All Americans are also deeply moved by the pain and suffering endured by the families and friends of those who remain missing or unaccounted for. We share both their burden and their commitment to secure the release of any U.S. personnel who may still be held against their will, to recover the missing, to resolve the accounting, and to relieve the suffering of our missing servicemen. Until the P.O.W./M.I.A. issue has been resolved, it will continue to be a matter of the highest national priority. As a symbol of this national commitment, the P.O.W./M.I.A. Flag will fly over the White House, the Departments of State and Defense, the Veterans' Administration, and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on September 19, 1986. It will also fly over the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
In order to recognize the special debt all Americans owe to the men and women who gave up their freedom in the service of our country and to reaffirm our commitment to their families, the Congress, by Senate Joint Resolution 220, has designated September 19, 1986, as "National P.O.W./M.I.A. Green Island Bridge
The Green Island Bridge crosses the Hudson River, connecting Green Island, New York with Troy, New York.
The original Rensselaer and Saratoga Railroad bridge was a wood-truss covered bridge built in 1832. On May 10, 1862 it caught fire from the sparks of a passing locomotive and soon fell into the river. Parts of the burning structure, floating with the current, imperiled the steamboats and the smaller craft tied up along the wharves. The devastating wind-driven fire also consumed more than 500 buildings covering 75 acres of downtown Troy. This bridge was replaced by a second wooden bridge.
In 1884 a steel railroad bridge replaced the second wooden bridge. The steel bridge was really two parallel bridges owned by the Delaware and Hudson Railroad. When rail service ended in Troy on July 27, 1963, it was converted for automobile traffic. Until then the northern span was a rail bridge, and the southern span was a toll bridge for cars, trolleys, and pedestrians. It had a lift span added in 1924-25 for river shipping. This bridge failed on March 15, 1977 due to flooding caused by 2.7 inches of heavy weekend rains, coupled with melting snows and heavy runoff. The flood-induced scour undermined the lift span pier, causing the western lift tower and roadbed span of the bridge to collapse into the Hudson River.
The current Green Island Bridge (shown in the photos) was opened four-and-a-half years later on September 12, 1981. Construction costs topped $23,000,000. The bridge is a vertical lift bridge which is raised only occasionally for river traffic. The two metal-covered frames, which straddle the roadway, house the counterweights and lift mechanisms. The lift bridge joins Troy and Center Island (once known as Starbuck Island), an island in the river. There is another bridge that connects Center Island with the village of Green Island (which is no longer an island).

Captain Apollo
Captain Apollo is the name of a fictitious character in the original Battlestar Galactica television series. He was played by Richard Hatch, who would also later appear as the character of Tom Zarek in the reimagined Battlestar Galactica series in 2005.
Apollo was a Viper spacefighter pilot of the Battlestar Galactica, and the son of Commander Adama. (A diary entry from Adama in one of the novelizations based on the original television series says that he was named for one of Adama's squadron mates from his time aboard the battlestar Cerberus.) His sister is Lieutenant Athena, and his mother was Ila.
Apollo's history has been marred by tragedy. The loss of the Twelve Colonies deprived him of not only his home, but many of his personal relationships. His brother Zac was shot down by a Cylon ambush. Zac's viper was damaged, and Apollo left him behind in order to warn the Galactica of the ambush. His mother Ila was killed in the subsequent Cylon sneak attack. Later on, Apollo married Serina, a reporter-turned-shuttle-pilot who became a reserve Viper pilot. Shortly after their wedding, she was killed by Cylons on Kobol. Apollo then adopted Serina's son, Boxey and became a single father to him.
In the final episode of the series, Apollo becomes romantically involved with Lieutenant Sheba. His best friend is Lieutenant Starbuck.
Apollo is arguably the central character of Battlestar Galactica, as most of the storylines and character relationships revolve around him.
Apollo always flies with Starbuck as his wingman. The exception is in the episode Lost Planet of the Gods, where he flies with Serina in her second and last mission as a Viper pilot. Starbuck and Apollo frequently fly with Lieutenant Boomer as a third wingman.

