Paused now about the 00:04:40 point of the DVD, where I know from reading earlier the transcript that the helicopter I see on the screen is going to come under fire from the “Atlantis” weapon THING, I know for certain I have never watched before the severe racketeering production the 2004 television series “Stargate: Atlantis.”

This morning I am now for the first time watching the DVD for the premiere episode of the television series “Stargate: Atlantis.” The images I have seen before, as I write this before beginning to watch the episode, suggest I was aware of the television series at some point when it was actively advertised in mainstream media and that I was not interested in watching that television series because it looked too stupid.

Subject: RE: Let's see if you can do I-90.

So that's what it was. That's what I dreamed of very early this morning or last night.

I had been aware for a long time of the "Stargate: Atlantis" television series but I had never, until this past hour, given some serious thought about the plot elements that form the drama of that television series. I have never before watched any episode from that television series. I have seen glimpses of scenes but the notion of "Wraith" is new to me today.

I started to wonder about how that 16 July 2004 premiere happens after 03 March 2003.

And then looking at those creepy figures in the images, the "Wraith" I had to look at it a few minutes, after having read a lot about them a few minutes, that is what I must have seen in my dream the last time I was sleeping today.

I am wondering about it because of how prescient are my other dreams lately.

Maybe I am winning against them by telling you this.

8 HOURS EARLIER. John sighs as he walks into Sam's office.

SHEPPARD: Well, what's the word?

CARTER: Well, the random test results came back. Six different people working in six different areas of the city – all positive.

SHEPPARD: Well, that doesn't sound very promising.

CARTER: Well, it's either a statistical miracle or the entire base has been exposed. We're running more tests to confirm it but it doesn't look good.

SHEPPARD: I don't know about you, but I feel fine.

CARTER: Well, me too, and that's the problem. If there is a delay before the first symptoms appear, it could have spread anywhere before we even knew what was happening. I've informed Stargate Command that we're suspending Gate operations.

KELLER (over radio): Colonel Carter, this is Doctor Keller.

CARTER: Go ahead.

KELLER: I'm sending you scans on Katie Brown as well as three other patients who are beginning to show signs of amnesia. All of them show large concentrations of affected cells in the medial temporal lobe. Looks like the bacteria's causing these cells to produce a hormone that interferes with the brain's ability to access episodic memory.

SHEPPARD: How bad are we talking?

KELLER: Well, the rate of deterioration seems to vary from patient to patient but in all cases it looks like it's progressive, meaning the longer they go without treatment, the worse it gets. Pretty soon they won't be able to remember their own names.

CARTER: You said the first symptoms were headaches and dizziness.

KELLER: Yeah, that's right.

CARTER: How long after they appeared before the first signs of memory loss?

KELLER: Again, it seems to vary, but you're looking at an average of about six hours.

SHEPPARD: What about you, Doc? Showing any signs?

(Jennifer sighs.)

KELLER: Yeah.

THE PRESENT. BRIG. Teyla is wandering around the cell but turns as the door to the Brig opens and Lorne comes in, covered in sweat.

LORNE: You're awake.

TEYLA: Major Lorne, you must let me free ...

LORNE: Save it. You're not going anywhere 'til I get some answers. I need to know what you've done to my people.

TEYLA: What I've done?! You believe I'm behind this?

LORNE: Is it a drug? Some kind of bio-weapon?

TEYLA: Major, they're sick. You as well. (Lorne grins disbelievingly.) The entire base is infected with a disease.

(Lorne takes his bottle of tablets out of his vest pocket.)

LORNE: Everyone except you.

TEYLA: Yes. I'm immune to its effects.

LORNE (taking some tablets): Isn't that convenient?

TEYLA: How many of those have you taken?

LORNE: Why don't you just let me worry about that, OK?

TEYLA: It's the pills. They're what's making you act like this. They're confusing you. They're making you unstable.

LORNE: Making me unstable?! I'm not the one who unleashed a disease on my people, OK? Quit stalling. I wanna know what you were doing in the hallway ...

[Shot of people at the beach sorting through luggage. Claire and redshirts sorting through some papers. Scene changes to Jack and the Marshal.]

