Foreign power is assuredly in control of U.S. nuclear weapon stockpile and I am ordering them stopped.

I have reason to believe that domestic terrorists are actively planning to destroy with stolen nuclear weapons at least 1 American city.

I have further reason to believe that subversive elements of the U.S. federal government are working to provide cover for those pending acts of domestic terrorism that I believe are being actively planned.

I believe that George Bush, Richard Cheney, Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Joint Chiefs Mike Mullen, DOD General Counsel William J. Haynes II and others such as RNC chairman Robert M. Duncan, Nancy Pelosi, Rudolph W. Giuliani, Barack Obama and John Edwards of North Carolina, among others not named here, are actively providing cover for those past and pending acts of domestic terrorism.

How to Avoid Getting Shot by a Police Officer

Whether or not you have done something wrong, there is no reason to be shot by a police officer -- that is, unless you give them one. Here are some ways to avoid personal harm in situations with a police officer that has their gun drawn.

Steps

Stop. Do not move unless directed by the officer. At this point, any movement you make that is unexpected is one step closer to getting shot.

Keep your hands in clear view. If the police officer cannot see your hands, he or she will assume you are going for a weapon. This can lead to you getting shot.

Follow all directions. The officer will tell you exactly what he or she wants you to do. That typically includes putting your hands on the back of your head, walking backwards toward the sound of their voice, or lying down on the ground. Do it. At this point you've either already broken the law and don't need to make it worse on yourself, or you are the victim of a misunderstanding and need to cooperate to help prove your innocence.

Do not talk. Chances are good that there is not much you can say to help the situation. If the officer has drawn their weapon, you will almost certainly be arrested, and there is not much you can say to stop that from happening. If they've drawn their weapon, they're certain it's needed. There will be plenty of time to talk once you are in cuffs and no longer considered a threat. You may wish to consider answering questions posed by the police officer. However, you have the right to refuse to do so. It is almost always in your best interest to remain silent. Police officers are not allowed to continue questioning you if you request an attorney. (US only)

Go slowly. Sudden movements make officers nervous, and nervous officers are more likely to whip out their guns.

Don't brandish a weapon. If you have got a gun or knife in your pocket or waistband, leave it alone. Don't draw it, even to surrender it. The officer would much rather find it on his or her own than have you whip it out and wave it around. If you would prefer to surrender the weapon, clearly speak words to the effect of "I would like to turn over my weapon." before drawing it.

Let yourself be handcuffed. Yes, it may be uncomfortable, but retaliation or struggling is only going to result in serious injury. In many cities, it is police protocol to place handcuffs on even the most cooperative of suspects.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coroner

Coroner

A coroner is an official responsible for investigating deaths, particularly some of those happening under unusual circumstances, and determining the cause of death. The additional roles and qualifications of the coroner vary significantly not only by country but by jurisdiction.

Depending on the jurisdiction, the coroner may adjudge the cause himself, or act as the presiding officer of a special court (a "coroner's jury"). In some countries, coroners have additional investigatory roles. For example, in the United Kingdom under the Treasure Act 1996 a coroner will determine the most likely manner in which treasure came to be in the place where it was found (whether it was lost or hidden) which will determine the legal entitlements to the treasure trove.[citation needed]

A coroner is not necessarily a medical examiner. Medical examiners are medical doctors who have specialised in anatomical- or forensic pathology. In the UK however, all one needs is a medical degree, plus additional training in the law, thus a coroner need not necessarily be a qualified pathologist themselves. Additionally some UK coroners will not have formal medical qualifications but will instead be members of the legal profession. In countries such as the US, where the coroner is an elected, political position, a coroner need not be a medical examiner, though many are. In other areas, including certain Canadian provinces, all the roles of the coroner are assigned to the medical examiner.

Coroners in the United States are usually county-level officers, are often elected (rather than appointed) officials, and usually do not need to hold any medical qualification. As finders of fact, they retain quasi-judicial powers such as the power of subpoena, and in some states they also have the power to impanel juries of inquest, but unlike their British equivalents, they are not judicial officers, instead considered to be executive branch officials.

In some states the coroner and the sheriff are one and the same. In some counties, the coroner is the only person with the power to arrest the sheriff.

Many jurisdictions have replaced the elected coroner with a Medical Examiner (often referred to by the initials "M.E."), who must be a physician, and is most often a specialist in pathology or forensic medicine. In some jurisdictions, a medical examiner must be both a doctor and a lawyer.

The medical examiner is most often an appointed official. This has been part of a move toward professionalizing a job increasingly involved with advanced scientific techniques. In larger cities (for instance, New York City) and more populous counties, the post may be that of "chief medical examiner", heading an office with M.E.s and deputy M.E.s on staff to handle individual cases.

Other jurisdictions, such as Monterey County, California, have merged the legal competencies of a coroner into the office of the Sheriff, whose medical duties as coroner are then delegated to a professional forensic staff of medical examiners, technicians, and such.

Duties

Duties always include determining the cause, time, and manner of death. This uses the same investigatory skills of a police detective in most cases, because the answers are available from the circumstances, scene, and recent medical records. In many American jurisdictions any death not certified by the person's own physician must be referred to the medical examiner. If an individual dies outside of their state of residence, the coroner of the state in which the death took place issues the death certificate. Only a small percentage of deaths require an autopsy to determine the time, cause and manner of death.

