC compatible hardware platform. It is IBM model number 5150, and was introduced on August 12, 1981. It was created by a team of engineers and designers under the direction of Don Estridge of the IBM Entry Systems Division in Boca Raton, Florida.
At the time, Don Estridge and his team considered using the IBM 801 processor and its operating system that had been developed at the Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, New York (The 801 is an early RISC microprocessor designed by John Cocke and his team at Yorktown Heights.) The 801 was at least an order of magnitude more powerful than the Intel 8088, and the operating system many years more advanced than the DOS operating system from Microsoft, that was finally selected.

The IBM Personal Computer XT, often shortened to the IBM XT or simply XT, was IBM's successor to the original IBM PC. It was released as IBM product number 5160 on March 8, 1983, and came standard with a hard drive. It was based on essentially the same architecture as the original PC, with only incremental improvements; a new 16-bit bus architecture would follow in the AT. The new machine, the Personal Computer XT, or ''extended,'' will sell for about $5,000 in its basic model, which will include 128K bytes (more than 128,000 typed characters) of internal memory, a floppy-disk drive capable of storing 360,000 characters and a fixed hard-disk drive capable of storing 10 million characters. A system with printer and color video display screen would sell for $6,700, I.B.M. officials said.

Craig R. Barrett (born August 29, 1939) is the Chairman of the Board of the Intel Corporation since May 2005.
Previously, he served as the President of Intel Corporation starting in 1997 and its Chief Executive Officer from 1998 to 2005. He successfully led the corporation through some of its worst times, including the burst of the "dot-com bubble" and a severe recession.

The Apollo program included a large number of uncrewed test missions and 11 crewed missions. The 11 crewed missions include two Earth orbiting missions, two lunar orbiting missions, a lunar swingby and six Moon landing missions.
The Apollo program was designed to land humans on the Moon and bring them safely back to Earth. Six of the missions -- Apollos 11, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17 -- achieved this goal.

I wish I could remember everything from that dream I was just having; there was a lot to it and a lot of different scenes that were interesting.
In one scene that I can only partially remember, I was in a room and it seems there were a lot of individuals in there. Two that followed me out seem to be connected to the South Vietnamese military. One of them was carrying a flag that has the color pattern I recognized on the F-5 fighter jet a while back. But those two weren't people; they were robots or holograms. I don't really know what they were. They were symbols of something and in that case, they were symbols of my experiences in the Vietnam War. Then I was walking into a room with those two symbols. I think one of those symbols actually pointed me to the correct room. I had been standing out in what I visualize as a hallway and I was waiting for someone. I think I was waiting for a meeting with Patrick Stewart. But I had been waiting in the wrong room. I walked into the room he was sitting with some other people and there was someone unexpected about the other people being there with him. I
can't visualize any of those other people. I can visualize though that he was wearing the uniform of "Captain Picard" and he flashed me a grin as I walked in and we shook hands. Then we were standing at a conference table in that room and I can't remember anything else about that part.
In another part of the dream, I was riding in the back of a metro bus. There were people on there I recognized from that past few years. I feel there is a lot to that part of the dream I cannot remember. One person indicated he heard I once had lipo-suction and I explained that I had actually had my memories suppressed. I think that detail about lipo-suction is supposed to be a clue to me to represent a conversation I had with someone about 8 years ago and so I would remember that person even though I didn't see her in the dream. There was a lot to that part I cannot remember and I wish I could remember it all. One interesting part of the dream is that I would sometimes see a reflection on the window glass of that bus of a U.S. Navy pilot wearing a helmet and equipment as though he was sitting in the cockpit of an aircraft. I looked around to see where that reflection was coming from, but I never did see that person sitting there on the bus.

I also seemed to thinking of 1975 when Phoebe and I were together just before I left for my mission to divert the comet. These details were not so much what I would describe as a dream. Rather, it all just seems to be thoughts I was having before I woke up. I don't know why I think of that distinction.
So anyway, someone was either taking photos of us together with me in that bundling bag or video or both. I suggested that Phoebe put some kind of tag on me, for some reason I explained and cannot now remember. She made a paper heart, wrote her name on it, and pinned it to my bag.
We talked about getting married when she was older. I can't remember everything she said but she wanted to also. I remember something about she wondered why I wanted to marry her when I had other women that I was associated with. I told her she was just so cute and nice and something else.