MARSHAL: Don't trust her. She's dangerous.

JACK: You should try not to move, man.

MARSHAL: Have to find her. Have to bring her back.

JACK: Yeah, you keep saying that. And every time I ask you who you have to bring back you pass out on me again. Since your fever's running pretty high, I'm guessing you have no idea who you're talking about.

MARSHAL: My cuffs, my handcuffs. Where are my cuffs?

JACK: What?

MARSHAL: My jacket pocket.

JACK: I don't...

MARSHAL: Jacket pocket.

JACK: Okay.

[Jack gets a piece of paper out of the Marshal's jacket pocket and unfolds it.]

MARSHAL: Dangerous. She's dangerous.

ATLANTIS. NIGHT TIME. Rodney McKay is in his lab, sitting at his desk and gazing vacantly up through the glass roof at the two moons in the sky. He lowers his gaze and looks around the lab blankly, his face covered in sweat. He tries to stand but then looks down in surprise as he finds that his left hand is handcuffed to his desk with a plastic tether. His sleeve is partially pulled up and there is writing on his left forearm. He tries to tug his arm free but can't. He looks around the lab, then calls out.

McKAY: Hey! Hey, is anyone there? Look, I need some help in here!

(Nobody replies. He looks at the desk and sees a computer tablet in front of him. Its screensaver is rotating on the screen, and a sticky note has been attached to the side of the tablet saying, "PRESS HERE." Below the writing is an arrow pointing down to one of the buttons on the side of the tablet. Bewildered, he pushes the button and a recording of himself, taken with a digital camera, appears on the screen. His image, covered in sweat, looks into the camera anxiously.)

McKAY's IMAGE: All right. Look, I know you're probably panicking right now, but there is no time for that. You need to focus. I'm sure you're wondering who tied you to the desk. Look, the truth is, it was you ... I mean, me. I did it 'cause I needed you to get this message. It would take too long to give you the full explanation and you wouldn't remember it anyway, so you're just gonna have to trust me on this. Now, you'll find a knife taped to the underside of your chair. Find it and cut yourself loose.

(Rodney reaches under his chair and finds the small knife. Pulling it free, he cuts through the tether on his wrist.)

McKAY's IMAGE: Now, I need you to listen. It is vitally important that you find this woman.

(On the screen, Rodney swings the camera across to show the computer tablet. On it is a still photograph of Teyla Emmagan. Printed across her photo are the words, "THIS IS TEYLA. FIND HER."

THE PRESENT. Rodney regains consciousness lying on a camp bed in the Mess Hall. Groaning, he sits up. There are many other people in the room. All of them are covered in sweat. There are many beds of varying kinds in the room. Some people are lying in the beds but others are standing or sitting around, all of them looking confused. A man standing nearby looks down at him.

MAN: Are you all right?

McKAY: Yeah. (He looks around.) Where am I?

(Jennifer is sitting nearby.)

KELLER: We were hoping you could tell us.

McKAY: Who are all you people?

SCIENTIST: We don't know.

KELLER: None of us can remember anything.

MAN: What's happening out there? What did you see?

McKAY (standing up): Nothing. Just empty hallways. How did I get here?

KELLER: The soldiers brought you.

McKAY: Why?

It's looks as though I have the choice of which side-effect to endure from the drugs I am being forced to take. If I take the medication to counter the side-effects from the anti-psychotic, I only sleep most of the day and I feel very groggy when I am awake. If I don't take the medication to counter the side-effects of the anti-psychotic, I don't feel as groggy, but my muscles, starting today with my legs, start to get a disturbing tightening feeling. I think I'll start taking the side-effect medication again and deal with the sleepiness side-effects. I am certainly glad to have the freedom to make choices as I am being tormented by anonymous cowards.

MAINLAND. EVENING. Ronon, carrying two large sacks full of plants, runs towards the Jumper but stops short and sighs as he sees that the rear door is open. Grunting in frustration, he runs inside and sighs again as he sees that John has gone. Looking down, he sees that a small box containing cartridges is open. Dropping the sacks, he draws his blaster, charges it and walks back out, looking around carefully but John steps out from around the corner of the Jumper and points his pistol at the back of his head.