In some states, additional functions are handled by the coroner. For example, in Louisiana, coroners are involved in determination of mental illness of living persons. In Georgia, the coroner has the same powers as a county sheriff to execute arrest warrants and serve process, and in certain situations where there is no sheriff (described in Title 15, Chapter 16, Section 8 of Georgia law), they officially act as sheriff for the county. In Kentucky, section 72.415 of the Kentucky Revised Statutes gives coroners and their deputies the full power and authority of peace officers. This includes the power of arrest and the authority to carry firearms.

Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (born Prince Philippos of Greece and Denmark, 10 June 1921) is the husband and consort of Queen Elizabeth II.

After their marriage, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh took up residence at Clarence House in London. The Duke was keen to pursue his naval career. However the knowledge that it would be eclipsed by his wife's future role as Queen was always in his mind. Nevertheless, he returned to the Navy after his honeymoon, and from 1949 was stationed in Malta after being posted as First Lieutenant of the destroyer HMS Chequers in the Mediterranean Fleet. In 1950, he was promoted to Lieutenant Commander and given command of the sloop HMS Magpie. He was promoted to Commander at the beginning of 1952

Quincy, M.E.

The Crime-Fighting Coroner

by Erik Arneson

October 3, 1976 - September 1983

Modern crime dramas show coroners and medical examiners as professionals who have a job to do, and do it. Rarely does an M.E. serve as an investigator. Coroners are not responsible to find out whodunit-- that's what we pay detectives for. Playing the role of Quincy, however, Jack Klugman thrived on being the catalyst behind investigations.

In addition to determining the cause and time of death, Quincy often pushed his boss, Chief Deputy Coroner Dr. Robert Asten, and homicide detectives Lt. Frank Monahan and Sgt. Brill, to solve cases no matter the cost-- financial or personal. Quincy's strong sense of social responsibility was nearly always evident. (The exceptions being when he had a hot date or a plane reservation-- Quincy jumped, sometimes seemingly without reason, from do-gooder to me-first on more than one occasion.)

Although Quincy may have had more influence than any other assistant M.E. in the history of modern crime-fighting, pains were taken to make the show's science as accurate as possible. Marc Scott Taylor, a former scientist in the Los Angeles Medical Examiner's office, joined the show as a full-time consultant not long after it hit the air.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quincy_M.E.

Quincy, M.E.

Quincy, M.E. (or simply Quincy) is the name of a United States television series from Universal Studios that aired from October 3, 1976, to September 5, 1983, on NBC (and can be seen in the UK on ITV3 and intermittently on the ITV Network, as well as in syndication on MeTV in Chicago, Illinois, on KDOC-TV in Orange County, California, on the Retro Television Network, and in Australia on cable channel TV1). It starred Jack Klugman as Dr. Quincy, a strong-willed Medical Examiner (forensic coroner) in Los Angeles County working to ascertain facts about suspicious deaths. In the process, he frequently comes into conflict with his boss and the police, each of whom have their own (often flawed) ideas about what's going on.

Many of the episodes follow this formula:

Somebody dies, seemingly by natural causes.

Quincy notices something that causes him to suspect foul play.

He then changes roles from medical examiner to detective.

Quincy's boss gets upset, believing that Quincy is seeing evidence that doesn't exist and that Quincy should work on routine cases. The police get their feathers ruffled as he "shoulders-in" on their territory as well.

He argues quite loudly with some bureaucratic individual impeding the case.

Quincy solves the murder.

The first half of the first season of Quincy was broadcast as 90-minute telefilms as part of the NBC Sunday Mystery Movie rotation in the fall of 1976 alongside Columbo, McCloud and McMillan (formerly McMillan and Wife). The series proved popular enough that midway through the 1976–77 season, Quincy was spun-off into its own weekly one-hour series.

Quincy's first name was never verbally mentioned during the entire Quincy, M.E. TV show run. The only clue to what it was appeared in Episode #33, "Accomplice To Murder", where his business card is seen with his name written as "Doctor R. Quincy". Jack Klugman says that the question he's most often asked by fans is, "What is Quincy's first name?". He answers, "Doctor!".

Quincy was a captain in the United States Navy Reserve.

Marcus Welby, M.D.

Marcus Welby, M.D. is a popular medical drama that aired on ABC from September 23, 1969 to July 29, 1976.

Robert Young (of Father Knows Best fame) starred as the title character, a family practitioner with a kind bedside manner. As with most medical dramas of the day, the main conflict was between Dr. Welby's unorthodox way of treating patients as opposed to the strait-laced methods of Dr. Steven Kiley (James Brolin). The catch with this particular program was that the roles were reversed in that Dr. Kiley was much younger than Dr. Welby. In the similar series Medical Center, it is the older doctor who is more orthodox and the younger who is radical.

MARCUS WELBY, M.D.

U.S. Medical Drama

Marcus Welby, M.D., which aired on ABC from late September, 1969 through mid-May 1976, was one of the most popular doctor shows in U.S. television history. During the 1970 television year, it even ranked number one among all TV series according to the Nielsen Television Index. As such, it was the first ABC program to take the top program slot for an entire season. The Nielsen data suggested Marcus Welby, M.D. was viewed regularly in about one of every four American homes that year.