Damn I am fatigued today. I woke with a clear thought in my mind: 11-14. I guess that is a date; perhaps 11/14/86. I remember a lot of clear images from my dreams, but the meaning isn't clear. I remember some of them were of President Reagan giving speeches and being photographed with people. There was one of him with a woman and it seemed to be something to do with a medal being presented for the first time and she was receiving the medal; I guess for her husband. It wasn't until I started writing this that I consciously understood the similarity to the Prisoner Of War Medal from 1986 I have been writing about, but yet, in the dream, it wasn't that medal. And I have seen that woman before, and in the dream, I spent a lot of time searching for her on the internet to figure out who she was because she was so familiar, but I never did figure out who she was. As for that medal, there is a lot from the dream I cannot articulate. I associate that speech
Reagan was giving with a word I read. It was TERRAIN or EXPLORER. I can't remember which one it was, but it was written like that; in bold letters and then there was some text describing something. There is so much I can't articulate about that dream. The word just appeared in my mind that it was a 'quest' I was on later in the dream.

Remarks on the Observance of National Philanthropy Day
November 14th, 1986
Thank you very much. I have just read a clipping this morning from the United Press that shows how the private sector is spreading and things of this kind in philanthropy; that the First Lady of the Soviet Union has been named to the board of directors of a private, and privately financed, group in the Soviet Union. But I appreciate this opportunity to be with you today in recognition of one of America's greatest national treasures: the spirit of philanthropy that is so evident among our people.
When I was a lad growing up in the Midwest in Dixon, Illinois, we took this to he Americanism. And each and every one of us knew what kind of town we had and what kind of country we had. And it was all up to us. And although we were not as well off as many in town, my mother was always involved in projects for the less fortunate. She could always find somebody that was worse off than we were. I can still remember her doing a little baking of pies and cakes, and then finding out with quite some disappointment that they were for the sick lady down the street. [Laughter]
Just like every other kid in our town, I was a beneficiary of this spirit of community. I did a lot of talking about this out on the campaign. Part of it for me meant being a member of the YMCA Boys Band; I was the drum major. And during the recent election there'd be some high school bands at the political rallies, and I would tell some of these young people the story about what happened to me in that band. We were invited to go to a smaller town nearby on Memorial Day and to march in the parade. And we found out that we were at the head of the parade. The only thing in front of us was the parade marshal on a big white horse. And we started off down the street; and I'm with that baton, which was bigger than I was. And suddenly, he rode back down the parade line to make sure that everything was coming along all right. And I'm going down the street, leading the band and the music began to sound a little faint. [Laughter] And I sneaked a glance back. He
had caught up with the front of the parade just in time to turn the band down an intersection, and I was walking up the street all by myself. [Laughter] I cut across backyards and so forth and scrambled to get in front of the band about another block away.

My fellow Americans:
History is likely to record that 1986 was the year when the world, at long last, came to grips with the plague of terrorism. For too long, the world was paralyzed by the argument that terrorism could not be stopped until the grievances of terrorists were addressed. The complicated and heartrending issues that perplex mankind are no excuse for violent, inhumane attacks, nor do they excuse not taking aggressive action against those who deliberately slaughter innocent people.
In our world there are innumerable groups and organizations with grievances, some justified, some not. Only a tiny fraction has been ruthless enough to try to achieve their ends through vicious and cowardly acts of violence upon unarmed victims. Perversely, it is often the terrorists themselves who prevent peacefully negotiated solutions. So, perhaps the first step in solving some of these fundamental challenges in getting to the root cause of conflict is to declare that terrorism is not an acceptable alternative and will not be tolerated.
Effective antiterrorist action has also been thwarted by the claim that -- as the quip goes -- ``One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.'' That's a catchy phrase, but also misleading. Freedom fighters do not need to terrorize a population into submission. Freedom fighters target the military forces and the organized instruments of repression keeping dictatorial regimes in power. Freedom fighters struggle to liberate their citizens from oppression and to establish a form of government that reflects the will of the people. Now, this is not to say that those who are fighting for freedom are perfect or that we should ignore problems arising from passion and conflict. Nevertheless, one has to be blind, ignorant, or simply unwilling to see the truth if he or she is unable to distinguish between those I just described and terrorists. Terrorists intentionally kill or maim unarmed civilians, often women and children, often third parties who are not
in any way part of a dictatorial regime. Terrorists are always the enemies of democracy.

They don't torture you with primarily physical pain, such as beatings, etc. Physical torture is easy to resist. For a while at least. If you are good, you can resist it for a long time. Depends on how far they take it though. But the real bastards look to get in your head and really screw with you. And they have weeks and months and years to just screw with your head and screw with your head because they are lunatics and this doesn't come goddamned close to describing how bad it was.