SHEPPARD: Don't move.

(Ronon grimaces angrily.)

SHEPPARD: Drop it.

(Ronon drops his blaster to the ground and raises his hands.)

SHEPPARD: Now back away.

(Ronon walks a few paces away from the blaster, then slowly turns around as John picks it up.)

SHEPPARD: Now, tell me: who the hell are you?

DEX: I know you don't remember everything. You have no idea what's going on. You're confused, maybe even a little scared. I know I would be. But you have to trust me.

(John cocks his pistol.)

DEX: We're friends. The things we've been through together – I don't care what anyone says, no disease can wipe that away, not completely.

(John frowns as if certain very distant memories are coming to him and he's trying to make them clearer in his mind.)

DEX: OK, deep down, you know I'm telling the truth.

(John's pistol wavers as he continues trying to think.)

DEX: Now give me the gun.

(He reaches for it but John aims it at him again.)

SHEPPARD: Oh, nice try.

(Ronon raises his hands and backs away, frustrated.)

SHEPPARD: For all I know, you're the one who tied me up.

DEX (lowering his hands): Fine. Then shoot me. Then you'll be all alone in the middle of the dark forest, with no idea who you are, where you're going or what you're gonna do next. How could I possibly make it any worse?

Bush's 1976 Arrest in Maine Is Revealed

November 03, 2000 MARK Z. BARABAK TIMES POLITICAL WRITER

Responding to reports Thursday

Bush repeatedly questioned the timing of the Maine news reports. "I think that's an interesting question," he told reporters. "Why now? . . . I've got my suspicions."

Stung!

A swarm of new media stories on young George W. Bush's dereliction of duty pops his heroic-leadership bubble.

BY ERIC BOEHLERT

TOPICS: GEORGE W. BUSH, TEXAS, NEWS

On Feb. 13, as controversy swirled around President Bush’s service in the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam War, the White House released more than 400 pages of documents on the press corps, proving, it claimed, that Bush had served honorably and fulfilled his commitment. The sudden rush of records, often redundant, jumbled and out of chronological order, generally left reporters baffled. From Bush’s point of view, the document dump was a political success, as the controversy cooled and the paper trail ran dry.

In retrospect, it’s doubtful that even White House aides understood all the information embedded in the records, specifically the payroll documents. It’s also unlikely they realized how damaging the information could be when read in the proper context. Seven months later, the document dump is coming back to haunt the White House, thanks to researcher Paul Lukasiak, who has spent that time closely examining the paperwork, and more important, analyzing U.S. statutory law, Department of Defense regulations, and Air Force policies and procedures of the 1960s and 1970s. As a result, Lukasiak arrived at the overwhelming conclusion that not only did Bush walk away from his final two years of military obligation, coming dangerously close to desertion, but he attempted to cover up his absenteeism through swindle and fraud.

Lukasiak’s findings, detailed on his Web site the AWOL Project, have since been bolstered and augmented by independent research by the Boston Globe and the Associated Press. On Wednesday, CBS News reported what may be among the most damaging details yet: that Bush’s squadron commander, the late Col. Jerry Killian, complained he was being pressured by higher-ups to give Bush a favorable evaluation after he suspended him from flying for failure to take his annual physical exam. Titled “CYA,” Killian’s memo concluded, “I’m having trouble running interference and doing my job.”

CHAPTER 30

VISTAS

The FBI has cordial relationships with all manner of businesses. Visa and MasterCard were no exceptions. An FBI agent called the headquarters of both companies from his desk in the Hoover Building, and gave the card numbers to the chiefs of security of both companies. Both were former FBI agents themselves-the FBI sends many retired agents off to such positions, which creates a large and diverse old-boy network-and both of them queried their computers and came up with account information, including name, address, credit history, and most important of all, recent charges. The British Airways flight from London Heathrow to Chicago O'Hare leaped off the screen-actually the faxed page-at the agent's desk in Washington.

"Yeah?" Gus Werner said, when the young agent came into his office.

"He caught a flight from London to Chicago late yesterday, and then a flight from Chicago to New York, about the last one, got a back-room ticket on standby. Must have dumped the ID right after he got in. Here." The agent handed over the charge records and the flight information. Werner scanned the pages.

