Sure feel better after stepping away from those UFO-bunkers, such as David Grusch and Mike Colangelo and their ilk, on Twitter. I noted recently my observations about my abandonment of Twitter.

What a load of ridiculous crap they infested this world with

Kevin Day knows NOTHING! about RADAR!

Sean Cahill knows nothing about radar!

And so then that Mike guy is blabbering away about how "they" - whatever "they" are - have "cracked anti-gravity"

Some other moron is raging at the US Navy not revealing "sensor data"

What a bunch of gullible morons

So desperate to escape their mediocrity

All that OCD wasted when they could have put it to better use demanding to know why solar technology is not more efficient.

by me, Kerry Burgess, posted by me: September 22, 2023

Those UFO-worshippers don't care about that, in their scorn about The Gummint

The Big Bad Government.

Lying to you about E.T. rescuing your mediocrity

by me, Kerry Burgess, posted by me: September 17, 2023

"Believer" ? "Thinker" ?

Why the scorn for "the government" keeping secrets about E.T.?

Are there not more important matters to OCD about?

Why aren't solar-panels more efficient?

Why not "waist" time with *my* evidence?

Is that not what "the gummint" is hiding from you?

by me, Kerry Burgess, posted by me: August 30, 2023

Is that all just porno for you, Daisy?

Is that why all those people a few years ago got all worked up into a frenzy to trespass at Area 51?

Is that what you're still hoping to do?

UFO-worshippers are harassing USA DOD so they will give you their UFO-porno?

by me, Kerry Burgess, 12/16/2023 6:57 PM

I had already made a post about 12/14/2023 but that was before I read today about Congress and UFO-bunkers from 12/14/2023. I've referenced an except from my previous work, which in summary, associates that actor who starred as the pivotal-character "Julie Mao" in "The Expanse" tv-series. Her presence is the driving factor of drama in the first season of that excellent tv-series

As for those UFO-bunkers, they STILL !!! do not explain WHY Tim Burchett has the same birthdate as the fictional character "Dr. Ellie Arroway" from the 1997 "Contact"

Just a bunch of losers

They want the USA Department of Defense to reveal important secrets FOR NO REASON other than to satisfy the obsessive-compulsion of you UFO-bunkers, so desperate to escape your mediocre life

You're an ineffective little guy in a pathetic attempt to exert dominance over those with real power, because their mere existence reminds you of your ineffectiveness.

Kevin Day doesn't know a damn thing about RADAR. Sean Cahill doesn't know a damn thing about RADAR. That guy bounces out the good name of the US Navy just to peddle his crappy product. And those ineffective little guys rage with threats to Area 51.

AND my personal interpretation suggests their heroic US Navy pilot *might be* an actual drunk who's never flown at 500 miles per hour and passed a mylar balloon

I gave a lot of people on Twitter the opportunity to refute my sensible rebuttal

My point is about how those people are being manipulated.

Those Frodo lovers of UFO-porn are easy to understand

Show them some attention and they are little puppy dogs wagging their tails any time you look at them

by me, Kerry Burgess, August 19, 2023

You weren't part of that crowd, a few years ago, inciting UFO-worshippers to storm Area 51, were you?

Free-speech is the most important right we have and should not be abused

You sound like a bunch of kids: "Oh, Frodo. If only we could live in Dungeons and Dragons".

Cutting the Chaff: Overlooked Lessons of Military UAP Sightings for Joint Force and Interagency Coordination

By Luke M. Herrington Joint Force Quarterly 110

I turn to the so-called USS Nimitz incident, a military UAP sighting disclosed to the public in 2017, both to argue that there are real lessons to learn from this incident about maneuvering in a joint force operating environment and to show why securitization represents an inappropriate response to these sightings. Admittedly, proponents of securitization also point to such things as Air Force sightings in Kosovo, Army sightings over Afghanistan, and sightings near nuclear weapons caches throughout the United States. Reflecting critically on the open-source details that emerge from any of these episodes would highlight similar lessons. However, the 2004 Nimitz incident represents the central pillar in the discourse on UAP securitization. When paired with the fact that the Nimitz incident may be the most well-documented military UAP sighting previously disclosed to the public, this makes the case more important than any others. Thus, scrutinizing this days-long encounter that allegedly brought a naval battlegroup—the 11th Carrier Strike Group—into contact with innumerable UFOs highlights the three lessons outlined above most clearly.