I woke up this time thinking, partially visualizing, flying an F-14 Tomcat over the ocean somewhere. I can almost visualize another F-14 flying on my wing. Suddenly, the other F-14 exploded but I can't actually visualize that part. I think both people parachuted out of that aircraft. Apparently another missile hit my aircraft, blew off the canopy, and knocked me unconscious. Then I can almost see us traveling straight down towards the ocean surface and the RIO in the seat behind me was yelling at me to wake up. I pulled up and engaged the two aircraft that fired at us. One was hit by my Sparrow but the other Sparrow missed. I went in and finished off the other one up close. I returned to the carrier and landed safely, and then passed out from a moderate concussion with blood running out from underneath my cracked helmet.

One man who sat where you do now and graduated from the Naval Academy in 1968 is another member of our administration-Assistant Secretary of Defense James Webb, the most decorated member of his class. James' gallantry as a marine officer in Vietnam won him the Navy Cross and other decorations, including two Purple Hearts. James wrote several books about American service men and women. In his book, "A Sense of Honor," he describes the life that you have chosen. He wrote:
"Servicemen are always in motion, in the air at more than the speed of sound, underwater at depths whales could only dream of, on the surface of the water cruising at 30 miles an hour through crashing seas with another ship almost touching theirs . . . replenishing their oil supplies. Or they are on the ground, in the dirt, testing and training weapons that may someday kill others but today may deal them that same irony. The smallest margin of error separates a live man from a dead man. And in war, of course, they are the first and usually the only ones to pay. The President and the Congress may suffer bad news stories. The military man suffers the deaths of his friends, early and often." End quote.

But it's an honor for any President to commemorate the graduation of new officers from our service academies, but today is a special privilege for me. I was reminded on the way up here that we have a lot in common. You were the first class to enter the Naval Academy during my term in office, and you might say we've finished a 4-year course together. Now we're both about ready for the real stuff. [Laughter] One thing bothers me, though. I still seem to be climbing that greased monument and you only had to do it once, 3 years ago. 1 [Laughter]

Well, looking out over your faces in this inspiring and historic setting gives reason for confidence in our nation's future. These last 4 years have been spent preparing you to assume responsibility for the protection of our country and all that we stand for. You're part of a noble tradition.
America's independence and freedom, since we were but 13 Colonies huddled along the Atlantic coast, have relied on the bravery, the good sense, and leadership of her officer corps. We've leaned heavily on men of the sea, on our Navy and Marine Corps. Your careers will be no less significant to future generations of Americans than those of past naval heroes.
You will hear during your career, as I've heard during times in my life, that maintaining the military at peak readiness-keeping our forces trained and supplied with the best weapons and equipment—is too costly. Well, I say it is too costly for America not to be prepared. As Presidents since Washington have noted: The way to prevent war is to be prepared for it.
And as obvious as that is, it's not always appreciated. There's a story about John Paul Jones' chief gunners mate. It was during the gore and thunder of that most historic battle. He was loading and firing cannon and carrying the wounded to the medical officer, cutting away the tangled rigging. And apparently in the midst of that first fight, John Paul Jones went below momentarily and changed into a new uniform. And as he emerged on deck a voice rang out through the smoke and fire—it was the British captain asking, "Have you struck your colors?" I also might have dreamed again about me as the pilot of an F-14 Tomcat while flying through the sky. The perspective was from the outside of the jet though so I am not certain what that means. I could it could be of me flying alongside another F-14 Tomcat as we kicked on the afterburner and gained a lot of altitude. I can still visualize that image of seeing that F-14 Tomcat with its wings swept back as it climbed. I think we were were catching up to a tanker for refueling. I am confused though because I want to think that is my F-14 Tomcat but I don't understand why I see it from the perspective of the outside.

I had a very clear dream about being out to sea but the progress of the events seem to be somewhat out of sequence. I have been thinking about it after waking up and I feel it is important to note that certain events happened out of sequence in the dream and I cannot now remember the sequence as I dreamed, although the sequence of events that are out of order might only span a matter of hours. One reason that seemed important after I woke up is that I was thinking I had been flying an F-14 Tomcat during that event, because that notion was strong in my mind during one dream sequence of events, but then I seemed to be dreaming that I had actually been in an A-6 Intruder.

So anyway, I feel certain the dream sequence started off with me floating in the ocean and I had been in the water for at least two days and there was some concern in my mind about sharks.