Remarks at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences Commencement Ceremony

May 16th, 1987

Thank you all very much. And Secretary Weinberger, Chairman Olch, Dean Sanford, members of the graduating class, and ladies and gentlemen, I must tell you before I start how relieved I was when Dean Sanford told me that I was going to walk on after the procession. I thought that I was going to come in with the dean, and with his reputation, I'd been afraid that the good news was that we might perch on the backstage rafters and rappel in— [laughter] —and the bad news, that we'd jump from 10,000 feet. [Laughter] But it's a pleasure to be here to welcome you the graduates of this the West Point and Annapolis and Colorado Springs for physicians into your new profession as military and Public Health Service doctors.

When I hear about the can-do spirit of America's doctors in uniform, it reminds me of a story about a group of marines. I hope those of you in the other services will forgive me for telling this, but the get-it-done spirit applies to all of America's physicians in uniform. These marines had been sent to the Army airborne school for training. And came the day for the first jump, the training officer told them that the planes would come in at 1,500 feet, they would jump from the plane, hit the ground, and move south. The marines seemed a little disturbed by this, and they went into a huddle. Then one of them as a spokesman for the group went to the officer and asked couldn't the plane come in at 500 feet instead of 1,500? And the officer explained that if they took the plane in too low, it wouldn't give them time for the parachutes to open. And he said, "Oh, you mean we're wearing parachutes?" [Laughter]

A quarter century ago, Douglas MacArthur gave his farewell address to the Long Gray Line, the cadets of West Point. He stood in the vast hall of the academy, below the balcony they call the poop deck, and spoke about the soul, not just of the Army but of all the services that you now enter. "The Long Gray Line," he said, "has never failed us. Were you to do so, a million ghosts in olive drab, in brown khaki, in blue and gray would rise from their white crosses thundering those magic words: duty, honor, country."

Duty, honor, country—the motto of West Point. And like the men and women of West Point and all of our military institutions, our physicians in uniform have never failed us. They've been ready when called; ready for hardship and sacrifice, for adventure and exploration; ready to extend the hand of compassion and healing care; ready, if called, to give the last full measure of their devotion. And you now join that company. You now enter the service of your country in one of the world's most honored professions: that of physician.

Leibovitz revisits photo shoot with British queen

Oct 22, 11:42 AM (ET)

LONDON (AP) - Annie Leibovitz revisited a tense moment last year with Queen Elizabeth II as the celebrity photographer showcased a new exhibit of her work in London on Wednesday.

The British queen rebuked Leibovitz when the photographer suggested the monarch should consider removing her crown during a shoot at Buckingham Palace in 2007.

Leibovitz, famous for her portraits, said she knew something was wrong at the start of the session.

"The queen came down the hall and she looked a little perturbed. I knew something was up," Leibovitz recalled while promoting her photos of the queen and other celebrities on exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery in central London.

"All her dressers were about 20 feet (6 meters) away - no one was near her. She was coming down the hall very purposefully. As she came in she said, 'I don't have much time,'" Leibovitz said.

A British Broadcasting Corp. production team on hand captured the moment. "What do you think this is?" the queen asked, gesturing to her royal attire after Leibovitz made the suggestion about her crown.

Details about my recent sleep are very fuzzy today. Can't remember for sure when I woke up. 3 am maybe. Or maybe shortly after midnight, can't really remember as I usually can. Remember dreaming something about driving my Jeep. Then I returned to it where it was parked in a parking lot after I was traveling through some passageways, hallways in a transit facility maybe. The only part I remember clearly is where a woman, I assume was my imaginary girlfriend asked me out for drinks or something. I told her we needed to keep it really casual though because all I had to wear was sweatpants. Kind of the downside to dating a homeless person I reflect now as I write this. She told me she would wear something with holes in it. I hope that was her in my dream, although the woman in the dream seemed to be someone unfamilar though. But I have noticed that happening with other people I know. They are represented, somehow, by a different person, but I think of them
as someone specific. I feel like that is part of the manipulation. I have noticed something similar in real dreams, but I don't think it is the same here. I think they are disquising themselves in my dream for some reason. Anyway, if it really was her, she actually doesn't have to worry about dressing down if we were to go out. Of course, if I have my way, it would be a moot point because why would I want to go out with her when I am in such an ugly situation? At the minimum, I would want to be back to work so that I have regained some independence. And hey, next time you are in my dreams, dear imaginary girlfriend, how about wearing a bikini? Red would be good, or yellow maybe. That would be sweet!

Annie Leibovitz

Anna-Lou "Annie" Leibovitz (born October 2, 1949) is an American portrait photographer whose style is marked by a close collaboration between the photographer and the subject.

In 2007, Leibovitz was asked by Queen Elizabeth II to take the queen's official picture for her state visit to Virginia. This was filmed for the BBC documentary A Year with the Queen. A promotional trailer for the film showed the Queen reacting angrily to Leibovitz's suggestion ("less dressy") that she remove her crown, then a scene of the Queen walking down a corridor, telling an aide "I'm not changing anything. I've had enough dressing like this, thank you very much."

Victoria and Albert

Victoria and Albert refers to Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom and her Prince Consort, Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria_of_the_United_Kingdom

Victoria of the United Kingdom

Victoria (Alexandrina Victoria; 24 May 1819 – 22 January 1901) was the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from 20 June 1837, and the first Empress of India from 1 May 1876, until her death on 22 January 1901. Her reign as Queen lasted 63 years and seven months, longer than that of any other British monarch to date. The period centred on her reign is known as the Victorian era.