In the next section, I analyze the Nimitz incident and offer some potential explanations for the UAPs that Sailors from the Nimitz battlegroup witnessed in 2004. Following that, I expand my argument that the complicated logistics of maneuvering in a joint force or interagency context require consistent collaboration and clear communication to avoid unnecessary risks that could lead to costly or life-ending accidents. To accomplish this, I present a strategic interpretation of key open-source details associated with the Nimitz incident and compare the case to the 1988 USS Vincennes incident. Finally, recognizing that logistics represent only one critical component in a strategic interpretation of military UAP sightings, I elaborate on the implications of my argument for personnel, foreign policy, and pedagogy in the conclusion.

A Brief Analysis of the Nimitz Incident

The Nimitz incident occurred over the course of several days in the Southern California Offshore Range (SCORE) Complex in November 2004. On November 10, then–Senior Chief Petty Officer Kevin Day, an air intercept controller aboard the USS Princeton, spotted several mystery objects on radar. In different interviews, Day claims to have seen anywhere between “ten” and “hundreds” of these radar-indicated objects over the next few days. Then, on November 14, the incident reached its climax when Day and his commanding officer dispatched a pair of F/A-18 Super Hornets from the Nimitz to investigate the objects. Commander David Fravor, the commanding officer of the Black Aces squadron, and his wingman, Lieutenant Commander Alex Dietrich, were diverted from a training mission to investigate the anomalous radar returns. This led to the so-called Tic Tac intercept, where the pilots ostensibly encountered a white, ovoid, 40-foot-long object with no wings or visible propulsion flying over the Pacific. Later that day, footage of the Tic Tac was recorded by a third pilot.

The media’s attempts to sensationalize the affair notwithstanding, aspects of the Nimitz incident can be easily explained or debunked.

Mass psychogenic illness

From Wikipedia

Mass psychogenic illness (MPI), also called mass sociogenic illness, mass psychogenic disorder, epidemic hysteria or mass hysteria, involves the spread of illness symptoms through a population where there is no infectious agent responsible for contagion. It is the rapid spread of illness signs and symptoms affecting members of a cohesive group, originating from a nervous system disturbance involving excitation, loss, or alteration of function, whereby physical complaints that are exhibited unconsciously have no corresponding organic causes that are known.

Stargate SG-1

"Memento"

TV-series Season 6 episode 20, 03/07/2003

(from internet transcript)

CARTER
The jump must have triggered a power surge that overloaded the reactor control systems. Sir, without the buffer we have no way to stop the build up. WE have afew minutes before the naquadria goes critical.

RONSON
Stand by to jettison the reactor module.

GANT
Yes Sir.

JONAS
Wait a minute, if I'm wrong about there being a Stargate on this planet, we're losing our only means of getting home.

TEAL'C
It would appear there is little choice.

RONSON
Bring shields and sub-light engines online.

CARTER
We're not going to be able to get very far away before it blows.

RONSON
Then we're about to find out how just good our shields are.

RONSON
(Into ship's intercom)
All hands brace for impact.

[An alarm begins to sound.]

RONSON
Reactor module separation on my mark, 3,2,1 mark.

[Ronson and Gant press buttons simultaneously. The reactor is seen being jettisoned out of the ship.]

GANT
Module jettisoned.

RONSON
Get us clear, full military thrust.

OFFICER
Sir!

[The Prometheus is seen moving away from the module, which is turning brighter. It explodes, and a shock wave careers towards them. It hits the Prometheus, which convulses with the impact, and inside several consoles explode behind O'Neill, Jonas and Teal'c, who are showered with sparks. The ship continues to convulse. Gas begins escaping from a pipe behind Teal'c. He turns off a nearby valve and the gas disappears. The convulsing stops.]

RONSON
Damage report!