"No shit," the former chief of the Hostage Rescue Team observed quietly. "This looks like a hit, Johnny."

"Yes, sir," replied the young agent, fresh in from the Oklahoma City field division. "But it leaves one thing out-how he got to Europe this time. Everything else is documented, and there's a flight from Dublin to London, but nothing from here to Ireland," Special Agent James Washington told his boss.

"Maybe he's got American Express. Call and find out," Werner ordered the junior man.

"Will do," Washington promised.

"Who do I call on this?" Werner asked.

"Right here, sir." Washington pointed to the number on the covering sheet.

"Oh, good, I've met him. Thanks, Jimmy." Werner lifted his phone and dialed the international number. "Mr. Tawney, please," he told the operator. "It's Gus Werner calling from FBI Headquarters in Washington."

"Hello, Gus. That was very fast of you," Tawney said, half in his overcoat and hoping to get home.

"The wonders of the computer age, Bill. I have a possible hit on this Serov guy. He flew from Heathrow to Chicago yesterday. The flight was about three hours after the fracas you had at Hereford. I have a rental car, a hotel hill, and a flight from Chicago to New York City after he got here."

"Address?"

"We're not that lucky. Post office box in lower Manhattan," the Assistant Director told his counterpart. "Bill, how hot is this?"

"Gus, it's bloody hot. Sean Grady gave us the name, and one of the other prisoners confirmed it. This Serov chap delivered a large sum of money and ten pounds of cocaine shortly before the attack. We're working with the Swiss to track the money right now. And now it appears that this chap is based in America. Very interesting."

"No shit. We're going to have to track this mutt down if we can," Werner thought aloud. There was ample jurisdiction for the investigation he was about to open. American laws on terrorism reached across the world and had draconian penalties attached to them. And so did drug laws.

Art of the Third Reich

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The art of the Third Reich, the officially approved art produced in Nazi Germany

Creation of the Reichskulturkammer

In September 1933 the Reichskulturkammer (Reich Culture Chamber) was established, with Joseph Goebbels, Hitler's Reichminister für Volksaufklärung und Propaganda (Reich Minister for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda) in charge. Subchambers within the Culture Chamber, representing the individual arts (music, film, literature, architecture, and the visual arts) were created; these were membership groups consisting of "racially pure" artists supportive of the Party, or willing to be compliant. Goebbels made it clear: "In future only those who are members of a chamber are allowed to be productive in our cultural life. Membership is open only to those who fulfill the entrance condition. In this way all unwanted and damaging elements have been excluded."

Gregoire Begins Race For Attorney General

By Barbara A. Serrano, Jim Simon

OLYMPIA - Former state Ecology Director Chris Gregoire, hoping a little of Gov. Booth Gardner's popularity will rub off on her, officially announced her Democratic candidacy today for attorney general.

Appearing with about 100 supporters and the governer at her side, Gregoire said she will seek to make the attorney general's office "a law firm of the people" by making sure other state agencies and the federal government are doing their job.

"I'm not just another elected official seeking higher office," said Gregoire, who is running her first campaign. "I want to get in there and explain how important this office really is (and) what my vision is for the state."

651 F.2d 239: United States of America, Appellee, v. John D. Long, Appellant

United States Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit. - 651 F.2d 239

Argued Jan. 9, 1981.Decided June 12, 1981

John D. Long, a South Carolina State Senator, appeals his conviction for violating and conspiring to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization (RICO) Act, 18 U.S.C. § 1962(c) and (d). Long assigns the following errors: his Senate seat, described in the indictment as an Office of Senate, was not an "enterprise" as defined by the Act; the activities of his office do not affect interstate commerce; the court improperly admitted tapes of recorded conversation; and the jury should not have been furnished transcripts of the tapes. We affirm.

Long and Billy Dean Roark, a Senate employee, were charged with accepting bribes, in violation of South Carolina law, paid to induce Long to procure state jobs for the persons who gave the bribes. Roark pled guilty and testified against Long.