Though Victoria ascended the throne at a time when the United Kingdom was already an established constitutional monarchy in which the king or queen held few political powers, she still served as a very important symbolic figure of her time. The Victorian era represented the height of the Industrial Revolution, a period of significant social, economic, and technological progress in the United Kingdom. Victoria's reign was marked by a great expansion of the British Empire; during this period it reached its zenith, becoming the foremost global power of the time.

Victoria, who was almost entirely of German descent, was the granddaughter of George III, the niece of William IV, who was her predecessor and was a descendant of most major European royal houses. She arranged marriages for her nine children and forty two grandchildren across the continent, tying Europe together; this earned her the nickname "the grandmother of Europe." She was the last British monarch of the House of Hanover; her son King Edward VII belonged to the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. Later, in the United Kingdom, her grandson King George V changed the house name from Saxe-Coburg and Gotha to the (currently serving) House of Windsor in 1917.

Just I woke up just now, I seemed to have been dreaming of a house in Charleston, SC. I seemed to have just bought the house and I was getting it ready for Phoebe's arrival. I was talking to her on the telephone and I was eagerly anticipating her arrival. I vaguely recall from the dream of showing her the house, which was very nice and I hoped she liked it. The house was downtown Charleston and I vaguely remember a lot of detail in the dream. It seemed that I had the whole summer off and she and I would spend that summer together in the house. It seems I was stationed there in Charleston at the USN base. There was a lot more to the dream that I don't remember now.

Samuel S. Stratton

Samuel Studdiford Stratton (September 27, 1916–September 13, 1990) was a United States congressman, representing New York for almost 30 years from 1959 to 1990.

In mid-1942, Stratton joined the United States Navy Reserve. He served as ensign in the South West Pacific Area as a combat intelligence officer on the staff of General Douglas MacArthur.

After World War II, Stratton returned to Schenectady and was elected to the city council in 1949. During the Korean War, Stratton was recalled to active duty, serving as an instructor in Washington, D.C. from 1951 to 1953, and attaining the rank of Captain. Stratton again returned to Schenectady and was re-elected to the city council from 1953 to 1956. In 1956, he was elected mayor of Schenectady as a Conservative Democrat.

In 1958, Stratton was elected to the U.S. Congress. He made a name for himself in multiple elections by appealing to conservative voters and supporting defense spending in his district, which included General Electric and the Watervliet Arsenal. He was reelected to the House fourteen times before finally bowing out of public life at age 72.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Island_Bridge

Green Island Bridge

The Green Island Bridge crosses the Hudson River, connecting Green Island, New York with Troy, New York.

The original Rensselaer and Saratoga Railroad bridge was a wood-truss covered bridge built in 1832. On May 10, 1862 it caught fire from the sparks of a passing locomotive and soon fell into the river. Parts of the burning structure, floating with the current, imperiled the steamboats and the smaller craft tied up along the wharves. The devastating wind-driven fire also consumed more than 500 buildings covering 75 acres of downtown Troy. This bridge was replaced by a second wooden bridge.

In 1884 a steel railroad bridge replaced the second wooden bridge. The steel bridge was really two parallel bridges owned by the Delaware and Hudson Railroad. When rail service ended in Troy on July 27, 1963, it was converted for automobile traffic. Until then the northern span was a rail bridge, and the southern span was a toll bridge for cars, trolleys, and pedestrians. It had a lift span added in 1924-25 for river shipping. This bridge failed on March 15, 1977 due to flooding caused by 2.7 inches of heavy weekend rains, coupled with melting snows and heavy runoff. The flood-induced scour undermined the lift span pier, causing the western lift tower and roadbed span of the bridge to collapse into the Hudson River.

The current Green Island Bridge (shown in the photos) was opened four-and-a-half years later on September 12, 1981. Construction costs topped $23,000,000. The bridge is a vertical lift bridge which is raised only occasionally for river traffic. The two metal-covered frames, which straddle the roadway, house the counterweights and lift mechanisms. The lift bridge joins Troy and Center Island (once known as Starbuck Island), an island in the river. There is another bridge that connects Center Island with the village of Green Island (which is no longer an island).

JOURNAL ARCHIVE: 05/13/08 3:15 PM
I had a dream similar to this one just before I woke up earlier. I can still visualize both of them and the only real similarity was that I found myself falling off a bridge towards the water below and that part about the roll, which reminds me of the space shuttle launching.

In the dream earlier, I seemed to have started by climbing onto a bridge, which I don't recognize, that later began to disintegrate for some reason that was not apparent in the dream. There are other details before that scene that I do not now remember. Then I was falling feet first to the water and I noted how green was the water. I had a tremendous amount of time to think as I was very high above the water and I was timing my breathing so that I would take a large breath just before I hit the water, in hopes of making it back up to the surface. I was also thinking of how I was going to pull my legs up to my chest after I went below the surface in hopes of slowing my descent through the water and so that I could return faster to the surface. I was also thinking of how I would point my feet down to the water so that the impact would not break my feet and ankles. In the dream I saw myself just about to impact the water surface and I can visualize to some
extent the details about the water surface, which meant I was very close to it. I might also remember that scene because I was dreading hitting the water. The next part I remember is that I found myself on the bottom of the river and there was a lot of sediment around me and then I was trying to swim back up to the surface. I found myself thinking that the exertion of trying to swim was causing me to use more oxygen and I was not certain I was going to make it. I had no idea how far below the surface I was but I have been thinking since I woke up that I was probably more than 100 feet below the surface. I could see light above me, and it had been bright daylight when I was falling from the bridge, but the water around me was still dark as I was looking up towards the lighter section of water.

it sent shrapnel right for us.

