Having seen numerous advertisements for the season premiere of the television series "Helix" I decided to myself to make myself watch the season premiere episode this Friday. The new television series "12 Monkeys" premieres right next to it so that helped my decision to watch it.
I wrote here long ago watching the first episodes of "Helix" on the internet. I have seen some of the episodes listed as rebroadcast on television but trying to watch more than a few minutes of that SyFy-lameoid-Channel quality drivel was more than enough to just turn off the television.
Tonight I resigned myself to watch the three most recent episodes that lead up to the season premiere episode on Friday. Only after watching the entire episode did I realize I had started with the second-to-last episode of the recent season so tonight I watched for the first time only the two most recent episodes.
I don't know if the translation of what I guess is French is supposed to translate as "In The Shade" or as "In The Dark".
The dialog at one point kind of triggered something in my mind. That was kind of surprising to me because I suddenly had a new sense of the profound and that was surprising because the topic was something I had thought about a lot in the recent and distant past.
And I think more of The Adversary, whatever that means.
I don't know what I'm afraid of. Selling out, I guess.
To the immortal the drama of man fades as easily as the day's weather outside.
I try to imagine immortal sociopath. Perhaps I am just naive. What if the entire human race has to be killed off by an act of Mother Nature just so I will develop a true sense of humanity.

It must have been something similar to when I saved those people from being run over by that speeding car a few years back. That must have been 2002. I was a volunteer at the Danskin triathlon. I puzzled over that for a long time. I just couldn't put my finger on something about that. My mind had been blank but yet I acted with such split-second decisiveness to keep them from getting splattered by that car.

Bruce’s eyes appeared to be gummed shut by soup, but Starkey forbore to wipe the lids. He was afraid Frank D. Bruce’s eyes would fall back into his skull, like the eyes of the man with the sign. He was even more afraid that the lids, freed of the glue which held them, might roll up like windowshades. He was mostly afraid of what the expression in Frank D. Bruce’s eyes might be.
“Private Bruce,” Starkey said softly, “at ease.”

The Medal of Honor is the United States of America's highest military honor, awarded for personal acts of valor above and beyond the call of duty.
Historical versions
The Medal of Honor has evolved in appearance over time. The upside-down star design of the Navy version's pendant adopted in early 1862 has not changed since its inception. The Army 1862 version followed and was identical to the Navy version except an eagle perched atop cannons was used instead of an anchor to connect the pendant to the suspension ribbon. In 1896, the Army version changed the ribbon's design and colors due to misuse and imitation by nonmilitary organizations. In 1904, the Army "Gillespie" version introduced a smaller redesigned star and the ribbon was changed to the light blue pattern with white stars seen today. In 1913, the Navy version adopted the same ribbon pattern.

After World War I, the Navy decided to separate the Medal of Honor into two versions, one for combat and one for non-combat. The original upside-down star was designated as the non-combat version and a new pattern of the medal pendant, in cross form, was designed by the Tiffany Company in 1919. It was to be presented to a sailor or Marine who "in action involving actual conflict with the enemy, distinguish[es] himself conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty"