GANT
The electromagnetic pulse penetrated the shields Sir; primary computer systems are down. All we have is artificial gravity and life support on most decks.

RONSON
Casualties?

GANT
None reported.

RONSON
How soon before we get systems back online?

GANT
(Frantically checking her console)
It's too early to say Sir.

CARTER
I'd like to assist if I may.

RONSON
Please do, Major.

OFFICER
Colonel Ronson, I'm picking up incoming bogeys, originally from the planet's surface. Closing on our position, heading this way.

RONSON
Can you identify them?

OFFICER
Velocity and size indicates some kind of ballistic missile Sir. We're under attack.

[A new alarm starts to sound. Carter, Teal'c and Jonas look concerned. Ronson looks at O'Neill, who returns his look and cocks his head slightly. The sensor screen is shown, with Prometheus in the middle of the screen. 2 red dots appear, coming toward the Prometheus from approx. 1 o'clock.]

RONSON
Evasive action, take us out of orbit.

OFFICER
We can't manoeuvre Sir.

RONSON
All right, arm weapons, we'll try to take them out.

GANT
Weapons control is down Sir.

[Ronson looks worried.]

O'NEILL
Let's talk to them.

OFFICER
2 minutes to missile impact.

GANT
Sir, I can broadcast on multiple frequencies. If they're listening, they'll pick it up.

RONSON
Do it.

[Prometheus descends to land on the alien planet.]

INT—PROMETHEUS CORRIDOR

[O'Neill leads Jonas, Teal'c and Carter as they prepare to meet the inhabitants.]

JONAS
The man you talked to is called Commander Kalfas. The planet is called Tagrea.

O'NEILL
Kalfas. Tagrea. Got it.

[SG-1 and several Tagreans are stood around a table. They sit. Soldiers are seen in the doorway.]

O'NEILL
I take it we have you to thank for destroying the missiles before they hit our ship thus…
(Kalfas joins them)
…saving out lives.

ASHWAN
There was something in your voice that I trusted.

O'NEILL
Oh. Did I mention we're sorry.

ASHWAN
Knowing that the EM pulse caused damage to your ship, I'm willing to accept that it was unintentional.

KALFAS
I'm not so willing.

ASHWAN
Power has been restored to the cities affected, Kalfas.

KALFAS
There was considerable impact on our economic systems.

ASHWAN
They will recover.

KALFAS
We still don't know the extent of the damage.

ASHWAN
(Raising his voice)
Nothing
(Turning to SG-1)
compared to meeting a race of people from another world for the very first time.

[He looks at SG-1, there is a pause.]

ASHWAN
It is a profound moment for us.

[O'Neill smiles uncomfortably.]

KALFAS
They seek the Ring of the Gods.

O'NEILL
If that's what you want to call, Ring of the Gods is good.

[Kalfas hands back the notebook.]

ASHWAN
Please, understand, this device you seek, the "Stargate" I regret to tell you—

KALFAS
(Interrupting)
It's a myth.

ASHWAN
There has never been a shred of evidence to prove its existence.

O'NEILL
Have you looked around, just…

CARTER
If you could grant us access to your historical data, we could shed some light on the situation.

KALFAS
No, no, no, your freedom of movement is not negotiable. Once this meeting is over, you're to return to your vessel and stay there unless further instructed.

ASHWAN
In the meantime, I will have some basic historical data delivered to your ship.

KALFAS
Mister Chairman!

ASHWAN
If you do somehow succeed in proving the existence of this Stargate, we will be glad to help you locate it as an act of good faith between our two worlds.

[They stand. Ashwan bows.]

O'NEILL
Thank you Ashwan.

[SG-1 leave, accompanied by the guards.]

KALFAS
They may well be gathering information for an invasion.

ASHWAN
Even if you're right, knowing our history will do no harm. But Kalfas, what if this ring does exist? Imagine, after all these centuries, finding a piece of our past.

KALFAS
And what is our past was buried for a good reason?

ASHWAN
Travellers from another world are seeking our help.

INT—TAGREAN CENTRAL ARCHIVE

[Jonas and Teal'c are sat at a long table, with several thick volumes piled up around them. They are deep in study.]