:22:58
For the next 15 days,
the Earth's in a shooting gallery.

:23:01
Even if the asteroid itself
hits the water, it's still hitting land.

Now, if it's a Pacific Ocean impact--
which we think it will be--

it'll create a tidal wave

Japan's gone.
Australia's wiped out.

:23:27
The rest'll freeze to death

That's unbelievable.

Well, actually,
this is as real as it gets.

Memorable quotes for

Jaws (1975)

Hooper: You were on the Indianapolis?

Brody: What happened?

Quint: Japanese submarine slammed two torpedoes into our side, Chief. We was comin' back from the island of Tinian to Leyte... just delivered the bomb. The Hiroshima bomb. Eleven hundred men went into the water. Vessel went down in 12 minutes. Didn't see the first shark for about a half an hour. Tiger. 13-footer. You know how you know that when you're in the water, Chief? You tell by looking from the dorsal to the tail. What we didn't know, was our bomb mission had been so secret, no distress signal had been sent. They didn't even list us overdue for a week. Very first light, Chief, sharks come cruisin', so we formed ourselves into tight groups. You know, it was kinda like old squares in the battle like you see in the calendar named "The Battle of Waterloo" and the idea was: shark comes to the nearest man, that man he starts poundin' and hollerin' and screamin' and sometimes the shark go away... but sometimes he wouldn't go away. Sometimes that shark he
looks right into ya. Right into your eyes. And, you know, the thing about a shark... he's got lifeless eyes. Black eyes. Like a doll's eyes. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be living... until he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white and then... ah then you hear that terrible high-pitched screamin'. The ocean turns red, and despite all the poundin' and the hollerin', they all come in and they... rip you to pieces. You know by the end of that first dawn, lost a hundred men. I don't know how many sharks, maybe a thousand. I know how many men, they averaged six an hour. On Thursday morning, Chief, I bumped into a friend of mine, Herbie Robinson from Cleveland. Baseball player. Boatswain's mate. I thought he was asleep. I reached over to wake him up. Bobbed up, down in the water just like a kinda top. Upended. Well, he'd been bitten in half below the waist. Noon, the fifth day, Mr. Hooper, a Lockheed Ventura saw us. He swung in low and he saw
us... he was a young pilot, a lot younger than Mr. Hooper. Anyway, he saw us and he come in low and three hours later a big fat PBY comes down and starts to pick us up. You know that was the time I was most frightened... waitin' for my turn. I'll never put on a lifejacket again. So, eleven hundred men went in the water; 316 men come out and the sharks took the rest, June the 29th, 1945. Anyway, we delivered the bomb.

I just had another dream about flying a jet in combat. I seemed to be in an F-14 Tomcat but after waking up, I think that was actually an F-4 Phantom I was flying and it was during the Vietnam War. The details are kind of fuzzy but I seemed to hear radio transmissions from other pilots in my group and at least two of them were under fire and had been shot down. I think more had been shot down that day. Then I was on the ground and I found myself with another pilot in my group and we were hiding on the side of a small hill near a small creek. I think we had heard gunfire and we were going to investigate it for some reason. Then a couple of kids appeared at the top of the hill and one had a pistol and was shooting at us. We ran off and split up and the other pilot looked to be running to cross the bridge while I was running to go under it. I told him before we split up that someone was running towards us with an AK-47 rifle. I could visualize my hands as I
was grasping at vegatation as I was trying to get away but I was not getting away fast enough and the soldier with the AK-47 caught up to and I stood there anticipating getting shot in the chest with the rifle. The soldier looked at me though and then quickly turned around and began running in the other direction and in the dream, I was aware that the soldier was going after the other pilot, instead of me, for some reason. That is all I remember from the dream.

JOURNAL ARCHIVE: 01/17/08 4:43 AM

I had some kind of dream that was fairly clear but kind of fragmented and I am not certain when I had it during the time I was asleep. I can't remember when I fell asleep before just now getting out of bed. I think probably around 7 pm. In the dream, I seemed to be fighting in the Vietnam War and the Falklands Wars at the same time. I saw North Vietnamese soldiers but there was also a plot element about UK soldiers in a helicopter, one of whom was my uncle Prince Andrew, and I seemed to be talking to them on the radio to pick me up from my location. I didn't recognize the setting I was in. I feel that I was on land but I seemed to be inside somewhere and I can't decide if I was in a house or on a ship. There are other details I remember and I remember fighting hand-to-hand against North Vietnamese soldiers.