Then I noticed a ship was approaching and I was waving my arms to get their attention but I think they had already spotted me and they were approaching me to extract me from the water and they were coming so close I thought they were going to run over me.
There is also something wrong with the proportions in that dream as well, in that the ship seemed a lot smaller than it should be, or something like that. I feel certain it was a Ticonderoga-class cruiser so that would mean, if that really was the class of U.S. Navy ship, that the dream occurred during the 1980's or later. I had no other sense of time and date to the dream.

I remember something about identifying the bow structure of the ship and that was how I knew it was a Ticonderoga but after waking up, I have been wondering why I cannot remember other identifying details about the Ticonderoga-class, such as that large, distinctive forward superstructure or whether it had a rail-launcher or the absence of the rail-launcher, indicating it was one of the later VLS versions.

After the ship pulled past me as I floated in the ocean, I saw a Seahawk helo lift off from the deck, seemingly from the bow, which is odd, and then it was approaching me and I was anticipating it is winch me up as it hovered over me. Another odd detail is that it actually seemed to land, although I cannot visualize it landing, impossibly, on the ocean surface, but I recall that detail because I noted that the tail rotors almost hit me.

Then I was in the ship and I seemed to be in CIC, judging by all the equipment and I was sitting in chair and I was still wearing wet clothes. I can visualize one person that was talking to me more than anyone else but I cannot visualize enough detail about him to describe.
It seems it was then in the dream that I started to dream, or to think, about the events that led to me being in the ocean. I still feel a certain amount of confusion as to whether I dreamed it all in sequence as it occurred, in that this all is probably a true experience I was dreaming about, or whether I dreamed it in the sequence as I am not writing.

As some point in the dream, and that seems to be associated to other events in this dream sequence, I was flying in the B/N seat of an A-6 Intruder and something happened, that I never did seem to know about in the dream, and I was going to have to eject, along with the pilot. At some point since waking up, I am aware that the pilot did not survive and I recall that I never did see him again in the dream. So I don't know what happened and why we had to eject but certain details seem unrealistic, even though I can still visualize sitting there in that B/N seat. One detail is that I was not wearing any kind of harness or belt and after what ever event it was that made us eject, I pulled across an automobile seatbelt and I can still visualize clipping it in.

I think that was just before I noted that I seemed to be sitting in some kind of high-back desk chair and that I pulled the lever that caused the seat back to un-recline, or whatever is the proper word, and the seat back was actually causing me to lean forward.
Then when I, or we, as I can only recally myself ejecting, and similar to scenes in "Top Gun" and "Flight of the Intruder," but with different results, I was blasted through the plexiglass canopy and it shattered as I was blasted through it. I did not seem to suffer any injuries from going through the canopy and I ponder every time over that scene in "Flight of the Intruder.
I think that was the extent of my dream. I think then the dream picks up with me floating in the ocean for at least 2 days and a USN ship rescuing me.

The Mk-26 Guided Missile Launcher is a fully automated system that stows, handles, and launches a mixed load of weapons. The system is engineered to accept any combination of STANDARD Missile 1-MR, STANDARD Missile 2-MR anti-aircraft, ASROC anti-submarine missiles as well as Harpoon anti-ship missiles. There seems to be something important about a dream I had a few hours earlier. I can't remember all the details to it now but it seems that I was actually thinking while I was sleeping about the dream I had earlier as I was sleeping. That makes me think I wanted to remember the dream when I woke up. Not sure how that works. Anyway, the operative detail about the dream seems to be that I was leaving a hospital where I had been a patient but I can't remember any details about being in there as a patient, which is puzzling me for reasons I can't articulate. So I was leaving and there were 2 people with me that I guess were taking me out of there. There was a doctor talking to me and perhaps another person with him. I found myself thinking about that doctor giving me a folder, apparently with information relevant to me, and that doctor refered to me as doctor, in terms of that also being my title.

I am not certain how long I was asleep, having now just awoken. But my most recent journal entry was about 1:30 PM so I must have slept for over 10 hours.
I must have dreamed again of standing on the surface of the Saturn moon Phoebe. I can still visualize that sight but the visualization is not very clear. Before I awoke I was thinking, or I seemed to be thinking about this while I was still asleep, that I found it curious that I understand that the visualization in the dream was crystal clear while the visualization I have now is just more of a dull impression of that visualization in the dream.
The dream visualization, I am thinking, was of watching, on my first day on the surface, the rising sun illuminating the surface of the moon and I was standing next to some kind of hill or embankment and I was studying the detail of the terrain. I might have been next to a crater but when you are at ground level, the cause of the sloping ground is not always as apparent as from when you are looking down from above the ground.