JONAS
How many planets have SG-1 been to?

TEAL'C
One hundred thirty three.

JONAS
And on each of them, the ones inhabited by humans at least, there's been some indications of their origins right, a temple, some ruins…

TEAL'C
It is indeed a mystery Jonas Quinn. A Goa'uld would not bring this many Tau'ri to a new world and not force them to build monuments in his honour.

JONAS
Well, I don't care how hard you try, you can't erase history, something must remain. We just need to find it.

[Teal'c looks over to a nearby bookcase, where a Tagrean is watching them. Catching Teal'c's gaze, he looks away quickly, and is suddenly very interested in the scrolls on the shelves.]

TEAL'C
We are being watched.

JONAS
What, the guy half hiding behind the bookshelf? Pff! Been casing us since we got here.

[The man hurriedly puts the scroll he was reading back on the shelf, and several others fall off due to his haste.]

JONAS
And not very well either.

KALFAS
(Barely containing his anger)
They want to be taken to co-ordinates in the wasteland.

ASHWAN
Then take them.

KALFAS
I think that's a mistake.

ASHWAN
Because they may find something you do not want them to find.

KALFAS
If this is reconnaissance prior to a invasion-

ASHWAN
You're being ridiculous.

KALFAS
(Raising his voice)
And you are being reckless!

ASHWAN
(Standing to face Kalfas)
Representatives from another world have come to Tagrea.
(He starts to shout)
Another world! Do you understand!
(Pause)
And what's more, they seek our help.

KALFAS
(Quietly, with menace)
We do not even know their true intentions.

ASHWAN
Or what they can offer us. An exchange of knowledge and technology. The Stargate could open up the universe for our people-

KALFAS
(His voice rising again.)
A universe of potential enemies. I demand that you reconsider!

ASHWAN
(Shouting)
We cannot undo what has happened!

[There is a pause as both men stare each other down.]

ASHWAN
The difference is, Kalfas, I would not if I could. They are here, and we must deal with them one way or another. I prefer to help.

KALFAS
And I prefer to-

ASHWAN
(Interrupting)
For now, have them taken to the co-ordinates.

[He nods, showing his authority. Kalfas stands to attention, and nods in return.]

KALFAS
As you wish.

ASHWAN
Kalfas' actions are outrageous!

O'NEILL
Tell him to stand down.

ASHWAN
I've done exactly that, Colonel, he refuses. He claims to be protecting Tagrea's security.

O'NEILL
Have him arrested.

ASHWAN
Kalfas commands a great loyalty among many in the military. Challenging him would only lead to civil war.

CARTER
Sir, we could use the Prometheus. Her weapons would be more than a match for Kalfas' troops.

O'NEILL
There is still that nagging problem of all the guns pointed at it.

ASHWAN
I chose the commander of those gun batteries myself. He is loyal to me. Colonel, I give you my word, he will not fire upon your ship.

British movies are hard to understand because of notions that are understood only in their society. I've seen enough now to wonder if that Joe guy is raging at Mrs. Stritton because she is supposed to represent some larger element of British society in the 1940s. I don't know what it is.

Stargate SG-1

"Memento"

TV-series Season 6 episode 20, 03/07/2003

(from internet transcript)

JONAS
Kalfas, you've no idea what you're dealing with here.

KALFAS
I know our ancestors buried this device for a reason.

JONAS
Maybe they were wrong. Maybe it's time for you to stop being afraid of the past.

KALFAS
No, it's not the past I'm concerned about, it's the future. Having assessed our strength, you would undoubtedly return with greater numbers.

TEAL'C
You have nothing to fear from the Tau'ri.

JONAS
We just want to fix our ship. Our people can become friends, they can exchange knowledge, even trade. We'll even teach you how to use the Stargate.

[Kalfas steps forward, toward Jonas.]

KALFAS
Yes, you will teach me how to use it.

ASHWAN
Kalfas, this has gone far enough. Release these men.

KALFAS
(To the troops)
Hold your positions. We cannot let him hand this device over to the aliens.