Dreams are the images, sounds, thoughts and feelings experienced while sleeping

Dreams and memory

Eugen Tarnow suggests that dreams are ever-present excitations of long-term memory, even during waking life. The strangeness of dreams is due to the format of long-term memory, reminiscent of Penfield & Rasmussen’s findings that electrical excitations of the cortex give rise to experiences similar to dreams. During waking life an executive function interprets long term memory consistent with reality checking. Tarnow's theory is a reworking of Freud's theory of dreams in which Freud's unconscious is replaced with the long-term memory system and Freud's “Dream Work” describes the structure of long-term memory.

Only remember a brief part of my dreams last night. It feels like there was more dreaming but I can only remember what seems like the last part. This felt like a normal dream and not one that was what I consider "suggested" or "manipulated." This recent dream was of me sitting in a room with three other guys. We were all wearing U.S. Navy uniforms and it seemed to be some kind of waiting room. I was enroute to a new assignment, a ship somewhere. One of the guys seemed to be a CPO, another was a LT. The third guy was a buddy of mine from the Wainwright, except that the uniform he was wearing was only similar to a U.S. Navy uniform but really wasn't. I walked out of the room with someone that I don't think was one of the first group. I was walking down some stairs.

My sleep pattern has changed over the past few days since I haven't experienced one of the foreign dreams. I am sleeping later. For the first time in a long time, I didn't get up to watch the 5 a.m. news, which is a bummer, but in all reality is a silly thing to feel bad about anyway.

Funny how I don't remember any dreams last night or this morning. I slept about 3 or 4 hours late in the evening and then a few hours later this morning. I don't remember anything. And then there is the way the few foreign dreams I've had lately seemed to be quieter, as if the manipulators were almost whispering or they were transmitting with a lower power setting. I do remember waking up at one point where it sounded like someone was telling Donald Pleasance that he had a taxi waiting for him downstairs to take him to the airport. Pleasance was the guy who was chasing that guy around in those Halloween movies. He also played a blind guy trying to escape from a WW2 German POW camp.

Yesterday was some kind of foreign dream that was more of an emotion than a visualization. I couldn't remember any of the details although I felt like I had been seeing details. All I remembered was feeling like it was something intense, there was some intensity to the communication, almost overwhelming like a very strong and clear signal on a radio. After I woke up, I could only characterize the message as positive.

Today the first foreign dream wasn't too clear either. It had something to do with me, someother characters, and something about the stars. We were under the stars, or we were talking to the stars. I can visualize the sky with the stars but they may have also been a metaphor for people. Then I left somewhere and there was something about a goose, not sure what that meant, maybe something to do with staying meant something about a cooked goose.

The second foreign dream had a lot of detail. I was sitting on a bus with someone that I knew but I don't know who it was. It may have been Britney Spears but that makes no sense. I was sitting next to her and she was someone that I had lived with before, someone I had a relationship with, like a girlfriend. I was getting off the bus to a place I was staying that I don't recognize from anyplace I've been in real life. She asked me if I was really staying there, she may have commented that it was amazing I was staying there, or someone else said that. Apparently, it was the same place she and I had lived during our relationship. It was some kind of little travel trailer. A young woman was letting me stay there. I was taking up a little open seat or bench in a hallway of the trailer. I had a little storage bin to put my stuff in.

[They each have a pair of mikes as part of the "Snoopy cap" or, more formally, the "Communications Carrier". "Snoopy" is Charlie Brown's beagle in the comic strip "Peanuts" drawn by Charles Schulz. Journal Contributor Ulli Lotzmann had discussions with Ernie Reyes in mid-2000 about Snoopy's association with Apollo. Reyes was Chief of the Pre-Flight Operations Branch at the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston during Apollo; and Lotzmann reports that Reyes, Wayne Stallard and others drew little cartoons on the daily schedules to make them more interesting. The Reyes Snoopy, who looks a little bit different to the Schultz-Snoopy as can be seen from examples in the Apollo 12 cuff checklists, became popular with the Astronaut Corps. Because the cartoons were never intended for commercial publication, Reyes never asked Schultz for permission to use the character. After the Apollo 1 fire, Snoopy became the symbol of the revitalized NASA safety program.]

[Getting back to the subject of the "Snoopy cap", in the Schulz comic strip, Snoopy often fantasized that he was a World War I flying ace and, while in that fantasy, wore a leather flying helmet. This and the fact that the Apollo Snoopy caps were dark-brown & white may explain why they were named "Snoopy" caps. Post-EVA photo A11-37-5528 is an excellent picture of a very pleased Neil Armstrong in full Snoopy regalia after the EVA. Journal Contributor Markus Mehring notes that the names "Snoopy" and "Charlie Brown" where also used for the Apollo 10 Command Module and Lunar Module, respectively. The Apollo 17 crew named a large crater in Snoopy's honor.]

[Note that, in the following, they get Buzz into his helmet first, as per checklist.]

[Just before Neil's next transmission, as a result of Buzz's changes to the 16-mm camera settings and Neil's position on the footpad, the film record shows the LEC attached to the front of Neil's suit. We can see reflections in the LMP's window of what appear to be parts of Buzz's suit as he changes the camera settings and monitors Neil's activities. Ken Glover has grabbed a frame from the 16-mm film.]

109:24:13 Armstrong: I'm going to step off the LM now. (Long Pause)

[Neil has his right hand on the ladder and will step down with his left foot, leaving his right foot on the footpad. As he reaches down with his foot, the 16-mm film indicates that there isn't much slack in the LEC. (See a full discussion linked here. ) In the TV record, the LEC is just barely visible against the black sky.]