The evidence disclosed the following undisputed facts. Roark urged an acquaintance to buy a state job from Long. This man told an agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation about Roark's suggestion and agreed to act as an informant for the FBI. Wearing a tape recorder, the informant met several times with both Roark and Long, and he paid $700 to Long and $800 to Roark in return for Long's promise to get him a state job. The informant then introduced Roark and Long to an FBI agent who said he was looking for state employment. The agent also had several meetings with Long and Roark, all of which were taped by a body recorder. At one of these meetings, the agent paid Long $500 as a down payment for a state job. Although both the informant and the agent obtained interviews with state agencies, including the state Alcohol Beverage Control Commission, neither was given state employment before the grand jury returned the indictments against Roark and Long.

To establish a violation of the RICO statute, the government must show that the enterprise affects interstate commerce.

Remarks on Signing a Resolution and a Proclamation Declaring National P.O.W.-M.I.A. Recognition Day, 1981

June 12th, 1981

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to what I think is a very important and worthwhile little signing ceremony here in the Rose Garden. I am pleased that I'm going to sign a joint resolution and a proclamation designating July 17th, 1981 National P.O.W.-M.I.A. Recognition Day.

The brave men and women who fought for our country should all know that America does remember and is grateful and will always be proud of their courage and honor on the battlefield. And it's fitting that we pay this special tribute to those who so heroically endured the hardships and torture of enemy captivity—unusual in any war in our history, because it was the longest period that American fighting men have ever been held in captivity. Just the thought of the terrible pain that they suffered and endured should be seared in our memories forever. And let us remember, too, that 6 years after American involvement in Vietnam, in the war, we still don't have a full accounting of our missing servicemen from that conflict, an accounting that was guaranteed in the Paris peace accords that brought the fighting there to an end, an agreement which has been violated.

Recently there have been reports that Americans are still being held captive in Indochina. None of these reports, I'm sorry to say, has been verified, but the world should know that this administration continues to attach the highest priority to the problem of those missing in action. We intend to seek the fullest possible account from the governments involved.

I'm grateful that we have with us here today one of America's outstanding heroes from the Vietnam war, one of the former prisoners of war, and now the Senator from Alabama, Jeremiah Denton, accompanied by his lovely wife Jane. July 17th, it is just 16 years—or that will be—to the day that he was shot down over Southeast Asia. Now, lest someone think that there's a little confusion there, he was shot down on July 18th, 1965, but when it was the 18th there, on this side of the dateline it was the 17th. Jeremiah Denton. Who will ever forget on that first night in that first plane that arrived at Clark Field in the Philippines, and he was the first man we saw come down the ramp from the plane, salute our flag, ask God's blessing on America, and then thank us for bringing them home.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremiah_Andrew_Denton

Jeremiah Andrew Denton Jr.

a retired U.S. Navy admiral and a former U.S. senator of the Republican party. He spent almost eight years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam and later wrote a book about his experiences.

Navy Cross Citation

"The Navy Cross is presented to Jeremiah A. Denton, Rear Admiral, U.S. Navy, for extraordinary heroism while serving as a Prisoner of War in North Vietnam from February 1966 to May 1966. Under constant pressure from North Vietnamese interrogators and guards, Rear Admiral Denton (then Commander) experienced harassment, intimidation and ruthless treatment in their attempt to gain military information and cooperative participation for propaganda purposes. During this prolonged period of physical and mental agony, he heroically resisted cruelties and continued to promulgate resistance policy and detailed instructions. Forced to attend a press conference with a Japanese correspondent, he blinked out a distress message in Morse Code at the television camera and was understood by United States Naval Intelligence.

The Evil Forest (1951)

Plot Summary

To escape enemy bombing, two soldiers take refuge in a deserted church where they discover a manuscript dating back to the fifth century when barbarian hordes ravaged the Spanish countryside. It tells of two warriors, Roderico, who opposes war and useless bloodshed, who is slain by Klingsor, who takes over as the tribal chief. The dead man's widow flees to seek the Holy Mountain where the Knights of the Grail guard the Sacred Spear and the Holy Grail, but she fails to find it. She dies but her young son, Parsifal, survives and reaches maturity free from worldly temptations, evil and cruelty. He visits the Holy Mountain and meets Kundry, daughter of Klingsor, and they seemingly fall in love. She is ordered by her father to trap Parsifal, but she fails. Klingsor has the Holy Spear which discourages the Knight of the Grail. Parsifal pledges to get it back and Klingsor tries again to use his daughter to discourage him, but to no avail. He also tries to trap Parsival in the Evil Forest of the Seven Deadly Sins, but Parsival wins out and retrieves the Sacred Spear. He is permitted into the cave where the Holy Grail is kept. Kundry, too, is present, having cleansed herself of evil.