[Ashwan looks around again.]

ASHWAN
(Addressing the troops)
Commander Kalfas, he's a good man…a cautious man. But he thinks, as our ancestors did, that is better to control what we do not understand, to bury it so it cannot harm us. I, too, once thought as he does, but no longer. These…aliens, who Kalfas fears so much, are not conquerors, they are long lost brethren.

[Kalfas looks around uneasily. Ashwan gestures to the Stargate.]

ASHWAN
Look at it.
(Pause)
This is where we came from.
(Pause)
This is who we are. Our ancestors erased our history out of fear.
(He points to Kalfas)
And yet, without our history, we cannot know who we are, or what we may someday become. I will not make that same mistake.

[He walks toward Kalfas.]

ASHWAN
I'm relieving you of your command. You and your men will stand down.

[He starts to walk away, then turns back.]

ASHWAN
(raising his voice)
I said, lower your weapons!

[Kalfas and SG-1 look around as the troops follow Ashwan's order; motioning to Kalfas.]

ASHWAN
Take him away.

[Kalfas's side arm is removed, and he is led away.]

O'NEILL
(To Ashwan)
Didn't know you had that in you.

ASHWAN
Neither did I.

[General Maynard holds the receiver of the red phone, clearly having just finished speaking.]

MAYNARD
Mister President, we managed to contact the Captain of the Sprewitt, a destroyer in the Nimitz battlegroup.

[He puts down receiver and activates loudspeaker.]

VOICE FROM THE LOUDSPEAKER
I repeat some sort of beam just came out of the sky, there wasn't any warning but the entire carrier just went up in one big fireball.

HAYES
Captain can you see the enemy?

VOICE FROM THE LOUDSPEAKER
Holy... another cruiser just blew up. Where the hell is the fire coming from? All ahead...(static)

by me, Kerry Burgess excerpts from my private journal: 08/02/09 9:33 AM

I dreamed just now of what seems to be the flight of the Stargazer aircraft on 6/27/1994 but the visualizations I assume are mostly just the product of a dream. As usual, there seem to be details that happened before the part I can remember enough to write about that I can not now remember. In the dream, I was onboard that aircraft and we were traveling along towards the point where we would deploy the rocket as it fired and traveled towards space. All I can really visualize though is that the aircraft seemed to be invisible. To me at least. I have the sense that other people could see it. We also were no high over the ground but we were very close to the ground and we were traveling at a rate of motion that did not seem very fast. This all was taking a long time too. I kept expecting the rocket to depart from the aircraft but it did not. I can see the terrain very well. There seemed to be people on the ground looking up and to watch us fly over. We were at another point so close the ground above a highway that I saw a woman in a police car looking up at the sky and I think she was watching us fly over. I think it was before that we were flying over new terrain and I was marveling at the color of the foliage of the trees and it might have seemed that I could even touch the trees with my feet. I remember that very well. But that part is disorienting. It is as though I was standing very close to a wall but then that wall was not actually there and what I saw in front of me was the sky and terrain and everything associated with flying in that aircraft above the ground. It seemed I was talking to the other two men on the aircraft flight deck just then and I become slightly aware as I think about the dream of equipment and instruments around me although that could be the last part. I do have the sense they are wearing uniforms and I think I am too. I am in the middle and I seem to be talking to the guy on my right. Then the part with the woman in the police car seems to happen and then we travel over an area where the terrain drops suddenly and I am marveling at that because I can clearly see everything directly below us. Just because the drop I commented to the guy on my left, who might have actually been me, that there was a stop sign on the road below us at what seemed to be a T-intersection. We seemed to have been following the highway and the highway ended at that intersection with the other highway running perpendicular to it but we continued on a straight line and that was when I saw the terrain drop sharply below us. I commented to the guy to my left who I guess was the pilot about that stop sign below and I cannot now remember our exact words but he responded to me with something about how that was my name on that stop sign and I wish I could remember better that scene from the dream although that was basically the important part. So I think this part is when the rocket was supposed to transfer to space but that is not really clear anymore. What I do remember is that now I am clinging to the side of a mountain and I have no idea where I am although I still have an association in my mind that I was on that aircraft I have been writing about. It is as though I was on the side of that mountain because I had been attached to a rope that was attached to that aircraft and the aircraft had been traveling along with me on that rope. I don't really understand enough to explain what I feel was going on in this part. I don't know. Maybe it doesn't matter. I remember the ground was very steep and I remember there was snow and I seemed to be examining the snow-covered foliage and I am aware of how steep the ground is and I am concerned because I no longer am connected to that aircraft by the rope. I am stuck there on the ground and I have no idea where I am or how to get back to anywhere. I can see what seems to be a level portion of the ground and I guess it is a trail. I can also see a window of a building and it really seems out of place because a consistent thought is that I might as well be on Mount Everest right now but that doesn't really make any sense because I remember seeing all those signs of civilization we flew over. So anyway, I am still lying on or clinging to the mountain in the same position but I am looking at the window and I can visualize it well and I can see the various details of the configuration and I am wondering if I can slide through that window or if it is too small for me to get through. There seems to be no other place to go than through that window where it looks warm and cozy and I see no other signs of civilization other than that window. Then I seem to have made it through the window and I am vaguely aware of being inside the business that runs there and I vaguely recall talking to someone but I cannot remember enough about that conversation to articulate. What seems to happened was that I explained that I was lost from that flight and what they seemed to have done is to put me on a shuttle bus for a hotel and they sent me to a hotel where I can stay. I am aware that I have access to my funds but that is only a notion. I have only the clothes on my back and I am still confused about where I am. I am aware of another person on the bus and I can visualize the we got to the hotel while riding that bus and I can visualize walking through some parts of that hotel and I see that I walked into the registration lobby but then I turned around and walked back out without registering and I am not certain what I was going to do. I still have no idea where I am. I am thinking that the people I was with will probably look for me and I think that if I use my bank card they will know where I am on the ground. I think that was the end. I think the dream ended after I walked back outside the hotel and I was standing outside looking around. I can vaguely visualize the surroundings but I have no idea where it was.