109:24:48 Armstrong: That's one small step for (a) man; one giant leap for mankind.

I had a dream the other night where I heard someone that I could not see make a comment that I would make a good CAG.

I was on an aircraft carrier and I did not recognize any of the surrounding, as I pondered over the dream after waking up.

I do remember something about the USS Carl Vinson CVN-70, as I remember seeing those words on a cap someone was wearing, but something was wrong about that. The hull number might have been wrong on the cap or something else was wrong about those details in the dream.

In the dream, I told the Captain of the aircraft carrier that I had two A-6 Intruders holding near a ship that had navigated close to us and the Captain told me to bring them back. I can still almost hear the engine noises of those jets and I am not certain if maybe it is a noise I heard while in one of those jets during an experience relevant to the details in that dream.

I am not certain when I had that dream. A few days ago I guess. There were other details that I pondered over after waking up but that I do not remember now.

At the point in the dream after the Captain told me to recall the Intruders was when I heard the comment, as though from some external source to my sleeping mind, that I would make a good CAG.

Space Shuttle

Catching a Ride to Destiny

The sight of the Astrovan's shiny silver exterior and bold NASA emblem evokes pride and excitement in those who watch it wind its way toward the launch pad at NASA's Kennedy Space Center. Before each space shuttle launch, astronauts smile and wave as they board the van that will carry them to meet their fully fueled ride to space.

Since 1984, each shuttle crew has travelled those nine miles, from their crew quarters to the launch pad, aboard the same vehicle. A modified Airstream motor home, the "Astrovan" as it is called has only racked up 24,000 miles in its 24 years of service. That's because it's used solely to transport the astronauts on three occasions: to the launch pad for launch dress rehearsal, on launch day and after landing.

The earlier shuttle flights had fewer crew members, so they used the Apollo-era astronaut transport van that now can be seen by tourists at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex's Apollo/Saturn V Center.

Point Me at the Sky

“Point Me at the Sky”

Single by Pink Floyd

B-side "Careful with That Axe, Eugene"

Released 17 December 1968

"Point Me at the Sky" is the fifth U.K. single by the British band Pink Floyd, released on December 17, 1968. The single was not released in the U.S.

The song was an early composition by Roger Waters and David Gilmour. The lyrics described a character, Henry McLean, who invites his girlfriend Jean for a ride in his newly built flying machine. The two attempt to escape an imaginary future world (dated 2005) where overcrowding and lack of food are the norm. Because the recording quality on most pressings was marginal, it was difficult for fans to get an accurate interpretation of the science-fiction like lyrics. Musically, the song is a heavy piece of psychedelia, similar to "The Nile Song", which was also the group's next European single.

PINK FLOYD LYRICS

"Point Me At The Sky"

Hey, Eugene, [ Hey you, Jean ]
This is Henry McClean
And I've finished my beautiful flying machine
And I'm ringing to say
That I'm leaving and maybe
You'd like to fly with me
And hide with me, baby

Isn't it strange
How little we change
Isn't it sad we're insane
Playing the games that we know and in tears
The games we've been playing for thousands and thousands and ....

Pointing to the cosmic glider
"Pull this plastic glider higher
Light the fuse and stand right back"
He cried "This is my last good-bye."

Point me at the sky and tell it fly
Point me at the sky and tell it fly
Point me at the sky and tell it fly

And if you survive till two thousand and five
I hope you're exceedingly thin
For if you are stout you will have to breathe out
While the people around you breathe in

People pressing on might say
It's something that I hate to say
I'm slipping down to eat the ground
A little refuge on my brain

Point me at the sky and tell it fly
Point me at the sky and tell it fly
Point me at the sky and tell it fly

And all we've got to say to you is good-bye
It's time to go, better run and get your bags, it's good-bye
Nobody cry, it's good-bye
Crash, crash, crash, crash, good-bye...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stolen_Valor_Act_of_2005

Stolen Valor Act of 2005

The Stolen Valor Act of 2005 (the Act), signed into law by [ U.S. national traitor George W. Bush ] on December 20, 2006, is a U.S. law that broadens the provisions of previous U.S. law addressing the unauthorized wearing, manufacture or selling of military decorations and medals. It is a federal offense which carries a punishment of prison time and/or a fine; the scope previously covered only the Medal of Honor.

The Act was first introduced into the United States Congress's House of Representatives on July 19, 2005 by Representative John Salazar, a Democrat from Colorado, as H.R. 3352. It was introduced into the Senate by Senator Kent Conrad, a Democrat from North Dakota, on November 10, 2005 as S. 1998. The Senate version was passed unanimously on September 7, 2006. The Senate version then went to the same House Judiciary Committee that held the House version. The Act briefly stalled, but the House subsequently passed the Senate version, S. 1998, on December 6, 2006.

The purpose of the Act is to strengthen the provisions of 18 U.S.C. § 704 by broadening its scope and strengthening penalties. Specific new provisions in the Act include: granting more authority to Federal law enforcement officers, extending scope beyond the Medal of Honor, broadening the law to cover false claims whereas previously an overt act had to be committed, covering mailing and shipping of medals, and protecting the reputation and meaning of military heroism medals.