Starbucks, the king of coffee beans, sold its first shares of stock to the public today, and lines were as long as the queues at its 140 locations in seven metropolitan areas.
Starbucks' 2.1 million shares were priced to start trading at $17 a share, but the stock opened $4 higher at $21, and closed at $21.50. At that price, it made Chairman Howard Schultz's 1.1 million shares worth $23.5 million.

Howard Schultz, former Sonics owner, sat side-by-side with Clayton Bennett, Sonics owner as of this morning, at a news conference to announce the sale of the Sonics and Storm this afternoon.

Starbucks, the king of coffee beans, sold its first shares of stock to the public today, and lines were as long as the queues at its 140 locations in seven metropolitan areas.
Starbucks' 2.1 million shares were priced to start trading at $17 a share, but the stock opened $4 higher at $21, and closed at $21.50. At that price, it made Chairman Howard Schultz's 1.1 million shares worth $23.5 million.

The end of an era for naval legend
Sir Galahad was the first ship to sail into Umm Qasr during the Iraq war
Her name will always be associated with one of the darkest days in recent British military and naval history.
It was on the 8 June, 1982, that Sir Galahad and her sister ship RFA Sir Tristram came under attack in Bluff Cove at the height of the British operation to recover the islands from their Argentine invaders.
The captain of Sir Galahad, Phil Roberts, later gave his account of the day.
"It all happened very suddenly. The planes came out of nowhere and they bombed us and the ship was set on fire very rapidly," Capt Roberts said.
"We had to abandon ship fairly quickly. The scene was horrific."

Some time after I wrote about that dream this morning, I started thinking that what I was really dreaming about was when the troop carrier Sir Galahad was bombed. I started thinking later that I was standing on deck and watched two bombs drop from an Argentine jet and explode near me just before I dived behind a bulkhead or something. There is more to this than I can figure out how to articulate. I just can't put it into words because...I don't know. I guess that after the bombs exploded, I might have been knocked unconscious and by the time I came around, a lot of people had already jumped over board and then I jumped over board. The ship must have been near the shore so it didn't take me long to swim in. I wonder if there isn't something mixed into that dream with the events on the Sheffield and then the Roberts. The three submarines make me think about the Roberts. But, just as I was writing that, I thought, or was it 3rd Marines? Does such a unit
even exist? But maybe that is why the submarines - it was actually the Marines, or whatever the British call them, I am not certain.

There was dream, seemed like a regular dream, whatever that means, that seems to correlate to what I have written about being on the Sir Galahad when it was bombed in June 1982. The setting and details were different though. In the dream though, which is fading in my mind to the point I find myself wishing I could remember all the details, I stood there and watched a bomber drop two bombs that exploded very close to me. I seemed to be standing on the fantail of a Perry-class or a Burke-class ship, but I also want to say I was standing on the deck of a submarine, but as I visualize details of my surroundings, I can't see how that could have been a submarine I was standing on. In another part, an officer, which I can't visualize very well, who I think was the XO, ran back to examine the damage and most of the damage was below the waterline. I can visualize standing back there as the ship was approaching a pier. In some other scene, I was changing from
dungarees but I'm not sure what I was changing into. I almost wrote, as I had pondered over that scene, that I was putting on officer khaki's, but I'm not sure if that is right because I seemed to be going home, so I might have been changing into civilian clothes, or maybe I was changing into the attire I would wear as a SEAL. I am also thinking that I might have actually worn USN enlisted uniforms as part of an undercover assignment, but I was always a commissioned officer.

All of this stuff is true. It must be true. I am finding myself thinking again about a dream I wrote about. Something about me scaling the side of some very tall concrete structure. I imagine standing there on a beach looking up at it not unlike the opening sequence of “Saving Private Ryan.” Maybe it was a dam. I had to scale up the side and eliminate the guards so we could take control of it and they were throwing hand grenades at me as I was climbing up.