I must have been lying in bed for over four hours last night and could not fall asleep for that much time and longer because I started thinking during the night last night that Stampede Pass is where I materialized after the L-1011 Stargazer spiraled down from over forty thousand feet after breaking into pieces and then crashed with such force that it virtually vaporized on contact with that ground.

after I understood that my aircraft was unflyable because, for one reason, a wing had just broken off due to impact with debris from the Pegasus rocket that had just exploded in front of my windshield, I was turned around part ways in my seat as the pilot and I had my had outreached to shake the hand of Kerry Burgess and I spoke that flying with had been an honor but the aircraft was spinning too fast for us to shake hands. When I materialized at Stampede Pass I felt as though I had materialized about one inch or two above the ground and I found myself standing there in the woods on that dirt road with absolutely no idea where I was and I was standing there with my hand still reaching out to shake his hand.

I also have these unexplained thoughts that I was a fighter pilot in the U.S. military, although I'm not sure which service, but I may have been in two different branches over time. I am also confused about thoughts that I may have been a helicopter pilot. What's next? A space shuttle pilot? Seems like a lot for someone that is only 40. And, while I am not sure when this divergence happened, I am reasonably certain it was before I turned 33. So I must have been a pretty busy guy. Especially because I have thoughts that I was some kind of mathmetician too. I have these thoughts too that I was captured by enemy forces at some point and tortured while in captivity.

As I was trying to go to sleep last night, I had a thought that I have a doctorate in computer science from Princeton.

and I had thoughts that I studied music as well at Princeton.

This sounds very interesting. In my memory of taking Physics my Senior year at Ashdown, I remember being very interested in the class, but we didn’t cover such an interesting topic.

I think I even have memories of the graduate degree process. I am not sure of the terms to describe the process.

I actually do remember... something... I can’t explain it. It feels that I am holding an unmarked, undistinguishable book that I don’t know the name of or the contents but I know I have read it already.