The need for the Act came about because of large numbers of fake military heroes in the United States. For example, as of June 2, 2006 there were only 120 living Medal of Honor recipients, but there were far more known imposters. There are also large numbers of fake Navy SEALS and Army Special Forces, among others.

"All Good Things..." is the final episode of the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation.

The present-day Picard (of 2370) then appears in the trial chamber where Q accused him and by extension humanity of being a savage race six years earlier and relates that Picard destroys humanity. Q has allowed Picard to travel through time to figure out how he does this. Relating his experience to his senior staff (of 2370), he proceeds to the Devaron system knowing that the anomaly now forming there is something he caused. In his future, when the Pasteur arrives at the Devaron system, they find nothing. But on the Enterprise of 2364, the anomaly is larger than it is in Picard's present.

There’s a new “Star Trek” battle brewing and it isn’t happening on the set of the J.J. Abrams take on the sci-fi franchise. No, this war of words is a cyberspace showdown between William Shatner, otherwise known as Captain Kirk from the original television series, and George “Sulu” Takei.

It all started when Takei, who married his partner of 21 years, Brad Altman, in September, invited every member of the Enterprise’s core crew to his nuptials, with the notable exception of the ship’s captain.

At least that’s Shatner’s take on it. It’s a snub that the “Boston Legal” star took personally and attributes to Takei’s alleged long-held animosity toward him.

“Well, the whole thing makes me feel badly,” he explained in a video posted to The Shatner Project. “The poor man. There’s such sickness there. It’s so patently obvious there’s a psychosis there. I don’t know what his original thing about me was. … Apparently I didn’t let somebody have a close-up.”

In the video Shatner brings up the fact that Takei waited until recent years to reveal that he’s gay (“Talk about festering and not living the truth of your life and feeling badly about yourself.”) and wonders why his former co-star hasn’t also come out publicly to make peace with him.

“There must be something else inside George that is festering and makes him so unhappy that he takes it out on me,” he said. “It’s sad. I feel nothing but pity for him.”

As for Takei, he now claims he did invite Shatner to his big day.

“It is unfortunate that Bill was unable to join us for our wedding as he indeed was invited to attend,” Takei told the Associated Press. “It is our hope that at this point he joins us in voting no on Proposition 8, which seeks to eliminate the fundamental right for same-sex couples to marry in California.”

Space Shuttle Enterprise

On September 17, 1976, Enterprise was rolled out of Rockwell's plant at Palmdale, California. In recognition of its fictional namesake, Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, and most of the cast of the original series of Star Trek (minus William Shatner, Majel Barrett, and Grace Lee Whitney), were on hand at the dedication ceremony, and the show's theme music was played. Recognition has been two-way; in several productions, including Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Star Trek: First Contact, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Star Trek: Enterprise, Paramount has had pictures or models of former ships named Enterprise aboard ship, to include the space shuttle. In addition, during the opening montage of all but two episodes of Star Trek: Enterprise, the Space Shuttle Enterprise can be briefly seen rolling out of its hangar.

They didn't even list us overdue for a week.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protection_racket

Protection racket

A protection racket is an extortion scheme whereby a powerful entity or individual coerces other less powerful entities or individuals to pay protection money which allegedly serves to purchase "protection" services against various external threats.

Those who do not buy into the protection plan are often targeted by criminals existing inside or outside of the organization. These crimes are typically thought to originate from the organization itself. When a business refuses to pay for protection, word is put out that they are outside of the local organization's protection (these organizations often exist in the absence of a trusted police force) and that the business in question is therefore free game for freelance criminals or the organization itself.

The protection money is typically collected by a "bag man". Although the organization might be particularly coercive in obtaining protection money, it is usually careful to shelter its "mark" from attacks by competitor organizations that similarly attempt to solicit or threaten the targeted individuals or businesses. Disputes between organizations concerning territory consequently arise from two competing predators attempting to extort from the same "clients."

:06:39
Ten days ago, the C.I.A. Broke up
an arms sale to terrorists...

:06:43
in Hamburg, Germany.

:06:45
Ordinarily, that sort of news
doesn't cross the president's desk.

:06:47
What made this different...

:06:49
was that the purchase
was made with gold bullion...

:06:51
and the bullion
was dated 1863...

:06:54
and stamped
"Confederate States of America".

:06:57
We had it carbon-tested
and authenticated. It's real.

:06:59
Now, just think
about what I'm saying.

:07:02
Going back in time
is a pretty easy way to make money.

:07:05
Our committee would have exclusive
jurisdiction over this program?

:07:09
Yours and yours alone. No one can know
about this. It's too dangerous.

:07:13
That's very good, George.

:07:16
Personally...

:07:18
I think this sounds like that
bullshit Star Wars program.

:07:22
You'll get your money. Anyone here want
to chair the oversight on this program?

:07:27
Yeah, I'll do it.

:07:28
Ah, young Senator McComb.

:07:32
Why not?
Oh, you'll like him, George.

:07:34
Very much like you,
except his dorsal fin's a bit bigger.

JOURNAL ARCHIVE: Re: Sleep journal 5/4/06

After my short nap yesterday late evening, when back to sleep after midnight and slept pretty soundly until after 7. Had a dream that seemed to occur just before I woke up. I was inside some kind of missile. Seems like it was an SM2-ER on the Wainwright's launcher and it was going to send me into orbit or outer space maybe. When I woke up, I heard lyrics from that song:

Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