SHEPPARD: There's gotta be some way out of this. (He thinks for a moment.) What about the Jumpers? They've got D.H.D.s.

McKAY: It doesn't matter. Without the control crystal, the Gate can't establish a stable wormhole. We're not going anywhere.

SHEPPARD (frowning): I'm missing something. I can't concentrate.

DEX: What about the mainland?

TEYLA: Ronon is right. The enchuri plant is abundant on many worlds. It may be here as well.

SHEPPARD: All right. Assuming we can find the stuff, how're we gonna distribute it?

(Rodney sighs plaintively.)

McKAY: I'll figure something out.

(He heads off towards his lab.)

TEYLA (to Ronon): I'll stay with Rodney. Do you know what to look for?

DEX: It grows like a weed on Sateda.

(Teyla nods and follows Rodney. John and Ronon head off for the Jumper Bay.)

PUDDLE JUMPER. John and Ronon walk in, John looking around the ship vaguely as the lights come on automatically. Ronon steers him towards the pilot's seat.

DEX: Uh, there.

(John sits down while Ronon takes the co-pilot's seat. John stares at the controls blankly.)

DEX: You can fly this thing. It's in your blood – literally.

Tom Clancy Goes Beyond Fantastic Into Fantasy

August 17, 1998 By Mark Skoneki, The Orlando Sentinel.

RAINBOW SIX

By Tom Clancy

Putnam, 740 pages, $27.95

Tom Clancy's recent novels have featured such incredible plot twists as a jetliner slamming into the U.S. Capitol, a worldwide stock market crash triggered by computer sabotage and the release of the deadly Ebola virus across America.

Through all those fantastic turns, Clancy has somehow managed to maintain a certain plausibility--that what he was writing about could actually happen. With his new novel, however, Clancy may have crossed the line into the realm of the unbelievable. "Rainbow Six" will sell well, no doubt, because of Clancy's well-earned reputation as the master of the techno-thriller, but I suspect even some of his most rabid fans will shake their heads at parts of this novel.

"Rainbow Six" is the story of John Clark, the CIA spy featured in many of Clancy's previous stories. (President Jack Ryan is only briefly mentioned this time.) Rainbow Six is the code name for Clark, head of a secret squad of soldiers called Rainbow. It's a team of commandos based in Britain created to battle terrorists no matter where they strike.

Just weeks into its deployment, Rainbow must deal with an assault on a German bank, the attempted kidnapping of a wealthy stock market player and a hostage situation at Worldpark, a Spanish theme park. Later, the terrorists strike at Rainbow itself, with Clark's wife and pregnant daughter the intended targets.

Most of these events are connected to a conspiracy with worldwide ramifications, concocted by the head of an American biotechnology corporation with a radical ecological agenda. Helping things along is an ex-KGB agent who has contacts with long-idled terrorists across the world.

The Ebola virus once again plays a major role in this diabolical plan of eco-terrorism, just as it did in Clancy's last novel, "Executive Orders." It seems as though the writer could have come up with a new disease for Rainbow. The book also lacks much of the political context that gives other Clancy novels their chilling authenticity.

"Rainbow" does raise questions about the power of corporations today. But the scope of the conspiracy sinks this tale.

"Is this for real?" one of Clark's subordinates asks him at one point.

Apparently, even the characters have trouble buying it.

Clancy's `Rainbow' is just too silly to thrill

[City Edition]

Boston Globe - Boston, Mass.

Author: Bray, Hiawatha

Date: Aug 29, 1998

Just take a peek at the latest from old reliable himself, Tom Clancy. He's in a bad way for bad guys. Since the Cold War ended, Clancy has ginned up a succession of ruthless new adversaries -- Colombian drug lords, Iranian fanatics, Japanese lunatics. Yet miscreants and malefactors have gotten a bit thin on the ground -- at least the kind suitable for the attentions of Clancy's cold-eyed, high-tech warriors.