A few minutes ago I started thinking that maybe I started at Princeton University in 1972. I would have been 13 at the time as Thomas Ray. I remember that Kerry Burgess started first grade in 1972. But then I decided that I probably started Princeton earlier than 1972 and maybe 1972 was the year I completed my first major degree. Or 1972 doesn’t really mean anything in particular to Thomas Ray; rather it is there for continuity sake for the life of Kerry Burgess.

Salesman

Also, "Salesman." I saw that in a dream while sleeping recently. I saw myself going through an induction process in the United States Marine Corps and I woke up understanding that I was dreaming of my actual experience in 1990. I saw a document that indicated I was being inducted to the United States Marine Corps with the officer grade of Chief Warrant Officer 2. I saw in the dream another document associated with my induction and that document indicated I had been assigned the informal name "Salesman."

The Perils Of Anonymity

David Robinson

There’s an odd glow that seems to hover over Princeton in May, when seen through the eyes of a graduating senior. It’s a feeling of preemptive nostalgia for the things we’re doing now, grounded in the knowledge that we won’t be doing them soon.

Intercom: Action stations, action stations. Set condition one throughout the ship. This is not a drill. Repeat, action stations, action stations. Set condition one throughout the ship. This is not a drill. Repeat, action stations, action stations. (Tigh pulls his jacket on, the crew rushes around.)

Prosna: Not a drill? They cannot be serious.

Cally: Sounds like it to me.

Prosna: What are we gonna shoot with? The ship's got no ammunition.

Chief: All right people, let's go. Let's get this hangar bay ready for possible incoming.

(Up in the CIC)

Tigh: What have we got? Shipping accident? (Adama hands him the memo)

Gaeta: Combat? Understood. (hangs up the phone) Condition One is set. All decks report ready for action, sir.

Adama: Very well.

Tigh: This is a joke. The fleet's playing a joke on you. It's a retirement prank, come on.

Adama: I don't think so. (on the intercom) This is the Commander. Moments ago, this ship received word of a Cylon attack against our home worlds is underway. We do not know the size or the disposition or the strength of the enemy forces. But all indications point to a massive assault against Colonial defenses. Admiral Negala has taken personal command of the fleet aboard the Battlestar Atlantea following complete destruction of Picon Fleet Headquarters in the first wave of the attacks. How, why - doesn't really matter now. What does matter is that as of this moment, we are at war. You've trained for this, you're ready for this. Stand to your duties, trust your fellow shipmates, and we'll all get through this. Further updates as we get them. Thank you.

(In the hangar)

Prosna: (to Cally) War with the Cylons.

Chief: All right people, this is what we do. We're the best. So let's get the old girl ready to roll and kick some Cylon ass! Come on! Let's go! Move! (to himself) This better be for real.

The Web at 25: Revisiting Tim Berners-Lee's Amazing Proposal

BY HARRY MCCRACKEN MARCH 12, 2014 8:35 AM EDT

On March 12, 1989, British computer scientist Tim Berners-Lee distributed a document to his colleagues at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, in Geneva. His unprepossessing title, "Information Management: A Proposal," indicates that he wasn’t trying to change the world. He just knew that CERN had vast quantities of valuable information stored all over the place, and that it would be easier to find if it were all linked together in a way that made it accessible from any computer. So — returning to concepts he had started exploring in 1980 during an earlier tour of duty at CERN — he recommended creating a networked hypertext system to manage all that knowledge.

The idea floated out there for a while before it became reality, at CERN or anywhere else, but what Berners-Lee was proposing came to be known as the World Wide Web.

Several other early dates in web history matter as much as this one does. On November 12, 1990, for instance, Berners-Lee and a colleague, Robert Cailliau, returned to the idea from the 1989 document with a meatier proposal that coined the name "WorldWideWeb." By December 25, they had the WorldWideWeb software up and running at CERN in its most basic form. On August 6, 1991, people outside of CERN got access to the web as a public Internet service for the first time.

Even then, the web was a text-only service that didn’t bear that much resemblance to the one that became a phenomenon a few years later. Marc Andreessen and Eric Bina’s NCSA Mosaic, announced on January 23, 1993, made the web fully graphical; once that happened, it started to catch on, fast.