But the god of bestsellers is a demanding god. Clancy knows that he must continue to heap menace upon menace and thrill upon thrill to keep his readers satiated. And so the dust jacket of his latest book, "Rainbow Six," promises the ultimate villains, "a band of men and women so extreme that their success could literally mean the end of life on this earth as we know it."

The faithful Clancy fan, once he's stopped giggling, will notice that the old boy has taken to repeating himself.

LORNE: And who are you?

DEX: Look in your pocket.

LORNE: What?

DEX (sternly): Just look in your vest pocket.

DEX: You took a picture of him just in case it came to this. I was there.

LORNE (to his team): He's telling the truth. (He looks at John.) This is our commanding officer.

SHEPPARD (vaguely): That's right. I am your commanding officer, so you should do what I say.

LORNE: Yes, sir.

(All the soldiers holster their stunners.)

LORNE: What are your orders?

Mail and wire fraud

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the United States, mail and wire fraud is any fraudulent scheme to intentionally deprive another of property or honest services via mail or wire communication. It has been a federal crime in the United States since 1872.

History

In the 1960s and '70s, inspectors under regional chief postal inspectors such as Martin McGee, known as "Mr. Mail Fraud," exposed and prosecuted numerous swindles involving land sales, phony advertising practices, insurance ripoffs, and fraudulent charitable organizations using mail fraud charges.

felony murder doctrine

a rule of criminal statutes that any death which occurs during the commission of a felony is first degree murder, and all participants in that felony or attempted felony can be charged with and found guilty of murder. A typical example is a robbery involving more than one criminal, in which one of them shoots, beats to death or runs over a store clerk, killing the clerk. Even if the death were accidental, all of the participants can be found guilty of felony murder, including those who did no harm, had no gun, and/or did not intend to hurt anyone.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felony_murder_rule

Felony murder rule

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The rule of felony murder is a legal doctrine in some common law jurisdictions that broadens the crime of murder in two ways. First, when an offender kills accidentally or without specific intent to kill in the commission of a felony, the offender can be charged with murder. Second, it makes any participant in such a felony criminally liable for any deaths that occur during or in furtherance of that felony.

While there is debate about the original scope of the rule, modern interpretations typically require that the felony be an inherently dangerous one, or one committed in an obviously dangerous manner. For this reason, the felony murder rule is often justified by its supporters as a means of deterring dangerous felonies.

According to some commentators, the common law rule dates to the twelfth century and took its modern form in the eighteenth century. Critics of the rule argue that the rule is unjust because it requires no intent to kill. In favor of the rule, it can be argued that the rule affirms for principle of the sanctity of human life by imposing harsher penalties for crimes that destroy human life.

Her hair is no longer tied up, so it's fairly obvious that she's as amnesiac as the others, although she has managed to hang onto Teyla's name for a little longer than Rodney has.)

MAN: Go! Go!

SECNAV INSTRUCTION 1650.1H

From: Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Manpower and Reserve Affairs)

Subj: NAVY AND MARINE CORPS AWARDS MANUAL

1. Purpose. To provide guidance and regulations concerning awards available for recognizing individuals and units in the Naval Service.

2. Navy Cross

a. Authorization. 10 U.S.C. S6242.

b. Eligibility Requirements

(1) Awarded to individuals who, while serving in any capacity with the Navy or Marine Corps, distinguish themselves by extraordinary heroism, not justifying the award of the Medal of Honor.

(a) While engaged in an action against an enemy of the United States;

(b) While engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force; or

(c) While serving with friendly foreign forces engaged in an armed conflict against an opposing armed force, in which the United States is not a belligerent party.

(2) To warrant this distinctive decoration, the act or execution of duty must be performed in the presence of great danger, or at great personal risk, and must be performed in such a manner as to set individuals apart from their shipmates or fellow Marines. An accumulation of minor acts of heroism normally does not justify the award. The high standards SECNAVINST 1650.1H demanded must be borne in mind when recommending the award.
